Q: What do Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have in common?

OK, aside from the fact that they both happen to be running for President of the United States of America…
A: Even though the two disagree on the major issues and how to achieve solutions to America’s problems, they both agree on one thing - that there isn’t a lot of room between Hillary Clinton’s views and those of John McCain.

Just after Romney described McCain as “indistinguishable” from Clinton at a rally in Illinois, Obama asked a crowd of 20,000 Delawareans, “If John McCain is the nominee, then the Democratic Party has to ask itself, ‘Do you want a candidate who has similar policies to John McCain on the war in Iraq, or somebody who can offer a stark contrast?’

Obama continued, “When I’m the nominee, John McCain won’t be able to say that you were for this war in Iraq because I wasn’t. He won’t be able to say that I followed the Bush/Cheney doctrine in not talking to leaders we don’t like because I don’t. He won’t be able to say that I went along and gave George Bush the benefit of the doubt on Iran because I haven’t. He won’t be able to say that I was unclear about my position on torture because I’ve been absolutely clear we never torture in this country. I can offer a clear and clean break from the failed policies of George W. Bush. I won’t have to explain my votes in the past. The same is true on domestic policy.”

“We don’t need to have a Democratic nominee who is not clear about the kind of fight that we’re going into,” he said at the Wilmington rally.

But the ‘enemy of my enemy is my friend’ saying isn’t exactly true here. Romney also accused McCain of being “indistinguishable” from Obama - something with which the senator from Illinois would surely disagree.

McCain mirrors hillary on liberal issues. Vote Mitt Romney!!!

A: Romney, McCain, Huckabee, and Obama are using the same fear tactic to scare people into voting for them.

I’m amazed there’s been no outcry for these four to stop this negativity. I guess if Clinton joins in, the pod people will sound their cry and shun such a dirty game that she would have clearly started.

To Jay;
Maybe you could explain to those who are undecided why exactly anyone should vote for Hillary seeing as you think she’s so great.

Comment by Skip

You Huckabee haters are sooooooo obvious. Let’s see if we can get this straight:

Romney can only win in states that have heavy Mormon participation. But Mike has the one-deep constituency?

The truth about Christianity is heralded. The truth about Mormonism is hidden.

First Mike’s not a conservative…then he’s splitting the conservative vote? Please, you look like idiots.

A vote for Mike is a vote for Mike.

Romney had liberal positions on abortion, gay rights, and guns….just 3 years ago!
That’s more recent than McCain-Feingold! How soon we forget.

Romney founded Bain Venture Capital. Bain bought Clear Channel. Clear Channel is the syndication partner for Rush, Glenn, Hannity….

Romney serves on the board at Marriott Hotels. Marriott is a huge purveyor of pornography with their “adult” movie channels. Some family values, huh?

Romney promised Michigan billions in federal bail-out money. Who’s the liberal now?

Romney saved the Olympics? WHO CARES!!!!

If Romney didn’t have the undying support of whacked out Mormons, and bought-and-paid-for talk radio hosts, he wouldn’t have any support at all!

If you believe otherwise, you’re ignorant or an idiot. Fortunately, ignorance can be cured.

Looks like there was a tag team against Mitt ROMNEY!

The Romney campaign doesn’t pretend the sour attitude toward its candidate doesn’t exist. But chief counselor Ben Ginsberg insists— echoing one of the campaign’s main themes — the attitude stems largely from the fact that Romney is “the outsider candidate. He’s not from Washington and he’s going to change Washington. He’s not part of their club.”

At times, this apparent rancor among the other candidates toward Romney has seemed like a schoolyard pact — for example, in the many snarky comments aimed at Romney during the Republican debate on Jan. 5, just before the New Hampshire primary. The campaigns have denied there’s any political collusion going on; they insist all of them simply feel the same way about Romney.

To be sure, the candidates’ staffs do seem to have bonded in their dislike of Romney. “It was very common for e-mails to be flying around between the Thompson, McCain and Giuliani campaigns,” says the former Thompson staffer, “Saying, ‘No matter what happens with us, we all need to make sure it’s not him.’” The staffer says that campaigns would share opposition research on Romney and offer each other tips on how best to undermine him: “Like, ‘Hey, I saw you hit Mitt on immigration — have you thought about going after him on this issue?” In some cases, the attitude even extends to the top of the campaigns. The night of the Iowa caucuses, after getting a congratulatory call from McCain, Huckabee told the candidate, according to aides: “Now it’s your turn to kick his butt.”

