Hillary: On To Florida

Hillary Cinton isn’t dwelling on the drubbing she took in South Carolina; after a stop at a black church in Memphis this morning, she’ll get a much needed cash-infusion in Florida — where she’s holding three fundraisers, one large low-dollar youth event and two big donor affairs, to stock up for the expensive February 5th campaign.

She also announced this morning that as soon as the polls close in Florida on Tuesday, she’ll hold a rally for supporters in the Sunshine State — where Democrats have been forbidden from campaigning out of respect for the DNC-designated early states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.

Asked why she’d go to a state where the DNC has stripped the delegates as punishment for moving its primary into January, Clinton said “I’m going to try to seat the Florida delegates. I have said the people of Florida deserve to be represented in the process of picking a president for the Democratic party.”

“Florida will once again be a battleground state, and I want the voters in Florida to know that I hear them,” she said. “Hundreds of thousands of Floridians have already voted… they’re taking this seriously. They believe their voices are going to be heard, and should be counted, and I agree with that.”

Clinton has been mentioning the importance of Florida, where she holds a solid lead over Barack Obama, every chance she gets; that’s in part to ingratiate herself to Florida voters, and in part to convince the media that her likely win there on Tuesday should be counted as a victory worth covering — and one that can bring some of the momentum Obama took with his massive South Carolina win back to her going into February 5th.

UPDATE: Check out her arrival in Sunny Sarasota…”It’s a perfect day here in Florida. I’m happy to be here,” she said.

On can not differentiate from the modern day democrat, socialist, or communist. In present day U.S.A and world politics there is no difference between any of them. Perhaps that is why the American Communist Party supports the Democratic nominee in presidential, congressional and senatorial races. Hmmm. Just a coincidence maybe. I don’t think so. Democrat ideology is right out of the book of the communist manifesto. Every time this system is tried throughout the world it fails or the government becomes so powerful it suppresses its citizens like cattle. The Soviet Union is the greatest example of the fall of it and being the birthplace of such ideology it shows its destructive and oppressive nature. On of the reasons the Soviet Union collapsed was because it fundamentally was wrong, it relied on control and the restriction of personal freedom and advancement. That is why the Soviet Union fell and that is why the United States thrived. However the United States that was once the home of freedom and the ideology of the founding fathers is slowly but surly evaporating.

Why is their no difference between a Democrat a socialist and a communist?

Well you decide :

Democrat Ideology

Large bureaucratic government

High and over taxation

Wealth distribution – take from the rich and middle class and give to the poor

Higher dependence on the government through social programs

Restriction of personal freedoms – abolishment of 2nd amendment, etc;

Elimination over time of the U.S. constitution

Control

Appeasement

Restriction of free enterprise

Elimination of faith, god or a higher power in any pubic and private setting

Political correctness – founded within the Soviet Union

Destruction of white men

Pessimism – no hope for the future

Suppression

Elimination of opportunity for the betterment of one self and family

Open boarders - illegal immigrants given access to the same rights as U.S. citizens

Universal Identity – Everyone needs to think the same way, do the same things, drive the same car

Create a weak America in the eyes of the world

Collectivist / Socialist / Communist Ideology

Large bureaucratic government

Universal welfare and healthcare

Wealth distribution - take from the rich and middle class and give to the poor

Control

Restriction of free enterprise

Elimination of faith, god or a higher power in any public and private setting

Political correctness

Pessimism – no hope for the future

Suppression – of all ideas, freedom, difference

Elimination of opportunity for the betterment of one self and family

Elimination of freedom

See any difference between the two.

I didn’t think so.

It is impossible to distinguish the two ideology’s because they are one in the same and it’s especially hard to argue against when the truth is down in black and white, liberals can’t stand the truth. Current Democrat policy is founded in Collectivist, Socialist ideology. The party of Harry Truman is therefore dead and the Democrat party is no more. The United States is under attack within our own borders from the very thing we tried to destroy; Collectivist, Socialist, Communist ideology. This ideology thrives in the Democrat party, the media, and private and public schools, universities and colleges.

I always like to make the analogy of Democrats and their partners, Socialist and Communists and all those associated, such as left wing university professors who bow at the feat of Bill Clinton and his cronies as the Borg on Star Trek. Yeah, yeah I was a trekky back in the day. However, I think the similarity is uncanny. If you’ re not familiar with Star Trek and the Borg I’ll give you a short and simple synopsis. The Borg go around throughout the galaxy assimilating beings they come into contact with into their collective and they then become part of a whole, unable to make individual choices and are therefore bond by the collective. The Borg inject their victims and merge any human or being with machine. After they are assimilated they are no longer individuals but part of a collective. It is this ideology that is utilized by Socialist, Communist ideology; a system of collectivism and the destruction of individualism, freedom, and control of course without all the injections and merging with machines… for now. So the theory here is watch out for the Borg (Democrat Party).

when will the Florida votes for the Democratic nomination count.

