Huckabee: A Vote for Romney may be a Vote for Hillary

Tulsa, OK-

Mike Huckabee, frustrated with the argument brought by his rival Mitt Romney , and some conservative commentators, that a vote for Huckabee would split votes from Romney, and help front runner John McCain,  fired back, hitting Romney’s record head on.

”Actually a vote for me is a vote for me. A vote for Mitt Romney may be a vote for Hillary Clinton, because the fact is I’ve got a far more conservative record than Mitt Romney ever dreamed of having,”Huckabee said.” Where people can come up with branding him a conservative is really, I think, tantamount to requiring an extraordinary amount of imagination.”

I cannot be the only one tired of this crap, can I?

Huckabee says voting for Romney is voting for Hillary, but he is his own vote.
McCain says voting for him is voting for him, but Romney for Hillary.
Obama says a vote for him is a vote for super happy fun magic time, but voting for Hillary is evil.

I’m getting tired of these people trying to force me into their vote. It’s bad enough that you have candidate surrogates constantly doing it. Now you have the campaigns themselves coming out with this crap.

There’s absolutely no guarantee that if I vote for Romney, he’ll lose. Likewise, despite Obama’s latest attack, he doesn’t have the best chance at beating McCain because McCain isn’t even the nominee yet. Everyone is focusing on the general, and we still have over 40 states to go. Even Super Tuesday will not lock it up.

The more these campaigns try to scare me into voting for them, the less I like them. It’s baseless, pathetic rhetoric that ignores any and all issues and says “Vote for me, I think I’ll win.” Congratulations, so does every other politician. Run on your issues and on your plan, and stop filling the airwaves with this stupid scare tactics crap.

Jay, Huckabee is responding to attacks against him!!! He is defending himself against Romney attacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huckabee’s sly attempt to be McCain’s VP is disappointing. He is a cunning, although not too bright, politician and has disgraced Christian ideals over this campaign.

HE HAS NOW OFFICIALLY LOST MY VOTE.

He needs to go back to Arkansas and work on improving his raw intelligence.

MIKE HUCKABEE, THE “CAN DO” CANDIDATE

I consider it a great honor and privilege to have the opportunity to support a candidate like Mike Huckabee. If anyone can unite this country and move us towards positive change, it is Mike.

As I recall, during one of the debates, Mike mentioned his stance on energy independence, saying he would push towards having America end the import of foreign oil in ten years and move us towards renewable energy sources. One of the other candidates, (I believe it was Fred Thompson), interrupted Mike and said “that can’t be accomplished in ten years”. Mike replied by saying that he was tired of hearing people say “we can’t” and “it’s impossible”.

Mike knows that we can accomplish anything if we truly have the desire and put our minds to it. Just look at how he remains a strong contender in this primary, despite the fact that the news media would like to write him off. Mike, and we, his supporters have remained steadfast in our resolve to see him in the White House and we WILL NOT give up.

Mike is the “can do” candidate and he will inspire this nation to accomplish great things as President. Please cast your vote for Mike Huckabee on Super Tuesday.

Jay, Romney is the one pushing the idea that a vote for Huckabee is actually a vote for someone else (McCain). Huckabee just hit back since the media has been pushing the idea that with Giuliani and Thompson out, it’s now a two man race. In fact, FoxNews poll from Jan 30-31 showed that in a two-man race between Romney and McCain, McCain would kill Romney.

I’m sure Romney is a very nice man, but I do hope Republicans are smart enough not to do a “John Kerry.” Any of the Democratic candidates would have a field day with him. But that said, since we can’t predict what will happen between now and November, I think it’s important to vote for who we think is the best person to represent the party going forward. I think that’s Huckabee; you think that’s Romney. But if McCain wins anyway, the fact is that the majority of Republican voters want HIM. That’s how the process works, and it’s a pretty good process (minus McCain-Feingold and the biased media). I think that whoever wins the nomination, whether that be Huckabee, Romney, or McCain, is the party’s best chance at winning in November.

