Hillary Excited About Bush’s State of the Union

Sen Clinton told close to 2,000 people at Trinity College in Hartford, CT that the President’s State of the Union address marks “a red letter night in American history: it is the last time George Bush will give a State of the Union.”

“If we all do our part, next year it will be a Democratic president giving the State of the Union,” she said to cheers from the crowd. “Let’s be clear: one thing that President Bush has never understood is that the State of the Union is not about a speech in Washington. It is about the state of the lives of the American people.”

Senator Clinton will be in attendance at tonight’s event on Capitol Hill, along with rival Barack Obama. But she made it clear she didn’t expect to hear anything new — and issued an unlikely invitation to President Bush. “I’m sure that the President tonight will, as he has for the previous seven years, say that the state of our union is strong. But with all due respect, Mr President, come out on the road with me,” she said. “Come and meet the people that I meet. Listen to the stories I listen to. Sit at tables in diners, and hear what’s on America’s minds.”

Finally, Clinton said both she and the country are ready to move on from the last president to the next one. “Yes, a State of the Union speech will be delivered tonight,” she said. “But when that is finally over, it will be time for us to turn our attention to picking the next president.”

It’s nice to see Bush so weak and trying to put some spin on 8 years of failure. Schadenfruend is okay, but I’m really looking forward to a new president!

Hilary is right - the main joy of The State of the Union address is that it will be Bush’s last
Goerge Bush may go down in history as one of the WORST presidents to ever grace the oval office.

As was said about another great republican and I paraphrase: “In Bush we trusted, now we are busted”

Hillary is such a wind bag.

Oh how right she is!!! It’s gonna going to be a red letter day. Today is the begining of the end for This president. It will become more difficult for things to be done in washnigton as it gets closer to the election so, Bye Bye Bushie…

Comment by joseph

the sad part is that Bush is going to say that the economy is “vibrant , dynamic and resilient ” while people are loosing houses and jobs and then is going to say that Iraq is a big success while there is no government and american soldiers dying every day, he is a shameless prson

Comment by Canadian Prime Minister

US is a joke…all they do is whine and cry! Give me a break…Canada should break with NAFTA cuz US is hurting our economy. Next thing we need is a redneck in his/her ranch making choices like you all voted for Bush…

Obama best chance to win against a rep!!! If Hillary wins, lot of people will not vote of her on the dem side of thing.

Seems to me American’s have forgot what being moral is all about!!!
Seems to me everyone has forgotten the fun Billary was having while in office!!

Is that what all you Billary fans want?

Comment by Drew

As if Hillary is anymore in touch with the average American then the Bush Family. Please, spare me the sillyness. America needs to collectively take a breath and realize things are not nearly as bad as we want to think they are. Look at the inflation and unemployment numbers, not awesome but not bad considering energy costs right now. I don’t see how massive new social programs and domestic spending are going to fix all our problems. Sooner or later everyone is going to have to realize Iraq is not going away anytime soon…if you think the US is going to disengage from the Middle East you are fooling yourself.

For him, his economic picture is rosy, war profiteering, and the like. I think it is important to mention, that he never had what is good for this country in mind, EVER. I don’t think I have ever seen a president before this joker flip off the camera, have you? Did anyone EVER believe that this guy had anything else on his mind that robbing America blind? Think I am kidding? watch this (http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/2005/07/bush_flips_out_1.html) to see what MR. Bush really thinks about you. One thing is certain, we need to organize the religious right so we can prevent another dictator from taking office under the veil of restoring religious values…does he seem wholesome to you?

If Uncle Teddeus and Carolina endorse the todler than it’s only because the Clintons did a better job than the Kennedies ever did…. We don’t need “nice” boys… we don’t need reborn Jesus freaks either… we need PROFESSIONALS…. no matter the color…. Donah////

Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:

-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

The Kool-Aid drinkers are euphoric as is their want. There is no accounting for poor taste! Even if Ms. Clinton should garner the Democratic nomination she will not win the general election. Fortuitously, the sane people of this country know exactly what she is- a charlatan and a fraud.

Much like Obama, this blog is rife with hot air rhetoric with no basis in reality.

Clinton can and will win the Presidency with over half of our country opening their arms to the candidate for real change — not the candidate who just speaks about change while hugging and shaking hands with party insiders like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy.

