Romney Talks Post-Super Tuesday

Denver, CO–

Mitt Romney was welcomed to Colorado by the endorsement of the Denver Post and several hundred enthusiastic supporters at a Ford dealership today. The crowd chanted, “We want Mitt, we want Mitt!” Romney answered the boisterous crowd, “You are getting the full Monty. Don’t worry.”

After the event, Romney went outside for a press conference where a shouting war began between supporters and anti-abortion protestors. Romney previously supported abortion rights when he ran for governor in 2002, but changed his mind during his term
and now says he is staunchly anti-abortion rights.

Even with the competing camps, the press availability went on with the governor pausing and even chuckling at times because of the noise.

The campaign said yesterday that the GOP nominee would not be decided on Super Tuesday. Today, Romney addressed the February 5th contests and the potential of going past Tuesday. He admitted being incorrect in predicting what would happen in earlier primaries:

“I have been so wrong in predicting what would happen. I mean, I thought I would win Iowa, New Hampshire and Mayor Giuliani would be almost an impregnable force in Florida. And all three of those things ended up being wrong. This race has been so much more fluid then we would have expected that it’s really hard to predict what’ll happen,” Romney told reporters, “I really thought it would all be over, you know, early in January. And now we’re going to go into February, and I just can’t predict what’s going to happen in February, so you know, we’ll see what happens. I can’t predict the outcome.”

Primaries after February 5th that the campaign could focus on include Kansas, Virginia, Ohio, and Texas. But, the presidential hopeful wouldn’t let on where the campaign is eyeing next:

“I have to be honest, I’m not sure what states I’m going to focus on. Prior to February 5th, my campaign team and I looked at the map of the country. We are looking at where I’ve got the greatest support. Where I have the best chances of picking up delegates and adjusting the schedule,” Romney said, “So after February 5th what the schedule at that point will look like will surely depend on what happens on February 5th and what the lay of the political landscape is then.”

I believe there are few leaders in this country who would not envy Mitt Romney’s record, if the truth were told. One thing I admire is that he hasn’t tried to deny that he changed his mind on a couple of issues (if you never re-examine your choices and the situation you never learn anything). He has been straightforward with his changes in opinion, unlike McCain who flatly denies something that he is too dumb to realize is pretty easy to disprove.

Folks,

This is all we need to know about Juan McCain

Democrats say McCain nearly abandoned GOP

How can we ever take him seriously or trust him ever again!?!

Why is Huckabee Slamming Romney when McCain is the obvious Front Runner? He should be slamming McCain!

Today’s News 2.1.08
HEADLINES

Huckabee: A Vote for Romney is a Vote for Hillary CBS News
Huckabee: Romney Shifted on Key Issues The Associated Press
Huckabee Continues Slamming Romney CBS News

Look at it this way: McCain can never win without the conservatives and Huckabee cannot win without the moderates. Thus, they probably have a secret agreement between them to have a ticket with McCain for Pres. to get the moderate vote and Huckabee for VP to get the conservative vote. Either way they both are selling themselves out as most conservatives cannot stomach McCain who seems at times to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A McCain-Huckabee ticket will flat out lose in the general election. Face it.

The question may be asked, why would these two agree to such an arrangement? Simple, McCain is power-hungry and Huckabee does not want a Mormon in the White House. (Sad, but true.) That, my friends, is the only reason why Huckabee is staying in the race and continuing to tacitly support McCain (his response that he has “never known McCain to be dishonest” when he and everyone else knew that McCain was lying) while trying to undermine Romney.
Vote Mitt Romney if you want conservativism to continue!

Comment by Linda

I hope Mitt will continue to fight for the right. He is the most viable presidential candidate, he is the only hope for our country, if we choose to vote for Juan Mexccain, then we deserve what we got. People, don’t punish me and my family. skip Mexccain, Vote for Romney.

Comment by Paul

Sorry Huckabee. a vote for you is a vote for Democrat Lite John McCain. Apparently McCain was close to crossing over to being an official Democrat back in 2001. Just remember as conservatives pass on Romney to vote Huckabee allowing McCain to run away with the nomination that when a Democrat facing a Democrat in the general election a Democrat will win.

