Obama nets Kennedy endorsements

On the campus of Washington, DC’s, American University, Senator Barack Obama was joined on stage with a trio of Kennedy’s: Congressman Patrick Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and Senator Ted Kennedy.

Caroline Kennedy spoke for only a few minutes, and explained that Obama “is already inspiring all Americans, young and old, to believe in ourselves, tying that belief to our highest ideals - ideals of hope, justice, opportunity and peace – and urging us to imagine that together we can do great things.” She then introduced her uncle, Senator Ted Kennedy.

The elder Kennedy, who spoke a bit longer than his niece, harkened back to the days when his brother was running for president. “There was another time, when another young candidate was running for President and challenging America to cross a New Frontier. He faced public criticism from the preceding Democratic President, who was widely respected in the party. Harry Truman said we needed ’someone with greater experience’—and added: ‘May I urge you to be patient.’ And John Kennedy replied: ‘The world is changing. The old ways will not do…It is time for a new generation of leadership.’ So it is with Barack Obama. He has lit a spark of hope amid the fierce urgency of now.”

In return, Obama paid the Kennedy family homage at the top of his own speech, and acknowledged that he, born in 1961, was too young to remember the days of Camelot. “Today isn’t just about politics for me. It’s personal. I was too young to remember John Kennedy and I was just a child when Robert Kennedy ran for President. But in the stories I heard growing up, I saw how my grandparents and mother spoke about them, and about that period in our nation’s life – as a time of great hope and achievement. And I think my own sense of what’s possible in this country comes in part from what they said America was like in the days of John and Robert Kennedy.’

It’s this torch, the Kennedy “dream” that Obama hopes to carry on in his own candidacy - “That is the dream we hold in our hearts. That is the kind of leadership we need in this country. And that is the kind of leadership I intend to offer as President. So make no mistake: the choice in this election is not between regions or religions or genders. It’s not about rich versus poor; young versus old; and it is not about black versus white. It’s about the past versus the future.”

Remarks of Caroline Kennedy
Introducing Senator Edward Kennedy
January 28, 2008
As Prepared for Delivery

Good Afternoon Everyone, and thank you, Patrick, for that introduction and for continuing our family’s proud tradition of public service.

It’s a special privilege to come to American University where President Kennedy made his immortal call for a peaceful world - a world made safe for diversity—a world that cherishes our children’s future.

Over the years, I’ve been deeply moved by the people who’ve told me they wish they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This longing is even more profound today. Fortunately, there is one candidate who offers that same sense of hope and inspiration and I am proud to endorse Senator Barack Obama for President.

I am happy that two of my own children are here with me, because they were the first people who made me realize that Barack Obama is the President we need. He is already inspiring all Americans, young and old, to believe in ourselves, tying that belief to our highest ideals - ideals of hope, justice, opportunity and peace – and urging us to imagine that together we can do great things.

My Uncle Teddy feels the same way, and I am proud to stand with him today. For more than four decades in the Senate, Teddy has led the fight on the most important issues of our time: civil rights, social justice, and economic opportunity. Workers, families, the elderly, the disabled, immigrants, and men and women in uniform – all have no stronger champion. He has stood with teachers, students and parents to improve our public schools and help with the high price of a college education. When it comes to fighting for quality, affordable health care, Teddy is in a league of his own.

I know his brothers would be so proud of him. He is an inspiration to all the members of our family – always looking to the future, never the past, always hopeful, always believing that we are capable of our very best. You know him well but I’m honored to introduce him now – Senator Edward Kennedy.

Remarks of Senator Edward M. Kennedy
On Endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for President
January 28, 2008
As Prepared for Delivery

Thank you, Caroline. Thank you for that wonderful introduction and for your courage and bold vision, for your insight and understanding, and for the power and reach of your words. Like you, we too “want a president who appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in the American Dream, and those around the world who still believe in the American ideal; and who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again.” Thank you, Caroline. Your mother and father would be so proud today.

Thank you, Patrick, for your leadership in Congress and for being here to celebrate and support a leader who truly has the power to inspire and make America good again, “from sea to shining sea.”

Thank you, American University.

I feel change in the air.

Every time I’ve been asked over the past year who I would support in the Democratic Primary, my answer has always been the same: I’ll support the candidate who inspires me, who inspires all of us, who can lift our vision and summon our hopes and renew our belief that our country’s best days are still to come.

I’ve found that candidate. And it looks to me like you have too.