Common Sense, in so many words you said so little.

As for Clinton in Florida? Good. Every vote should count, regardless of petty rules. If Obama can campaign in Florida through advertising, Clinton should be able to campaign as well.

If Obama had his way, though, Florida wouldn’t matter because they broke a party’s silly rule for establishment of the same politics as usual. This is the man for change who advocates rules which completely ignore states that do not follow the DNC’s concept of who should vote and when.

So I applaud Clinton for actually caring enough about Florida to demand the state have a voice in the election of the Democratic nominee. It is something that the two “change candidates” refused to do, and continue to refuse to do while pandering to the establishment and status quo they supposedly fight against.

Obama and Edwards — for the change from allowing everyone a voice to allowing only those we want to have a voice.

Did you forget your tin foil hat this morning? Communist plot? You watch to much Faux Noise.

Comment by bdshepherd

Jack - It’s great that Hillary cares so much for Florida voters. It’s not like she agreed with the DNC decision until her campaign started struggling and polls showed she was leading there or anything like that. That’s the kind of change we really need.

Comment by Common Sense

Liberals are so closed minded. Not to mention brainwashed.

Comment by emilia gonzales

Barrak Hussein Obsama does not want to count the Florida votes. Barrak is for change, the change not to count Florida votes. Hillary is OK for willing to count Florida votes. Edwards is a loser and a phoney with a toopee.

Comment by quinka

Hillary can be described in one word: Repulsive! A president that cries imitation tears when the chips are down, what a phony tactic to get ahead! Get a life Hillary. Cancel your run.

Comment by Jack

bdshepherd, so? Who cares what her motivations are, as any politician is motivated by their greed and drive to win. The point is that Obama and Edwards have abandoned one of the most diverse, rich states in our union because the establishment told them to.

These are the two men who are supposed to be about changing this. They’re supposed to care about every vote, not throw them away whenever some head of a group says so. If they would throw away Florida and Michigan when Howard Dean said so, what would they do when they’re President? Throw other states away?

Clinton is at least, even if selfishly, giving Floridians a voice in the election of the nominee. That should be celebrated and welcomed, but you think that Florida shouldn’t count because they broke Howard Dean’s precious rule. Florida should count, Clinton should be praised, and Obama and Edwards should feel absolutely ashamed for disenfranchising all of Florida.

Comment by Russell Fox

I think fla should have been open for all democrats to participate in it figures got to please some of those high power democrats who put themselves before the voters…That why you have such a hard time winning elections..Party first voters second tied with money loaded lobysist….what a out house you are.

Comment by tosher

I don’t get the relevance of the Florida vote. They all agreed and the DNC has commented that there will be no delegates, so she can campaign as in Michigan, and get a hollow victory, but unfortunately I don’t see any change in the rules, that’s really obvious. She’s just trying to create some controversy like it was the Obama campaign’s decision or something, when in reality it was a DNC decision that the other campaigns are abiding by, much like in Michigan. She’s trying to make it something personal so that the media can say she won and she’ll get a little attention and act like she’s standing up for Floridians, but they all agreed with the DNC decision, so it’s really a non-issue, and no, those votes unfortunately will not count as there are no delegates being given out in Florida during the primary, that’s already been determined and is the only reason the other 2 campaigns are not fighting it out there… Everybody tries to take these moments to cast a negative light on the other campaigns like the Obama campaign and it’s just politics and gamesmanship, nothing based in reality.

Comment by jdr

Michigan, which Hillary took a written pledge not to participate in, but broke -is about as significant as Florida. NO DELEGATES, NO RELEVANCE.

To Common Sense :

a) Are you an intellectual or
b) Are you just trying to repeat wild inaccurate political statements that works in the American political system

Have you actually followed the “Republican reign ” or as a previous speaker noted, are you just wathing “Fox news” ?

Summary:

Try and read/listen to other cable/radio/papers too because on these channels they say :

a) The Republicans are spending like “Drunken Sailors”
b) The Economic stimulus package, is a political move… as in “We stuffed up the economy now here is some dollars to go and buy your wife a dinner”
c) The Middle East ? You think the Middle East is better or worst off, after the Bush doctrine.
Watch the BBC because they would tell you what really is happening in Gaza/Saudi Arabia etc but they are still calling for sanction on IRAN…
d) I would not like to go and make a “State of the Nation Speech” on Monday night because I would start crying, while making the speech.

Note: And you think, the big danger is the Democratic party ? Only on Fox news can they spin this BS.

