Rudy vs. “The Experts”
Sarasota, FL — As he makes his final 72-hour push in the Sunshine State, Rudy Giuliani is embracing his underdog status and asking voters to ignore the “experts” and the latest polls showing a slide in Florida.
“Don’t listen to any of the cynics. Don’t listen to any of the experts. You’re the experts. The person who goes to the polling place and marks down the ballot, marks down the vote. That’s the expert,” he told about 200 attendees at a meet and greet at the Columbia Restaurant in Sarasota. “I like feeling like I am an underdog. I think underdogs get a lot of sympathy, get a lot of support, get a lot of interest.”
In recent days, his campaign surrogates have also been railing against the media and pundits for their “pessimism.” Prior to Giuliani’s speech at Sarasota’s Lincoln Day Dinner Friday night, FL Attorney General Bill McCollum and former Congressman Bill Paxon both urged the more than 500 attendees at the gathering to ignore the latest polling.
The Giuliani campaign’s war on polls is a recent development, especially after months of religiously citing national and state surveys as evidence of his support. During interviews during the last couple months, Giuliani would often cite his polling leads (which have mostly evaporated) in most Feb 5 states when questioned about ignoring the early primary states.
The same is true for his aides. Back in an October 2 memo that broke down all of Giuliani’s polling advantages, campaign strategist Brent Seaborn led off by noting that “Mayor Giuliani continues to lead all major media polls.” He also touted, “as this race enters the home stretch, Mayor Giuliani continues lead every national poll while no single opponent has emerged to threaten his frontrunner status,” arguing that he expected one other candidate to emerge at Giuliani’s chief rival. As recently as December 31, Seaborn released a memo titled “Looking Good” noting that “Mayor Giuliani has enjoyed a commanding lead in nearly every public poll conducted in the delegate rich states of Florida, California, Illinois, New York and New Jersey.” While Seaborn warned of “tightening,” Giuliani’s now trails in almost all of those states only three weeks later.

If Rudy loses Florida I think most of his support will start flowing to the other candidates. Which of the other candidates will benefit the most? Are Rudy supporters more conservative and would drift to Romney/Huckabee or are they more moderate and drift to Mccain?

Don’t let this liberal version of Bob Dole make it as our nominee. He’ll get torn apart and his fragile health will probably wither.

Jim, I’ve read your posts all over. What is your basis of your deep seeded hate of Romney? I’m a Romney fan but I don’t have any deeply negative feelings towards the other candidates that you obviously do for Romney.
You know that NBC has completley cleared Romney of any funny stuff so why do you keep spewing bold face lies across the internet? It’s okay that you no longer hope for a Romney/Huckabee ticket because Gov. Huckabee has way too much integrity to be a part of such a partnership. Your candidate (Romney) has told so many lies about mine (Huckabee) that, if he (Romney) is the Republican nominee, I can’t vote for him. I’d be lying if I said I’d vote for Hillary - I won’t, but I will write-in Huckabee (or someone else) before I cast a ballot for someone who is so devious and dishonest as Mr. Romney.

Rudy always starts out ahead and as the hero, and the media always takes that away from him because he is too conservative for them. When he first ran for Mayor against Dinkins, he was a hero because he took on and beat the Mafia in NY. The first time Rudy ran against the Democrat Dinkins, the liberal media then demonized Rudy and he lost that race. When he ran against Hillary for Senate, he was a hero because as Mayor he saved NY City. He diminished crime and he saved the economy. However, when he ran against Hillary, the liberal media then demonized him for one incident of police brutality for which the rogue officer was arrested, and for two tragic accidents. Democratic Mayors never get blamed for this stuff, but Rudy dared to run against the Democratic queen. For this election, Rudy started out a hero for his amazing handling of 9/11, and the liberal media attacked him again, first for the fact that he had needed security for his fiancé, and the second attack was because he dares to mention his accomplishments. While the liberal media was attacking him for mentioning 9/11, Hillary was running a commercial about her handling of 9/11, and of course, the liberal media had no problem with that. While Romney saved businesses and the Olympics, Rudy saved NY City, and that was before 9/11. Clearly Rudy has the most accomplishments of anyone running, and he would make the best President.