But first, let me say how much I respect the strength, the work and dedication of two other Democrats still in the race, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards. They are my friends; they have been my colleagues in the Senate. John Edwards has been a powerful advocate for economic and social justice. And Hillary Clinton has been in the forefront on issues ranging from health care to the rights of women around the world. Whoever is our nominee will have my enthusiastic support.

Let there be no doubt: We are all committed to seeing a Democratic President in 2008.

But I believe there is one candidate who has extraordinary gifts of leadership and character, matched to the extraordinary demands of this moment in history.

He understands what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called the “fierce urgency of now.”

He will be a president who refuses to be trapped in the patterns of the past. He is a leader who sees the world clearly without being cynical. He is a fighter who cares passionately about the causes he believes in, without demonizing those who hold a different view.

He is tough-minded, but he also has an uncommon capacity to appeal to “the better angels of our nature.”

I am proud to stand here today and offer my help, my voice, my energy and my commitment to make Barack Obama the next President of the United States.

Like most of the nation, I was moved four years ago as he told us a profound truth—that we are not, we must not be, just red states and blue states, but one United States. And since that time I have marveled at his grit and his grace as he traveled this country and inspired record turnouts of people of all ages, of all races, of all genders, of all parties and faiths to get “fired up” and “ready to go.”

I’ve seen him connect with people from every walk of life and with Senators on both sides of the aisle. With every person he meets, every crowd he inspires, and everyone he touches, he generates new hope that our greatest days as a nation are still ahead, and this generation of Americans, like others before us, can unite to meet our own rendezvous with destiny.

We know the true record of Barack Obama. There is the courage he showed when so many others were silent or simply went along. From the beginning, he opposed the war in Iraq.

And let no one deny that truth.

There is the great intelligence of someone who could have had a glittering career in corporate law, but chose instead to serve his community and then enter public life.

There is the tireless skill of a Senator who was there in the early mornings to help us hammer out a needed compromise on immigration reform— who always saw a way to protect both national security and the dignity of people who do not have a vote. For them, he was a voice for justice.

And there is the clear effectiveness of Barack Obama in fashioning legislation to put high quality teachers in our classrooms—and in pushing and prodding the Senate to pass the most far-reaching ethics reform in its history.

Now, with Barack Obama, there is a new national leader who has given America a different kind of campaign—a campaign not just about himself, but about all of us. A campaign about the country we will become, if we can rise above the old politics that parses us into separate groups and puts us at odds with one another.

I remember another such time, in the 1960s, when I came to the Senate at the age of 30. We had a new president who inspired the nation, especially the young, to seek a new frontier. Those inspired young people marched, sat in at lunch counters, protested the war in Vietnam and served honorably in that war even when they opposed it.

They realized that when they asked what they could do for their country, they could change the world.

It was the young who led the first Earth Day and issued a clarion call to protect the environment; the young who enlisted in the cause of civil rights and equality for women; the young who joined the Peace Corps and showed the world the hopeful face of America.

At the fifth anniversary celebration of the Peace Corps, I asked one of those young Americans why they had volunteered.

And I will never forget the answer: “It was the first time someone asked me to do something for my country.”

This is another such time.

I sense the same kind of yearning today, the same kind of hunger to move on and move America forward. I see it not just in young people, but in all our people.

And in Barack Obama, I see not just the audacity, but the possibility of hope for the America that is yet to be.

What counts in our leadership is not the length of years in Washington, but the reach of our vision, the strength of our beliefs, and that rare quality of mind and spirit that can call forth the best in our country and our people.

With Barack Obama, we will turn the page on the old politics of misrepresentation and distortion.

With Barack Obama, we will close the book on the old politics of race against race, gender against gender, ethnic group against ethnic group, and straight against gay.

With Barack Obama, we will close the door on the old economics that has written off the poor and left the middle class poorer and less secure.

He offers a strategy for prosperity—so that America will once again lead the world in better standards of life.

With Barack Obama, we will break the old gridlock and finally make health care what it should be in America—a fundamental right for all, not just an expensive privilege for the few.

We will make the United States the great leader and not the great roadblock in the fateful fight against global warming.

And with Barack Obama, we will end a war in Iraq that he has always stood against, that has cost us the lives of thousands of our sons and daughters, and that America never should have fought.

I have seen him in the Senate. He will keep us strong and defend the nation against real threats of terrorism and proliferation.

So let us reject the counsels of doubt and calculation.

Let us remember that when Franklin Roosevelt envisioned Social Security, he didn’t decide—no, it was too ambitious, too big a dream, too hard.

When John Kennedy thought of going to the moon, he didn’t say no, it was too far, maybe we couldn’t get there and shouldn’t even try.