Clinton in Florida… Didn’t she pledge to adhere to the DNC rules? Oh right!! She’s a Clinton. They’ve “triangulated” and decided that they will change their minds. After all, what’s a pledge, when there is an election to be won by any and all dirty means available. After all, they are entitled to the Presidency, right? I guess we will see Chelsea for President in 2020. Disgusting people!

Comment by ThunderChicken

Jack,

You’re kidding us, right? You can’t be so stupid as to think Billary actually cares about the PEOPLE of Florida (or any other state). All she cares about is power - getting to the top no matter what it takes. Do you honestly believe she would care to count the Florida votes if she wasn’t going to win? Get real. Why didn’t she fight for the votes (delegates) from the beginning then? She only began to fight when it became apparent she would win the state (and need the delegates badly). Anybody but Billary.

Comment by jose

Obama is using the race-card. Barrak wants blacks to vote for him because he is black. We hispanics are not the same as blacks, we vote for the best candidate. We hispanics are immigrants like the european folks. Osama is lying because he is not black, he is bi-racial or mulato.

Comment by jdr

Jose, your opinion is stupid and you should not be allowed to vote.

Comment by red

All Americans who really want separation of church and state need to vote for Hillary Clinton.
You don’t see her raising her arms to a fictional fellow in the sky, do ya? This lady does not need such dramatic tactics and neither should a President we vote for. I for one am tired of Presidential candidates who think they should be our President just because of their religious experiences or the color of their skin or their gender. I like Hillary’s moxey with the peoples of the United States and the fact that her first concern is our well being. Pursuit of happiness needs to return to our White House and from what I have been observing, Hillary is capable of doing just that.

Comment by Jack

ThunderChicken, again I say so? Any candidate is selfish and only cares about their win, but Clinton is the only one defying Howard Dean’s iron grip and allowing Floridians to have a voice. That should be praised as she’s letting Florida speak, unlike Obama and Edwards — who would rather silence them because the status quo of the DNC said so.

Obama and Edwards ARE the status quo, as they enforce it without question. Clinton may be selfish, but at least she allows the voters in every state to choose a candidate regardless of what Howard Dean decrees.

So maybe you need to get real and stop celebrating and advocating a man who would silence an entire state at the demands of the institution.

Go Hillary! You’re right and thanks for listening to us Florida voters who have sent you countless letters to petition the DNC to make our voices heard! You must win N. H. and Florida for the Democratic Nomination! Like Michigan, Barrack Hussein Obama has very little support in Florida. Sen. Obama knows that and that’s why he’s going to downplay the electoral rich value of a Projected Hillary Clinton win in Florida on tuesday. The next President of the United States MUST win Florida!

Comment by brooks of sheffield

I enjoyed the way someone tried to take yet another underhanded Clinton campaign tactic and make it sound like a noble virtue. As I’m sure you know, the delegate rules were set by the DNC, not the candidates. They were agreed to by the candidates. Only one of those candidates now wishes to revise the rules in mid-stream. I’m sure Hillary would be advocating the seating of those delegates if they were to benefit another candidate, because for her, public service is not about self-promotion, it’s about Justice!

When folks reward the Clintons for their ethical breeches, it simply encourage them to continue their down their profitable trail of destructive politics as usual. Thanks, but I had enough Bill Clinton. And if Hillary can’t get elected without cheating, I don’t need to see any more of her.

Comment by Jack

troy, why are you afraid of allowing Florida and Michigan to pick their candidate? Is it not dishonest to promise every man a vote then rip them away because they don’t like your schedule?

There’s nothing more dishonest in this country than taking American votes because they refuse to allow you to choose which state is most important.

Comment by Jack

brooks, why do you not want Americans to have a voice in their electorate? This is America, not Pakistan. Every man votes, every vote counts, and we do not throw them away because Howard Dean thinks Iowa is more important than New Hampshire when it comes to voting days.

Comment by Pat

Please, the Clintons will do anything to win. Fair is fair, Florida broke the rules and to try and turn that around just to gain delegates to win a nomination is disgusting. When is the American public going to wake and see what total conniving, selfish losers the Clintons truly are. Hillary will never win the presidency, and God help us if she does, because it means 4 to 8 more years of Bill running the country again and I am sick of the Bushs’ and sick of the Clintons’. I wish they would all crawl back into the hole from which they came and leave all of us hardworking Americans alone with their stupidity and lies.

It’s pathetic that Hillary can’t even fight her own fights; that Bill has to lower himself (not that that has ever been a issue for Bill he seems to have made a sport of it - even as President), and continually play attack dog. To use race as a means of attacking Obama is sad - not that I am a big Obama fan either. But I say play fair and the MSM needs to cover all of the candidates fairly and stop acting like there are only two candidates running for President, last count there are seven others running for those in the MSM who can’t count that’s 9 total.

