Romney Wins Maine

Minneapolis, MN—

Mitt Romney has won the Maine caucuses this evening. The traveling press found out today from Romney himself upon landing in Minneapolis. According to the Associated Press, Romney won 52 percent of the vote with 68 percent of towns reporting. John McCain came in second with 21 percent, Ron Paul had 19 percent and Mike Huckabee had 6 percent.

Romney’s eldest son Tagg campaigned in Maine and was the one to call his father tonight to inform him of the win. He called it “a people’s victory” and compared his four wins: Wyoming, Nevada, Michigan, and Maine to McCain’s three wins: New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida saying it gives him the advantage:

“It is in my view also an indication that conservative change is something that the American people wanna see. I think you’re gonna see a growing movement across this country to get behind my candidacy and to propel this candidacy forward,” Romney said. “I think it’s a harbinger of what you’re gonna see on Tuesday. It’s coming kinda late in the process but not really too late. You know that there’ve been seven contests prior to Maine. I won three. Sen. McCain won three. With this, that gives me the edge, four to three, I don’t weigh them all the same of course.”

Romney happily noted that he was able to win Maine even though McCain won the endorsement of the state’s two senators.

If conservatives wake up before Tuesday, Romney should do really well.

This is great news!

If TRUE conservatives wake up before Tuesday, the Rombots will be roused from their stupor and vote for Huckabee!

Comment by Firetrucker

So how many delegates does this give Romney? Fox, put a box on the politics home page with a running tally of delegates for each candidate, against the total possible.

Comment by Russell

Conserve is the root of conservatism. It a political context, what we are trying to conserve is the principles embedded in the constitution. It is very difficult to use the words “Huckabee” and “constitution” in the same sentence without laughing. Mike Huckabee doesn’t use toilet paper, he uses constitutions.

Comment by Russell

That goes for Romney and Mccain as well.

Comment by Texas

Go Romney! Remember a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. A vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary. Conservatives let us all rally around Romney. We can do this! A vote for Romney is a vote against the Liberal Media telling us who to vote for.

Texas, and a vote for Hillary is a vote for Bill. A vote for Bill is a vote for George H.W. Bush. A vote for George H.W. Bush is a vote for George W. Bush!

I hope you realize how absolutely silly this sounds as you pathetically try to chain together votes to scare people into voting how you want. You’re disgusting.

Comment by CMoC

Floridian and Russell, we (our conservative team) don’t have time for name calling (Rombots) and emotionally-based accusations (toilet paper/constitutions). Clearly we need each other in order to advance conservatism. We need both of you, and many others, to determine viable courses of action that advance conservatism, and put forth your ideas for candid (yet respectful) discussion. That gets things done; not bickering and name calling.

To quote your fathers “don’t make me come back there!”

Thats great! Another landslide victory for the Mitt. This is a great start in winning the GOP nomination. Soon, Mitt will be cleaning house, taking out the Hillary, and flushing the Bill.

Romney wins Maine with over 50% just like Wyoming and Nevada. Romney will take the whole Shabang! This man is a genius with superior credentials. He will save our economy and the republican party. Super Tuesday is going to be super-sweeeet for Romney.

Romney is not a politician so he doesn’t have the slick delivery others do. But to me this is a positive. The politicians have messed things up…including McCain. We need a change and I think Romney’s the one. He can work with world leaders and will impress them instead of yelling at them with four-letter words like McCain.

Romney took no pay from Massachusetts and only $1 from the Olympics. He’s spending his own money on the race. I believe he wants this job not for power or money, but to be of service to our country. I support him.

Congratulations, Maine! Thanks for choosing a man with conservative values for America.
Mitt Romney’s successful business experience, successful Olympic experience, and successful state governing success
set him above all other candidates. His vision of using economic strength to combat terrorist and his Apollo plan for energy independence are also set him above all other candidates.
He is a real leader who can lead American to build a strong economic and therefore a strong nation!
Hope American people will elect Mitt Romney, the only competent candidate, to be our president.