I am convinced we can reach our goals only if we are “not petty when our cause is so great”– only if we find a way past the stale ideas and stalemate of our times – only if we replace the politics of fear with the politics of hope – and only if we have the courage to choose change.

Barack Obama is the one person running for President who can bring us that change.

Barack Obama is the one person running for President who can be that change.

I love this country. I believe in the bright light of hope and possibility. I always have, even in the darkest hours. I know what America can achieve. I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it—and with Barack Obama, we can do it again.

I know that he’s ready to be President on day one. And when he raises his hand on Inauguration Day, at that very moment, we will lift the spirits of our nation and begin to restore America’s standing in the world.

There was another time, when another young candidate was running for President and challenging America to cross a New Frontier. He faced public criticism from the preceding Democratic President, who was widely respected in the party. Harry Truman said we needed “someone with greater experience”—and added: “May I urge you to be patient.” And John Kennedy replied: “The world is changing. The old ways will not do…It is time for a new generation of leadership.”

So it is with Barack Obama. He has lit a spark of hope amid the fierce urgency of now.

I believe that a wave of change is moving across America. If we do not turn aside, if we dare to set our course for the shores of hope, we together will go beyond the divisions of the past and find our place to build the America of the future.

My friends, I ask you to join in this historic journey — to have the courage to choose change.

It is time again for a new generation of leadership.

It is time now for Barack Obama.

Congratulations to Obama for netting yet another nod from the Washington insiders. He, a candidate for change, welcomes their politics as usual with open arms.

Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:

-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

JFK and RFK ordered the FBI to tap MLK’s phone and stalk him. The Kennedy brothers were still hunting commies while the civil rights movement was happening. Now Ed & Carolyn endorsed Senator Obama and the fools stood and cheered. Obama thinking JFK was for civil rights is just more of his historic revisionism. Those who don’t learn from (or know) history are doomed to repeat it.

I think that the endorsment by Ted (dumbass) Kennedy is most certianly the kiss of death for Obamas campain.

Ted Kennedy, his brother John Kennedy and all his family are responsible for the demise of this country. They sold it to the Devil. As for that still shouting,bid-mouthed ,traitor of Ted,the senator, it’s more than overdue for him to enter a nursing home.
Obama will never become President no matter how many endorsements he gets. He wants to be the first Black President with a White mother? No way!

What rubbish. Kennedy knows he can control Obama if he gets elected. I’ve seen the race card bantied about when Hillary criticizes Obama. Let’s look at the elephant in the living room…Sexism. The donkey good ol’ boys want a democrat in the White House but either they don’t want a woman in the White House or they don’t think she is electable against the Republicans. The press is having a hey day crucifying her at a rate of at least 10 times as bad as any other candidate. Since when is fashion flippin’ front page news in a presidential race…who EVER has questioned a male candidate’s character because he wore the same suit 2 days in a row?

I am sick of it. Here’s the biggest CHANGE of all: elect a woman President of the United States. Oh, and elect a STRONG WOMAN who understands how to keep Congress under control because she understands how Washington works. Elect a STRONG WOMAN who will take action on the abysmal way we educate our children, won’t just sit right down and negotiate with terrorist sponsoring countries and who knows how to balance our country’s budget (no small task given the horrific economic mess that W and “conservatives” [read: war-mongering greedy republicans] have gotten us into.

The Emperor’s clothes are definitely off..yes, time for change GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caroline Kennedy is as close to an American princess as one can get. She is intelligent, articulate, and basically apolitical. The Kennedy family endorsing Barack Obama is a wonderful compliment as well as good politically for him. There once was a place called Camelot…

Some Camelot! If you think a self-possessed man playing around with other women in the basement of his home while his wife is upstairs raising two children is Camelot then this country is in a whole lot a trouble!

Kenedies are respected figures even in this part of the world(MIDEAST), where an anti-Americanism is very high because of unbalanced Foreign Policies towards this region. with endorsment of kennedies there is a hope for Mr. B. Obama(who believes in dialogues rather than confrontations) to lead the race and win the election.

How can anyone vote for Obama ? Why won’t people ask Obama what he really believes in? Does he believe that the United states of America is a great country or does he believe in what his pastor says?

Has anyone taken the time to see that Obama’s pastor believes that America is no good , and that is what he preaches in Obama’s Church?

Why Vote for Obama Vote Republican! We are at war to Protect our Country from Extremists who don’t care what happens to our Beloved nation. Obama wants to Bring the troops home when the War is far from won!
The main man who started the War with the US is still out there, and I feel we would make a huge mistake if we pulled out of the war on Terror without catching the main man!