Just go away Billary!!!

Please?

Here is the take-away from the Clinton campaign: Clinton is best qualified because of her 8 years in the White House. Hey, I don’t want my surgeon’s wife operating on me just because she was his Office Manager for 8 years. Get real, we’re an informed electorate!

Comment by Jay

Dave, I’ll take 8 years of a president’s wife than take Obama’s supposed years of foreign experience…when he was 3.

Comment by bdshepherd

Any candidate is selfish and only cares about their win

If you replace ‘candidate’ with ‘Clinton,’ then I’d agree with you. There’s this little thing called ‘integrity’ that some of the other candidates have.
As for the seating of the delegates, it’s pretty much a given that whoever the nominee is, they will seat the delegates. Hillary isn’t doing anything special for Michigan or Florida, she is just exploiting the situation by bringing this up now in an attempt to have a ‘win’ in Florida in a primary that she previously agreed did not mean anything.
The DNC is your definition of the status quo? Interesting.

I have to commend your blogger Common Sense. Everything he/she wrote made perfect sense. It’s almost like people want the Government to be Mommy and Daddy, so they don’t have to worry about anything. No such thing should ever happen. We don’t need a Mommy or Daddy Government. Big brother is bad enough. Think independently you people. Don’t vote away any of our precious freedoms especially our freedom of CHOICE. Good bad or indifferent, President Bush has kept us safe. We only had one terrorist attack succeed. How many succeeded under the Clinton administration? THINK ABOUT THAT. The USS Cole. The barracks bombing, The first twin tower bombing which that administration didn’t even go to comfort N.Y. in person. Remember the past, trying to stay on th sideline of history doesn’t work, remember Pearl Harbor.
Remember the courage of Ronald Reagan telling Gorbekov (spelling, sorry) to tear down that wall.
We can’t be on the sidelines and remain free. WAKE UP AND UNDERSTAND THAT. Many positions we must take may not be popular but we don’t always know alot of the reasons behind decisions made, some good and some bad. Remember it was a Russian leader who said he would destroy us from within our own country. COMMUNISM IS SOCIALISM. WAKE UP. WE WILL LOSS ALL OUR FREEDOMS IF WE DON’T MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS. I believe history will be good to G.W. Bush, he has done a good job of keeping us safe.

Flordia is one of the largest single vvoting blocks in the country. Given Florida it was a major battle ground state in the past two Presidental Elections and in at least one definitely cost the Democrats the White House it is unwise for any of the current field to toally discount Florida — If recent history is to be heeded the Democrats are liable to regret their decision not to seat the delegation.
Why must Senator Clinton’s current posture be seen as ‘pandering’ when there are multiple reasons it might be considered wise and even fortuitous for the Democrats not to appear as they are disregarding or writing these people off.

Unfortunately, SC has proven this is a race about race….In the past the Clintons were highly favorable by SC..now that a back man is in the race…he is highly favorable. If color (and probably gender) was taken out of the equation, Clinton would of wonn. In my opinion this reminds me of the OJ simpson trial…Not to offend anyone but.. this is how I see it and others I have talked to…the black community is willing to support a black person regardless if they committed a murder, or pick a president that is not qualified to run our country…. racism is not only amoung the white.. but as we can see among the black…very prevalent..
I am hoping that all people can see how important this campaign is, and we need someone on day one that is capable of making things happen immediately. Obama needs more time in politics to really make a difference, this is not the time to do on the job training.

Comment by Jay

bdshepherd, any candidate. The Clintons do not have the market on selfishness, and anyone who thinks they do is completely paranoid. Put away your psychotic delusions that Clinton is Satan, and come back to reality where they are just a family.

Clinton is doing something special for Florida — she’s demanding they be heard. Obama would rather skip Florida because Howard Dean said so. She’s also never said it meant nothing, and I challenge you to find the quote.

The DNC is the status quo of the Democratic Party. Obama and Edwards follow their decree blindly, even when it disenfranchises entire states from the process. You, apparently, are absolutely fine with that.

The fact that ANYONE is fine with ignoring a state’s choice for our national government is beyond interesting into disturbing.

Comment by Jay

Dave, so it is OK to discard Clinton’s work as a first lady when she is a grownup. But if you say that Obama’s “experience” as a adolescent child doesn’t count, you’re playing dirty politics?

I guess my preschool experience qualifies me to become president more than my adult education! Who knew?

I thought DNC took away the votes in MI and FL. Now that the other canadates took their name off of MI vote and H got all of them and she is going to go to FL now. She wants those votes for her sence everone else played by the rules set by the DNC. Sounds pretty low life to me I think I will vote for O.