Comment by Brett

Huckabee is right about all this. Romney is no conservative and it is crazy that the conservative types are trying to convince us that Romney is electable…. He’s a blueblood, social liberal, who can’t carry New England or the mid-Atlantic states, can’t win California, and doesn’t have a snowball’s chance of winning the South or Midwest. His Mormon faith hurts him in the South as much as Huckabee’s would hinder him in San Francisco. So why would you want to nominate him for the presidency? Every poll now shows that over half of Huckabee’s support would go to McCain over Romney if Huckabee were to drop out. ATTTENTION GOP ELITES THE PARTY WILL NOT SUPPORT MITT ROMNEY! The party could have stopped McCain in S.C., but they were too busy stopping Huckabee. So now they get to reap what they sowed. McCain for President.

Brett: Your comment “The party could have stopped McCain in S.C., but they were too busy stopping Huckabee. So now they get to reap what they sowed.”

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!

Comment by Daniel

The whole issue here (and the one that Romney is pointing at) is the fact that Huckabee is competing NOT for President - but for the second place spot! That’s all he can achieve, and that’s all he’s aiming at. His main motivation the past few days has been to degrade Romney through every opportunity he has, in a hope that he may be able to beat him and take second place.

The fact is, the Republican nomination IS merely down to two candidates. McCain or Romney. No one else has a chance. So.. if you want to vote for McCain, that’s fine. But if you don’t want McCain and you want Huckabee instead… well, voting for Huckabee ain’t gonna’ help. You’re better off voting for Romney, because he’s the only one now able to beat him.

Huckabee is a preacher. Yeah, a Governor on the side line, but that’s not how he’s running. He’s running as a preacher. He’s claiming the evangelical vote - and that’s about it. If he was hoping to start his own church - then yeah, he’s on track. But running for President? - not a chance.

McCain or Romnney. Make your choice.

A vote for Huckabee IS a vote for McCain. That’s simply how it works.

Huckabee is only aiming for second place (and that for his own pride to say that he actually beat Romney - hence the accusations of late).

Comment by Get it Right!

Beth,
Maybe you would like to tell us about YOUR moral foundation?
Funny, how people can give Romney, McCain, Hillary, B. Hussein Obama, and Bill Clinton a free ride when it comes to morals and then attack Huckabee at every turn. Is it because the rest have no moral foundation? Maybe having no moral foundation makes them easier to accept?
Why is it that Huckabee is attacked constantly for his faith but Romney is never questioned about his? Do you know that Mormon women won’t go to heaven unless they please their husbands in this life and he calls for them in the next? Have you looked into their teachings and doctrines to see if Mitt lines up 100% with his religion? Do your research BEFORE you make your choice or let the media make it for you.
Obama has a very questionable association with Islam as well as with a radical African church but no one seems too worried about that.
I think people like you are the greatest hypocrites.
When every candidate is given the same opportunities in the media and held to the same level of standards we will have a fair election. Right now we have some being given a pass while others are pushed down and every fault exposed and published over and over again.

Comment by JOhn Scott

At no time has Romney said a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. In fact when asked the other night I think on Hannity and Colmes Romney said that Huckabee had every right to remain in the race just as he himself did and that he would not call for anyone to do so.

Huckabee is just upset because his attack on Romney’s religion didn’t bear the fruit he wanted so he wants to try to gain votes by fear.

Huckabee’s on record is very liberal when it comes to fiscal policy, big government, illegal immigration, and many other issues. The only area he is consistently conservative is on family issues.

Romney is also consistently conservative on family issues and is fiscally conservative. He was somewhat weak on illegal immigration as well.

The problem is that Huckabee thinks John McCain is going to give him a VP slot which I don’t think would ever materialize. Huckabee has become a polarizing figure like Clinton for the democrats in his attacks on Mormons, who make up a large part of the western and even midwest Republican base. Putting him on the ticket with McCain would hurt the Republicans. His only real chance would be to patch things up and cut a deal with Romney that he and Romney share the ticket, thus overcoming those bad feelings.

McCain might offer him a cabinet position but that’s about the best Huckabee can hope for in a McCain administration I think.

