Bastards, Pot and Passing Out — Oh, and a Hillary Clinton Rally

Hillary Clinton’s St Louis rally included a woman calling President Bush a “Bastard,” two folks passing out from the heat, lots of coughing from the candidate, and a soundtrack featuring a version of campaign staple “Taking Care of Business” that included the lead singer yelling “make some noise, this is a pot festival.” But it also included one of Senator Clinton’s most impassioned arguments about why she’d make the best Democratic nominee.

One questioner said she believed Hillary would make the best president, but that she was “just really scared” about her electability. Sen Clinton called on the woman to have faith. “If you think I would be the best president, you have to believe I can demonstrate that to the rest of the country.” Her critics claimed she could never win her Senate race in New York in 2000, she said — but she trusted the voters and pulled through in a tough battle (maybe an overstatement — her opponent, Congressman Rick Lazio, was universally regarded as a pretty poor candidate).

As for that other guy she’s running against today? “My opponent hasn’t had to go through that kind of baptism by fire,” she said. “I think in a general election, you know what’s going to happen to whoever we nominate. Lets not kid ourselves. It will be open season once again. We need to nominate someone with experience and fortitude and know-how to take whatever they throw at us and send it right back.”

She said she knows when to find common ground, and when to stand her ground — a common line on the trail that she used to bash Obama as a uniter without a purpose. “There are a lot of bad ideas out there,” she said. “I don’t think we want unity for the sake of unity. We want unity for the kind of progress that will move our country forward.”

And stealing a line from her husband, Clinton said “I may be a little battle scarred, but think of me in the same way you’d think of somebody who had to conduct a serious operation on somebody you loved. Think about that. Think about somebody who has been through it, who’s not only survived but thrived.”

And as for that “bastard reference,” Hillary smiled as the woman continued her question — a diatribe about whether Mexico and the US were conspiring to create a super-country — but never said a word for or against the statement. Instead, she said if such an agreement were in place, when she’s president she’ll end it in “a bird-dog minute.”

Seems like Hillary must have forgotten the fact that her husband has already signed the NAFTA deal and she doesn’t oppose illegal immigration. Also if this was a “pot festival” did anyone inhale?
She changes her views on topics so much that I have lost track on how many times she has claimed distorted facts against her yet we see that those facts are in fact true. It’s clearly obvious that her views are only for votes otherwise she would tell us what her plans really involve just as her papers from her husbands administration have yet to surface for us to see the truth about what she claims.

The contempt for president bush is disgusting. For a candidate for presidency to allow such a display of words is pathetic. She should be ashamed, but i know that’s a stretch of the imagination for a Clinton to know shame. I think Americans are naive to assume that shuffling the chairs in Washington is going to bring about any real change. A year into the next presidency we’re gonna find out that the faults of this nation fall squarely at the feet of congress. Let us not forget that there are three separate branches of power withing government. I admit bush has made some mistakes but lets be realistic Hillary was there rooting for those same mistakes when they were made. Heck i bet if bush was going for a third term he’d sound an awful lot like hillary does as far as the war in Iraq and on terror is concerned. Bear that in mind when you vote for yet another washington insider. She reeks of corruption and a life not lived not for others but for the attainment of power. I fear this more than anything else. A public figure, self-serving and only desiring to ingrain herself in our great history.

Comment by Jay

So, Josh, you expect absolute respect for Bush…then you completely do all you can to demonize Clinton. Which are you wanting, Josh? Respect for candidates and politicians, or more constant politicking?

Comment by Jay

Oh and Mr. Bruns, why were you assigned to Clinton? You clearly hate her in an unprofessional manner. Was there not a producer on your “team” that would cover Clinton with a little less bias? I realize you’re Fox News, but you could pretend to have a little decorum.

Ironically, just one post down, a positive, almost glowing Obama post exists. It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Comment by Josh

I’m wanting respect for the office of the president. I will not slander Clinton if that is who the people say they want come election time: not out of respect for her but out of respect for the office of the president. People who call Bush these absurd names are only demeaning the office of the President.

Comment by Tildawen

Vote Obama!!! Clintons will just send more of our jobs overseas and get us another of the so called GREAT NAFTA at least China is doing well.

Comment by Jay

Josh, so respect only should come for those who win office? You can trash those who don’t? What about Senators? Can you trash them, too?

Tildawen, good job looking forward.

Comment by Josh

btw i mean no disrespect by this question but how is hillary the most experience candidate for president? i hear everyone claiming she has 35 years of experience. doing what? I’m no obama fan but i do cede the fact that he has held elected office longer than Mrs. Clinton. So those touting her experience please inform me what she has championed.

