Huckabee got my vote this morning.

It’s highly unlikely he’ll win Florida, but 40-something states have yet to weigh in.

Any one but the plastic, pandering win-at-all-costs millionaire from Massachusetts!

Mitt Takes Florida Hands down.

Romney wins by 5………Romney is ahead in the national polls for 2 days now…..See rassmussen 4 day tracking poll…Get the word out.. the msm is sitting on this news……Go Mitt

Comment by Chad

I’m a Romney support but I think that McCain will win. There are too many veterans and too many 65+ in Florida. In addition, McCain has had name recognition for sometime and seems to be the default candidate for a lot of people. If McCain wins, he almost surely locks up the nomination, which I find troubling. I am all for bipartisianship, but I would much prefer a Republican who gets Democrats to work on the Republican side and not the other way around like McCain has done in the past. If McCain wins, I will vote for Obama (if he gets the nomination). If Clinton gets the nomination, I don’t think I will vote for president. I really think America needs change in one direction or another and I don’t think McCain or Clinton will get it done. Here is for some fresh blood in the White House!

Comment by Mark

I am a Republican and have been for years. I am totally disgusted with this party. True conservatives are either not voting or this parties moving to the center or left.

Should McCain win the nomination, I will either not vote or move my vote to Obama. I DO NOT want another 4-8 years of Clinton. Also, I believe McCain is not a Republican and will not support the Republican party should they be blind enough to give the nomination to a traitor like McCain.

Let’s wake up and give this nomination to Romney; the better choice for the Republican party!

Comment by Jack

McCain or Romney will win for Republicans and it will be close. Hillary Clinton will absolutely destroy Barack Obama in a fashion that will show that all demographics accept her, not just blacks as in South Carolina. I look for Clinton to crush Obama by 15-20%, and I look for the press to either completely overlook Florida Democrats, or for Obama harpies to pretend as if the race didn’t matter in Florida, where Hillary has been leading solidly since this race began. How quickly they will forget the dire importance of Florida in 2000.

Whoever wins Florida for Republicans, and for Hillary, it will be a huge victory as Florida is one of a few states you must have for the nomination and for election. 500 votes decided 2000, the state is huge and it is diverse. It will be a good guide for how the campaign will go from here, as no one demographic really dominates the other.

Iowa was mostly white, South Carolina was mostly black, New Hampshire is mostly liberal, and Wyoming is mostly conservative. Florida is the first true test for the candidates as to how the country could vote. Since Obama and Edwards have abandoned the people of Florida, we can only wonder how they would fare in the eyes of a diverse American public.

Spoken like a true liberal, Mikey.

I’m for Mitt, but it’s hard to tell who will win, with all those robocalls full of lies from the McCain camp (that we heard on the radio today) and mailbox stuffing by white supremacists bashing Mormons who are supporting Huckabee’s “positive” campaign (copies of which can be found on the internet, too vulgar to link to.)

GO ROMNEY!!

Comment by Charlene Howard

I struggled in making a decistion between McCain or Romney. Both have their strengths. I ultimately voted for Mitt Romney but will not be dissapointed if John McCain wins. It’s going to very close. Perhaps a recount????????

American Woman,

Wow…the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree!
Just like your candidiate, you insult McCain’s supporters as liars and insinuate that Huckabee’s supporters are white supremacists…and you call me a true liberal. I’ve never voted for a candidate other than a Republican (nationally or locally) since I was 18 (I’m now 41). I will, however, vote for Obama (ironic for someone you call a white supremacist) before I would ever vote for Slick Mitt. If its Hillary vs. Romney, I’ll write-in Huckabee.

Comment by Jack

Also, in continuing my earlier comment about the press ignoring Florida Democrats — this blog post is just the start. When Clinton destroys Obama in a state without politicking and interference (voters deciding for THEMSELVES), a pin will drop for Democrats.

It’s sad when the press AND the DNC ignores Florida, much like when they ignored Wyoming when Romney won.

Comment by Nancy Korb

I’m a christian conservative Republican and I’ve only just decided for sure who I’m voting for. I’m in Pennsylvania and I’m pretty sure that most conservatives remember that McCain doesn’t like what we have to say. I’m also older and McCain doesn’t appeal to me at all. Nick Romney is my choice…though I wouldn’t have chosen any of these candidates. I would have voted for Fred Thompson, but he started so late that his campaign just never got any momentum.

Comment by Floridian

Nancy Korb,

Before you jump off the Romney cliff, at least learn enough about him to know his name - it’s Mitt (yea, like ball glove), not Nick. As a ‘Christian conservative’ you may want to think twice about voting for a candidate who (as a Mormon) thinks ‘Zion’ is a city in Utah (Salt Lake City).