Comment by Dano

If Huckabee is going to accuse Mitt Romney, as has John McCain, that Mitt Romney was a slash and burn guy for Bain Capital, I’d like to see the evidence of it. Specifically, which companies did he slash and burn? I’d be willing to bet that if Mike Huckabee got a vote for every job that Mitt Romney got rid of, and if Mitt got a vote for every job that he created, that Mitt would win in a landslide.

Huckabee is both dishonest and disengenous.

what is it with this crap everyone is counting huckabee out. i get tired of being forced a candidate that the establishment thinks we should have. huck is about to turn these analysts and pollsters on their ears as he heads to the bible belt. i don’t feel he’s vying for a vp nod from mccain i think he truly has faith in his supporters who for the most part havent even got a chance to speak yet. and believes he can win the nomination. though the way the parties are doing things with taking delagates for states punishment they are just going to arrange it so mccain or romney gets the nod anyway. i think we should do away with caucases and the electoral college and go back to one vote one voice and the man or woman get elected by the people on popular vote.

Comment by mary miller

Mike Huckabee does not have a chance of winning the republican nomination. Mitt Romney is a decent smart man, he has a chance of defeating democrats. Mike Huckabee is letting his ego overide what is best for the country. It disgusts me. A vote for Huckabee, divides the conservative base like Perot did in the past. If he was truly concerned with doing what is right he would withdraw and support Romney.
McCain won’t beat Obama or Clinton.

A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain! Calling Romney names and accusing him of changing his positions, etc., etc., does not change my vote. I have decided a long time ago that my family and I will be voting for Romney! Win or lose he has my vote. Should McCain get the nominee — my vote goes to either Clinton or Obama. Huckabee is not a conservative. Huckabeenites are not logical–they would rather abandon what they call “conservatism” by voting Huckabee so that McCain becomes the nominee. How pathetic. Huckabee is nothing more that a selfish politician trying to secure his chances of becoming a VP. Well, I have news for you Huckabee–McCain will abandon you as soon as he gets the nomination. He has already promised the VP position to all those who endorsed him. Wisen up!

Romney is the dirtiest candidate out there but he sure likes to cry if someone challenges him on it. Mike Huckabee is the true conservative.

Sorry folks, a vote for Huckabee IS a vote for McCain. Unless you want to become

a non-existent party I urge all Conservatives to vote for Romney. If Huckabee were truly concerned about the Conservative movement, he would bow out so that we can live on. He is only concerned with himself and his ambitions. I wouldn’t mind if he COULD win, but he can’t. That’s just the facts.

Comment by Texas

Amber–you just proved my point. Huckabee supporters are illogical and ignorant. The media has never attacked Huckabee for his beliefs. The only negative attacks are from the Huckabee campaign. Huckabee started the rumors on mormonism. If you read the article by Carl Cameron yesterday on campaign ads — it shows that the only negative ads were from Huckabee.

Comment by Come on now.

Daniel,
Maybe you haven’t been paying attention to the facts just listening to the spin and drinking the kool-aide. Huckabee is within a percentage point of Romney and leading him in some polls for second place.
How do you and the media consider that this is a two man race? The only way is to be blinded by a biased against Huckabee NOT for his political views but rather his Christianity. I thought faith didn’t matter? Wasn’t that what Romney said and others have echoed? I guess that statement only applies if you belong to a cult or some extremist church.
Unless people get their heads screwed on straight they will continue to buy into this media contrived effort to push Huckabee out of the race.

Comment by Craig

It seems that Romney is the only candidate with any state-wide volunteer organization in place here in Georgia. I’m sure Huckabee has some votes around here but he doesn’t have any presence or any volunteer force in place. Romney has inspired many people–me included–to get out the vote for him and give the Republicans a chance in November.

Mark,

I don’t know where you been lately, but nobody is attacking Huckabee, except maybe the press. I have to admit that they are by and large ignoring him.

But Huckabee was launching huge attacks on Romney in Florida draining away his support so that McCain would win.