Comment by Josh

critisize the man in a respectful manner. if not respecting of him respecting of his office. lets not act like hillary hasn’t sent her barrage of hit men after obama trying to dig up any and everything about him then making snide comments about race.

Comment by Jay

Also, Tildawen, your ignorance of the economy is outstanding. China’s doing well, not because of our jobs moving (thanks to a Bush tax credit for outsourcing). We have mostly moved our business to India and Mexico — which is much cheaper.

I realize that you probably failed geography, and think Vietnam is in South America, but confusing China with India and Mexico? That’s just horrible.

Comment by Jay

Josh, you’re attacking the Senate when you attack Clinton. Have some respect!

Comment by Tildawen

Jay

I meantioned China at the end while remembering an article I read http://www.ktvu.com/news/14046563/detail.html?iref=topnews

Comment by Josh

excuse me but i didn’t call her a b**** (the basic equivalent of what she allowed bush to be called). If i have demeaned her office as senator my most sincere apologies. She voted for the war in Iraq she sat in on the same intelligence hearing others in the senate did yet now she acts like it didn’t happen. btw senator clinton isn’t from my district so i owe her zero respect. if she’s president its a different case. its the president of the united states, not only new york.

Comment by Jay

Tildawen, nice try. Hsu was busted for a personal ponzi scheme, and he should have been. However, giving money to a campaign does not mean that Clinton or any other politician is corrupt by association. After all, if she were, then Mr. Rezko would mean that Obama is corrupt. They had an equally long relationship along with some inappropriate benefit to Obama in the form of discounted housing.

Comment by Jay

Josh, you made her seem like she was somehow evil. That degrades her, and by your logic, degrades her office and the entire Senate.

My point is that this is hilariously bad. Insulting Bush does not insult the entire institution. If so, the countless people who insult Bill Clinton would also deserve the wag of your finger.

Comment by Josh

only the office of junior new york senator.

Comment by Josh

and yes those who call bill clinton things like that do deserve the wag of the finger.

Comment by Jay

Oh, so only certain offices deserve your respect? A woman who worked 8 years in the Senate doesn’t deserve your respect, but a man working 8 years in the White House does? When do we start respecting Senators? Representatives? Cabinet members? Or only when they have -R next to their name?

Comment by Jay

Tildawen, you know that old picture of the guy from your birthday party? He’s standing next to you. Well, he’s a crack dealer. That means that you’re also a crack dealer.

What? You didn’t know him, he’s just standing next to you? Well, that’s a lie! Clearly!

Comment by Tildawen

Thats a brilliant come back Jay…lmao

Comment by Jay

Come back? It’s the truth. You’re smiling, he’s smiling. You’re clearly best friends, and you’re a crack dealer! You have no right to hold the position you hold, the things you do, you have no right! You should be ashamed of yourself.

Absurd, isn’t it? That’s why the last thing I consider is these silly scandals. For any candidate, even if I am not voting for Obama. I don’t care about his former life. Same with Clinton.

Comment by Jay

Tildawen, do you support Obama?

Comment by Tildawen

If McCain gets nomination which every media is shoving it down our throats, Yes, I would vote for Obama.

Comment by Mike

To Jay;
To first give respect one must earn respect and lying constantly and blaming others for their failure doesn’t constitute respect. By the way what has she exactly done for the American people in her 8 years as Senator? Or better yet what has she done in the last 35 years? Only those who refuse to justify their claims of experience when the papers she refuses to release just proves she has something to hide.

Comment by Jay

Well, that says enough.

Comment by Jay

Mike, as a Senator you work for your state. Not the entire people of the US. And she has worked rather hard to bring attention to the 9/11 emergency worker’s needs.

In the last 35 years? She’s been a pretty big proponent of education reform in a time where we’re failing our children. She also voted many times to end the war so far. The main one was vetoed by Bush. She’s also been pretty helpful in securing funds for sciences like nanotechnology. She’s attempted to pass legislation to allow better health care access, usually defeated by Republicans. She’s been an outspoken critic of the failed No Child Left Behind. She’s worked on various committees since she began, and has chaired one.

She’s been a big proponent of college scholarships, many of which Bush is cutting soon.

That’s just to name a few. If respect is given to those who earn it, what right do you have to judge who has earned it for us all? You have no right to do that, Mike. You are not the collective mind of America.