Right on …..Paul.

Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges; also said Alito was too conservative for his liking
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President; publicly considered leaving the Republican Party in 2001 after he lost the primary
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

Well all I can say is the Romney propaganda machine is very hard at work.

Remember…a vote for Mitt is a vote for Hillary.

I’d really like to see where you are getting your numbers because Rasmussen, Survey USA, Insider Advantage, and Reuters/Zogby all agree that McCain beats Hillary by an average of 8% and Obama by 7% while Romney loses to Clinton by 12% and Obama by 17%. Hell Huckabee does better against Hillary or Obama than Romney does. And don’t come at me with media polls. Those are ridiculously inaccurate and rank up there with American Research Group as the polls that are the most inaccurate. Disagree with me on matters of opinion all you want and I won’t begrudge you that, but don’t come to me suggesting crap like “recent polls show this” without citing your sources and backing yourself up. You will lose…badly.

John McCain is a liberal disguised as a Republican…plain and simple. No propaganda behind that. His voting record is proof in itself. At this point in his life, he’ll say anything and everything to win. And to the left-leaning liberal media that praises Gov. Schwarzeneggar and former Mayor Giuliani for endorsing McCain, well, they’re just as liberal as he is. And to think that Schwarzeneggar would be a better governor to California than Gray Davis, think again, he’s doing the same job that Davis had been doing before he got ousted. People can place a blind eye to the fact that illegal aliens have costed U.S. taxpayers millions to billions of dollars in healthcare, education, housing and U.S. social security benefits, but politicians like Schwarzeneggar, Giuliani and McCain think that it’s the best direction for this country. And that direction has put this country citizens in real pretty stuff right now. : ( Wake up America before this country turns into a third world country without a middle class.

After Super Tuesday the GOP field will surely be a two man race. No question.
If Romney can hold out until the GOP Convention . . . that will be telling!

Tim Russert offered McCain and Romney a 1-on-1 debate on Sunday’s Meet the Press.

Romney Accepted
McCain Rejected.

Many would question whether Mike Huckabee is a true conservative; I would question whether he is even a true CHRISTIAN! For an ex-Baptist preacher, the man sure has a potty mouth! Re: where to put the flag pole if anyone disagreed with his position on the Confederate flag, and also considering the risqué music/song lyrics used by Huckabee and his band, Capitol Offense (http://www.irdial.com/blogdial/?p=909). Imagine the pastor of your church singing H***y Tonk Woman or Devil With a Blue Dress (they’re offensive). It seems to me, this type of music would appeal more to liberals. Mike Huckabee and Hillary Clinton both are having an MTV event today; perhaps Huckabee and his band will find a “clean” song or two to perform during the event?

Huckabee has a history of corruption and lack of ethics and is one of two republican presidential candidates on the list of TOP TEN MOST CORRUPT POLITICIANS of 2007 (www.judicialwatch.org). One example, after being married for 30 years, Huckabee set up a WEDDING registry at Target for him and his wife to receive gifts for their house. The wedding registry was a way to avoid ethics laws prohibiting gifts to politicians.

Huckabee has also spawned a son who stoned and hung a dog to death. David was fired as a Boy Scout’s counselor for disobeying the “Be Kind” rule. Daddy Huck hindered the police investigation of David for animal cruelty. This should bring pause to anyone thinking of voting for Huckabee. Family animal cruelty issues often times indicate other problems as well.

I truly believe Mike Huckabee is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I read somewhere that he wants to be the opening act for a Led Zeppelin concert. Which does Huckabee want more, to be a rock star or to be the president of the US? I for one, will not be voting for this rock-star-wanna-be. I hope other voters will do their homework and really learn about the candidates rather than just voting party lines and/or for whoever SEEMS to be the most conservative. Please don’t follow Mike Huckabee like blind sheep simply because he can joke around and was a minister. Actions always speak louder than words. Just ask those people who believed in Ted Haggard or Jimmy Swaggert.