Its as plain as the nose on your face, both the Huckster and Rudy are trying to lobby McCain for a seat in the VP chair. Its sicking really. Huckabee all ready not capable of winning this, but he’ll stay in so that he can destabilize support for Romney.

Anyone who says otherwise is just not reading the signs on the wall.

Comment by Cephas

McCain was ready to abandon his supposed conservative values, if he ever had any!

Democrats say McCain nearly abandoned GOP
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/democrats-say-mccain-nearly-abandoned-gop-2007-03-28.html

McCain doesn’t deserve to be President, he doesn’t even deserve to be a Republican.
We can never trust him or take him seriously again!

Comment by Wally

I wish Mike Huckabee would have abandoned the race and be classy like John Edwards. McCain will win because Rudy Guliani bowed out so McCain will get all the liberal/moderate votes. A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.

Huckabee stays in so the conservative vote will be split. Mike Huckabee is shameless and is running to be John McCain’s VP. I am sure he and McCain have a deal. He is running for the liberal anti-Christian candidate John McCain. You know Jessica Simpson’s dad was once a Baptist preacher too…just like Huckabee, he abandoned his principles for success. Just because you once were a Baptist preacher does not mean you are a good Christian!

I am still hoping Romney will win. I am making one last donation online to Romney now. I might stay home in the General Election if McCain wins. He is the same as Hillary so I would not care if either one of the won. A liberal is a liberal.

Romney is our only chance!

Comment by Jeff

The media has all but dumped Huckabee, but he still has a chance if you would quit blindly following what the media tells you. Do your own research beyond the front page of the press and you may be surprised. Or maybe you just enjoy being manipulated. Unfortunately all to often elections are won by the rich through media buys. The good news is everyone gets a vote. The bad news is that uninformed votes count just as much as informed ones.

Have you looked into their teachings and doctrines to see if Mitt lines up 100% with his religion? Do your research BEFORE you make your choice or let the media make it for you.”

This is an extreme attempt at trying to twist someone’s beliefs to make them look weird. This is also exactly what Huckabee did with his statement about Jesus and Lucifer being brothers. I’m afraid that statements like these show how “unamerican” some people really are. And as for “do your research before you make your choice” - that is a clear contradiction to what you, yourself have done.

People read anti-mormon interpretations of Mormon doctrine - and then say that Romney doesn’t line up with it. Well, that’s true.

So now, let’s stop trying to pull the attention off the real issues, and see where the candidates stand. Obviously (due to comments like these) some Huckabee supporters cannot be very comfortable with where he stands, because they continue to pull attention away from the issues by making radical comments about Mormon doctrine.

Comment by Daniel

It is so typical to read Huckabee supporters criticise Romney - ON HIS BELIEFS. It is ridiculous that evangelicals are so close minded that they vote not on Presidential characteristics - or what is even ‘best for the country’ but out of a hatred of Mormonism. If Romney was not a Mormon, he would be fairing far far better among evangelicals… but simply because most of them have now been ‘tricked’ into believing the lies out there about Mormonism, they don’t want to vote for Romney.

Can any Huckabee supporter tell me how he even stands a chance of winning the election for president?? His support is only among evangelicals. He won Iowa (simply because of that) and has failed to achieve anything since. Of course, he is hoping to win the evangelical southern states - but not likely to win anywhere else. What is this guy really hoping for? (other than to be Vice-President for McCain).

I am so so dissapointed in evangelicals. Preaching from the pulpit NOT to vote for Romney - and in the name of God. Telling them lies about his beliefs so as to make them scared of him. See votingforsatan.com as an example. I have been called by an anti-Mormon preacher who with 250 other pastors are actively trying to stop a “mormon president” and are commanding their congregations to vote for Huckabee. It is ridiculous. Huckabee is bringing shame on the country.

Remember, he himself stated “don’t you know, Mormons believe Satan and Jesus are brothers??” to try and get the evangelical vote. I see this has already been stated in an earlier comment as a reason not to vote for Romney.

Wake up already! Vote for a President! Not a pastor-who-can-achieve-nothing!