How could any moderates and liberals backs war monger McCain. McCain wants to bomb Iran and stay in Iraq for 100 years and promised for more wars. McCain says he wants interest rates to be ZERO out of complete ignorance for how interest rates affect the economy. I’d like to see him say that to retirees on a fixed income. McCain want 10 million illegal immigrants to stay permanently and legal immigrants who can vote do not support it. How could this country be secure if he is in power??? If McCain is nominee, as a republican I would rather vote Clinton than McCain. As least we know Clinton has some intelligence and lead the booming economic. McCain will lead this country to a total ruin with his lack of intelligence and no executive experience. Mitt Romney is an expert in economics and finance and is the man we need as president.

If anyone can rescue the economy at this point, it would have to be Mitt. The US is $53 trillion in debt, that is $400K per household. The dollar is becoming useless and the Euro is now becoming the credible currency. Along with the national debt, most citizens are also deeply in debt. Tommorow the market is likely going to take a dump. If we don’t have a good economy you can forget foreign policy, fighting wars, or healthcare, funding for top education. The economy needs to be front and center, not religion, steriotypes and other trivial things.

It’s time to remind the public about the Keating 5. Here the banks are falling appart and the economy is going into recession and we want to reward a slime ball like McCain who was wrapped up with Charles Keating, the guy who tanked Lincoln Savings & Loan, driving a previous recession? Go figure. Given what this did to the economy in the early 90’s, McCain should have just taken a baseball bat to the knee caps of the American people. Mitt is too kind to this power hungry geriatric sellout!
John McCain has allowed countless billions of American dollars to be siphoned out of this country into Mexico alongside the countless billions of taxpayer dollars spent on health care, education, welfare, crime and mortgage bailouts for illegal aliens. John McCain, in his support for illegal immigration, has allowed Al Qaeda terrorist to use Mexican drug smuggling tunnels to enter the United States and plot to attack Fort Huachuca in southern Arizona. This litany of positions contrary to conservatism and American interests could go on and on.

Comment by Mark

Romney and McCain are not very Conservative. Ron Paul has a higher rating by the NRA and the American Conservative Magazine. It’s a Shame More Americans arent educated on how liberal McCain and Romney truly are.

Comment by Dallas Republican

This is good news. I feel kinda bad for Huck, but his supporters really need to give credit where it’s due.

Huck supporters, would ya’ll have been happier if it was McCain with 54%? If you call yourself conservatives, then a loss for McCain is a win for you!

Comment by Chris

Romney is a disgrace to the Republican party. How can anyone in their right mind vote for that guy? Do your homework people!! He has openly changed his position on just about everything that makes a conservative, a conservative. He is truly the most liberal one left. Huck is the most honest and most conservative one. Check out their records and quit listening to the national news including what I once thought was Fair and Balanced….Faux News. Hannity, Coulter and the rest of the elitists make me want to vomit. Check out Huck at his website and watch C-Span!! GO HUCK!!!!! He is leading in most Southern states and still can win!! He’s only lost in the yuppie states and liberal/independents states like Florida. The only reason why he lost SC is because of Thompson who I liked as well. Wake up people before it’s too late!!! A vote for Huck is a vote for Huck!! A vote for Romney is a vote for a liberal!! You might as well vote for Hillary or Obama!!

Im Voting For Ron Paul–He’s the only conservative left in the G.O.P. race.

Way to go Maine! I am not just excited because Mitt won (Yay!), I am also glad to hear that they had a record turn out. I love to see Republicans getting involved in civics.

I will be pushing for Mitt in my state Delaware. Hopefully we can come close to the blowout victory up in Maine.

I stand with Mitt in 08! I stand for Conservatism!

Comment by Dallas Republican

Mark, Romney has had a better record on immigration voting than Paul. Now I like Paul too, and we vacation at his home city in Surfside TX every summer, but he has zero chances now. And it would be great if Paul endorsed Romney.

So please, let’s find a way to stop McCain before he donates America to Mexico!!!!

Maine is largely Independent/Liberal as well. Whoopie do….wait until Super Tuesday when Huck’s states come through for him.