McCain is not a liberal Republican. He is not a conservative Republican. He simply prostitutes himself to the liberal media and does their bidding. If the Democrats need to make a partisan bill look bipartisan, they go to John McCain and the liberal media offers McCain heroic coverage. For example, McCain pretended to be obsessed with getting money out of politics, and he got great coverage in the liberal media for his Campaign Finance Reform. While the cleanup effort at the Pentagon was turned over to federal agencies like OSHA, which quickly sealed off the site and required relief workers to wear hazmat suits, the WTC cleanup was handed over to Giuliani…

I think this election is important. Conservatives don’t have a key player, in fact we have enemies running on the republican ticket. Our best choice is Giuliani or Romney. Democrats have Karl Marx herself, Hillary Clinton. So it is important to us that McCain and Huckabee do not get the nomination.
As far as this article is concerned… Rudy is going to win, because the pollster are polling independents who cannot vote in the closed Republican Primary. On Tuesday they’ll be scrambling trying to explain themselves just like they did with Hillary’s win in New Hampshire.

Romney came in fifth, behind Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain and Ron Paul. Romney had 7 percent support, a virtual tie with Tancredo. He does only a bit better among those aged 30 to 42.
Romney is also quite unpopular among middle- and lower-middle class voters. In poll after poll, he leads among Republicans making more than $75,000 a year. He does poorly among those who make less.
If Romney is the general election candidate, he will face hostility from independent voters, who value authenticity. He will face hostility from Hispanic voters, who detest his new immigration positions. He will face great hostility in the media. Even conservative editorialists at places like The Union Leader in New Hampshire and The Boston Herald find his flip-flopping offensive.
Key, thank you for ‘unlocking’ the truth. Romney cannot and would not win in November. Rudy, Mike, and John appeal to the majority of ‘average’ Americans - not because they’re not basically conservative, but because they care more about our country than their own political party and its elite puppetmasters.

To the person above who has never been contacted by polsters, and knows of no one who ever has been.
About forty years ago, I was contacted by a polster. It took me so by surprise that I didn’t tell them the most important thing they were asking. I have always wished I could do that poll over. It was a network TV poll, and I was asked what show I had watched the previous evening.
The reality was that I was watching a show that had so many commericials I turned it. When I answered the poll, I forgot I had turned the channel until after the conversation was over. I feel partially responsible for the ridiculous amount of commericials which came to be the norm after that. If I had answered better, would the 100,000 people that I represented been given tv without the constant string of commercials? Would I have been one of them?

There is nothing more depressing than the thought of Hillary Clinton coming to power - after Bill Clinton and George Bush. I am not alone in wishing for a more inspirational, interesting and different type of president. Just thinking about Hillary becoming president tires me out.
I like Barack Obama and consider myself somewhat liberal - however I would prefer McCain, Guiliani, Romney or Huckabee to Clinton.

I worry McCain gives in too much to the left on issues. Huckabee is toting the religious theme too far for national election. Romney is stuck with his Governor (MA) politics and looks like a flip-flopper because of it. In a state that elects Kennedy, he had to apease the voters and have a middle ground stance (which ideas are really his). Giuliani has ran the 7th largest economy in the world, made NYC a place to visit instead of disgust and it tough. I am starting to lean his way. I want a true leader in the White House, not just another politician.

Absolutely amazing the amount of air time this loser Rudy has been granted while Ron Paul remains a ghost despite how lock step his message is with the US Constitution. Also consider how Ron Paul has won twice the number of votes as Rudy in almost every state and still can’t be found in the Rudy-ridden headlines.
America is eating itself to death. Despite knowing the over-sized coffin that awaits it - it presses on. The media, like Fox News, is hammering the last few nails. Corporations are recklessly sending America into the inescapable fathoms of debt and endless war - division amongst Americans, a nightmarish health care system that is the laughing stock of the entire world, and an education system that couldn’t produce a lever pulling chimp.
They are taking your tax dollars and investing it in war to secure themselves market places and resources in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and South America. They don’t care what happens to America because they have investments all over the world. They don’t care if your children can read, or even participate in society because they aren’t thinking about the future, they are thinking about their profits. If America dropped off the face of the world, they would still be rich. If the US military was (is) stretched beyond the ability to protect America in the case of a real threat or attack on America - it wouldn’t be their families and friends that would be slaughtered. They might lose their mansion in Martha’s Vineyard, but they still have a lovely abode in Europe or maybe even Dubai.
So keep playing their game, help them pilfer what truly belong to us (the American people) and enjoy the living hell you are sealing as your fate.
Want to do something about it? Give Ron Paul a chance. He’s the only one making a promise that has half a chance of working. More than you can say about McCain’s 100 year Iraqi campaign, or any of their policies that seem intend on starting World War 3 with Persia and China.