A REpublican President would Win the War and Not be a Coward like Obama IS!

That’s why I urge each and everyone of You Americans to Vote REpublican if you Care for your Country and your Armed Forces!

May God Bless America!

No person can compare to Martin Luther King, Jr. or John F. Kennedy in any manner.

Barack “HUSSEIN” Obama is a phony.

It sad that both the republican and democratic party has let huge numbers of America people live the hardness of day-to-day life to the point that it feels almost impossible to see the vision of the American Dream. The huge number of American people that face unemployment and no jobs, poor or no health care, small fixed income to live and many that have medications to take with no means to get medications, many families that make very hard decisions about purchasing expense gas for a vehicle to drive to work or having food on the table to eat each day, forced with decisions about purchasing medications required daily or pay a light or heat bill, and those that struggle to pay a house payments, and others (single or married) that lose it all and are forced to live in a car or others family members, or being unable to make car payments, etc. Our military have needs as well that must be addressed as well as - education neeps for children, college funding students, and technical skill training and college of displaced (unemployed) adults as well.

Living the American Dream can be extremely hard if the person has no money in their pocket to even obtain the basic needs to continue each day. With HILLARY CLINTON as president, the American people that have lost the smallest hope to find the Amerian Dream will know that they have been heard and that they count just as much as those with huge amounts of money, great wealth, etc. HILLARY CLINTON will turn hopeless into hope and enlight the spirit of all people.

HILLARY CLINTON is America’s True Presidential Leader that is ready to focus on the needs of the people and produce change for all people. It is so easy for leaders to speak smooth words without action.

With HILLARY CLINTON as president, she will talk the talk and walk the walk that produce change for all people. HILLARY CLINTON help keep the American Dream alive for all people.

HILLARY CLINTON is ready to do the presidential duties on day one.

HILLARY CLINTON is well educated and she will get the job done.

HILLARY CLINTON is a very hard worker and she will work for change for America.

HILLARY CLINTON will do many great things for America - she is truly committed to America.

HILLARY CLINTON is a doer for all people.

HILLARY CLINTON respects the American flag, she salutes the American flag, and she respects the national anthem as well.

HILLARY CLINTON will produce the DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL WIN for America–she can do it for all people. HILLARY CLINTON talks the talk and HILLARY CLINTON will walk the walk as President that produces change for all people. Especially the people without hope in America.

HILLARY CLINTON can do it and produce it as well.

Comment by anonymous voter

This now confirms what has been long suspected: Kennedy will support Barack Obama for one reason only: to ensure that if Barack Obama wins the nomination, he will call Hillary Clinton to be his vice-president.

Many of us swing voters have long suspected this since February 2007 when Hillary made a littl-mentioned, off-hand remark about being a vice-president should another candidate win. The “race” is nothing but a calculated “horserace” designed to make the two look “successful” by alternately winning in states.

Why else would the media continously show both Obama and Hillary in the spotlight 24/7 when the rest of the party and the GOP are in the background or mentioned once in a blue moon.

It is obvious that the media is attempting to do “subliminal messages” in the glare of the front page spotlight to keep people focused on just two choices.

Perhaps, this is always the case: “Never have one party retain control for too long or half the country will be incited into a modern day civil war.

So much for true freedom of choice.

Some of the comments here are really childish.

I happen to support Barack Obama, but no one can doubt the importance of Caroline Kennedy getting involved and endorsing Barack.

Also, Senator Ted Kennedy has been in the senate for over 40 years — talk about experience… So he trusts Obama to put together a stellar cabinet and get things back on track.

The Clintons, whether you like it or not, are a thing of the past. And their style of politics (divisive, negative, anything goes) are outdated.

It is 2008. And I’m supporting an extremely intelligent, qualified, inspirational and unique candidate: Barack Obama for President.

And I bet that it’s Obama versus Mitt Romney or McCain in November.