Comment by Nancy Korb

If McCain wins the nomination I don’t know of any conservative who will vote for President. We’ll all go to the polls and vote for every other office except President. When he loses by 6 million non-votes, perhaps the Republicans will begin to listen. McCain is a liberal…his goal and the goal of the democrats is to try and squash the Conservative movement. He’s already shown that he is a liberal and doesn’t care how many of our rights he takes from us. He’s a dem in repubican clothing….not real.

Comment by Nancy Korb

I’m not voting for Mr. Romney’s religion…I’m voting for his politics. He will best represent my viewpoint in government…of the nominees presented.

Comment by John Tucker

Stop fighting, conservatives and republicans. All four guys have strengths and weaknesses. McCain’s track record on some big mistakes don’t thrill me. Romney’s pandering to Michigan voters does not thrill me. Huckabee’s the most liberal of the four and does not thrill me. Rudy’s pandering to Floridians does not thrill me.

Conservatives may have a better friend in McCain than they suspect - he’s truly the most fiscally conservative of the four and has a long record of it. For me that trumps some silly ideas he has on a few issues because the money used for those silly ideas will be coming mostly from the private sector (energy). That’s ok. Campaign finance legis. was stupid but did nothing - GOP was just slow and whiny to respond to what the Dem’s did with it. Immigration problem has to be solved, period.
Buck up and join the party or we’re really looking at a world of hurt with either Hill(totally untrustworthy) or Barack(feel-good won’t get it done).

I find it intriguing how people still consider the Mormon faith “Non - Christian”.
Furthermore….WHO CARES?!….Your comments are seemingly prejudice.
Mitt Romney has one hell of a financial portfolio that would be a positive benefit for our country.
He has accomplished many wonderful things for many other people.
God help us if “DADDY MAC” gets into the oval office. We all might be defecting to MEXICO!

Comment by David Miller

Party always trumps preference. I will always vote Republican. The division between Liberals and the Right is to wide open NOT to. I think that is why McCain needs to re register under the DNC.
However…. Since I do not se that happening any time to quick…… IF he were to recieve the GOP endorsement, it would be the ONLY way I would vote for him. OUCH! DID I JUST SAY THAT! A guy who gets KUDOS from Ole Smokin Joe Lieberman would get my vote; IF Romney somehow lost it all?……OOOH THE HORROR! THE HORROR! THE HORROR!

“I will, however, vote for Obama (ironic for someone you call a white supremacist) before I would ever vote for Slick Mitt. If its Hillary vs. Romney, I’ll write-in Huckabee.”

I don’t know how you can call yourself a Republican if you’d vote for Obama–who has very left leaning politics–over Romney. That’s just ridiculous! Don’t let campaign season vitriol taint your ability to think clearly.

I’m torn between Giuliani and Romney (I vote next Tuesday), but even though McCain has no shot of getting my vote in the primary, I’ll vote for the GOP candidate in the general election no matter what. Whoever it is will be better than Clinton or Obama.

Comment by Randall the Vandal

I don’t know who is going to win tonight but I’ll say this: All Megan Kelly needs is the curtain rod to look like Carol Burnett playing Scarlet O’Hara.

Comment by Jack

Well, CNN has just called it for Hillary. With 20% of the vote in, she is hovering around 20%+ of Obama — a resounding victory that will not be in vain as the DNC realizes their error and awards Hillary with the delegates she has rightfully won from Michigan and the linchpin state of Florida.

Which should mean at least 100 or more delegates for Clinton (from a total of 360).

Congratulations, Hillary, on a clear, decisive victory against Barack Obama in a state that will most definitely become crucial this election.

Comment by Kathleen

It’s time to gather around McCain, get the independents too, and make sure Billary and Obama don’t take this country down.

Comment by Jack

Kathleen, you have my condolences for when Hillary becomes President. The days of horrible failure will be over, and our country will finally be restored to the great nation it truly is.

I can only hope that you idiots on the red side pick Romney.

Comment by Kathleen

Jack — I hope you’re right that you idiots will pick Hillary to be your nominee! Her and Bill have unfortunately already disenfranchised the african-american vote.

Comment by Jack

Kathleen, you should check your polls sometime.

Mitt Romney will get crushed by Hillary. The only hope Republicans have to win is John McCain. Please, pick Romney. Please.

Comment by Randall the Vandal

All play and no work make Jack a dull boy (and a Democrat).

Comment by Kathleen

Jack — I checked the polls a couple weeks ago and they told me Rudy won Florida!

Comment by Jack

I’m actually Independent, which is why I’m not stupid enough to vote for Obama. I would vote Republican again for McCain. I’m still debating Romney, but he isn’t winning points.