Comment by Marge Balistrere

THERE’S ALWAYS AN ASS-HOLE IN EVERY CROWD. SO DONT GO BLAMING HILLARY. YOU DUMB ASSES WILL SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE— GET A LIFE!!! GO HILLARY!!!!!!

Comment by Mike

To Jay;
Had she not voted for the war she wouldn’t have to vote against it. Do you forget that the Levin bill for which she voted against gave the inspectors the right to do their job? And to just correct your analogy that she is to work for her home state that is why each state has its own State Senate and House of Representatives. She is a US Senator which means she works for the people of the United States. I think you need to read up more on your Civics lessons before trying to clarify something that ridiculous. As to the rest of your comments, looks like you recited Hillary word for word but still there is no proof of experience. I would also assume that you are from New York and the only thing I see her doing for you is to try and have the rest of America pay for her “Hippy Museum”

Comment by Jay

Mike, you really should stop while you’re ahead.

Hillary was clear both at the time of voting, and now, what her intent was. She wanted to give Bush the latitude to threaten Iraq, but she did not intend for him to attack immediately. She simply wanted him to have the ability then, but hoped he would show restraint. He did not.

Her vote for the Levin bill was because the language sounded like we were holding ourselves to the UN — something America should never do. We should not decide our policy by the UN.

Both votes were in a margin that Clinton’s vote would not have swayed the outcome.

And now, it’s time for your Civics lesson as you are clearly ignorant of how our government works. Clinton is elected by the people of New York to serve its interests in the senate — that is why we call our government a representative democracy. States vote for representatives of its voice, they come together in Congress, and vote. She is paid through taxes, but she is NOT beholden to the voice of Pennsylvania. She is hired by the people of New York. She represents them. State Congress represents the districts, not the entire state. Please, go back to Junior High and learn this.

No proof of experience? Then, Mike, to whom all things are judged and all minds are linked — what is experience? Please, wise one, tell us.

Comment by Mike

To Marge;
No we don’t have to say anything negative about Hillary, just let her talk and she does it for us. She is nothing but a proven liar that tries to manipulate people like you to believe what ever she says is correct. As is the fact that she claimed her health care plan was being distorted and this morning we hear that she may garnish employer’s wages to force people to buy into her health care plan. Who’s lying to whom?

Comment by Tildawen

You can use google, yahoo, altavista, dogpile, aol, etc search every news and support it with facts. Clintons, sorry to say gets more negative results than Obama. By the way, why did Clinton moved to New York I thought your suppose to represent the people you serve(her original home state) why leave? It’s just like in SC election just get out in a hurry when you know your losing.

Comment by Jay

Tildawen, nice way of judging politicians. Who has more negative websites on Google. It was her decision to go to New York, and she left South Carolina due to another commitment. She thanked her voters, however.

Guess what Obama did to Florida? He sent out a memo mocking their lack of delegates, called their vote hollow and a beauty pageant, and didn’t even bother to thank you to the hundreds of thousands of people that voted for him.

So you want to keep comparing notes, or should I search Google for negative MySpace pages?

Comment by Southern girl

Aaron, Another all time low article. Did you write that article before or after your mom told you that you could not have seconds on dessert?

Comment by Southern girl

Tildawen…Sorry, but that last comment just made no sense at all…

Comment by Tildawen

Search why Florida didnt have any delegatesto to award, which I thought all the candidates agreed to it. Am tired typing. Now go read all about it. Help us make Mitt Romney get elected as the republican nominee, I promise to leave Clintons issues alone. lol

Comment by Jay

Tildawen, so you’re saying it’s OK to mock a linchpin state for the past decade, but it’s not OK to keep another commitment in another state? Goodness gracious, Republicans have a funny way of looking at the world.

And trust me, I’d rather have Romney than McCain. With McCain, Republicans have a chance at winning if the current polls are to be trusted. With McCain, it’s a gamble.

Comment by Dan

John McCain is trying to cheat and lie to win this election. It’s just like when he cheated on his disabled wife and eventually divorced her for his rich, younger mistress.

It’s also like the Keating 5, when McCain cheated the American tax payers out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Since McCain can’t really talk about his senate record (amnesty, against tax cuts, 50 cent gasoline tax, etc.) he tries to play up his “character”. I think his character is despicable. Cheating on and divorcing a crippled wife, wow that bad.

Mitt is going all the way!!!

Spread the word about McCain’s lack of character.