Taking over the Oval Office after Bush will be akin to inheriting a ruined post-Katrina patch of mud in New Orleans. Let’s hope that whoever is elected to take on such an unenviable job can offer more coherent, forward-thinking solutions than the bumblers from the Bush administration who let their own perish whilst feeding an insane, senseless war machine from which only the elite few have prospered: the Bush-Cheney cronies. The War on Terror has not decreased the threat of terrorism; it has, in fact, exponentially increased the number of terrorists hell-bent on destroying the United States, has shamed the country in the eyes of the world, and has destroyed the economy- all too evident to anybody who reads the front page of any newspaper.
That a Democrat must assume this office and begin to make a dent in the damage done by this administration is obvious. All three major candidates have integrity and vision, and have overwhelmingly voted the same way. So it becomes a personality contest. Edwards is the biggest risk-taker with regard to the environment. Obama and Clinton are playing race and gender cards. Maybe it’s time for a coalition: any two out of the top three in presidential and vice-presidential positions. After all, Cheney pulls Bush’s strings. Why not see what an actual team approach might do? Can any of the top three function as president and/or vice president?

When it comes to having experience before running for the office of President, I disagree with those who say that Bill Clinton did not have experience when he took the office. He had lot of experience doing it as governor of Arkansas, and he showed it too - remember Monica Lewinsky?

I don’t want any more gates. I want a good leader, a visionary, a mediator, a unitor, a president without cronies hanging around him, a president who can work for the general public instead of lobbiyists - that is OBAMA.

Ladies and Gentlemen plus all of us Hispanics; we are blessed today to have a viable candidate who displays judgment and character. BARACK OBAMA. I am a US Army veteran who’s son and too many of his comrades has returned from fighting in Iraq tragically injured. BARACK OBAMA saw that this was not the war we should be fighting and had the courage to say so when that was not not the popular stand to take. How much treasure and blood are we wiling to keep throwing at a pack of lies? To bring Bilary in as the Democratic candidate is to not only look backwards it is equal to handing the keys to the Republicans for another four years. I pray that my fellow americans realize that we are at a historic crosssroad and can right the ship by electing BARACK OBAMA as our next President. It will make America proud and bring brains back to our nations leadership. Dont blow it America the cost is too high. VOTE BARACK OBAMA NOW AMERICA, God Bless you all.

Lots of underwear in a bundle as Repubs see their dream of the Hillary anti-vote being chipped away. All previous posts about why Clinton is better than Obama, why Kennedys are irrelevant, on and on, are so thinly veiled and fake it brings me great delight. Barack Hussein Obama wants to bring this nation together, all of you have proven him right. There will always be doubters and nay-sayers…but thats ok :) because HOPE will win. I have only voted dem and green party but am actually pretty conservative, if Hillary Rodham Clinton is the nominee I will vote for McCain. If its Clinton v. Romney Ill get drunk that day and kiss America good bye. If its Obama v anyone Ill vote Obama. I find it exhilarating how many republicans are in the Obama bandwagon. My husband is repub and he is happily supporting Obama. This stack of republicans whom are up are hilariously horrendous. Well they would be if they had absolutely no chance. Obama will be within the ranks of Ronald Reagan, Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy. In the future he will not be the next so and so but the standard to which Americans hold their politicians. I’m just giddy because all of the hate that surrounds change motivates the rest of us to fight for change. Just like any other sentient being when it is attacked it only gets stronger. So thank you all of the Hillary supporters and all of those that want to fight change, whether you use racial language, or false characterizations. We shall overcome ALL AMERICANS not black nor white, gay nor straight, believer nor non believer. We want CHANGE and YES WE CAN

YES WE CAN
YES WE CAN
YES WE CAN…
AND WE LOVE ALL OF YOU…cause soon youll too be saying…
Yes We Can :)

[Congratulations to Obama for netting yet another nod from the Washington insiders. He, a candidate for change, welcomes their politics as usual with open arms.]

That is the most correct statement that can be made from these endorsements. Obama as much as he screams that he is a reformist and an agent of change has wrapped himself with another poster boy of old school politics, in Ted Kennedy. Ted Kennedy is everything Obama has been screaming that is wrong with Washington. And Caroline Kennedy was not old enough when he was murdered to remember anything politically about her father that has not come from the mouths of The Kennedy Camelot Mythology Disciples surrounding her, that would qualify her to compare the two individuals. Of the three main Democrat candidates Obama is the most appealing. But the real audacity of Obama is that he can call himself the agent of change. He comes from the dirtiest political arena in the country, Chicago Illinois. Which actually makes sense that the Kennedy’s would support Obama as the second coming of JFK, since it was the father of the current mayor of Chicago, Richard Daly that secured the JFK Presidential victory in a voting fraud scandal. Dirty Chicago political games have run the state of Illinois as long as many of us Illinoisans have been alive. Nobody is anybody in the Illinois political arena that does not kiss up to the Chicago Politicians. And as to his Illinois voting record people continue to miss the mark on what it means. All those present votes had nothing to do with anything other than Obama selling out to the politics as usual gang to assure political agendas.