Finally we get a state with some educated and intelligent voters.

FL - you really let me down. A majority of you who cited the economy as your number one concern voted for McAmnesty–the guy who has repeatedly admitted he doesn’t know much about the economy……well, he did admit it until the Straight Talk Express completely broke down in FL.

He is a very intellegent and organized man. Our country needs his abilities to solve the problems that have plagued our federal government for three decades (immigration, social security, healthcare, particianship) and the new issues (global trade, technical innovation-including the envirnoment).

President Romney, It will be honor to have you as the face of America.

Comment by Travis Gollaher

The stakes are high on Super Tuesday for the republican parties’ presidential contenders, but it could not be higher for them than it is for America.
It is very important for the voter to do some homework this weekend so that we as a nation do not end up with a severe case of buyers’ remorse on Wednesday morning. We must be true to our roots and not allow the wolves in sheep’s clothing to rob us blind, and deprive us of who we are, and what we represent as a people once enlightened with the vision of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and George Bush.
There are wolves and they have been running a well coordinated attack, and have already taken some of our associates down. These wolves have us on the run and have begun to strategically divide us, and scatter us in preparation for the final move, the destruction of liberty. They want to chase us down the dark road too socialism. We need to rally around our core principles and adhere to them. We must ensure the safety, and success of our parties’ great but now endangered legacy. We need to rise up with a united voice and cast our vote this coming Tuesday, to the only conservative out there; that man is Mitt Romney. Vote Mitt Romney President of the United States of America in 2008.

Comment by Jeremiah Grant - Phoenix, AZ

“If you’re a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue further than that. If you are a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now, and that’s Mitt Romney.

– Senator Rick Santorum

Here’s what the CEO of one of the businesses Romney helped said about Romney’s LEADERSHIP:

Boston, MA – Today, Staples Founder Thomas Stemberg released the following statement regarding Governor Romney’s record of growing businesses and creating jobs:

“At this critical time for our economy, the United States needs a leader in Washington who actually has a record in the private sector of creating jobs. That leader is Mitt Romney. He knows what it takes to create jobs because he has done it time and time again. As a businessman, Governor Romney took a chance and invested in the first Staples store. Today, tens of thousands of Staples employees across this country have jobs because of that decision. That’s a clear record of action that Mitt Romney repeated time after time. Washington needs leaders who can do more than just talk about creating jobs.”

Comment by Travis Gollaher

With the recent victory of John McCain in Florida, the implosion of Rudy’s campaign, and the Huckster’s refusal to get off of McCain’s lap; success for Mitt Romney seems to be dissipating quickly. The Republican Party is being hijacked by a highly sinister group of liberal democrats dressed in sheep’s clothing; by liberal’s hell bent on the destruction of the American dream and way of life. These men seek power more than the welfare of their fellow countrymen. If John McCain happens to win the republican nomination by trickery, well shame on you America for not doing your homework. You are going to get what you deserve. I have watched this nomination as closely as anyone since its beginning and I am sickened to the core at what I am witnessing. The hard fact is that Mitt Romney was the only viable candidate for this election cycle. He is truly the only conservative in the race.John McCain is not a conservative and Mike Huckabee is not a conservative. Fred Thompson was, but was way out of his league this time, and he wisely saw that, and resigned his campaign to the annals of history. My plea today is that we, as the base of the Republican Party, stand up to these imposters who will say and do anything to impose their ill will upon the American people. Toss them out onto their faces and elect the one and only true conservative Mitt Romney.Vote Mitt Romney President of the United States of America in 2008.

Sorry you feel that way Chris, but facts are facts. Huck will probably carry a few states Tuesday, but it won’t be enough.

And all the elitists your deriding happen to make a very comfortable living attacking liberals, so please think about what you’re saying.

Comment by Tim

Oh and by the way. Maybe Huckabee would be winning more if he were still running for President. Instead he is running for second place. If you want to be the guy at the top then you have to challenge the top. That is what Mitt has been doing the entire campaign. Mike Huckabee’s campaign has degenerated into a hissy fit to get into second place, or in the case of Maine third. Stop the class envy and populism. If you want to be President aim for #1, don’t get so focused on second.