Comment by Jack

Kathleen, that’s why you disregard polls a couple weeks ago. A week or less, otherwise it’s old.

Romney is still a losing horse, but doesn’t mean he would lose for sure. Just means I, as a Clinton supporter, would be much more worried if you picked McCain.

Comment by David Citron

This afternoon, I voted in the Florida Presidential Preference Primary.

Let me be among the first to say that the new system was poorly designed, poorly executed, and with a security hole big enough for any dishonest voter to drive a truck through, with no knowledge of computers necessary!

After the preliminaries, the pollworker retrieved the red and gray device that had to be plugged into the voting machine to activate it. After activation, A message popped up, asking whether I was Republican, Democrat, or Independent.

And she asked me what party!

I was horrified.

ANY voter could have easily voted in the Republican’s primary, just by lying to her. ANY voter could have easily voted in the Democrat’s primary, just by lying to her.

This information SHOULD have been taken from that paper. By asking the voter, she would have allowed ANYONE to vote in the Republican or Democrat primaries, in violation of Florida law.

In a properly-designed system, a unique code on the paper would have had to be entered on the machine. This would determine which ballot would be displayed.

Once again, our government has fixed a problem by creating a bigger problem.

I have no faith in the results of this election, because any politically active voter noticing this flaw early in the day could have mobilized a crowd to vote in the wrong primary, in violation of Florida law.

As a technical writer (author of software manuals and online help), I know a bit about usability, computer security, and user interfaces. Had any qualified computer people or security people tried out the prototype machine and/or software early in the development process, this serious flaw could have been detected in five minutes! And then prevented before millions of dollars were wasted.

I am hoping that an update to the firmware is all that is required to fix this security hole, and that it can be accomplished before the Florida primary this fall.

The politicians who authorized these systems owe us some serious answers about why this system was chosen with such obvious flaws.

Follow the money!

Comment by Kathleen

I voted today in a large county….I was given the Republican ballot based on my recorded registration and all I had to do was color in the circle next to my candidate and feed it into their machine. Must be different in your county David Citron.

Comment by Darlene Wagner

I look at Mc Cain and I feel tired. He really is to old to be runing for President and because of this one factor he will be defeated in the General election. Sadly Fox News and other power brokers of the Republican party have push him down our throat 24/7 at all cost. Mitt Romney is a man that would make a brighter future for my grandchildren and he is a gentleman I respect. I don’t think that Fox News has play fair in this election

Comment by Jeff

Rush, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, etc. tried to ram Romney down the Republican voters’ throats for the last few months. McCain, Huckabee, and Rudy supporters in Florida didn’t listen to the big power/money brokers and voted for who we wanted. Congratulations John McCain!

Comment by Floridian

Amen, Jeff!

We declare our independence from the Republican elite pundits and puppetmasters!

Comment by Jeff

I actually listened to Rush. He said not be be a mind-numbed robot! So I took his advice and didn’t listen to him and voted for McCain!

Comment by Linda

I am not for john Mccain and was very sad that Mitt Romney Didn’t win this Race in Florida but he might win the remainder of the Republican Primaries.

I urge each of you Americans that are still able to vote and haven’t voted to Vote for Romney. Please look at the link I am going to post since it shows that mccain is for Amnesty and if he wins the Election in November he will surely bring in the Illegals from Mexico and the Number will climb. The illegals should be sent back to their own Country of mexico.

If you True Republicans care for your Country and to secure the borders you will vote for Mitt Romney.
I am very happy that I voted for Mitt Romney since I believe he is the best choice of the Republican Party.

Here is the LInk that shows that mccain is for Amnesty : http://www.alipac.us/

If you don’t want to speak Spanish in the United States of America then I strongly suggest that you vote for Mitt Romney.

Don’t vote for Mccain since he will allow the Mexicans to have Amnesty and he surely doesn’t care about securing the border.

We need someone like Romney , since he knows how to run a business successfully and I am sure he will Run the Country and lead us to victory on the War on Terror and will surely give Jobs to Americans !

Mccain wants to give jobs to illegals ! Do you want that?

I hope Romney wins the Presidential Nomination!

Amazing how Romney’s supporters accuse every one else of bigotry and fear-mongering!

Pay attention everybody!!
Many people seem to be writing Huckabee off as if he hasn’t a prayer. He has been collecting delegates all along the way. He is second in many of the polls nationwide, but no one ever seems to report that. I happened to catch a key endorsement from a powerful group of African American (remember them?) religious leaders. Yes, there are others beside Jesse and Al Sharpton! People don’t REALLY want McCain and Romney is a little scary. I look forward to the results when all of us invisible voters make the truth known. RUN HUCKEE RUN!!