John McCain is a Republican in name only (RINO). As a conservative and a registered Republican I will vote for anyone BUT John McCain. The American war hero / foot soldier has never had a job outside of the government. He is Washington and represents the problem. Mitt Romney is the conservatives’ choice.

Mike, I don’t think she’s “so great”. I think she’s got stances that match up with what I want to see for our country. Since you asked:

- Clinton wants to get rid of No Child Left Behind or completely reform it. Obama wants to just throw money at it.
- Her stances on Abortion are sound, but she respects the counter-argument enough to notice that it is a difficult decision. She is against partial-birth, but for early-term. She also wants to make adoptions easier. Obama just says let abortion be open.
- She is pro-death penalty in especially brutal cases, but believes that we should have every federal capital punishment case have DNA. Obama is against the death penalty in all cases, and treats these cases as if the police are the ones to be suspicious of. She supports “three-strikes”.
- She won’t go easy on drug offenders. Obama did drugs as a kid, smokes cigarettes now, and is overly empathetic with drug offenders.
- She supports our public school system, and wants to get rid of or completely scrap and rewrite No Child Left Behind, which is a failure. She wants more funding for children, and she plans to institute programs to lessen the drop-out rate of all students. She understands the importance of smaller classes. She doesn’t believe in vouchers. Obama wants to just reform or fund No Child Left Behind with focus of only minorities for drop-out rates.
- She is for gun rights, but recognizes the need for more advanced screening techniques. She is against assault weapons. He doesn’t know what he supports here. One day he supports tougher legislation, the next he’s telling voters that he’ll “not take your guns away”.
- Her health care is truly universal, and could solve a problem with those who go into hospitals without ability to pay. You are allowed a choice of programs, including the same program she gets. Actually cares about the AIDS crisis. Obama took her plan, but removed the word “universal”. Aside from an AIDS test, he has yet to speak on the problem. He wants to allow health companies to continue to gouge us.

I have more if you’d like some, Mike.

Obama vs. McCain would be dream match

McCain, it is charged, isn’t temperamentally suited to be commander in chief. The blunt missive to Obama two years ago, though relatively minor, underlines that point. Recently, in opposing McCain’s presidential bid, Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi, usually a mild-mannered man, described his colleague as “erratic” and “hot headed.” McCain’s temper so worries him, Cochran said, that “the thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine.”

More instructive in the otherwise amusing and minor matter of the letter is how Obama and McCain then reacted. A few days later, they testified jointly before a Senate committee, both joking about their “pen-pal relationship.” They then worked together on ethics legislation and forged a mutual respect.

McCain, as almost always is the case, cooled off. One of his close allies in the Senate recently gloated that he’d had his periodic rite of passage - “John blew up at me this morning.” He has a temper. There is little evidence to suggest it clouds his judgment or actions in difficult times. He is a passionate, at times intense, man; he is not out of control.

Rife Madson: Feb. 3, 2008 - 8:21 AM EST

However, refusing to support the nominee of your party during the general election, in a time of war no less, is disgraceful.

I am not a republican. I am in independent and I vote based on principles, not the party line. I will vote for a conservative in the primary. In this primary, we have an insidious traitor to conservative principles masquerading as a republican who has all but been been crowned by the mainstream media (including Fox News).

We have an actual conservative who is being championed by most of talk radio (with the exception of Michael Medved), the last bastion for conservative thought in America. I expect nothing less and am thankful for it.

This would not be happening if the republican party wasn’t about to blow its own brains out by turning into the “democrat lite” party. We already have a liberal party in this country. We don’t need to change the republican party into a decaf version of it. I will support a republican ONLY if they are a conservative. If McCain gets the nomination, he will NOT get my vote. He lost any and all hope of ever getting ANY support whatsoever from me when he refused to support the ammendment to define marriage, which even Robert Byrd voted yes on. At some point along the way he has lost someone else’s support with his constant betrayal of conservative principles, whether it be McCain/Feingold, the amnesty bill, or his various flip flops on conservative principles such as abortion, the war in Iraq (yeah, he’s real trustworthy on that, isn’t he?), etc.