Mitt for President in 08!

Huckabee for 2nd place. (By the way, when running for President second place doesn’t cut it.)

GO HUCK, GO AWAY PAID ROMNEY BLOGGERS!! How much does he pay you guys anyway?

Jay, it does sound silly because you made it so. You can spin and twist it all you want but the fact is Huckabee is not going to win the nomination. You can give your one vote to Huckabee–go right ahead. Do you really think your vote for Huckabee will stop McCain? Let’s be logical here. Huckabee won Iowa. Romney won Wyoming, Nevada, Michigan, and now Maine. McCain won Florida, SC, and NH. The race is between Romney and McCain. Just admit it. Huckabee won’t bow out because of his own selfish reasons (VP). Huckabee cannot claim to be a conservative because he wants McCain the Democrat in the White House.

And to McCain–what is it about those ads. He was a POW. Does that qualify him to be President? Those ads scare me. It seems McCain is promising more war in the future because that is the only thing knows. Ask him anything about issues and he will tell you about his war qualifications. What about his stance on immigration, and the economy. He lies on camera and Huckabee is out there defending him.

Comment by Dallas Republican

Travis, your comment on “Buyers Remorse” is sad but true.

Why won’t Huck go after McCain for his liberal agenda??? Huck say’s Romney’s a liberal, but he’s mum on McCain. That’s very suspect. Please answer…..

I’m waiting?

Comment by Tildawen

On Super Tuesday let conservative voices be heard on the ballots not on polls or media. Vote For Mitt Romney!!! McCain’s liberal views are not whats Republican partys all about. We conservative will be heard on the ballots.

Comment by Todd

Chris (Huckabee),

The Democratic National Convention labeled Romney “Flip-Flop”. McCain keeps repeating it. The exit polls have found that evangelicals that are concerned about a Mormon president have used the “Flip Flop” label to cover their real concern. However, that number is diminishing.

Look closely at Romney’s comments and record. He has very few stated positions that have changed. And his record has NO flip flopping. Look at McCain, his entire 30 years has been one big flop. Even Huckabee, who ran a moderate economic agenda in Arkansas has flipped farther to the right in the national campaign.

It is time to drop the “Flip Flop” label and start talking about the issues, the policies, and the solutions.

Comment by Dallas Republican

Hello Chris, I’m a member of the Dallas Chapter of Citizens for Immigration Reform. Romney has held the highest rating with Numbers USA during his ENTIRE candidacy of all the current candidates. Has Huck? No. Any questions?

And please, stick to facts. As I’ve said countless times, I like Huck, but we must rally behind a candidate that can win…….

Comment by Chris

McCain’s liberal agenda? He’s more conservative than Romney by far!!!! Are you kidding? I figure if you know the candidates, you would know that Romney was about as liberal as they come and you must be a liberal/moderate Republican or Independent to vote for him. (Oh wait, let me guess, you believed his lies and what the elitists fed you.) Shame on you. McCain has his faults, but he’s no liberal. He’s a patriot.

Huckabee is still hovering at second nationally and is either leading or contending in many Super Tuesday states. Amazing he’s done as well as he has with the news trying to filter him out and his lack of spending. It’s a testament to his message getting out via grass roots people. It harder and takes longer, but the truth will come out. Wake up people and find out the facts on the candidates before voting. Don’t go by what they say, go with what they have done. Nobody has actually governed and has been more consistent than Mike Huckabee. He is a true conservative and wants to shake up Washington.

Attacking liberals is not enough for the elitists in the party. We need real change and leadership. We need to reach out to everyone. That will come when all you wake up and see that Huck is the man we need.

Comment by Paul

Oh yeah!!!! Apparently there werent’ enough Huckabee voters to cost Romney Maine like they did in NH, SC and FL. And Mitt won Maine despite the fact both Senators supported McCain. HA!!! Conservatives Unite Before It Is Too Late. A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain (Democrat Lite).