Comment by n. havlik

get real….the super highway from mexico to canada is going to be a fact. i hate to say bush is mostly responsible for this but the liberals and mccain will make sure this comes true. remember mccain is soo liberal not to mention the dems. i agree with dan. swift boating of maccain will be any day now….the clintons already aired most of their dirty laundry while in the whitehouse. too bad but obama is a super lib and has NO experience in any directiion other than law degree, even my x got that and it’s no biggy.

Comment by Tildawen

So, Jay are you saying support Mitt Romney right? Thank, now Ill go watch Super Bowl. Vote Romney!!!

Comment by Norm

“Both votes were in a margin that Clinton’s vote would not have swayed the outcome.” is this how you base your logic jay, claiming the vote was a lost cause.

The fact is she was either naive when she voted (based on current claims of latitude) or actually thought it was the right thing to do. either way is a bad showing for someone running to be president and now claiming opposition to the war she voted for and funded. She can spin it as latitude all day long, it doesn’t change the fact the its a baseless position she is holding.

I understand nuts work their way out of the woodwork at rallies but she could have at least had the decency to correct that person degrading the president, just as i was disapointed when mccain just chuckled at someone referring to clinton as a b****.

Profanity or name calling is the result of a feeble mind trying to express itself forcibly!

I’m disappointed sen clinton didn’t make note that this person was out of place. quit pandering and stand for something. i doubt a minor reprimand would hurt any supporters feelings to the extent so as not to vote for her.

Comment by Jimmy Campbell

Have we all forgotten Hillary’s claim that her husbands tawdry White House affair with an impressionable intern was a right wing conspiracy? She blamed anyone else but Bill. A Secret Service person wished her good morning as she was boarding AF-1 during Bill’s presidency. She told him to F— Off. From then on there was a “no-eye contact policy” where she was concerned. This is how she treated the secret service who were there to guard and protect her life. Is this someone who cares about the little people? Heck no! You better be careful with your vote. I’m a staunch Republican and I have donated to Barack Obama’s campaign. Why? Because he isn’t Hillary. Because he’s not jaded by Washington politics the way Hillary’s “35 years of experience” have jaded her. We need someone new in Washington. We don’t need the same old Bush or Clinton in the White House. If we never vote in anyone new, we will continue to have the same old results we’ve had since 1988. Get smart America! You better learn history or you’re doomed to repeat it.

Comment by Jay

Norm, I did not say that it was a lost cause. I said that Clinton’s vote was not a deciding vote. It was a vote that passed regardless of her voice. It had overwhelming support from Congress.

You want to talk about logic? False dilemma. She was either a or b, when there’s c, d, e, f, and g that are possible. She could have considered war as the last resort, but wanted to give the power just in case — which is what she said on the floor of Congress. Do not have pretense to lecture me about logic when you fail in your own application. In your black and white world, she might have only had two choices. In the real world, she had many.

It was not her job to point out the speaker’s language. Had she done so, you probably would have screeched about censorship. The woman has every right to her opinion in the United States as long as it does not infringe on anyone else’s right to speak.

You then said name calling was a result of feeble minds, but called me a panderer. Make up your mind, Norm. You can’t have your cake, eat it too, and wear it as a hat. If Clinton had reprimanded the woman, the press would have called it censorship. Much like when Clinton’s rally was interrupted by two college boys, and the security of the establishment ejected them.

Stand for something? I do. I stand for the reality of a situation as it exists, not as I would like it to be or not like it was told to me by a candidate.

Comment by Southern girl

Don’t ya’ll think it’s quite obvious that Obama and/or his campaign trojans are the ones sending those immature people into the Clinton’s rallies? He is just trying to get negative publicity to run rampid on Hillary so he can stand there on his pedestal and pretend he is Bible boy! I can hear the church music as I speak now….

Comment by Jay

Jimmy, she called the trial itself a conspiracy. She did not term Lewinsky herself a conspiracy. Also, the “f- off” rumor was proven false as there’s no citation for the claim of it’s author according to Snopes.com. So are the rumors about the Clintons charging SS for rent.

You can see more of these dubious, unnamed sources here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/hildabeast.asp . Some of them are actually from when she was a college student — apparently cursing as an adult is now a bad thing.

So all you have is a rumor e-mail and the idea that curse words are bad? Nice.

Comment by Norm

jay, i didn’t call you a panderer. if you took it as such my apology. the last sentence was directed at all politicians who seem to sacrifice morals when in the presence of a crowd who hold hostile positions against an opponent they (the politician) are against. your just in case clause doesn’t change the fact that she helped enable the war. I feel it is naive to give such authority to one (in this case the president) especially if you are opposed to the effect of the war. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. She along with many others voted for the war now they want that vote back or characterize it as only giving authority as last resort. Regardless, they relinquished their authority to the president and whether or not he acted justly on such authority they (those who authorized it) bear responsibility, in part, for the results. I in no way lectured your logic so don’t feel like i did. I simply asked if the vote not counting was part of the basis of your defense in the given scenario.