Comment by Ray McDaniel

Wake up, all you Conservatives whose minds are being bent. Some of these developments in the campaign are not happening from day to day and event to event, but were well-planned before this all began.
There is a strong possibility, even a probability, that Romney and McCain, neither of whom ever was a Conservative, were in cahoots with each other in the beginning. Why? TO GET RID OF AND/OR DRAIN AND DEFEAT Conservative candidates.
Now they have reached the point in their joint scheme where Conservative voters have no one left to vote for, except for one of them. After all, you know, so they are telling you, we have reached the point where a vote for Romney is a vote for Hillary, a vote for McCain is a vote for McCain, and a vote for Huckabee is a vote wasted because HE can’t win.
So, they tell you, if you are a conservative, give up your values and vote for Romney, because he is “more conservative than McCain” (NEITHER of whom ever was).
You tell me, if you don’t get it yet, when McCain’s early showing was very low, WHY ELSE WOULD ROMNEY HAVE PUT MILLIONS OF HIS OWN DOLLARS INTO MCCAIN’S CAMPAIGN, THE MAN HE WAS ALLEGEDLY RUNNING AGAINST???????????
Before it’s too late, Conservatives need to start a third party, THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY. Thompson and Huckabee, or Huckabee and Thompson,or Huckabee. Let it be known that you will vote for the Conservatives and no one else. Otherwise, you will not vote at all. All the rest of the Republican Party will either vote for your Conservative candidates, or THEIR vote will be a vote for Hillary or Obama, whichever makes no difference to America.
Huckabee, his backers, all Conservatives, never quit. Don’t let McCain and Romney weasel their way to power. When their scheme succeeds, hit them both between their eyes with THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY and its candidates, for America’s sake.

Mate, look at the results. Huckabee is achieving nothing among non-evangelicals. Ron Paul stands a better chance on the national non-evangelical scale.

Romney on the other hand is reaching out across the board - even to the evangelicals. Romney has the cash! and the organisation to achieve great things. It is only Huckabee and the evangelicals-against-mormonism that are holding him back.

Huckabee simply will not win in a state where there is not a majority of evangelicals. How can you expect him to win a general election against the Democrats?

Comment by Paul

Romney’s strategy fell apart…he’s on the ropes and grasping for anything!
There’s no way he can win this….so why is he still in? He bet on doing well in
early primaries, with his millions and distortions…I’d like to add, but he has
not done what he set out to do…the end!

He needs to concede defeat and let Huck and McCain duke this out.

To comment by come on now, your are exactly right, it is all about Huckabee’s faith, when they have an opportunity they bring something up about it, I have known Mormon’s and studied their faith, and it is very different from Christianity and does not align with the Bible, they do most of their teachings through the Book Of Mormon and Great pearl of price, which by the way is something in there about not letting black people be in places of authority, “”"BUT NOW THAT HAS CHANGED”"”"” I wonder why, they have always believed that black people had the mark of Cain. Neither here nor there, Romney might be a nice man but he has flip flopped on issues and the biggest one is life of the child, he had that co-pay of 50.00 for abortions, now he says he is pro-life and has always been that way. And he did say that a vote for Huckabee was a vote for McCain. These people who want Romney to win have to try to tear down Huckabee because they know that he is going to lose. One thing Huckabee has not done is tear other candidates down, he does put out his issues that he is running on but the media just keeps pushing Romney and McCain. Talk about bias.

Comment by Arkansas

Huckabee says that we should not be attacking other candidates because of their religion–except when it comes to Romney, of course! LOL. Typical politician! The fact that he is the only one who campaigned with negative ads, and the only one who campaigned for Evangelicals, and the only one who brought religion into this campaign makes me think he is someone I could never trust.