Even if somehow, Mike Huckabee were to win the Repub nomination, he could never win in a general election. Just imagine the confederate flag flap being played over and over on the Democrat’s TV ads. And does anyone seriously think independents or moderates would vote for Mike Huckabee when he has made it clear that he would change the Constitution to ban abortions and gay marriage? Regardless of anyone’s view on abortion and gays, no candidate will win the White House by alienating so many Democrats and even moderates and independents on these issues.

Here is the dirty big secret that Dick Morris, the Democrats and liberal media do not want McCain and Huckabee supporters to understand until AFTER the Republican primary is over:
1. a vote for Huckabee at this point in the race is a vote for McCain. Huckabee cannot win the primary and is almost out of money.
2. a vote for McCain in the Primary is a vote for Obama or Clinton in the general election.
McCain cannot win the general election and McCain knows that without the base of the Republican party he, like Dole before him, will loose. The base will never support liberal McCain. Anyone voting on super Tuesday and beyond who is considering McCain or Huckabee needs to think long and hard about the impact of their vote. If you prefer President Obama or Clinton over Romney, then vote for McCain or Huckabee my friends.

Hi Shelby, (February 2nd, 2008 at 7:43 am )

Regarding David Huckabee’s scout camp torture and killing of the dog; the problem I have with it is the heavy handed way Mike Huckabee used his power to settle a personal vendetta.

From a Newsweek article: ( http://www.newsweek.com/id/78241 )

John Bailey, who at the time was a career law enforcement veteran and serving as the Director of the Arkansas State Police was presured by Governor Huckabee’s chief of staff and personal lawyer. Both leaned on him to write a letter officially denying the local prosecutor’s request [to investigate David Huckabee’s offence].

Bailey, a career officer who had been appointed chief by Huckabee’s Democratic predecessor, said he viewed the lawyer’s intervention as improper and terminated the conversation.

Seven months later, he was called into Huckabee’s office and fired. “I’ve lost confidence in your ability to do your job,” Bailey says Huckabee told him. One reason Huckabee cited was “I couldn’t get you to help me with my son when I had that problem.”

Boys will be boys . . . and some men as well.

huckabee’s jealousy over mitt romney’s wealth is anothe reason i question his credentials as real christian. one of the ten commandments says we are not to covet what our neighbor has.

also tells us we are to judge not lest ye be judged.

an article by cameron that came out yesterday said that univ of wi did a study on all the advertising thus far in the presidential primaries. only one ad was negative and it was by none other than the former preacher.
yet he and mcnasty keep saying romney is running negative ads. if you can’t show issue ads on one’s record, the we should put an end to all advertisiing.

It’s now more obvious than ever that the Socialists have hijacked the Republican party. They have spread their cancer effectively throughout the party with the likes of Dick Morris, Jeraldo Rivera, Arnold Swartzeneggar, Guiliani, etc.

The nomination of John McCain will seal the fate of Republicans and the Clintons and Obama will then take over the reigns. A very naive American public is in the process of writing the death certificate of the United States Of America.

I now hear that the rebate checks that will be going out shortly will also be sent to tens of thousands of illegal aliens! And that McCain has known about this and supports it. I do not work my but off to give money to people here illegally that don’t pay taxes in the first place. What is wrong with this county? It is so sad how far “conservatives” of the GOP have fallen.

Comment by Tell me What?

I like the new ad running for Romney and how he starts out slamming Hillary’s experience. That only convinced me that Romney thinks Hillary will win the democratic nomination and he knows he can’t win in the general election against an intelligent, experienced and a strong leader.

Silly silly you Romney!

Comment by D.A.

It was not fair how the media has said this is a two man race when Huckabee has 40 delegates and is still rating top in many southern states. He only needs a state or two to back on top. It isn’t fair to accuse Him of siphoning votes away from Romney. Huckabee said early on in the RACE he was not going for second place He was running for President. I am insulted as a Huckabee Vote to have the media say my vote is a vote for McCain or my vote is unimportant. I am an AMERICAN, I HAVE A VOICE, I HAVE A CHOICE, I HAVE A RIGHT, and MY vote has been and will be for HUCKABEE. The media will not scare me into selling out my VOICE, they will not sway my vote. I will stand firm for what I believe. Huckabians If you feel afraid to vote for Huckabee because the media has said it will split the votes than you are selling out to the media. Do not be ruled by FEAR. BE GUIDED BY HOPE!!! We still do have a prayer!