Hillary is desperate after yesterday’s drubbing in SC, so she wants to leverage a close state like Florida that may only get to seat its delegates if the nomination goes into a second round of voting at the Convention.

Common Sense, makes no sense at all. It,s funny how at least half of the items on the list used to describe Democrats, are the same items left-wing Democrats would use to describe right-wing Republicans: fascists, want everyone to think the same, liars, etc.

And this is why we need Obama as President. We need someone who looks for the things we have in common and who will fight for a vision of American that rises above fear-based politics and returns our country to one that realizes its greatness based on E Pluribus Union — “Out of Many, One.”

Hillary Clinton’s experience is mired in controversy, ranging from:

1) turning $1000 into $100000 in cattle futures while working for the Rose law firm. She received tips from James B. Blair who was outside counsel for Tyson Foods in Arkansas. In one day she made over $10,000 on day trading which would point to insider knowledge from within Tyson Foods.

Washington Post

2) to Whitewater, a 1980s land deal that went bad and revealed that 1) Bill Clinton exerted pressure on an Arkansas businessman, David Hale, to make an illegal loan that would benefit him and the owners of Madison Guaranty; and 2) that an Arkansas bank had concealed transactions involving Clinton’s gubernatorial campaign in 1990.

3) to Travelgate, the 1993 firing of seven longtime employees of the travel office, which handles travel arrangements for reporters and television crews covering the president. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is alleged to have pressured White House lawyers into dismissing the travel office staff and bringing in the FBI to investigate them, so that friends of the First Family could enjoy the office’s patronage spoils.

Columbia Journalism Review/New York Observer

4) In the aftermath of the apparent suicide (yes, it gets ugly!) of her former partner and closest confidant, White House Deputy Counsel Vincent Foster, Hillary Clinton ordered the overturn of an agreement to allow the Justice Department to examine the files in the dead man’s office. Her closest friends and aides, under oath, have been blatantly disremembering this likely obstruction of justice, and may have to pay for supporting Hillary’s lie with jail terms.

New York Times

5) In August 2000, during her first Senate run, Clinton met with the Hasidic community in New Square, where many members were working to obtain clemency for four members of their community who had been convicted of stealing tens of millions of dollars from the state and federal government.
She refused to talk about the controversial pardons of the four New York Hasidic Jews by her husband. New Square voted 1359-10 for the first lady – although other nearby Hasidic enclaves voted 3480-152 for Clinton’s GOP opponent, former Rep. Rick Lazio.

New York Times

6) Hillary Clinton’s brother Hugh Rodham , was paid approximately $200,000 from Almon Glenn Braswell, whom President Clinton pardoned for mail fraud and perjury, as was Carlos Vignali, whose sentence for cocaine trafficking was commuted. News of his involvement in the pardon controversy prompted an outrage in Washington, D.C.

“I knew nothing about my brother’s involvement in these pardons,” Sen. Clinton said at the time. “I knew nothing about his taking money for his involvement.”

The Clintons asked Hugh Rodham to return the cash, which he did.

Time Magazine

7) Hillary Clinton’s brother Tony Rodham was paid $244,769 over 2½ years by a carnival company, United Shows of America, owned by Edgar and Vonna Jo Gregory. The Gregorys had been convicted of bank fraud and were seeking pardons. Tony Rodham has said he mentioned their pardon application to his brother-in-law, who ultimately granted the Gregorys a pardon. But Rodham said he was not paid for anything having to do with the pardon.

Boston Globe

8) Peter Paul has business relationship with Clintons that goes bad. Clintons steal one of his clients and he retaliates turning Clinton in for violating campaign regulations during a fundraiser he held for her to the tune of $1 million. The FEC formally determined that Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign treasurer, Andrew Grossman is legally responsible for the three false FEC reports that Hillary’s finance director, David Rosen, was criminally charged and tried for in mid-2005. Mr. Grossman signed a “Conciliation Agreement” with the FEC on December 13, 2005, admitting his culpability, and agreeing to pay a civil fine and amend his false reports to reflect the $721,000 that he failed to report since October, 2000.

Wall Street Journal

9) Pastor Got $1.5 Million in Clinton Earmarks Before Endorsement

Widely reported

10) Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton gives large earmarks of $1 billion in government-backed financing for a development project called Destiny. Robert Congel, the owner of Destiny, then turned around and financed and campaigned for her.

Robert J. Congel, his family and associates affiliated with his development have donated $40,000 to Clinton’s state and national campaigns since she first ran for office in 1999.

Congel co-hosted a Syracuse fundraiser for her, an event said to have raised an additional $50,000. Lobbying firms hired by Congel in connection with Destiny and other ventures also donated more than $200,000 to various Clinton campaign funds, records show.