MIke Huckabee: nice guy, a lot of fun-not the sharpest pencil in the drawer. Some of his answers on foreign policy and the economy are scary. He could propel us into a depression. Is that the legacy you want to leave your children and grandchildren? (Romney was valedictorian, and has a joint MBA/JD from Harvard. He launched Staples and Dominos. He eats economics for breakfast).
McCain: thank-you for your service in the war, and we have compassion for your horrendous experiences in it. But the Presidency? This would be another very scary choice because:
1. McCain has a violent temper. He has screamed the “F” word frequently at his fellow congressmen. By his own admission, he loses it…a lot. Some feel that there is residual psychological damage from his years spent as a POW. One congressman put it this way “You don’t want that guy anywhere near a trigger” (that includes nuclear triggers of the Prsidential kind)
2. McCain admits he know almost nothing about the economy. With our country teetering, we need a savvy, sharp, economocally brilliant President. Asia is at the door. A depression is not out of the question. We don’t have time to mess around with bigotry. We need someone who can turn this economy around-fast.
3. McCain and Hilary are very good friends. They went to Estonia together as Senators and held a drinking contest. This level of maturity is reserved for the immature, not people who want to run the (currently) most powerful country on the earth.
We no longer have time for high school popularity contests. We desperately need a real leader with serious intelligence.
We have friends who know their family well. They really ar wholesome. They will not bring scandal to the White House. They will keep it “white”. Mitt is not in this for the fame or power. He didn’t take a salary in Masachusetts, he won’t as President. He simply wants to help, and he knows how.
The smartest thing we could do for our posterity is to vote for Mitt and encourage others to do the same.

Personal Faith is our right….and anyone anywhere in this country is allowed to believe and have an opinion on how best to live a spiritual life. Religion is how we exercise that personal faith….Huckabee didn’t bring ‘religion’ into this campaign….he has talked about the importance of faith. There’s a big difference and I hope you will not confuse these again.

Mike Huckabee has no chance of winning at this point. His once surging poll numbers are now declining and he has no money and hasn’t gotten any significant endorsements.

He may be able to win a few states in the south but that’s it. Even that is questionable since South Carolina was tailor-made for him and he lost.

His record as a conservative is questionable. Most media sources say he is a social conservative but believes in the big government policies of a welfare state based on a philosophy that helping people is being Christ-like.

He is on Judical Watch’s list of the 10 Most Corrupt Politicians for 2007.

So, Huck is going nowhere. He is holding steady with about 20 percent support.

By staying in the race, Huckabee is acting as McCain’s wing man. He is splintering the conservative vote and protecting McCain from Romney. Romney does have money, endorsements, and his poll numbers have been slowing rising throughout this process. He has most of talk-radio behind him and could easily stage a comeback for conservative principals if only Huckabee would step aside. Rudy bowed out and gave all the liberal-to-moderate votes to McCain but Huck is refusing to do so for the conservative side of the party who are the people who believe in the policies of Ronald Reagan.

I don’t know if it his ego that keeps him from leaving but what is about to happen will be a travesty that conservatives will never forgive him for. He is a young guy (the youngest in the Republican field) and could live to fight again but if he does this he will forever forego any hope of being the nominee again. His only hope will be a VP slot on the McCain ticket but with the most crucial wing of the Republican party pledging to sit out any election with McCain at the top of the ticket, he will likely never be VP under those circumstances either and Hillary will be assured of becoming the 44th President of the United States.

The situation is extremely upsetting to me because I think Huckabee and his supporters are killing conservatism. If you are one of them, I would ask you to please think very carefully about what you are doing. I would further ask that you prayerfully consider it. As I see it, Reagan’s legacy rests in your hands and America’s future as the home of the free does too.

Mike Huckabee is the friend, helper, and defender of McCain. Both are losers and McCain is a very dangerous man “my friend….” Huckabee knows he can’t win, yet, he is willing to suck the lifeblood chances out of Mitt Romney getting the nimination because down deep he hates Romney because Romney is a Mormon. McCain has contempt for everyone but himself, but what Huckabee is doing is sneaky, devious, and corrupt. Is this what a true Christian man does?

I plead with all of you who may plan to vote for Huckabee, don’t do it. If we don’t defeat McCain now, we will all be paying higher taxes tomorrow. We will have a never ending flood of illegal Mexican aliens swarming into our nation and eating the bread of our children’s future (free of charge). We will be subjugated to the dictates of foreign nations, and we will kneel down at the altar of the global warming elite. Please don’t throw away your vote on Huckabee. Please don’t let McCain, a loose cannon, steal the republican party and change it into the neo-democratic party. If you love your country, please vote for Mitt Romney and save the republican party and possibly the nation as well.
Only your vote can keep McCain way from the whitehouse.