Go Romney Go!!!!!

Comment by Dallas Republican

“Grass Roots” Chris? No, that would be Ron Paul. Paul could trounce Huck with his grass roots movement. Unfortunately for both, and I really like Paul, they are not electable candidates.

We are not the enemy here chief. We both want a conservative President. But, as fate has it, Romney and McCain will go head to head. Huck put up a great campaign, but for the good of the party, we need to rally behind ONE candidate.

Now, will you pulleease answer why Huck won’t go after the frontrunner? And yes, amnesty for illegals is LIBERAL….

Comment by Chris

Hey Dallas Republican (is that your real name? Pretty original!)….who has the endorsement from the Minutemen founder? You guessed it. Huck, not Romney. Any questions? I do have one for you….How much has the Romney campaign contributed to you?

Huck is the only one to pledge to have no amnesty and build a fence immediately. Check out his plan…you may change your mind.

Comment by Tildawen

Huckabee supporters after this primary elections finished, no matter who wins. Sad to say Huckabee will fade away and will only be tag as the spoiler of the Republican elections.

Comment by Paul

McCain is a patriot. But so was John Kerry and Bob Dole when they ran. Romney is the only candidate who can be a leader for the economy too. McCain can’t answer any question on the economy or anything else without bringing up his military experience. That’s fine and all but John Kerry did the same thing four years ago. You need more and you must understand the economy which McCain admits he doesn’t know that well.

You also can’t be calling yourself a conservative when you trade your conservative values and soul to make deals on illegal immigration with Kennedy and Obama. Then he votes against the Bush tax cuts twice. Back then he said he did it cause it helped the rich (despite the fact they helped our economy rebound) and now he says he did it cause of spending.

Oh and don’t forget he almost left the GOP in 2001. That’s commitment for you.

McCain needs to change the name of his bus to ” The Straight Double Talk Express.”

But he is a patriot and a wondefrul human being. He can better serve us in the Senate and work with Romney to bring change to Washington. Better yet maybe Romney could make him Secretary of Defense.

Mitt is the only choice and best chance to beat the Dems in November.

Comment by Texas

McCain’s voting record here is just a small sample of his votes:1. Vote 367:HR 3093, votes no on increasing funds to fight criminal illegal aliens. 2.Vote 196:S 1348, votes no on increased border security with a biometric system. 3. Vote 227: HR 5631, he votes no on giving the Navy more money to get more advanced systems. 4. Vote 206:HR 810, he votes yes on stem cell research. 5.Vote 178:S 2766 , he votes no on pressuring Iraq to stop giving amnesty to people who have killed, attacked or wounded our soldiers. 6. Vote 112:HR 4939, he votes no on supplemental appropriations Act for Defense, the Global war on terror, and Hurricane recovery, 2006. 7. Vote 111:HR 4939, he votes no on providing $20,000,000 for the Department of Veterans Affairs for Medical Facilities. 8. Vote 98:HR 4939 votes no on providing $430,000,000 for the Department of Veterans Affairs for Medical Services for wounded soldiers outpatient care and treatment of veterans. 9.Vote 344, a John Kerry amendment to make combat pay considered earned income, which has never been done, McCain votes yes. 10. Vote 151:HR 6, he votes yes on another Kerry amendment on global warming, placing us under the authority of the United Nations regulations. Just today on the way home from work Laura Ingram program played a tape of McCain and Hillary Clinton sitting together in an interview in 2005, when McCain was asked whether Hillary would make a good president, he said, “Yes, I believe she would make a good president.”

Again, a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. A vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary.

Comment by Paul

Huckabee gave in-state college tution breaks to illegal aliens in Ark. Spare me his plan. His record speaks for itself. Soft on taxes and illegal immigration. Oh and he lied about Romney’s religion to excite his Christian base against him. For a minister I would expect a higher class of individual.

A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain (Democrat Lite)!!!!!