LA Times

11) New School in New York City, which received $1.6 million in earmarks in this year’s defense budget and $6 million previously, is particularly well-connected. Its president, former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.), campaigned for Clinton in Iowa. Three school trustees are among Clinton’s most prominent backers, having each raised at least $100,000 for her campaign. A former trustee is Norman Hsu, who was indicted on fraud charges. After Hsu’s criminal past was revealed last summer, Clinton returned $850,000 he raised for her.

LA Times

12) to falsely attacking Obama as a pro-life candidate for voting “present” in New Hampshire.

13) Her husband Bill Clinton says he consulted her on every major decision. Does that include Rwanda, and his decision to stand by and watch genocide kill hundreds of thousands of people? She is firmly entrenched with Bill and the establishment, at best a dirty politician who knows everything there is to know about our political system. A vote for her is a vote for the status quo. The Republicans are so sure she is the next Democratic nominee that there’s even a movie set to release.

Thank you Jay, you said it better than I could. It’s disgusting that someone would be OK with ignoring any state because Howard Dean said to. This is America, and I’m glad that Clinton is at least trying to make sure every state counts. She may be doing it to win more delegates, but Florida should count.

I also agree with gerry. Clinton does this and it’s a terrible, vile move. If Edwards or Obama did this? It would have been the move of the century, a show of ignoring the status quo of the DNC and changing politics for the better.

Hillary Clinton just isn’t allowed to do anything positive.

Jay - You really are a Clintonite. Distort, distort, distort. My words are simple enough to be understood by all. Your “triangulations” are superfluous. In the true spirit of the Obama campaign, I will no longer respond to your dstractions and instead focus on the facts.

Anybody that raises their arms to the sky and does the “jesus” thingy needs to have THAT behavior questioned. But no…. nit picking comments about a former President (who kept peace and balanced our budget) is the cowardly thing to do. That should speak for itself. And, Hillary will also do a great job as President because she states the FACTS even if some folks don’t like it.
Obviously Obama doesn’t present himself as a person commited to his faith since he has to fire accusations or excuses and do his dramatic “jesus” presentation to gain popularity among those who consider themselves righteous with their superstitious belief in fables. You know what I mean about judging, don’t ya? (I can judge, though, cause I don’t believe in fairy tales. haha)
So, because of Obama’s behavior, anyone with good old common sense will realize that Mr. O. would not be able to commit to being a good President. I am so grateful that we have a candidate like Hillary Clinton who is not riding towards the Presidency on a cloak of superstitious religious beliefs. I liked the honesty of Goldwater. And, I would vote for any candidate that stated, “Separation of church and state is what I believe!!!!!” Yep, that would be the candidate for me as long as it were the truth and not a dramatic event. What? No Santa Claus?????

Comment by Jack

Eric, I think you mean “Out of Whoever Obama Believes Matters — Your Vote Counts. Otherwise — nope.” Obama’s absolutely fine with ignoring Florida and Michigan. That says something when you’d rather ignore states because Howard Dead said so than allow voters to have a voice.

I suggest if you want to know the 35 years experience Clinton has ,look at her website
hillaryclinton.com… only then can you try to make an intelligent comment. People spout out of the mouth without knowing the facts. I suggest looking at Obama’s website also, he tells you about his experience….there is no comparison!!! Be informed before you vote.. don’t let the media bias you. For me personally, after I looked at all the candidates websites about who they are, what they have done, and what they support, I made my descision to vote for Hillary. I truly believe she can put us back on track…her record shows this… Is she perfect.. No…are there things I don’t see eye to eye ..yes… but overall see knows how things work to be able to get things done… and I believe see supports all income levels in our society.. Again people be informed…look at the facts…and don’t be fooled by our Media bias

This a remarkably cheeky move by the Clinton campaign to try and reaward Florida it’s delegates. In a desperate move to smother Obama’s momentum, the Clinton clan is up to it’s sneaky best getting as many possible votes as possible, and at the same time totally disregarding the party’s decision to discipline Florida’s attempt to move it’s primary into January. One has to ask oneself why Hillary didn’t complain about it a month ago when she had a healthy lead over Obama. So much for integrity and accountabiltity. She doesn’t seem to have neither, or have I missed something?

Jack, I’m fine with counting Florida’s delegates…Obama will fare just fine there, even if Hillary ekes out another win. The big question is whether or not Obama can win over the Hispanic vote. If he can’t, Hillary will probably win regardless of Michigan and Florida.