Comment by Norm

jay, by reprimand i didn’t say silence, i merely meant indicate she as a responsible politician (i won’t be the judge of her responsibility) should have indicated she didn’t hold the same view as the woman asking the question. i admit reprimand may have been a little harsh or incorrect word for usage in this case.

Comment by Jay

Norm, my “defense” is the words she used when detailing her own vote. It did not happen in a vacuum. She had reasons for her vote, she outlined why, and I accept her at the face value of her words until someone can enter her mind and say “Nope, she meant something else”

She made a clear mistake, in hindsight, but I will tell anyone this. As an independent, given then information I knew, I supported going to war against Iraq. I, too, made a mistake based upon the information given to us by Bush.

I am not, however, a person that goes to war easily. Nor am I suddenly incapable of making any judgments or any sound judgments. I am still a human, and I can still examine a situation and problem solve. The same holds true for Clinton, even if she is a “liar liar pants on fire”.

However, it’s easy for some candidates who never had to vote or make this decision to say “I was against it!” Of course you were, you didn’t have to stand up and make a vote. Even Obama said in a quote that he did not know what decision he would have made if he was actually in Congress.

Comment by Norm

whether your defense be her words or yours, i amply explained how she does bear responsibility for relinquishing her power (no matter how intangible and symbolic it was–to those that say bush would have gone with or without congressional approval) I am by no means an obama supporter. I have not registered republican or democrat, as i don’t care much for the party system. I find myself partial to Romney (i would give the reasons but thats beside the point). Now for those that say bush cooked the books on Iraq, i must say he is as innocent as clinton in that regard. He claims he based his statements on the info of the intelligence community at the time. So lets not make this a bush is the reason our country is facing struggles thing. He could be a factor in it but its clear you support clinton so best of luck to you there, i just however disagree with her stances and don’t care much for the characterization she has allowed to occur regarding obama. It may have been blown out of proportion but she has a responsibility to control her staffers and husband.

Comment by Jay

Here is the quote I referenced: “So it’s not clear to me what differences we’ve had since I’ve been in the Senate. I think what people might point to is our different assessments of the war in Iraq, although I’m always careful to say that I was not in the Senate, so perhaps the reason I thought it was such a bad idea was that I didn’t have the benefit of U.S. intelligence. And, for those who did, it might have led to a different set of choices. So that might be something that sort of is obvious. But, again, we were in different circumstances at that time: I was running for the U.S. Senate, she had to take a vote, and casting votes is always a difficult test.” [The New Yorker, 10/30/06]

Clinton bears the responsibility of her vote, but it did not happen because she wanted war. She made that clear many times. She did it because she wanted Bush to have latitude, but war was the last resort for Clinton.

Comment by Norm

i respect the fact that you take her at her word. I, as i said, am fond of another candidate and don’t feel she brings to the table what i’d like to see in the next pres. I see you are an adamant supporter of hers but theres a difference between debunking others and trying to assert your logical or intellectual superiority over others. This is a country where every citizen gets a vote which and there aren’t literacy tests, this i hold dear in spite of disagreement in moments of weakness.

To Jay;
Yes senators are elected by their states but United States Senators are for the entire US and are paid by the American citizens. They pass bills and legislation that affects all of America. The only thing they represent their states for is all of the pork spending projects. Hence the titles of US SENATOR and State Senator, but if you find a bill passed by Congress that is titled for New York only let me know.
State legislators are paid by the citizens of that state where they pass bills and legislation for that particular state only.

Comment by Joe

First off … lets get this whole vote on the Iraq war thing out there. Hillary Clinton Represented NEW YORK .. who was just attacked by terrorists … she was representing the thoughts of her people … but not only that, If i recall over 80 percent of the American People including myself wanted to march right in based on the intelligence information…. so stop using something against someone when MOST of American’s supported this. Obama wasn’t even a member of congress so why would his position on 9/11 or the war even be taken into account here? It has no merit you can’t use something against someone as far as a voting position when you COULD NOT VOTE FOR OR AGAINST IT…… WHY IS THE MEDIA ALLOWING HIM TO SAY HE VOTED AGAINST THE WAR??? HE HAD NO VOTE. WAKE UP!!!!!