Comment by Billie

I have just one question. If Ted Kennedy is so powerful, why has he never won the nomination? If he can’t win for himself, how is his endorsement so great for Obama. As for Caroline, she’s never been involved in politics, except for having the family name of Kennedy, and we all know how they started way back when. Come on people, wake up.

YES THANKS TOO ALL BEFORE WE CAN HOPEFULLY LOOK TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE, KENNEDY ENDORSE THE WORLD AN THIS CONTINUED BELIFE THAT SOME DAY THIS LAND SHOULD BE BLESSED UPON THESE IDEALS HELLO TEDDY.

Ted Kennedy is influential, but he drove a car into a lake when he was drunk once, and a girl died because of it. I’m sure he still feels awful about this, but he would never be able to run for president. He did in 1980 anyway, but he’s much too old now.

Just because Obama is trying to change politics in Washington, doesn’t mean he has to outright reject any endorsements he gets. He believes that most politicians are good, well-meaning people who resort to the types of things they do because it’s easier.

I hate when I hear people complaining that the American people know nothing about Obama so they can’t make a decision. If you want to learn more about Obama, read his books, “Dreams from my Father” and “The Audacity of Hope”. These are the words of an extremely insightful, even-tempered man, and one who I believe would make an excellent president, and he’s certainly been in politics long enough to prove himself.

LMAO @ Ted Kennedy feeling remorse. The only remorse Ted Kennedy had over the Mary Jo incident is the crocodile tears he has shed over it stifling hi political career. He tried to get friends to cover for him, he failed to notify the police, went back to his room cleaned up got some sleep and was seen gabbing with others considerable time before the police were finally involved.

Obama’s endorsement by Kennedy will get my support….yeah right! He gets endorsed by a drunken, broken down, old cogger and thinks people are going to swing their votes his way? Not bloody likely! Want a GOOD man for president? VOTE FOR MIKE HUCKABEE!!

Comment by Paula Angelique Hafner

Well, if Kennedy backs Obama, then he has my vote.

Been sitting on the fence for awhile. Now that Senator Wild Turkey has given Obama the kiss of death I will contact the McCain camp for some bumper stickers.

Amazing! Those who deny the greatness of Barack Obama’s candidacy are the ones who are most afraid of what the truth really is.

He may be running as a Democrat, but he has also made it clear that he is running as a American. He gives America re-newed hope that we so need and deserve today.

Obama is everything that President Bush is not and this is what we need. Let us put an end to Bush/Clinton “dynasty”. And let us put an end to what the last two generations have made us believe for so long.

Let it begin. Obama in 2008 is the only way to assure Americas prosperity.

Comment by Ryan F

The Kennedy’s endorsements are great for Obama. You can be the change candidate and get the endorsement of the powerful. This adds a level of legitimacy that is needed and shows that “Billary” is on its way out. Go Obama!

Comment by mrs. ruby

I don’t understand how people could believe anything that Bill Clinton or Hillary say. Bill Clinton has lied so many times to the American people—”I smoked but didn’t inhale”…”I NEVER had sex with that woman”…. etc.. Hillary adamately denied it also to Matt Lauer when asked.

It has been commented before, that the Clinton administration trashed such things as the White House and Air Force one before turning it over to the Bush administration, and removed things necessary to be able to function. This not only cost taxpayers unnecessary expenses, but also, is that the kind of “respectful” leader we would want to run our country?—one who can’t control herself or her staff and can’t give the Americans a truthful answer.

Also, I’ve read on the news that Clinton’s are paying their mortgage on their million dollar estate buy charging the government ~ $10,000.00 / month in rental on their property for Secret Service. They are already getting 2 large government incomes and benefits, etc.—is this the kind of taxpayer money Hillary is going to save?? I haven’t heard her offer to give some up to help this country’s economic problems—the Clinton campaign is full of hypocrisy and lies. Remember…. the White House and Air Force One were vandalized before they left it to the Bushes–think about it—it was a cost to this country.

OBAMA is working to bring UNITY to all Americans. CLintons vandalized the White House and Air Force one—that works against this country.

It makes me nervous when people from the middle east get on this blog and support a particular candidate like they are doing for Obama. If the Republicans supported Obama, would Democrats want to vote for him?

PLAIN TRUTHS:

HILLARY COULD COME UP WITH A CURE FOR AIDS, OR INVENT A NEW CLEANER TECHNOLOGY, OR PROPOSE A BRILLIANT WAY TO END POVERTY , BUT BECUASE SHE IS A CLINTON AND MARRIED TO BILL, NO ONE WILL LISTEN TO HER!