Every single american citizen has a right to participate in the voting process. To deny anyone that right is idiotic and mind boggling. Clinton has the guts and tenacity to go against the “democratic establishment” to challenge the status quo: go with the flow or else!!! where is Obama’s cry for cahnge leading him to? begging and whinning and threatening (THANKS TO HIS BULLDOG WIFE’S COMMENT: THE BLACKS WILL WAKE UP AND GET IT”..THEY SURE DID IN SC!!!)

Comment by Jay

Ted Kennedy, the established man who is the elder Democrat and seen as the Democratic establishment, is supporting Barack Obama? No one needs to spin that. The establishment, which Obama derides and says he’s not part of, is standing side-by-side with him. The Washington Insiders are on stage with him while he pretends to pulls the sheet down and say “Not there, not there, not there”.

Obama is Washington, and Ted Kennedy is just the latest insider to prove that Obama is for much more of the same.

Facts? You haven’t spoken a single fact. All you’ve done is say Florida shouldn’t matter, Obama is embraced by the insiders, and we should ignore that and pretend he’s for change. Yeah, I should vote for him.

Comment by Jack

Michael, it’s better late than never. Obama and Edwards are the establishment candidates that would rather say never. At least Clinton is willing to say it at all.

This is to respond to Jose, the European Latino. I am a Haitian American who studied and lived for many years in Miami. The sentiments expressed by Jose are the reasons why I, a dark skinned American, felt more and more uncomfortable in Miami. This Spanish speaking segment of the Florida population has a very strong disdain for all blacks. They are programmed, already as young children, that being “light-skinned ” gives them a special status and make them superior, especially when it comes to blacks. I will always remember my years in Miami with fondness. I never bore the brunt of racism from the Anglo-Saxon community but was confronted on a weekly basis with it when dealing with Floridians of Cuban or South American origins. I am sure that there are tolerant Latinos but I think that in Miami it is the exception.

Al Gore needs to get into this FAST. This gender/race war and the overuse of the word CHANGE is (yawn) boring and neither one will win the republicans if they continue tearing into eachother’s voting record and professional affiliations pre-politico life. Hillary on the board of Walmart? Huge turnoff. Obama voting “present” on sexual abuse issues?! WTF. Even Huck is starting to look better at this point.

socialism - any of various political philosophies that support social and economic equality, collective decision-making, and public control of productive capital and natural resources. Socialism, practiced by Starfleet in the world of Star Trek (see the rant of the original comment), is a derided concept in American politics by ideologues. The reasons are easy to see, historically and fundamentally. In the larger context, a global context, it is clear to all except Texas ranchers and UN-haters and weirdos that global socialism is the destiny of humanity, unless death is the destiny. It is easy to wave the flag of capitalism and see the redwhiteblue etc. but many of the institutional cornerstones of american economics clearly point out the flaws of uncontrolled capitalism (the WTO, anti-trust law) not to mention the overt politcal influence of the energy and war-making industries on american social politics! Socialism is not about fascist governmental control. Many think it is. That is perverted socialism. Read a book. Turn off Fox.

Hilary’s decision to campaign in Florida in spite sanctions, is a typical Clinton
tactic, the Clintons truly believe that laws and rules are for others…not the Clintons. If the banned delegates are reafirmed at a later date to help elect Hilary, our system is more broken than anyone thought!

Unlike my wife, I don’t dislike Sen. Clinton. However I do find her attempt to change the rules in the middle of the game by effectively going against her word and campaigning for Florida votes to be so below the belt that I will do everything I can to support Sen. Obama.

The Republicans are divided enough… we Democrats don’t have to be too. Let’s stay strong, fight fair, and give the country a unified party and a real vision for the future.

Bottom line you interpret this as her game plan…. it’s good.. no state should be left out… just maybe people she believes that (I believe it)….So if it’s a game or manipulation (which the haters think)…it’s the right thing to do

Jay, if you look at their campaign contributors, there is a significant difference between Obama and Clinton. Sure, Obama has some stains left by rising through the ranks of the Chicago-Democratic machine, but that is hardly the same as the multiple stains on both Clinton and her husband as a result of their many years in the Capital. Obama is relying much more on small individual contributors and far less on entrenched Washington interests. Just look no further than today’s comment by Frank Rich in The New York Times, and the Saudi oil interests that are contributing to Bill Clinton’s library…and you will see that a Clinton presidency will not be vastly different than the current Republican regime. At least Obama has a chance of bringing real change. Not any of the other cannots, except Edwards can make the same claim.

I look forward to Feb 5th, and when this whole primary campaign is over. The above comments show such a wide variety of opinions (some very scary), but the only way for our political process to truly succeed is for all of us to play a conscious role in it. We need change in government, we need a different course in global politics, and we need to rebuild our infrastructure. We need to show that we want this by voting, but not just in major elections. Read as much as you can from both sides of the spectrum. Vote for the person that you feel will take us in the direction that you want this country to go. JUST VOTE!!!!! It will count if more of us excercise this right. I respect all the candidates, and I am going to vote for the person that I believe will take us in that direction.