Anyone can easily say there opinion was X … whatever the people want to hear if they didn’t actually have a recorded vote over the issue.

Hillary has been working in the public sector and for causes that matter to people for over 30 years. She places America first over the rest of the world .. i can’t really say the same for her opponent according to his own website here are two in particular that should bother you ALOT

# Expand our Diplomatic Presence: To make diplomacy a priority, Obama will stop shuttering consulates and start opening them in the tough and hopeless corners of the world – particularly in Africa. He will expand our foreign service, and develop the capacity of our civilian aid workers to work alongside the military.
# Fight Global Poverty: Obama will embrace the Millennium Development Goal of cutting extreme poverty around the world in half by 2015, and he will double our foreign assistance to $50 billion to achieve that goal. He will help the world’s weakest states to build healthy and educated communities, reduce poverty, develop markets, and generate wealth.

End poverty around the globe by investing 50 billion in other countries instead of our own to assist the 37 million here living in poverty?

Obama will secure all loose nuclear materials in the world within four years. While we work to secure existing stockpiles of nuclear material, Obama will negotiate a verifiable global ban on the production of new nuclear weapons material. This will deny terrorists the ability to steal or buy loose nuclear materials. YEAH OK DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS IS POSSIBLE ??? LET ALONE HIM WHO NO ONE IN THE WORLD KNOWS .. DOES HE ACTUALLY THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST GONNA HAND IT OVER TO HIM?

Toward a Nuclear Free World: Obama will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons, and pursue it. Obama will always maintain a strong deterrent as long as nuclear weapons exist. But he will take several steps down the long road toward eliminating nuclear weapons. He will stop the development of new nuclear weapons; work with Russia to take U.S. and Russian ballistic missiles off hair trigger alert; seek dramatic reductions in U.S. and Russian stockpiles of nuclear weapons and material; and set a goal to expand the U.S.-Russian ban on intermediate- range missiles so that the agreement is global. SO WHEN WE REDUCE OUR NUCLEAR STOCK PILE WHO THEN BECOMES THE POLICEMEN OF THE WORLD ?? THINK PEOPLE THINK!!

Ensure a Strong U.S.-Israel Partnership: Barack Obama strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship, believes that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, America?s strongest ally in the Middle East. Obama supports this closeness, stating that that the United States would never distance itself from Israel. AND IN DIRECT CONTRADICTION HE ALSO SAYS IN HIS WEBSITE THAT HE WOULD ENCOURAGE THE EMERGENCE OF TWO SEPERATE NATIONS .. A PALESTINE STATE AND AN ISRAELI STATE …

People Its just alarming to me that most of you haven’t even gone to his website and actually been alarmed at the stuff he wants to do .. where he wants to spend our money … and where his “loyalties” actually fall …

He has taken PAC money … he has excepted endorsements by the “status quo” from the “broken washington” he wants to CHANGE …. he votes exactly like 90 percent of the status quo … I mean this man is the poster child for the phrase “Hello Pot .. meet kettle” He is the biggest Hypocritical Politician to run for office since Nixon.

When it comes down to it you have to vote your conscious but I really hope people actually do some digging into the candidate instead of voting for them because they talk pretty or Oprah says to.

By the way WOMEN should be outraged that he is evening embracing the Ted Kennedy endorsement .. do you all not remember the womanizing drunk? you know the one who had a woman drown in his car in 3 feet of water ??? I mean HELLO do you all need some smelling salts … Women should be running so far away from this endorsement based on that over anything else!

Comment by Joe

OH yeah one other thing …. its interesting that much of his foreign policy mentions specifically Africa … almost like reading his church’s website that places Africa first. So lets see are we electing the president of Africa .. or the President of the United States… I for one would prefer to see a president who specifically mentions investment in this country when we are up the creek without a paddle right now. I want the 90s back … and sorry to say while Obama was admittedly snorting Coke …. I think the Clinton’s were doing a fine job leading this nation.

Comment by Mike

To Joe;
So your defense is that as American’s we shouldn’t help those who are deprived because we as American’s shouldn’t care about our fellow man. Or that we shouldn’t try to make the world safer for all and reconcile our differences with enemy states. That is the exact thinking that has caused the rest of the world to dislike America and deny our policies because as a Country we demand other countries to adopt our policies. Who gave the United States the right to dictate how another country should live. It has been our arrogance towards the world that has caused other countries to dislike the United States.
If not for the rest of the world this country wanted even exist. What if the rest of the world said you can’t have our oil or next time you want to go to war then don’t ask for our help? In order for diplomacy to even work you must learn to talk with other countries and understand their way of life. Where would this country be if China decided that the US pays them all the money we owe them right now? Or the rest of the countries stopped bailing out our financial institutes. God didn’t create just the United States he created the entire world and the sooner we understand that the sooner we can live as equals in place of enemies.