McCain will never ever get my vote for anything ever again, and I made that decision years ago. The real problem here is that there are so many people who call themselves republicans who insist on nominating a liberal for the republican candidate. If the repbulican party goes liberal, it will die. And I will not lift a finger to help if that is the case. Better to see the republican party disappear than to watch it become a clone of the democrat party. And I would prefer a democrat in the white house over McCain. At least then when everything goes to crap, the democrats can take the hit and then we’ll have another shot at an ACTUAL CONSERVATIVE candidate shortly thereafter.

NO MORE RINOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROMNEY 2008

Mitt’s supporters are more excited to vote and in states where people think McCain is going to win,his supporters may stay home. There’s definately a conservatice backlash in the works. The media like this story is already writing Romney off. They can’t wait to write his obit and whine about how much money he wasted. The Huckster is stratching the bald spot on his head wondering why conservative voters are going to him instead of Romney. Now the media is flooding print and TV with polls today to demoralize Romney voters. They can’t wait to trash McCain the the general after he gets the nom.

CALIFORNIAMARTY SAYS,
MITT HAS HANDLED BILLIONS IN BUSINESS-OBAMA NEVER RAN A HOT DOG STAND-NOR HAS HILLARY NOR JOHN MCCAIN.-(Huckabee the spoiler is out of work and is a preacher not an economist)
Mitt Romney is first and formost a business genius and an organizational wizard. Start with Massachusetts. He was elected as a Republican to clean up the mess caused by the Democrats. The state was under water. Mitt left it with a giant surplus, and did not raise taxes. That is a fact. Next Mitt was requested to save the most important proof that America was unbowed after 9/11, the Salt Lake City Olympics which was rocked by scandal and underfunded. Mitt fired some, hired some, fought against McCain who tried to cut off funds and won. He then brought the Olympics a huge profit for the first time and oversaw the huge security team that protected the vulnerable and delicious target perfectly. Both as Governor and Olympics CEO he refused salary and even donated 1 million to the games.

Need we mention that Mitt Romney earned legally about 300 million dollars creating and supporting such stellar revenue and job producers as Staples, over 70,000 employees, Timberland, Brookstone and even Domino’s Pizza.

Mitt Romney can make our economy flouish so we will have the means to keep our military the best equipped and cared for in health, insurance, pay and family support ever. No more Katrina messes with Mitt. Mitt as a world traveler in his business knows the ins and outs of our adversaries like China, and India and Russia.

McCain has never worked in the private sector and says himself he knows little about what keeps America the world’s leader, i.e. the economy.

Mitt will be running against

Mitt will be running against either Obama or Clinton- They are two members, along with McCain of the “debating society” called the United States Senate, held now in lower repute than George W. Bush. Why is that?-because they spend most of their time gathering money to run for reelection. They pontificate endlessly on CSPAN to empty senate chambers. They make “quorum calls” and watching them at work is like watching grass grow. They build bridges to nowhere. They pack bills with pork. John McCain says so but he hasn’t done anything about it.
We need a fresh dynamic genius from outside the beltway to fix a broken government. Only Mitt Romney fits that description among the candidates.

Comment by Raphael

Hey Obama, I have to tell you: We torture in this country already. Please put those torturers, and their political supporters, in the prison cells of their victims after your inauguration.

Gonzales and
Mukasey

Let’s consider the reality — not the hype.

The President of the United States must manage a budget of more than two trillion dollars and direct other executives with several million employees. They must determine the foreign policy of the U.S. with help from the Senate. With luck they provide moral leadership to the nation (they don’t make laws). As a minimum, they should have been successful in their previous jobs. They should be reasonably well-educated and intelligent.

Management: Hillary, Obama, and McCain have never managed anything larger than their Senate staff. They have no training in management. Of these, McCain, because he was in the military and an officer would probably look the best of these legislators. Mitt Romney, who has management experience and training — in business, non-profits, and government is probably the most qualified.

Foreign Policy: Hillary and McCain voted for the US to attack Iraq without provocation. They did so because they were ignorant of the realities of the situation. Obama was not in the Senate, so he didn’t face the tough decision. When Hillary and McCain gave approval to a future attack on Iran, Obama was a member of the Senate, but absent. Romney was in Massachusetts, which doesn’t have a foreign policy. None of them are qualified, and the two with proven experience are proven to be incompetent.