Comment by Glen

Romney is not a conservative. I can’t understand how anyone can trust this guy (Romney). Is it because he is RICH?

The only way that the Republican can keep the White House is if Huckabee and McCain are on the ticket (Huckabee for President and McCain for Vice President).

Romney said;

“I promised that if elected, I’d call a truce - a moratorium, if you will…I vowed to veto any legislation that sought to change the existing rules…I fully respect and will fully protect a woman’s right to choose.”

(Taken form http://www.perrspectives.com).

He raised fees, but he said he didn’t increase taxes. Give me a break!!!.

Comment by Rodney

All I ask of my fellow republicans is to take the time to research the candidates records. I don’t mean listen to what the media says. For example, many people are praising Romney as the only conservative candidate. I dare you, I challenge you to go to True Romney.com. It is documented facts, not opinions or talking points. It will give you the references to back up their statements, including media clips, photos etc. For example, ask governor Romney why that out of his 36 judicial nominees, why only 9 were republican! On Meet the Press Romney claims to have received the endorsement of the NRA in the 2002 governor race, he lied, they supported the democratic opponent! In 1994 the Gay and Lesbian paper called, “Bay Windows” has a picture of Romney on the front page, with this quote, “Romney: I’ll be better than Ted for gay rights! Why did Romney and his wife attend a Planned Parenthood fundraising event and then donated $150? Ask Romney why he supported a Gay and Lesbian Youth Day and spent $100,000’s of tax dollars for it. Ask Mitt why he now attacks Huckabee, yet in 2005 said that Huckabee would make a good president; by the way, that is partly because Huckabee was voted in to be chairman over all 50 governors! How close to be president can you get? Ask Mitt why in a poll 70% of the people from Mass. Said that Mitt was doing a fair to poor job as governor. Ask Mitt, why did he slam Huckabee for wanting to help the children of illegal immigrants go to college when this is Mitt’s own quote, “I hate the idea in anyway making it more difficult for kids, even those who are illegal aliens, to afford college in our state.” Why did he recently say that he has always been a republican, when in fact in the 90’s he was an Independent? I could go on and on! It’s time for the gloves to come off! I believe so strongly that Mitt is not the conservative many of you are claiming him to be that I will challenge any of you to an open debate with the facts! I will even consider flying somewhere if needed. Otherwise, put up or shut-up, this includes Laura Ingram who I have lost all respect for today, she claims to be pro-life, yet is endorsing Mitt. There is only one candidate that has consistently voted pro-life and that is Huckabee. Wake up America! Mitt Romney is not the conservative he claims to be, and McCain is about as liberal as you can get and still call yourself a Republican!

Huckabee cannot run from his record. He is a liar and a thief according to Judicial Watch.

A vote for Huckabee is a vote for corruption.

Comment by Gary S.

I think the media has swayed the public opinion so much about this election, that is why Romney (may) be behind and could lose the nomination. Over and over again, he wins the conservative vote everywhere. I have a proposal? If, as many believe, a vote for Huck or McCain is a vote for Hillary, why not have Mitt run as an independant if he doesn’t get the nomination. He could run on the “Conservative” ticket! Think about it. Maybe enough voters would be split between Hillary and McCain that Mitt could win it all! Now, if someone out there reading this has any real say so or influence, maybe you could be instrumental in making this happen, if necessary.

Romney lost Iowa after spending millions. Romney lost New Hampshire after spending millions. Romney lost SC after spending millions. Romney lost Florida after spending millions. What does that tell you? He is good at losing and spending millions while doing it. I am sure he can spend your money just as well as he spent not only his, but the $730 million of Massachusetts taxpayers money.

Romney won Wyoming which no other candidate campaigned for, none. Romney won Nevada which only Ron Paul contested. Romney won Michigan which is where he was born and his father was a 3 term Governor. Of course he should of won those.

Huckabee is statistically TIED with Romney nationally according to the RCP average. If you look at polls for Super Tuesday, Huckabee is ahead of Romney in more of them than he is behind. So exactly who is splitting the vote here?