Sandi - WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD IN MIAMI? EVERYONE IS TEASED AS A CHILD FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. CLEARLY YOU’RE PLAYING INTO THE RACE CARD AND VOTING FOR OBAMA AND NOT THE BEST CANDIDATE. OBAMA IS A MULATTO AND PROUD OF IT, YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF YOUR DARK SKIN TOO AND GET OVER IT.

MY COMMENT CONTINUES: CORRECTION: CHANGE NOT CAHNGE!!!.
The reason for the recent (high time)scrutiny of Obama’s true identity and motives is the direct result of his calculated efforts to run on a platform of “HONESTY, CHANGE, INTEGRITY AND HOPE” AND THE PROMISE OF A HEAVEN ON EARTH AND OTHER SUCH IDIOTIC PROPHETIC DRIVEL. The more that the drip, drip, drip continues the more one has to wonder if he has brainwashed the nation and the media (not a very difficult task) to follow along and build their HOPES on quicksand!!! His sermonizing and preaching would be laughable except for the fact that so many are so enamoured by the mind numbing cadence of his speech and the outrageous AUDACITY AND ARROGANCE of his self absorbed and ego maniacal positions. His Nemesis is waiting around the corner….TRUTH.

it’s funny when people change their mind how it’s interpreted as aweful… we all change change our minds when new information comes forth… To change your mind based on new information is responsible…I only wish Bush would have the guts to change his mind…

Comment by vli

Papeehara…AMEN!!! lol… so true it scares me to see people buying into it….For change to happen..you have to know how to do it….a president can not do it alone….so we need to fire everyone in both houses… OK that’s not going to happen…So look at the record and see who has brought about change

This is like Nevada.

The Clinton’s (not them directly but supporters of Hillary’s who were instrumental in writing the Nevada Caucus rules (probably assuming that the Clinton’s would get the Culinary Union’s nomination)) in Nevada decided that the folk should not be able to caucus at the casinos two days after Obama got that endorsement. Those rules had been established for months before it suddenly became unfair to the teacher’s union. If that decision had been followed thousands of folk who were expecting to be able to caucus there would have been disenfranchised. Those would have been mostly hispanics. The judge was right to summarily dismiss that suit.

If Clinton gets the nomination for the Culinary union in Nevada, we wouldn’t even be talking about this cause the suit would never have been filed.

This Florida thing is no different. The Clinton’s acting nobly to defend the right’s of Floridians to choose their democratic nominee is a convenient coincidence, just as an attempt to disband the caucasing at the casino’s would have been a awful mistake.

The things that are in common are obviously that these action would have benefitted the Clintons

All the candidates agreed not to campaign in Michigan and Florida and agreed that the delegates for those states would not be in play due to leapfrogging their primary contests fwd against DNC rules. I doubt this column would have been written if Florida was in Obama’s column.

The Florida primary situation is bad, but if you said you’d play by the rules, you should do that(Florida democratic establishment/the Clintons). The Clinton’s seem to be behaving like instinctual creatures oblivious to how foolish they appear to most everyone.

Barack Obama is a wry and clever guy bating Bill into behaving maniacally by attacking the non-transcendental nature of his presidency. It took him one sentence lumping Clinton in with Nixon as a run of the mill commander and chief and he’s behaved foolishly ever since.

When Hillary was on the Board, Walton was the CEO and the company was descent. Hillary should have just looked Barack in the eyes and questioned, “And…..what’s your point?”
I really can’t stand to listen to or look at “charmers” like B.O. and we all know what B. O. stands for, right?

Comment by Jack

Scott, a party can only have a future if its head has the vision and the ability to make that vision reality. All Obama wants to do, by his own admission, is supervise others who will make, propose, and pass legislation. He does not want to lead us.

In 4 years, when we’re stuck with more Bush-like ignorance, I will at least be able to know I wasn’t stupid enough to vote for a man simply because he gave a good speech.

Let’s remember to really listen to each other. Liberals believe in giving money to people who need it and Conservatives believe in decentralization of government. Well decentralization is fine. I think we’re all for that, except for the Defense Hawks who are mostly Republican?? And we Liberals recognize that the budget is now totally whacked and that health care and the things that should have been done before waging a crusade in the desert are no longer feasible. What is important is that we all listen to each other. The best things to do is f***ing start SAVING. Cause it is gonna get UGLY. No more 100’s of billions on spy planes OR anything. Work on alternative energy and getting our students up to snuff.