Karen, again you prove my point that you Huckabeebites are ignorant. There are no blacks in the Book of Mormon. You can read about Cain and Abel in the Old Testament–yes, the Bible. The same Bible that you and I read, study and ponder.

Why do you keep bringing religion into this campaign anyway? It is not like we are voting for the next preacher or evangelist. We are voting for the next President of the USA, for heaven’s sake. Religion and Politics do not go hand in hand. The fact is Huckabee is racking up votes from Evangelicals because he knows that is the only vote he is going to get. Huckabee is a Politician and a Preacher–enough said! He reminds me of Uriah Heep from Dicken’s David Copperfield.

fixing the tax code. To say he doesn’t have a economic plan that is truly Visionary for this country
is just listening to media. How about Tim Russert at one of debates…saying that the Fair Tax would never happen…
how’s that for media bias?

Read the polls. Polls are not always exactly right but they usually are close. Romney is still doing well. McCain has a slight edge, but if Huckabee voters go to Romney then Romney wins.

Comment by Paul

To all the Romney supporters on this:

Romney has lost….get over it, he can’t win now please ask him to drop out.

We need to see who the conservatives will pick out of the remaining two candidates.

Please.

Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges; also said Alito was too conservative for his liking
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President; publicly considered leaving the Republican Party in 2001 after he lost the primary
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

To Wally:

That is the biggest bunch of nonsense…that Huckabee supporters are going to go to Romney.

Romney is big-business blueblood…Huckabee’s supporters are Fair tax.

Romney has lost! Why can’t people understand that?

Knuckleheads Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter deserve John McCain. They were both slamming Huckabee early on because he wasn’t conservative enough. After all, you can’t be a true conservative if you have compassion for people. I hope Huckabee runs as an Independent if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination. Some of the people in the media who are known to represent conservatives are really starting to disgust me. This country needs a third party not controlled by big money and big mouth blowhards in the media.

Unless Huckabee gets out when history is written they will say that the Conservative movement was born in 1964 with Barry Goldwater and reached it’s zenith between 1981 and 1988 while Reagan was president, went into a decline and was finally killed in 2008 by Mike Huckabee who refused to get out of a race he couldn’t win and he handed the Republican party to the liberal/moderate wing headed by John McCain.

Mark my words.

As Enline6 said, it is very upsetting because I believe in everything Conservatives stand for.

Karen,

Please clarify your own research before you post about Mormon beliefs. There is no mention of blacks not being able to hold authority in the Book of Mormon or even the Pearl of Great Price. You do yourself and your fellow Huckabee supporters a disservice by showing how little you really understand - and thus by demonstrating that you political views have more to do with religion than politics.

To comment by Paul.

Yes, Huckabee brought Religion into this campaign by bringing up Romney’s Faith. You can twist and spin it all you want but I don’t trust Huckabee. Someone here made a comment that ‘Huckabee reminds them of Uriah Heep.” I agree.

Faith is our right indeed. Is that the same right that Romney has? If so, why don’t you Huckabeenites leave him and his faith alone. Compare Huckabee and Romney on how they’ve lived their lives. “By their fruits, ye shall know them.”

Its delegates awarded not the popular vote.
Quit worrying about some one elses religion or lack there of. Its none of your business and has nothing to do with being president.
You should be more worried about your taxes (which the dems will raise on all of us one way or the other), your jobs which are being forced out of the country due to regulations and taxes, and your pensions invested in the stock market. Wall street does not want a dem.
Huckabee go home. Theres no way you can win. Did some one promise you a spot if you stay in to knock out Romney?
Republicans want Hill/Bill to get the nom. They have more ammo agaisnt her.
McCain says he sees the light and now knows what the people want. Why isn’t he called a flip flopper.?
We need both McCain and Romney. Too bad they can’t run together. One on defense issues and the other on the economy. The 2 most important things for the nation. Without them we have nothing.