VOTE FOR HILLARY IF YOU WANT A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WITH NO HOPE OF RISING ABOVE THE POLARIZING POLITICS SHE AND HER HUSBAND WILL BE MIRED IN FROM DAY ONE. PEOPLE ON BOTHS SIDES OF THE AISLE HATE HILLARY AND WOULD RATHER SEE HER FAIL THAN SEE AMERICA SUCCEED. THE CLINTONS HAVE BURNED TOO MANY BRIDGES

(PLUS, THEY ARE THE REASON AL GORE IS NOT RUNNING AND DID NOT WIN WHEN WE NEEDED HIM MOST. WHY SHOULD WE REWARD THEM FOR THAT?)

VOTE FOR OBAMA IF YOU WANT A IMAGINATIVE, INSPIRING, QUALIFIED CANDIDATE AND TO SEE SOMETHING OTHER THAN DEVISIVE INFIGHTING. VOTE FOR OBAMA IF YOU WANT SOMEONE CAPABLE OF UNITING BOTH PARTIES TO GET THE IMPORTANT PROBLEMS FACING OUR COUNTRY FIXED.

AMERICA HAS A CHOICE AGAIN. WE FUMBLED THE LAST ELECTION BADLY, RE-ELECTING A PRESIDENT AND CABINET WHO LIED, CHEATED AND DESTROYED THE HARD WORK OF DEMOCRAT AND REPUBLICANS ALIKE. WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO SHOW THE WORLD WE AREN’T THE IDIOTS GEORGE W. BUSH HAS MADE US LOOK LIKE.

Do the Kennedy’s really want change or are they very comfortable with the “old boys network”?

Would be nice if Bonney Kapp would learn the rules of pluralization. “A trio of Kennedy’s?” Sheesh. My third grade teacher would have smacked me upside the head for that kind of mistake…

Radio no where. Obama is a self serving do gooder for the democratic cause, who came on the scene when most thinking young people have given up on the American hope. He is too late. We are too late. In this generation of traffic cameras, unmarked cars, money for nothing, and truth for sale, we freedom lovers are moving off stage and into the wings to make room for the Ha Ha boys of here and now.

They are not saying anything. Obama had a chance before the Kennedy merger. Now not so sure.
We were alive when Kenedy was president. That is what got us to this place.

Who do you think of when you think political dynasties in Washington? The Kennedys of course. Talk about business as usual Washington. Caroline is far removed and is following the advice of children. Ted has a more than dubious past. Who cares who they endorse. Go Hillary Go!

Comment by benvictor

I am a white male democrat supporting Hillary. Who is this Teddy? I remember him long ago as not a very nice guy. For the past 30 years, he has been a non-player in the party. Others have taken the leadership and while Teddy may be trying to vest control again, he will not succeed. He has long been passed by. So, good riddance to the has-been.

Obama’s the answer to the embarrassment of the last 7 years. Bush has destroyed the country and attempted to destroy the middle class. His “tax cuts” were tax cuts for the richest of the rich and should be reversed as soon as we get an intelligent person in the White House. The economy has been destroyed, in part because of Bush’s terrible decision to bomb a country that was absolutely NO THREAT TO THE US. Don’t let him bomb another country (Iran) that poses no threat. Let’s get those troops out right away - I’m sick of seeing so many good American kids die for a mistake.
Never before have I been so embarrassed to be an American.
Let’s get the White House back from corporate interests and back to Americans!

Comment by James

It sounds like some dynastic jealousy here. Teddy realizes the fading “Camelot” dynasty is threatened by the Clinton dynasty. The Kennedys look at the Clintons as noveau-rich trailer trash, (The Kennedys made their money the old-fashioned way, bootlegging) and themselves as true “aristocrats”. Also, Kennedy can control Obama, and get the presidential power by proxy that he can never get elected to because of all his scandels. No one, not even Bill, can order Hillary around.

Comment by dmr

Right on, Scott. Wouldn’t it be nice to have an administration you could count on, be proud of, and get behind? This self-serving evil empire no longer cares. The damage is done. Cheney and his cronies have skimmed enough money off the American people to keep their kids’ kids rolling in riches. Thirteen billion dollars in cash were delivered to Iraq to pay “contractors,” because the armed forces and the state department can’t seem to get along and come to any kind of agreement. Nine billion went missing. Never before in history has organized crime had such a heyday- and it’s engineered by the U.S. presidency! Embarrassment is an understatement- Try outrage!