Let us imagine that Hillard had been President when 9/11 took place. Taliban would still controll Afganistan. Bin Laden would be able to carry out and plan more deadly attacks. Thousand of dead Americans each year since 9/11. Sudam would have brought back in his WMD that were moved into Syria and started up his ambitions to dominate the middle east. Possibly sold WMD to terrorists to kill even more Americans.
As it is today they terrorists plots have been prevented due to PRESIDENT BUSH’S plan to keep America safe. At least you liberals lived in relative peace for the last 6 1/2 years and not had to worry about when you were going to be highjacked or killed in some other horrible way.
The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. Are you BRAVE?

I just think it’s funny how a president that has been elected 2 terms is being called the worst president ever. Obviously the majority of Ameicans liked the man well enough to re-elect him for a second time. I’m not saying Bush was a great president, but I will say tht he has done a pretty good job in tese tough times.

Comment by The Dictators

With ALL DUE RESPECT, Mrs Clinton…., everyone will agree that out country has been going “down hill” and in the “wrong direction” for many years now.

For the last 19 (20 after this one) we have had nothing but BUSHs and CLINTON(s) in the White House and things have progressively gotten worse!

Jobs, health care, Social Security, Housing, Pensions, Unemployment, Employee Benefits, Medicare, Cost of Living, Food Prices, Gasoline, Energy Costs have all headed in the Wrong Direction, and Congress is more worried about taking vacation days and doing nothing to get reelected.

After 20 years we need a CHANGE and I’m afraid to say it is NOT another Bush or Clinton.

If you win, then Laura Bush will want “her turn” after you…., and then after her….., it will probably be time for Chelsea…., followed 8 years later by the 2 Bush daughters.

What is the difference between the above and a Dictator.

ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!!

to Aisha. If you knew how the Illinois legislature worked you might understand what the Present vote meant. It doesn’t work like the US Congress.

Right on Mike and Scott. Too bad Clinton didn’t take him out when he had the chance. Guess he was too busy trying to cover his butt with Monica.

Comment by kay

Right wake up….The dems are trying to load it up with pork again. Anything so Bush can’t sign it so they can say he didn’t do anything. No wonder the congress has a lower approval rating then Bush.

Comment by kay

p.s. These low interest rates and unemployment are really hard to take huh? I remember when Carter was in. Maybe you all were kids then. But Interest rates were 15%, high taxes, business downsizing and leaving the country or closing up.
The last I read about the rebate was they would give it to SS recips who pay taxes but not as much. I believe its just another way of buying votes anyway. Don’t see where its going to help our economy very much any way. Every thing we buy except for food, seems to be made out of the country. Guess it will help China and every place else if you read the labels. Buy your gas and send the money to the OPEC countries.

Comment by James Marshall

“those who would sacrifice civil liberties for temporary security deserve neither” ben franklin to “Mike” Also to mike: And by the way, what exactly is Bush’s “plan” when it comes to security? he never really says anything concrete like most politicians. also, not that i like hillary too much myself or anything, but she actually supported the war in afghanistan along with (unrelated) the war in iraq. and there actually have been thousands of americans dead in recent years in a nice little place called Iraq where american soldiers give their lives for oil. as we know from the first persian gulf war, saddam’s “ambitions to dominate the middle east” are meaningless. Iraq lost that war with 100,000 casualties, while coalition deaths were about 150. Also, the US presence in the Middle east is the REASON that 1. terrorist attacks occur 2. iraq is sectarian and divided. Terrorists use our aid to israel and occupation of iraq as excuses to strenghten anti US sentiments. Terrorist attacks do not happen because terrorists hate you and me in particular, they are just for show, and political purposes on the part of the masterminds. The masterminds, like osama bin laden, are very intelligent and sheming. they do not care about religion, though they use it to their advantage (because it is the opiate of the masses), and what they care about is power, like most people unfortunately. And if bush wanted to do anything about osama he could try harder to cooperate with the pakistani government to catch osama. but, he, bush, prefers for the american people to live in a state of fear because it makes us easier to control. In fact, the systems that warn us of the threats of terrorist attacks are in fact terror causing organizations because they scare poor unsuspecting people with their perrenially high levels. AND by the way, if i was in the middle east, i would want western imperialists to get the hell out of my lands. because, for the past century or so, all western powers have done in the middle east is exploit the people and lands for oil. OH well i cant convince you but i just thought id go on a little rant. why cant democrats unite against the real enemies: republicans? and by the way, mike, you have the grammar and diction of a 6 year old

Hillary please donate your salary to your poorly under represented voters living in Jamaica, Queens in New York City for they are losing their homes the past three+ years and as their Senator your plan doesn’t help them. As a Washington insider hitting the media hard on your vast experience–please do something positive to save these peoples homes. As a wealthy Senator why not donate from your husbands speaking fees? Or your total salary as a Senator or both?