Comment by Chris

Huck has already said a number of times he is going for the Presidency. Again, quit listening to the elite media trying to shape this, and listen to Huck himself. He hasn’t attacked McCain because they have been civil to each other all along. Both are going after Romney ever since he started his negative campaigning in Iowa and NH (worked out for him well there huh, even with record spending by his caompaign). You can still turn it up for Huck. Don’t believe the hype of the media!! This is about delegates, and there’s still plenty to get. It’s going down to the convention and won’t be aas tidy as the elitists and Faux News wants it to be. Romney’s going down and there’s nothing anyone (or his money) can do about it. He’s trying hard though. You have to have a lot of money for commercials to try and convince most of the public that he’s a conservative. It’s been working pretty good so far, but the truth is coming out slowly.

Comment by Todd

Chris,

What are the changes that Huckabee is going to enact?

Okay there is the Fair Tax. That would be a change and worth discussing.

What is Huck’s stance on foreign policy. I haven’t heard one (he does plan to stay in Iraq as do the other candidates–Paul excluded).

What about illegal immigration? Last I heard Huck would send them home where a new visa would be issued to allow a legal return within days. Has his policy changed?

On taxes, in Arkansas Huck raised them. He also accomplished many good public projects that raised the quality of living. So the question is, should the GOP be so anti-tax? Shouldn’t Huck be running on a raise taxes if there is a good reason platform instead of saying he is a cut taxes man?

Too frequently Huck seems to dodge the questions with a joke rather than state his policies (Thompson Metamusal or Chuck on age discrimination comes to mind).

Comment by Tildawen

Mitt Romney will win on Super Tuesday. I heard a rumor going around that Rush will support Mitt Romney on Monday. That he will do it at the end of his program. I hope its true.

Comment by DMH

I’m 100% behind Mitt Romney! The choice is very clear. He is a man of integrity and unmatched accomplishment. All this smear talk about him flip flopping is a big lie. He flipped once on abortion. That’s it and he’s been very straight forward in explaining his conversion there. When he ran in Massachusetts where no Republican had won in probably a century, he made a committment to the voters in that state that he wouldn’t change the current laws dealing with a woman’s right to choose because he understood that was where the people of that state were at the time. He has never supported abortion personally but has just changed in his feeling about the government’s role in regulating the practice of abortion publically. I respect that.

He exudes success and professionalism in everything he does. What a change he would bring to Washington. Now is the time for all conservatives to make their voices heard!! Not the media, not the pundits who try to tell us what to think and believe and who to vote for. Mitt is winning the hearts of all true conservatives and will win in the end. Go Mitt!!

Comment by Dallas Republican

Chris, I know you’ve been a member of NUMBERS USA longer than me, right? You want to school me on Huck’s position prior to signing Roy Beck’s pledge, which, by the way, was two weeks ago?

Where do you think Huck’s pledge and promises came from? And one more thing, tell me what Michelle Malkin wrote about regarding Gilchrist’s (that’s his name, so you’ll know) endorsement of Huck. Now that’s a good topic you brought up, but not for Huck’s sake!

Sorry about Huck, but he should’ve thought twice about blubbering about illegal’s kids during the debate (and trying to give illegals in-state tution).

Comment by Jonah

Comment by Chris

Wow Paul…new to the debate? Old news already debunked and explained. He supported legislation to help CHILDREN born here to illegals. The are citizens under current law. What should he have done? You have to be humane not cruel. It’s the Federal government’s fault his state was put into that position to begin with. That’s wy he wants to fix it as president and do it humanely. Check it out….. http://www.mikehuckabee.com It will put that story to rest.

Comment by Paul

Chris,

You said, “Huckabee said he is going for the Presidency many times.” Come on, he can’t win as no one outside of his religous base vote is voting for him. Now, I appreciate his religious base and fully understand and respect the religious right’s role in the GOP. But, if they don’t wake up and smell the coffee very soon, than their votes for Huckabee are in vain and will only help a more liberal candidate win. A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain (Democrat Lite).

It is very clear Huckabee hates Romney and is helping McCain win. How can you not see this or don’t you care?