Moral Leadership: McCain seems the most honest of the four. Obama comes in second, mainly because he has a tendency to take a position that seems to support both sides of every question. Romney and Hillary actually do take two positions on every question, depending on the day and the audience, and so are not only untrustworthy, but unable to disguise their duplicity.

Success: Hillary was a successful lawyer in Arkansas, but that is hardly New York or Washington, and she was married to the governor and prior to that to the attorney general of Arkansas. As the wife of a president she worked for a national health program and failed. As a Senator she has accomplished nothing of note, excluding the War in Iraq — last year she sponsored several dozen bills, but the only things passed were feel-good, do-nothing fluff. Obama has had fewer years, and done essentially the same. McCain got himself shot down in Vietnam but survived being a prisoner of war. He has done a little more than the other two, but had a lot more time. His military experience didn’t help him see that Iraq was a mistake — or, having seen Iraq, that Iran would be the next mistake. Romney, of the four, is the clear winner. He has been a success in business and at running the Olympics.

Education: Obama and Romney went to Harvard for grad school, Hillary to Yale. McCain graduated very nearly at the absolute bottom of a large class at the Naval Academy. He is not bright enough to be president. Obama and Hillary are trained in law, so they might be able to serve as lawmakers in the Senate. Romney is trained in management, so he is more suited to the executive branch. McCain is suited to retire.

Conclusion: We currently have a president who (1) was a poor student, not extremely intelligent, admitted to Yale and Harvard on the strength of his father and grandfather, (2) a failure in business, (3) a failure as a governor, (4) an ex-alcoholic, (5) had no foreign policy experience and no significant military experience.

Let’s do our homework before we form an opinion.

Here’s the ugly truth about McCain’s record:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-EQUAL PROTECTION: lifelong supporter of affirmative action
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges; also said Alito was too conservative for his liking
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President; publicly considered leaving the Republican Party in 2001 after he lost the primary
-RAW INTELLIGENCE: finished 894 out of 899 in his class in the Naval Academy.
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

They showed our friends and foes alike that we were still in business. If the Olympics being in America is nothing to you then fine. Most in the world love the Olympics and want to watch them and cheer for their country.

The Olympics called on Mitt to save them from the scandals, the refusal to support them led by McCain and to bring in a profit. He did. 100 million in profits and 300 millions raised for security which he oversaw.

You bring up Marriott. Mitt is against porn, and you knew that before you posted your attempted smear. Marriott is not run by Mitt. They do not provide porn in their rooms. Porn must be ordered. You also appear to be a politicklutz. Yes, Rush, and Sean have endorsed Mitt! You obviously don’t listen to what they aren’t saying…doh! And Glenn beck has been embarrassing with his lovefest with Romney. You Mormon’s all stick together, you know? But that’s OK. We Christians tend to stick together, too. We just don’t lie about it.

I’m a Christian. Yet I would never have voted for Pat Robertson! On the contrary, Huckabee is a Christian with a proven record of successful governance. If you did any research on your own and stopped being the “mind-numb robot” many Rush listeners are accused of, you’d see that he did a good job for over 10 years! Romney had the title of Governor for four years but spent the last one running for President. The legislative oats he sowed are sprouting and the evidence shows he ain’t no conservative!

You’re right about me never becoming a Mormon. My God cannot be equaled. The Mormon “god” is just one of many. I hope you make it.

My Jesus will return again but I’m pretty sure it won’t be to Missouri like your “jesus.”

I’m pretty sure God creates a life in the womb, not in some Celestial Kingdom where the lower class are destined to become black skinned so the lilly whites, like Romney, can tell who they are.

My Jesus is the only son of God not just the one who was chosen over his brother Lucifer to be the savior of this world.

My Jesus doesn’t insist that a Mormon woman divorce her Christian husband if she fails to convert him to Mormonism. My Jesus kinda thinks a woman can get to heaven based on her trust in HIM not her husband.

Yeah, these are all truth’s about Mormonism. Maybe you don’t believe them. That’s OK, too. You see, many professing Christians don’t accept the virgin birth of Jesus, either. Yet that doesn’t make them any less wrong.

Am I helping the ignorance? Or are you uncurable?