Powerful speech!! I may have to go back to being a Democrat as I was in my youth!

Ted Kennedy is so transparent. He is jealous of the Clintons because Bill managed to achieve and Hillary may well achieve the role of president of the United States — something that Ted so desperately wanted.

The american people have long memories —- Ted Kennedy is a coward responsible for a young woman’s death. He blew his chances for the presidency a long time ago.

An endorsement from Ted is nothing to smile about.

The Kennedy’s endorsment could never peruade my vote. I have a mind of my own.But let me make it clear, it is about race ,the people of the great state of South Carolina made it perfectly clear. They voted for their own race. It has never been about race for me. Ms Oprah and her speech. Turned me off. I will vote for the person I fill will do the best for all of us in this great country. Not because of their color, male or female, democrat or republican.

Comment by Tim from Ohio

Regardless of who gets elected (Obama FTW), Karma will have its way with most of you ignorant fools before your lifetime is up, and I believe that will make for the greatest change in this country.

Comment by Cory Robertson

Th simple truth. Whether you’re supporting Clinton, or Obama, or even McCain, change is on the horizon. Obama is a visionary, Clinton a determined realist, and McCain a hardened soldier loyal to the U.S. What does NOT help us, is the lobbyists, the much overpaid members of congress who do not do their job, and a faulty president. The fact that we are dealing with issues of homosexuality, immigration, and taxes speaks for itself. Most of our problems right now could be solved simply by taking a breath, and looking at our country as a whole. Immigrants? WE ARE A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS. Homosexuality? WE ESCAPED TO AMERICA TO STOP PERSECUTION. And yet we have our leaders fighting about this and other WMD(weapons of mass distraction) instead of concentrating on the important issues at hand, namely the war. Change is on the horizon…we just have to decide which way it is headed.

The greatness of Ted’s endorsement to Obama is reflected by the CRY of Billary… and their blind supporters. Billary were in trauma and will say anything in coming days. Prepared to laugh at them and be ready for CHANGE.

It’s time of HOPE and messenger of HOPE.

Up until the endorsement by the Kennedy’s, and the Country Preacher Jesse Jackson, there was hope for Barrack Obama’s youthful idealism but since college students majoring in deviant behavior and organized crime are given the Kennedy family as examples to study despite the elegance of the “Camelot” White House. This family may not be the backing we really want to see for an, as yet, untarnished political figure. Let’s face it the Kennedy’s as a whole make the Clinton’s look like amateurs!

If Barrack Obama is truly serious he needs only himself and the people. Sadly, the weight of the Kennedy clan’s embarrassing behavior, sex scandals, drugs, alcoholism, murder, bought elections, wealth based on illegal alcohol distilleries during prohibition, leaving the scene of a crime, organized crime connections does not increase Obama’s marketability!!! The young Senator’s appeal lies in his being a decent, honest man well-qualified to effectively lead the nation out of past mistakes and restore hope and dignity. He does not need such endorsements, despite his graciousness in receiving them. The time of the Kennedy, Clinton and Bush legacy is gone. It is history - and we need to leave it to the young to formally study, analyze, and debate the merits of these often crude political dynasties while building a new administration, based on honesty and integrity.

Definitely read this for a little more information on your candidate

Caroline Kennedy is as close to an American princess as one can get. She is intelligent, articulate, and basically apolitical. The Kennedy family endorsing Barack Obama is a wonderful compliment as well as good politically for him. There once was a place called Camelot…

Robin,
You have got to be kidding, right? Ted Kennedy is lucky just to still be in goverment office, after getting away with murdering his mistress. The rest of the family, ted included, has been plagued with drugs and alcohol problems and we are suppose to rejoice in the fact that he is supporting Obama? Nope, actually it has had the opposite effect because so many people are thinking, especially the ones that remember the Kennedy scandals, that this is a good thing for Hillary. And they are correct!!

Comment by E.L.T

I bet you Clintonites would be singing a different tune had all the Kennedys rallied behind Hillary. You’d take great pleasure in saying that the wisdom of the old guard is putting their support behind the best candidate. Hillary has endorsements by controversial people. Why is no one jumping on Clinton for accepting Charlie “lets bring back the draft” Rangell’s endorsement? Or Los Angles’s mayor, Mr. Bone-the-news-anchor? Why is no one questioning her acceptance of those endorsements? And for the millionth time… BILL’S EXPERIENCE DOESN’T AUTOMATICALLY ROLL OVER TO HILLARY. This is not your AT&T calling plan with rollover minutes.