Comment by Paul

Chris,

If they were born here than they wouldn’t be illegal. He gave illegal aliens in-state college tuition breaks. It’s nice he has compassion to spend tax dollars on foks who shouldn’t be here legally.
Sorry, he is just like McCain. Going to give the farm away out of compassion to those who aren’t citizens.

Comment by Chris

Dallas Republican, if you know that already, than you know he’s committed to doing the right thing. You don’t have to show you are smart by throwing out names I already knew. Apparently you can type everyone elses name but your own!! I’m just making a solid defense of Huck’s record, which you say you know he has.

I never said I was a part of your NUMBERS USA. I am a part of the USA and know that Huck is committed to sealing the borders and fixing the problem of illegal immigration.

Comment by Dallas Republican

Good luck Chris. I can appreciate your zeal, but not your logic. I am a numbers guy (literally), and math is really the only thing that makes sense to me.

So go forth and cast your votes, but remember, the illegals are breeding exponentially, and we can’t afford four more years of open borders and non-enforcement. ROMNEY IN ‘08!!!

Comment by Debra

I just returned from a meeting where several people confided they plan to vote for Romney, but if their ministers find out they will have a hard time showing up for church. This is really sad. If ministers continue to preach to congregations that they shouldn’t vote for Romney because he is a Mormon, and if the members foolishly follow such nonsensical counsel, they will end up with what they deserve for a president rather than what they really want.

Romney is falsely accused by various ministers of belonging to a cult and blindly following its leaders, yet these same ministers are expecting obedience from the members of their congregations when they enter voting booths.

Interesting, isn’t it, that Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, and Mitt Romney are both Mormons, yet they are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. What kiknd of a “cult following” is that???

Congratulations, Maine, on a wise election! Glad there aren’t as many bigots in the north part of the country!

Comment by Todd

Tildawen,

I hope Mitt will win on Tuesday. However, I don’t think Rush or his gang have as much pull as they did ten years ago. That is probably a good thing. It seems that some of the Republican problems we now have are a result of too much listening to talk shows and “group think” mentality and not enough individual thinking and problem solving.

Comment by Dean

Chris,

Wake up.

What pledge did his royal birthmark (that’s Huckabee for being so tightly glued to McAmnesty) sign? http://polipundit.com/index.php?p=19374

Mike Huckabee has become the first major presidential candidate to sign NumbersUSA’s anti-amnesty pledge, which is a very detailed rejection of each trick used to lie about amnesty in the past. You can watch a video of Huckabee signing the pledge here. Which candidate will be next?

Looks like Numbers USA. When? Jan. 17. Why? Because as Dallas points out, he was rated so low and Romney was high.

What kind of kool aid do they pass out for sacramental wine in these evangelical churches that so many of you Huckabee supporters are so ignorant, lie (but think because you said it that it is true), and delusional that you think he will when when he just got his butt handed to him in Maine?

So isn’t this a big flip for Huck? After all, he signed their pledge and they had him rated poorly before. So you can’t trash them without saying he was an idiot for signing.

Debra,

Check out http://www.evangelicalsformitt.com. I’m not an evangelical, however, I visit their page daily because of the insightful comments they have on the entire race.

It really makes me sad when I think about how God has given us a chance here in America. A chance to have a man that believes in God..just as our Fore Fathers did. But Americans have gotten so far from God that I really think this country is going down a slippery slope.

I wish Americans would wake up….all I can say is the Bible speaks about how Christians will be persicuted and judged for there beliefs and I’m so glad that Huckabee did not waiver in his beliefs just to get elected. I love that man..I respect him,

If I had my way he would be the President Of The United States and our ForeFathers would be proud of that!

Debra,

Please share with your friends this link: If the preacher is doing this at the church or an official church function, he is “breaking the law” in that it violates the tax-exempt status of the church.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1828.pdf and look at page 7.