As a democrat, the way I see it is that if Obama wins, Clinton should be the nominated, and if Clinton wins, Obama should be nominated. I say this because both bring a great deal to the political table, and both of them have a firm understanding about what they want to see happen in America. You have to remember that no candidate is perfect, and I know no one expects that, however putting out a candidates faults and lifting up another candidates campaign makes me wonder exactly how far people are willing to go because in the end, each of us are only one person and no matter how strongly we may feel about a candidate, we have to accept the facts-each candidate has their flaws, and each candidate has his/her strenght, but what we have to do as the voters is really examine each candidate past their political party, past their race, and past their gender. You need to examine yourselves and understand where you as an individual are on these topics and issues, and vote for the candidate that upholds these same standards. Right off the top, I was an Obama fan myself, but I had to realize that he may not stand behind the same beliefs I have and may not share the same visions for America that I do. I just encourage everyone to really look at the facts, and not be so caught up in the dirty play that the candidates have created and stay focused on the issue at hand which is the lost dream of America.

OBAMA IS THE WORST NIGHTMARE FOR THIS COUNTRY-A TAXER,
OBAMA IS A SOCIALISTIST APPEASER WITH NO BUSINESS EXPERIENCE-A DISASTER LIKE JIMMY CARTER WHO GOT US HOSTAGES IN IRAN AND 20 PERCENT INTEREST RATES-SAY NO TO OBAMA

What in the world are we thinking to hand the country over to Barak Obama? This man, the most liberal in his one year in Washington before he had the cheek to decide that he should be president. How could he believe the country would elect a man who had never run any business of any kind when the business of America and its strength and leadership is based on BUSINESS? He is not JFK whose father was FDR’s choice for Ambassador to England, who wrote a Pulitzer Prize winning book explaining the beginnings of WWII, and was a Congressman and Senator and world traveler before running. He is a “community organizer” from a district that sent him to the Illinois Senate where he punted on 170 votes of importance. Where is his foreign experience. 4 years as a child in Indonesia. Where is his military service? Not even ROTC so he hasn’t got that advantage to crow about. He is another Jimmy Carter, an appeaser, an isolationist, weak on fighting terrorists and Hitler like butchers. No NO!

Comment by Mike

To Jay;
So you think forcing people to pay for health plan is better than developing a plan that allows people to decide if they want her plan or someone else’s plan is good. Do you think her plan bans illegal’s from getting health care and are you prepared to pay for their coverage? There was an article in the Wall Street Journal dated January 5, 2008 titled “A Question for Hillary” with regards to New York’s health care where they banned outside plans from being an option that was at lower costs.
What’s the difference between killing an unborn child versus killing someone convicted of a crime? Who is looking out for the child who has no say in the decision? If she was so much for drug crimes why that is when her husband was President we spent all of that money with no results? As for Obama smoking cigarettes I smoke and I don’t feel that it’s A politicians right to tell me what I can and can’t do especially considering smoking isn’t illegal. Just as I hear these politicians say that cigarette smokers are going to fund the S-chip plan, yet they want to get rid of cigarettes so who will pay then? The government receives approximately 50 billion dollars from the tobacco industry each year, so where are they going to make up for that lost revenue if they put tobacco companies out of business not to mention the jobs that will be lost that trickles down to many other industries. And where do you think she is going to get all of this money to build new schools, because that’s the only way to reduce class sizes?
As far as the no child left behind why any child should not be given the same opportunity to get an education? Maybe the problem is the teachers who fail to teach everyone.
And my final question to you is that if all this was so important to her then why didn’t she introduce legislation in last 7 or 8 years to confront these problems? And if she did it wasn’t loud enough for anyone to listen and do you actually think she will get support from Congress to initialize her ideas?

Jay,

Frederick didn’t cut through the hype, he just changed it a little.

Romney’s business claim to fame was with Bain Venture Capital. They bought large companies and sold off the pieces putting a lot of people out of work. Yes, he can make money. But his actual record of governing is miserable and tends strongly toward liberalism.

CaliforniaMarty,

You underestimate your candidate. He has a lot of power as a board member with Marriott! In fact, he’s so influential, you think he’s qualified to be President…that’s of the United States. Not to be confused with President of the Mormon Church. I’ve never figured out that title…

You say Marriott doesn’t provide porn? By your measure, neither do prostitutes! They just offer a service for a price. It’s all about that ‘choice’ thing, I guess…

I don’t hate Mormon’s. In fact, I’ve made a concerted effort, on a couple of occasions, to keep a couple of indoctrinated young missionaries from spending eternity separated from the true God.

