Is Jon Voight Rudy’s secret weapon?

Pompano Beach, FL — One of the bright spots on the Giuliani campaign trail during the last week has been the omnipresent and always upbeat Jon Voight.

The award winning actor from “Deliverance” and “Midnight Cowboy” joined Giuliani on the trail two weeks ago and has been warming up audiences for him at almost every stop and spends a great deal of time joking around with the press corps.

But is Giuliani using Voight to his full potential? While much has been made of the tough guy endorsements on the GOP side—Chuck Norris (Huckabee) and Sly Stallone (McCain)—Voight’s performance in the 2004 lesser known flick, “Karate Dog,” shows that the 69-year old actor can hold his own–at least against an animated dog.

We asked him about the movie today as Voight threw a nerf football around with senior campaign adviser Tony Carbonetti at Giuliani’s Broward County headquarters. While Voight loses the fight with Karate Dog, the actor defended his abilities by noting that he was facing a “super dog.”

The actor, who also has a penchant for drawing metaphors between the campaign and his movies, said the lesson the Giuliani campaign can draw from Karate Dog, is “we’re in a battle, we have to be alert and we have got to stay away from dogs.”

If so, that’s a terrible secret weapon. Almost as terrible as Obama’s embracing of Democratic institutionalist senators John Kerry and Ted Kennedy.

I certainly hope so.I like Rudy Giulianis 12 commitments. He needs to remind everyone of those. My advice is do a national commercial telling everyone again with all the policies not just one.Say on FOX news channel & FOX Bussiness channel.People have very short memories.Think back people .My vote is for Rudy make it yours too. This country needs a strong person to lead on all levels & issues.Dont just vote to say you voted, make your vote count, remember there is good change & bad change, think.Good luck Rudy.

I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why endorsements from actors even matter, is it because weve all learned not to think for ourseleves and be entertained by mindless drivvel emanating from those dysfunctional Hollywood types.. They all make their careers portraying themselves to be someone or something they are not…. WOW thats what we also call a career politician… Maybe they are more the same than we realize… Voters use your own mind and dont rely on someone else to make up your mind for you… Especially actors…

We would love to see Rudy pull this one out but his strategy is flawed. I think people are now looking at each other saying, who is Rudy. Too much ground to make up, it will not be him. Hope I’m wrong!! Mc Cains’ dirty trick’s will hurt him in the long run. People are tired of Clintonian type campaigning and are tired of all the acrimony that has been inbeded in washington. On both sides of the isle.
