To Taylor,
So God has given you superior insight into Mike Huckabee's motivations and intent... I believe you call that "discernment", huh? Well, how interesting. I am sure that HE would "reveal" this to you because you and all other mormons must be the only " sincerely" seeking Christians in America...
Get a clue. First of all, I was raised in the Latter Day Saint Church and I have have read the Book of Mormon and the " inspired" version of the Bible and the Pearl of Great Price... I do think that mormons are believers... but I also think that they are bigots, believing they are the only true believers...and their church is the only true church... and don't tell me that you do not know that this is clearly taught in your church. Are mormons sincere? Oh yes, they are. Are they the only sincere followers of Christ ? Absolutely not! There are many sincere Christians who pray and have discernment given by the Holy Spirit who do NOT agree with your perception of Mike Huckabee's campaign... I am one of them. I have read the bible ( as well as all of the books that you embrace as the canon of Scripture) and I have been studying to show myself approved since the age of 8 and I am now 52... I pray and I count on the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to me as I study... so you might want to reconsider your harsh position... seeing that it smacks of religious bigotry, elitism, and self righteous judgement. You might want to open your bible and find out what the Holy Spirit would say about those things. By the way, I am not judging you as I have already stated that I believe you are sincere and so are other mormon believers... but you do not get to set yourself up as a judge of who is sincere and who has discernment... only Father God is the true judge of these things. I hope that you can see past your self righteousness and your injured feelings that Mike Huckabee misunderstood a tenet of your belief system. I know that Mormons get misunderstood a lot, and so you might want to lash out at Mike because he is a a recent example of the misunderstandings between your church and other believers. Since you do pray, and seem to me to be sincere in your faith... pray more for the ability to be see past your own mindset to what God may be doing in others and in our nation....

Stan, Ouchita Baptist teaches religion as one of their majors, but it is a well-rounded 4-year liberal arts university, chartered to help students learn "to think critically and creatively, to mature in their understanding and appreciation of their world, to communicate effectively and to accept their obligation to be of service to God and mankind." It is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (Chicago), a non-religious accreditation council.

Ouachita Baptist University has been ranked the number one baccalaureate college in the south according to the 2008 issue of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News and World Report.

If you graduate from that school, you are fully educated and prepared for the modern world, but you didn't have to pay megabucks for an Ivy League school.

Amber,

Your comments on the beliefs of Mormons are typical of most folks who don't really know what the beliefs of Mormons are. You cannot possibly know the truth about a religion if you simply believe what you have heard. Knowledge requires seeking and study. The Book of Mormon is not even close to what you have typed. All doctrines in the Mormon faith are in the bible. By contrast, a belief that Jesus is a spirit and part of three other spirits is not in the bible and is not biblical doctrine. That comes from a creed. And that is what separates Mormons from Christians these days. Mormons reject creeds and believe that everything in the bible is still true. Christians reject many doctrines in the bible as being true today (like prophets, angels, revelations, visions) and embrace many creeds that cannot even be found in the bible. The only way to really understand the gospel of Jesus Christ, and know what he expects of his followers beyond just saying they believe in him, is to study the bible sincerely, and pray to obtain the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Those who truly love God will not be able to refrain from doing both. Good luck. P.S. Mormons are the most sincere followers of God's commandments that you will find. Now read 1 John 2:3-5 to learn the significance of that.

Mike Huckabee is what the bible calls crafty. His behavior is what the bible calls priestcrafts. He is dangerous, a wolf in transparent sheep's clothing for those who have any true spiritual discernment.
He is failing to fool sincere and pure hearted followers of Christ. I have watched him twist the statements of others, lie about facts, and mock as only a clever, experienced man mock. He is a professional speaker, at best, if you like that kind of country bumpkin style. I believe it is his brand of religion/christianity that explains why church attendance is dropping by the week.

On Mike's website: http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_id=4

On January 16, 2008 Governor Huckabee signed the Numbers USA: No Amnesty Pledge. To learn more click here.
Governor Huckabee believes:

Securing our borders must be our top priority and has reached the level of a national emergency.