Let’s just be honest about what is said about both Christianity and Mormonism. I have a good friend in Tampa who was once a Mormon priest. Then Jesus got a hold on him and he gave his life to the real Christ. Mormon’s aren’t Christians. That’s simple enough, isn’t it?

Skip, that’s why I said he tried to look beyond the surface.

Mike: yes, no, I bet, I support abortion and the death penalty, come to Arkansas and see the meth houses shut down, it should be in public not because of health issues, but because of the annoying stench. Smoke at home, not when I’m eating a meal. From the failed NCLB, which doesn’t let everyone get an equal education. It forces teaching to the test or else you lose funding, resulting in poorer teaching for poorer schools. She did vote on many of these issues. Yes, she could.

Gosh, that was all?

Skipp,

The fact is that Huckabee has absolutely NO chance of winnnng anything outside of a few states the South and he has no money to run against McCain to win the nomination. He is no fiscal conservative and will not unite the base with his populist tax and spend message. Any disagreements here???? His positions on things like immigration and tuition breaks to illegals are not acceptable the Republican base. Huckabee has not challenged the most liberal Republican condidate in the race — McCain. Use your brain my friend!!! What does Huckabee’s pandering for McCain’s support tell you about what is going on??? A little straight talk for you my friend…..Huckabee is no friend to the Republican base and the effect of a vote for Huckabee is to make McCain the nomiee in the general election. We are playing with fire and the fact is that McCain will win the nomination unless Hucakabee drops out or folks like you thinking about voting for him wake up. Any disagreements here?????? Any vote for Huckabee puts McCain as our nominee and Obama and Clinton take the Whitehouse in ‘08. I am 100% correct on this and if we do not wake up and figure out what is happening here folks — it is over for the Republicans in ‘08.

Here is the dirty big secret that Dick Morris, the Democrats and liberal media do not want McCain and Huckabee supporters to understand until AFTER the Republican primary is over:

1. a vote for Huckabee at this point in the race is in “efffect” a vote for McCain. Huckabee cannot win the primary and is almost out of money. This is a FACT and cannot be disputed — just goto the Real Clear Politics website and see how Huckabee is dividing the base giving liberal McCain the win even in Southern states that McCain has no business winning.

2. a vote for McCain in the Primary is a vote for Obama or Clinton in the general election.

McCain cannot win the general election and McCain knows that without the base of the Republican party he, like Dole before him, will loose. The base will never support liberal McCain. Anyone voting on super Tuesday and beyond who is considering McCain or Huckabee needs to think long and hard about the impact of their vote. If you prefer President Obama or Clinton over Romney, then vote for McCain or Huckabee my friends.

ALL REPUBLICANS NEED TO FLOOD THE INTERNET WITH THIS MESSAGE, SHARE AND DEBATE IT WITH MCCAIN AND HUCKABEE SUPPORTERS AND TAKE BACK OUR PARTY………WE CAN WIN THE WHITEHOUSE IN ‘08!! GO MITT!!!!

Skip,

I’ll say it again. You definitely don’t know what you are talking about when it comes to Mormonism. Stick to the facts and not your personal bigotry.

Comment by CALIFORNIAMARTY

Skip- Nothing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is secret. Go to any Ward meeting on Sunday anywhere in the United States or in the 160 countries that 13 million members attend and watch. You are welcome to attend if you had an ounce of knowledge about the LDS church you would know that.
You have confused secret with Sacred. The Temples of the church are open to public viewing when built and then only Lds in good standing can enter thereafter. Why. BECAUSE THEY ARE SACRED…THE HOUSE OF GOD that is what Mormons believe.
If your theology is different fine, but that is America where everyone has the right to worship in their own way. Those who cannot live with that and attack othes on theology are bigots…those who post or speak out with lies or mischaraterizations of anothers religion are both ignorant and bigots.

Huckabee knew what he was doing. He is an ordained Preacher who studied the gospel of Jesus Christ and knew that his comments were not only false but were devisive and basically unchristian.
That is why Huckabee to me is not fit to be POTUS. He to me is an out of work preacher, who was caught in many unethical actions in his own state and sanctioned for at least one. He pardons murderers and rapists and charges his own church 10 grand for a speech. He is a snake oil huckster and spoiler looking for scrapes from McCain. If McCain wins the nomination, Huckabee will benefit in some way, watch you will see.