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all IRC section
501(c)(3) organizations, including churches and religious
organizations, are absolutely prohibited from directly or
indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political
campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate
for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign
funds or public statements of position (verbal or
written) made by or on behalf of the organization in favor
of or in opposition to any candidate for public office
clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign
activity. Violation of this prohibition may result in denial
or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of
certain excise tax.
……………..
However, for their organizations to remain tax exempt
under IRC section 501(c)(3), religious leaders cannot
make partisan comments in official organization publications
or at official church functions. To avoid potential
attribution of their comments outside of church functions
and publications, religious leaders who speak or
write in their individual capacity are encouraged to clearly
indicate that their comments are personal and not
intended to represent the views of the organization. The
following are examples of situations involving endorsements
by religious leaders.

I do care and is why I support Huck. If Romney falls because of Huck, great. I would much rather have McCain than Romney. Hate is a strong word and don’t believe that’s the case.

There is a lot of buzz about the Fair Tax and people are starting to get on that train as well. Once people start understanding it, they like it. So no, I don’t believe it’s just the evangelicals.

Paul, the tuition was still for kids who didn’t CHOOSE to come here illegally and grew up in the school system. They shouldn’t be able to have a chance for a good education? If Huck becomes president, ALL illegals will have to get in the back of the line. He was only doing what is right until the federal government enforces the law! Again, we have to be humane here, and until the system is fixed and the arrangements are made for illegals to get in the back of the line, fix the system to speed up the process in the first place!! Get a grip!

Why cant the Romney supporters ever stop bashing Huckabee?

Back2r4fathers,

Hey I am glad to see that you are supporting Romney since he is a true Christian as is evidenced by the persecution he is receiving. Did you know his church actually teaches that America is a promised land and that God inspired the Consitution? But that if people are wicked, they will be destroyed.

That’s why he so passionately wants to save it from liberals and seculars.

I know what you mean I am praying for God to give Huckabee strenth and a peace about this whole election. People have been so cruel assuming the worst of him….in the end though, does it really matter? God knows the truth and thats all that matters.

Governor Romney is our best hope for a reasonable a health care policy, secure borders, fiscal responsibility and efficiency in government. Please research the facts and vote intelligently (not emotionally). The more you learn THE FACTS(not the false accusations) about Governor Romney, the more you will like him. He is a LEADER, not just in word but also in example.

You say kids of illegals should get education, thats fine. Then open up your own wallets or give some of your kids college fund to them, dont charge it to all of us. Its so easy to give away money thats not earned. You want illegal to get back in line and have a speedy process, fine. Get their names and start petitioning for them thats a fast way or try Marrying them.

(Dean) Mormons are NOT Christians…..I have studied the Mormon cult and there god is not my God.

Huck doesn’t have the money Romney has. Maine wasn’t even in his radar. Romney has 80 kids all over the place helping him out along with his billions of dollars. How come he hasn’t won every state?

18 months!! That’s how long after Huck takes office that the borders will be sealed. So you won’t have to wait another four years.

By the way, NUMBERS USA has always given Huck a “GOOD” mark even before signing the pledge when they upgraded him to “EXCELLENT”. This is not a flop for Huck, he’s always been against amnesty and was against the plan McCain/Bush wanted to pass. So get off that.

Yeah a lot of people think everyones god is the same God…the Bible warns us against such things.

Watch it bud. My wife is Mormon. So what cult do you belong to?

So thank you for confirming yet again that the only reason you are for Huckabee is you belong to a church that is racist, bigoted and Un-christian in how you treat people.

How dare you whine about Christians being persecuted and then call some one who belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints not a Christian and a member of a cult.

You are a hypocrite. And even my God and my wife’s God tells me that hypocrites rank right up there with the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Go repent. But I guess you don’t have to ’cause you are born again and can now do whatever you want, huh?

A true Mormon is a devout and true Christian. They believe their lives should perfectly agree with the will of God. The term “Mormon” when properly translated means more good. It has been used in derision against the followers of Jesus under Joseph Smith; even as the name Christian was used against the followers of Jesus under Peter. Christian is defined as a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ. Joseph Smith taught, “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.”