As to your remarks about Kennedy I think you have forgotten the fact that Bill Clinton is one of the biggest womanizers there is.

Comment by Dan

Here’s the ugly truth about McCain’s record:

-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants

-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)

-EQUAL PROTECTION: lifelong supporter of affirmative action
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work

MR MIKE ….

Leave Bill out of this he isn’t running for President and I really don’t think what he is or isn’t matters.

For your information it is our foreign policy and funding the rest of the world that has gotten us into this situation …. MY POINT IS .. it is our duty to fix this country not support the rest of the world.

I don’t give a rats ass if you hate the Clinton’s or not I am quite sure that most of the people around you had a much better existance in the 1990s than they have right now .. thank you Bill Clinton.

Now let me pose a question to everyone here because I think this is a very important question and I am sure that I am not the only one who has concerns about this:

Lets say Obama does get the nomination (lord help us if this is the case). Is anyone else concerned at the probable assassination attempt and maybe success by white supremacy groups?? I mean they do still exist and IF they succeed in an assassination attempt what will that do to our country? The racial tension that would result from something like this would absolutely destroy what little foundation this country has left. Does this concern anyone else?

I mean we are talking mass riots … extreme racial segregation probably would set the civil rights movement back to the stone age. Is there anyone else who doesn’t want to see this happen? I mean I don’t wish ill on anyone but you all have to know that something like this will take place … if you think the Islamic world is radical i don’t think you have seen the hate from the deep south and white supremacy. This is a very real threat.

Don’t get me wrong he gives a pretty speech but thats no reason to elect him, the only thing i see in his proposed policies are reasons NOT to elect him. Then when you think of what potentially could happen I definately don’t want him in office

Point taken on Bill Clinton being a womanizer even though he is not running for office .. but no one mysteriously drowned while in his car in 3 feet of water ….. Murder??? OMG no never … a Kennedy would never do such a thing.

joe, i agree with her iraq war vote however i disagree with her trying to spin her position into not originally being for war. She authorized it, she’s part responsible for it. The iraq war vote is huge because now she abdicating leaving the country. How responsible is that. If your gonna start a war, you better stick around until its finished. I can respect obama because he has done the dance around the vote thing. he stated he was against it but ceded that if he were a sitting senator his vote could have been different. that said he’s got a lot more ground to stand on than she does in that case because he was vocally against it while she (and bill) seemed rather supportive of the vote. I admit i may have prejudices against her but this charade only re-enforces them.

The Clinton’s did in fact do some good things during the 90’s, but they also did more damage to the Democratic Party than anyone else I can think of in my lifetime. Consider the following.
When Bill Clinton took office we had a Democratic majority in the House, the Senate, and we had a Democratic President. The President was handed a Golden Goose and like all things we approach had the task of leaving in better shape than when he fot it. By the time the Clinton’s antics had run their course we lost control of the House, the Senate, and ultimately the Presidency, leaving nothing to stand in the way of the Republicans, which eventually gave us the net result we have now.
He took a Golden Goose and turned it into a Delapidated Chicken, in almost record time. Most people I know wouldn’t let someone who Lied Under Oath, and was proved to be a Sexual Pervert in their own home, but still there are those that would put a person like this in the White House again? I don’t get it. OBAMA ‘08!

He was handed a golden goose ?? are you kidding me Bush left us with a recession. Ken have you read anything on his website … its all pro everyone else but America on almost everything! This country can’t afford to carry the rest of the world anymore we are in sad shape people need to open there eyes. The only reason it sends up a red flag is if you go to his church website it specifically says Africa is FIRST above anything else when it comes to its “causes”…. so his website specifically mentioning africa ( not the fact he is black) bothers me.

NORM .. my point on that is … he has no business using the “i was against the war card” when he wasn’t a member of congress. This whole nation .. given the facts that were shoved down our throat was for going to war. whats funny is her position has never changed .. I found her response nothing but honest … she voted based on the “facts that were presented them”. As would anyone .. why this is somehow her twisting her position is beyond me.