I support the $3 billion the Senate has voted for border security. This money will train and deploy 23,000 more agents, add four drone planes, build 700 miles of fence and 300 miles of vehicle barriers, and put up 105 radar and camera towers. This money will turn "catch and release" into "catch and detain" of those entering illegally, and crack down on those who overstay their visas.
In this age of terror, immigration is not only an economic issue, but also a national security issue. Those caught trying to enter illegally must be detained, processed, and deported. As Governor, I ordered my state troopers to work with the Department of Homeland Security to arrest illegals and enforce federal immigration law.
I oppose and will never allow amnesty. I opposed the amnesty President Bush and Senator McCain tried to ram through Congress this summer, and opposed the misnamed DREAM Act, which would have put us on the slippery slope to amnesty for all.
I oppose and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government must crack down on rogue cities that willfully undermine our economy and national security.
I oppose giving driver's licenses to illegals and supports legislation to prevent states from doing so. In 2005, I signed legislation that prevents illegals in Arkansas from getting driver's licenses.
I will stop punishing cities which try to enforce our laws and protect the economic well-being, physical safety, and quality of life of their citizens.
I oppose and will not tolerate employers who hire illegals. They must be punished with fines and penalties so large that they will see it is not worth the risk.
I oppose the economic integration of North America that would create open borders among the United States, Canada, and Mexico. I will never yield one iota or one inch of our sovereignty.
I will take our country back for those who belong here. No open borders, no amnesty, no sanctuary, no false Social Security numbers, no driver's licenses for illegals.

Mike said regarding war against Islamic terrorists (which is a theocratic war or religious war=war based on religion or theological issues): "I'm the only guy on that stage with a theology degree." He simply meant that because he had studied theology and religion, he understood more from an academic standpoint than those who did not take several courses and receive a degree-- "about theological issues pertaining to the war."

Huckabee never said he had a Master's degree. He said he had a theology degree.
Huckabee received a bachelor's degree in religion (same as theology: defined by Webster's as "the study of 'religious' faith, practice, and experience; especially : the study of God and of God's relation to the world") at a Christian theological undergraduate school called Ouachita Baptist University. He additionally received 4 years (46 hours) of Masters experience at Southwestern Theological Seminary (1976-1980) to extend his theological experience. From what I understand, at some point he had to care for his very ill wife, early on in their marriage, who had spinal cancer or some kind of spinal disease.

This is where he received his bachelor's degree: Ouachita Baptist University and their department is called Department of Christian Theology. The degree is theology, formerly religion.
http://www.obu.edu/christianstudies/dept_theology.asp
Chesley and Elizabeth Pruet School of Christian Studies, Department of Christian Theology

Governor Huckabee's extensive executive experience:

Political Experience
Governor of Arkansas, 1996-2007
Chairman, National Governors Association, 2005-2006
Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas, 1993-1996

Professional Experience
President, Cambridge Communications, 1992-1996
President, KBSC-TV, 1987-1992
President, Beech Street Communications, 1986-1992
Baptist Minister, 1980-1992
President, Arkansas Baptist State Convention, 1989-1991
President, ACTS-TV, 1983-1986
Advertising Director, Focus, 1976-1980

I hope this additionally clarifies some misconceptions.

To Frank
I mistated the facts... I was not lied to by anyone. If you want to attack me for my mistatement, go right ahead... but do not insinuate that Mike Huckabee had anything to do with my mistake. If you have never made a mistake, you can throw a stone, or I guess you can throw a stone even if you have made mistakes.. that's your choice.
Thank you to Stan-GA who cleared up the confusion I might have caused. My original point, however, was to say that Mike Huckabee has a keen intellect and innovative, creative approaches to major issues facing this country that appeal to a broad base of people... I still maintain that point. It is true, regardless of his educational background. By the way, to graduate with honors in 2and 1/2 years..pretty impressive. To be esteemed by your peers, as shown by Rick Warren, of Saddleback Church... very impressive. To run a successful campaign, with a huge grassroot support from all across the country...again,impressive. I like MIKE!!! Cannot wait to vote for him on March 4 primary in the great state of TEXAS!!