Comment by Mike O.

McCain will take Florida and most of the Super Tuesday States and he will win the Republican nomination. Romney can’t buy the whole election. He had trouble running Massachusetts. He dubbed it a “Massachusetts Miracle.” The people of Massachusetts felt it was a miracle that we survived at all with him and BIG DIG Fiasco, and fudging the numbers. All while he was busy campaigning for the Republican nomination out of our state much of the 4 years he was a Governor. We are pleased to have Deval Patrick now as our Governor. H. Clinton will not be able to beat John McCain she’s too divisive and turns too many people off. People either love her and look away from her and all her husbands many faults or vilify her into being the Devil herself. In any case, she can not win. That’s why many prominent Democrats are for Obama. They know H. Clinton can not win the General Election, and are perhaps tired of the same old song and dance from her and her husband. Obama is a little older than JFK was when he became President. He is very appealing to people 18 through mid 40’s. H. Clinton is 61. John McCain is 71. There are generational differences at play. I think it will be Obama vs. McCain in the general election and that Obama will win the election and the torch will finally be passed to a new generation instead of going back and forth between the Bush and Clinton families. Let me illustrate this Reagan/Bush 8 yrs., Bush/Quale 4 yrs., Clinton/Gore 8 yrs., Bush/Cheney 8 yrs… do we want Clinton again. The United States is not a monarchy. England had the Tudor and Stuart families fighting for the crown for many years. We have the Bush & Clinton families doing the same thing here. Powerful families controlling the aristocarcy, media, lobbyists, and common people. Thats their goal to stay on the seat of power as long as possible. This is exactly why George Washington declined to be a US King, and insisted on creating Presidents elected by the people only to serve two terms. Wake up America your being manipulated… Vote your conscience and vote for true change. Many of us don’t want Senator H. Clinton, First Lady L. Bush, Governor Jeb Bush, or Chelsea Clinton residing in our Whitehouse as the Chief Executive of the United States Government…

Kay……why don’t you enlighten us? What does the “present” vote mean? What is the point of electing someone who shows up to work, but doesn’t do the job????? There were ALOT of present votes there. Ever heard of C.Y.A. That’s what the “present” vote seems to mean. If he doesn’t state his opinion, no one can use it against him when running for president or other offices. MEH…..

Comment by WPDAILY

Sounds more like it to me Kay!!!

*******Because it takes affirmative votes to pass legislation in the Illinois Senate, a “present” vote is tantamount to a “no” vote. A “present” vote is generally used to provide political cover for legislators who don’t want to be on the record against a bill that they oppose. Of course, Obama isn’t the first or only Illinois state senator to vote “present,” but he is the only one running for President of the United States. **********

NICE TACTIC!!!

Comment by Hollypw

If anyone running for office of the President of the United States can’t even respect the current holder of that office, (I didn’t say like or dislike, I said “respect” ) how can that person except anyone to respect them when they are in office?

I must agree with Hillary Clinton on this one. The only good thing about this State of the Union is that it is Bush’s last. We can finally begin rinsing ourselves clean of the worst president in the history of the United States.

Comment by Ryan

Wow! Is this an actual presidential candidate? Where was this chick when Bill was having relations with his intern. Let us remember Clinton only as the most popular president that did nothing but ride the economic wave brought on by a victory overseas. Show me someone worth voting for.

I must agree with James Marshall on Mike. Mike has had too much of the kool-aid.

Mike: “As it is today they terrorists plots have been prevented due to PRESIDENT BUSH’S plan to keep America safe.”

LOL!
According to the 9/11 commission, the Clinton administation warned the Bush adminstration that a man they once considered a personal friend was now America’s ONLY enemy.
Did Bush keep us safe???? NO!
Instead, he pulled out the old, dusty maps of Iraq and went after his and Cheney’s OLD enemy, the guy who “tried to kill his daddy.”

Because of Bush’s “plan” we are less safe.
And because of Bush’s “plan” we are less free.
For most Americans, Mike, that makes Bush’s “plan” a complete failure.

Comment by Nice Try

Well, Hillary was wrong as usual. Bush made his ’state of the union will be strong if…’ statement conditional on folks like Hillary and Pelosi becoming a little more reasonable.

I can’t wait until we get to see her screeching, shrieking public meltdown when she fully realizes that Obama has it in the bag for the DemNom.