Clinton did not cause the loss of the House of Representatives .. it was already losing democratic seats since the reagan years … by the time Clinton was elected it was within a few seats of flipping. By the way generally congressional seats beginning slipping against the Adminstrations party …

its funny how he doesn’t use the “race card” however Anti-white racist Oprah and a rap/hip hop video have come out in his corner …. but he isn’t about race or appealing to that sector of the “white” community who somehow thing they are more black than they are white .. i think you all know the ones i am talking about. I mean this rediculous support based on his skin color, the fact he knows how to deliver a speech and how “hot” he just floors me …. NONE of this voting constituency even knows the direction he would take us .. and thats what scares me .. yeah I think its great that these people are actually voting .. but I think I would rather them stay home and not vote rather than vote for someone because there is a hip/hop video about him or Oprah said so. The rediculous think is if he does win the nomination … the reality is this surge in the youth vote will think they have done their civic duty for the year and go back to smoking their crack pipe on on Novemeber 2nd when McCain kicks his ass in the General election they are gonna be like “dude i voted for Obama how come he isn’t president” and then they will think there vote doesn’t matter and never vote again.

I see nothing but trouble in this nomination … I am applying for a permenant Work Visa with the UK and will apply for citizenship … I would rather not remain on the sinking ship … I just can’t believe how totally oblivious people are about the situations this country faces … We are nearly past the point of no return and if people don’t wake up and actually look into who actually can do this country good we are gonna be in sad sad shape.

The middle class is shrinking fast, people who make more than 97,500 dollars are not taxed on income above that amount … things are not fair in this country and We the People are about to support someone because of the stupidest reasons .. it makes me embarassed to say I am an American.

I had a great income in the 90s … well into the six figures .. i don’t even come close to that now .. and I was not a DOT com business person …. I want that success back and Obama is not the one to deliver it.

Comment by HILLARY08

I could not agree more … Hillary is the only candidate that will receive my vote. If she isn’t on the ticket .. I will jump ship and vote for McCain .. even though he is more of the same at least i know exactly what to expect with him … a continued presence in Iraq and probably World War 3 but thats more appealing than racial unrest in the USA

To Joe;
It’s that same belief you have that has crippled this country. If it were not for people of other countries there would not be a United States. I get the feeling that you have bigger issues, namely racist and hatred beliefs and maybe shouldn’t be living here or anywhere else in this world. American’s didn’t build this country we just claimed it so let me know just where your country is?
As for running for President I don’t know if either Hillary or Bill knows which one is running.

joe you must be the exception becuase myself and everyone i know (we are all middle class making from 30,000-80,000 annually) have experienced an increase both in net and gross wages during the bush years. My Dad, hardly a bush fan has stated during the Reagan years he did well, during the clinton years he did ok but bled out in taxes and during the bush years has once again began to do well both net and gross. Hes not loaded or part of this illusive privileged upper class. He runs a clothing store and works hard for what he gets. The bush tax cuts have certainly made a difference for him and my family. Unless making over 30,000 a year is rich, i’d say the bush tax cuts have greatly benefited the middle class. I’m sick of the class warfare rhetoric of hillary and her claims to 35 years of experience. She’s only held elected office for 8 years and has had many a questionable vote that have taken a lot of defend. so don’t start on how your opinion of a sinking ship is the only opinion.

For your information .. you are an idiot .. I am a gay white male .. I know what hatred is first hand because i live it every single day of my life … I have marched in civil rights causes in three different states …. I have many black friends and even friends from middle eastern countries.

I am proud of my family heritage, which stems back to royalty in England, strong irish families and Germany as well … my grandparents were first generation American’s I grew up in a home where my great grandmother only spoke German because she was an indentured servant during WWI, whose blood sweat and tears paved the way for her family to succeed in this country.

My grandfather built a very notable military school that is still around today that has helped train the the men .. and women who have served our country.

Yes I am an American who is absolutely disgusted with the direction we are willing to steer the ship .. but dont you EVER call me a hater or racist because you dont know the first thing about it and you DO NOT know me. So screw you

NORM,

I’m sure the upper middle class have done quite well .. and if you are closer to the 30k mark then you have not received any of the benefits of the Bush tax cuts. And to what expense do we pay for the tax cut ?? it throws us into a deficit spending again .. so we add to the debt … thats just what we need .. MORE DEBT

SO you are willing to throw all your eggs into the basket of Obama because he seems less the politician ? I know you are not that naive in fact you seem like a pretty intelligent person. We are willing to put someone who has no foreign policy experience … at the helm of our ship based on a good speech giver .. thats the part that scares me.

actually as i’ve prior stated i’