To Comment by Ci2Eye:

Unless Romney gets out history will write that Romney caused the fall of Conservativism, because he and his millions wouldn’t concede that he has failed to win….

Romney is the one messing this up…he bid for the early primaries and he didn’t win them.

To Comment by Arkansas:

Romney has his right to his Faith…but the people have the right to select if they have confidence in his Faith. The gov’t will make no test…that doesn’t mean that the people have to be blind and stupid.

Huckabee Supporters…..

Where are the Huckabee Kids supporting their Father????????

WHy is McCain and Romney vurtually tied with number of votes cast for them at 1.2 mil each, with Huckabee far behind at 700K?

Huckabee is splitting votes in the south with McCain except for in 1 state….

Romney is set to win many of the western states……

McCain is set to win many NE states except Mass.

How can your candidate win? ALL he is doing now is splintering the Conservative vote and allowing McCain to win overall deligate count.

This will not be over on Tuesday, and may run all the way to the Convention.

Mitt has my vote, AND my money, and will get more from me if he needs it!

Funny how recently Gov. Huckabee was “liberal” and unacceptable for conservatives. Now he is dividing the conservative vote???

Sounds like the same attack lines that are being leveled against Sen. McCain, now.

Gov. Huckabee is the conservative choice. Between the four candidates still running, the outside the beltway guy with the most executive experience is Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Get it Right-
First of all, I want to appologize for my statements before. They were made out of frustration, and were out of line. It is just easier to say with one broad sweeping statement than it is to lay it all out…I’m not very fast at typing or very good at spelling.

My moral foundation, strong though it is, is not the issue. I am not running for president. Huckabee is, and here is what I have seen after following this closely for two months.

Huckabee came out of nowhere when Norris endorsed him and he they put together a very clever string of commercials. I thought it was great, and really liked Huckabee at that point.

The first debate I watched carefully was in November. I thought Huckabee did a great job and came across as funny and likable. I though Romney came across as AWESOME. He was articulate, and had well thought out plans on every issue. At that point, my two favorites were Huckabee and Romeny, and I really liked Thompson on the issues, but he only came across as sleepy.

The more I saw of Huckabee, though, throughout December and into the Iowa caucuses, the less I liked him. I noticed that he would say one thing in a debate, say another in an interview and do yet another through mailings and ads.

Plus, always turning everything into a joke just makes him look less serious. These are important issues we are talking about and I didn’t/don’t like that he makes light of just about everything. Just a personal feeling.

He presents himself as the only candidate who has not gone negative, yet he has from the beginning. He is just so two faced that he won’t do it in public, where the media can get ahold of it. He does it through the internet and through mailings and fliers. Stabbing other candidates in the back.

At least Romney and McCain will say what they think to each other’s faces. Huckabee won’t. That to me, as a christian, is deplorable. It is reminiscent of the ladies of the church I went to growing up. You know the ones…they are so nice to each other face to face, but when someone leaves the room, they rip them apart. Did you hear….. It makes me sick because it makes christians look BAD. This is the main argument against Christians that I hear at work. Huckabee hasn’t done a thing to disway this argument. He has given fuel to the liberal fire that says christians are hypocrites. That is sad and sickening.

1 Corinthians 10:32 “Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks, or the church of God.”

Mike Huckabee is the BEST candidate in this race - the most executive experience of anyone running, Republican or Democrat. He was re-elected Governor of Arkansas until his term limits expired. He was their Lt. Gov prior to that. He was named one of the Best Five Governors in America by Time Magazine. He is a true fiscal conservative and he will be receiving our votes!

WE TRUST MIKE HUCKABEE!!!!

Paul,

You have to face the facts.

Only one of the two conservative choices can win. Compared to Huckabee:

Romney has more delegates

Romney has more wins - Three

Romney has more seconds or “silvers” as he calls them - Three

Romney has more total votes cast for him so far

Romney has more money to compete

Romney has higher poll numbers

Romney has all of the conservative influencers like talk radion lining up behind him

I liked Huckabee too at one point b