Huckabee is not good enough to shine Mitt Romney’s shoes.

Skip, I’m disappointed that you would resort to ad hominem attacks instead of discussing the issues. I am a senior at Yale University. Of the LDS population here, you have roughly equal numbers of Hillary, Obama, and Romney supporters. The senate majority leader is both a Mormon and a Democrat. LDS people vary widely in political beliefs. We don’t “stick together,” rather, we respect each other’s right to vote for whom we believe will do the best job. I don’t care what religion the President is, I will join hands with anyone who will work to make this country a better place. I hope that even if you and I aren’t the same religion, we can have enough tolerance and compassion for each other and the world to put our differences aside and go to work. The world has enough issues - let’s not create more by fighting amongst ourselves.

Skipp,

The fact is that (unlike McCain who opposes a federal marriage amendment to protect traditional martriage and prohibit gay marriage — the same McCain that you will help make the party nominee by your Huckabee vote) Governor Romney has been a strong opponent of gay marriage.

“While the GOP glitterocracy attended the first gay wedding of one of their own, Gov. Romney was in Washington, D.C., making the single most eloquent and articulate defense of our traditional understanding of marriage I have heard from an American politician” - Maggie Gallagher is president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, which sponsors http://www.marriagedebate.com. See, http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/gallagher200406250924.asp

Here’s Gov. Romney’s estimate of the future: “[C]hanging the definition of marriage to include same-sex unions will lead to further far-reaching changes that also would influence the development of our children. For example, school textbooks and classroom instruction may be required to assert absolute societal indifference between traditional marriage and same-sex practice.”

Do you disagree with Governor Romeny on his position on this? or do you prefer Mccain’s position.

Mike,
Forcing people to get insurance is not a bad thing. At least everyone is covered especially for major problems which can be very costly. As far as us paying for it, we already pay for all of those that are not covered so what difference does it make. Her plan for undocumented people will make it to where the businesses that hire them will have to cover them.

I like your comments Jay. Go Hillary! I wonder if Obama is going to dig up JFK and Jackie? Maybe prop them up beside him and Michelle? If someone is so against the “establishment” then someone please tell me why he would recruit the oldest “establishment” in America? I am still scratching my head over this one. The Kennedy’s have been out of the spotlight for a while. Unless one of them has killed again or been pulled over for drunk driving? Maybe I am wrong. Funny thing is…when Hillary gets nominated…and we all know she will…what will the kennedy’s do then? Go back into their holes because really…who are they now? Does anyone even know them anymore?

Comment by Jay

Lori, which highlights a possible plus to her package. Many hospitals are out for the care given to those that refuse to pay, give false information, etc. This may actually deal with that as everyone will have insurance or money will exist to pay for their visit. We already deal with the burden, this may actually lessen it AND lower costs from inflated insurance.

The only drawback, is there’s no longer an illusion of choice in this matter. I’m willing, however, to give up a choice of IF I get insurance so that we can all know we have it.

I truely believe that Hillary is the only candidate with the intellegence, experience and the Passion about what it takes to be the BEST President.
Obama can’t decide if he’s black, white, for or against gun control, or even smart enough to run his own campaign. He couldn’t even speak right until Oprah & her crew taught him! And sorry but having Kennedy & Kerry behind him also shows that Losers really want him to win. Maybe it’ll make them feel better if he does win since they couldn’t!!!
My husband & I are both voting for Hillary and I have a LARGE family and all of them are voting for Hillary.
People get smart & look behind what some of ya’ll think is Obama’s Pretty words. He has nothing to give this Country at this time in his life. Maybe Lori is right and he’ll be better by 2016??

Vote Hillary if you want this Country out of the Buss mess that it is in. She knows what to do & how to do it.

Texans Love Hillary!!

Hey Californiamarty - I do agree with the principle of what you’re saying, but I don’t think that calling such people the scum of the earth is Christlike either. As frustrating it is to hear one’s religion maligned in the media, we must - and indeed are commanded - to turn the other cheek and respond with compassion. Christ himself endured terrible persecution and responded with meekness and love. Have you ever heard the quote - a man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still? We can argue until we’re blue in the face. But only the Spirit of God will ever soften hearts, and if we are so busy calling them names that we can’t feel the Spirit ourselves, we’ll never get anywhere.

All we can do is live our lives in such a way that when bad things are said of us, no one will believe them. Please join me in this endeavor.

Peace.

Reading the comments posted has bothers me to hear so much bashing by “so called Christians” that try to cut Mitt Romney for his faith. He has tried to keep his religion out of it and focus on his values that others share with him. Or do these “so called Christians” really have values that they project as so superior. I don’t understand Romney’s change on Abortion, but I know his mother was for the right, thought she was never a believer of the rightness of that choice. There is a big difference how much the government controls the choices of others and what your choices are. The fact that Romney later grew to feel uncomfortable with that stand, never changed that he never was for abortion in his core beliefs. I think Mormons are a lot more liberal in their beliefs of values does not mean they have any right to control others. At least being raised Mormon, is how I was taught.

I hate this negative hatred against Romney, I don’t think is very Christian. I want a president that will represent our country in a respectable manner. I think he can do it.

Michael, you never know. It is interesting that Obama cannot stand on his own. He has his wife, Oprah, Maria Shriver, Ted Kennedy, that other Kennedy that you never hear from, his dog, the two cats from across the street.

I can’t help but recall all the screaming when it was just Bill Clinton for Hillary. Everyone said she couldn’t do it herself, she was weak, etc. No one’s saying that about Obama when he has many, many more people he’s propping up.

It really makes you wonder about this election.

well skip,
you are right about romney and marriott, they will do what they can to make money or become elected. However, you ranting that mormons are not christians is unbelievable. We are. christ is my saviour, and we believe the bible to be the full word of god. the only difference between your christians and mormons is your church beleives god once spoke to man, and we believe he still does, what kind of god would he be to leave us in darkness without his word as the times and the world changes around us? we need modern revelation, with apostles and prophets like the original church christ established in the bible, and he said this was his church, with apostles, prophets, and evengelists
But just because Romney is mormon i still do not agree with his views on politics, the church has no stance on politics, and BYU, the church’s private university, got busted majorly for printing pro romney letters on BYU letterheads. our church still has nothing to do with romney

Skipp,

Your are either misguided or being dishonest about Governor Romney’s RECORD on abortion and gay marriage. I trust that you are an honest man and just a bit misguided. To assist with the truth, the following is Governor Romney’s statement and RECORD … facts are stubborn things my friend…

“The first battle came when the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, by a one vote majority, found a right to same sex marriage in our constitution. John Adams wrote that constitution. I’m sure he’d be surprised.

“The Court said that traditional marriage – the natural union of one man and one woman – ‘is rooted in persistent prejudices’ and ‘works a deep and scarring hardship … for no rational reason.’

“No rational reason? How about children? Isn’t it clear that marriage provides the best environment for the development and nurturing of children? And isn’t a child’s development enhanced by having both a mother and a father?

“I believe that the Court got it wrong because it focused on the desires and perceived rights of adults.

“The Court should have focused on the needs of children. The ideal setting for the raising of a child is a home built on a marriage between a loving mother and father.

“Then came the ’slippery slope’ – not the argument but the reality.

“The implications of the marriage decision quickly went well beyond adult marriage. Efforts were made to change birth certificates by removing ‘mother’ and ‘father’ and replacing them with ‘parent A’ and ‘parent B.’ I said no to that. And parents of a child in second grade were told that their son is required to listen to the reading of a book called the ‘King and the King,’ about a prince who marries another prince. The school’s rationale was since same sex marriage was legal, the education system should advance the idea.

“And then another slide along the slippery slope. The Catholic Church was forced to end its adoption service, which was crucial in helping the state find homes for some of our most difficult to place children. Why? Because the Church favors placements in homes with a mother and a father. Now, even religious freedom was being trumped by the new-found ‘right’ of gay marriage. I immediately drafted and introduced legislation to grant religious liberty protection, but the legislature wouldn’t even take it up.

“When I was Governor, we took every conceivable step within the law to stop, block or slow down this unprecedented court decision.

“Our goal was to take the decision away from the Court and give it back to the people. But yesterday, the Massachusetts state legislature, at the urging of the new Democratic Governor, refused to allow the voice of the people to be heard.

“The fight is not over.

“W
