No Concession Speech for Clinton
Instead of waiting around in South Carolina to deliver the traditional concession speech after her big loss, Sen Clinton’s motorcade sped off to the Columbia airport before the polls closed. She was wheels up to Tennessee shortly after we learned that FOX had called the race for Barack Obama — and after she called to congratulate Obama for his historic victory.
On the plane, spokesman Jay Carson acknowledged the huge win for Obama in nearly every demographic, saying the campaign had seen this thumping coming for awhile. In what they’ve often called a “race for delegates,” Clinton could find herself down 13 in South Carolina — but aides point out that they’re still up by nearly 100 after counting those unpledged “superdelegates,” and that there are no truly big delegate prizes awarded until February 5th.
As for whether aggressive campaigning by Bill Clinton hurt her in South Carolina, Carson said the former president is still the most popular Democrat in the country — and challenged reporters to come up with a single negative, nasty remark President Clinton made about Obama.
At her rally in Nashville, Clinton briefly acknowledged the loss, saying “I want to congratulate Senator Obama and thank South Carolina.” But she quickly moved on to stress the importance of Florida and the February 5th states before launching into her standard stump speech.
UPDATE: Asked by an audience member how the SC results would affect the race, Clinton said “I’m very, very proud to have competed there. It was a close contest going into it. I congratulate Senator Obama. We have each won several of these contests in these early months.
“I’ve always said this contest was gonna go a long time,” she said. “February 5th has always been, for me, the key , we’re going to be doing everything we can here in Tennessee, and all the states that are going to be voting on February 5th. It stretches from Massachusetts to California. I’m excited about competing here and competing everywhere.”

Why stay in a state where racism is clearly the way of life? Move on to states where you can win, don’t stick around and stroke a racists ego.
Clinton is a sore loser, they proved it when they tried to stip the white house clean of antiques when gore lost in 2000.
Ahh Obama harpies, they never let you down. Keep screaming, Brent. Maybe someone will actually care about such silly, frivolous crap instead of paying attention to the economy, war, death, and health care crises that plague America.
Maybe someone will care about rumors from 2000.
Yes we Can! YES WE CAN show that black people will vote for someone, solely based on the color of their skin! Yes we can divide the country on the issue of race! Yes we can!
Racial is bigger effect both in sc and Nevada, both are approximate 80% agaist 20%.
So what…. What’s more important, a stupid concession speech or reaching out to more people? The press would just throw tomatoes at her anyway! Funny how the rules are always stretched against the Clintons. Listening to Obama, you’d think it was 1890 with all the race talk. If race is the #1 thing he will focus on, we’re in bad shape because there are much much more important things for the country to be focusing on… What about the economy, education, foreign policy?? Give me some details Obama or shut up!
I think that the race will be long long to go. Obama should get more diverse vote.
If elected, both Obama and Hillary Clinton will cater to the interest of the multinational corporations, at the expense of the American people because of the corporate campaign contributions they have received! The only reason Obama won in South Carolina is because Oprah campaigned extensively for him in South Carolina and over 50% of the South Carolina voters are black! The American people should vote for candidates such as Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee if they are serious about saving themselves, their families, and this country
Well im sorry to say it was just as well becauae if that tear came down we would all be in trouble again…Sorry i just cant accept the clintons back in the white house…They are not the hope of change but politcs as usual….change not for a king and queen
There goes Aaron Bruns being a sexist pig again. Good grief Fox, you need to can this guy!!
Russell, what hope and change? Every Obama shrill that harps the same line has yet to tell me what change Obama would bring other than his skin color and a different name in office.
Tsk tsk people, neither Obama or Hillary are electable so it matters little!
no concession speech. shows you what she really thinks of all the hard work put into s. carolina on her behalf. thumbing her nose again ehhh.. get ready dems.. she’ll thumb all of ya come november.. no class… I still say she belongs in roller derby, a blocker, cackling around the track is her true calling…
Russell Fox….You are very misinformed and so ungrateful. During the Clinton administration our economy was flurishing, we had a record surplus, the lowest percentage of people on welfare in over 30 years and our deficit was paid off in record time. Not to mention that the Clintons did more for blacks and latino’s than any other president in history!
I will gladly take another 4 years of the good old days!!!
David…Nevada already voted, I think you came to the table a little to late!
GO HILLARY
YOU ROCK HILLARY
YOU GO GIRL….
GO Hillary!!! latinos support you!!!
Another example of a classless Clinton. They and I do stress ” They” just want to win at all costs and have no integrity or class. Truly tacky!!!!
Lifelong Republican
Wow. Obama cleaned house. He even won over the whites. And more Democratic votes in South Carolina than Republican ones in the primary!?! Are you kidding me?! Looks like Obama could sweep the country if the tools in the Democratic establishment and the Clinton campaign don’t steal it somehow. Just goes to show that people are tired of the Clintons and their tired out DLC corporate clownshow. I think the turning point was when women realized they got used by Chris Matthews and Clinton in NH and Nevada. It worked for awhile, but after liberal women found out they were lied to by Clinton wrt Obama on abortion, they got pissed off at her for using them.
GoBama!!!
David…Why should Hillary stick around in a racist state? I would of been out of there before the voting even started…. duh!!
It’s funny that so many people claim racism when blacks vote for Barak Obama. No one seems to be deeply offended when women vote en masse for Hillary. Quite hypocritical. And no won wonders aloud if perhaps the reason that Edwards got the lion’s share of white male voters in SC is because - gasp - he’s a white male!!!
I think what everyone conveniently fails to remember is that Obama got a clear majority of whites in Iowa and got significant numbers in Nevada and New Hampshire. In fact, Hillary won those two states by very small margins. And all those states have small black populations. The Obama campaign is extremely potent in many diverse communities (white, democratic, republican, independent, black, male and female).
In the Obama vs Clinton battle, it’s a Movement vs a Machine. Only time will tell who the victor is. And racism will be a factor in voting, just as gender bias, religious bias and regional bias will too. We can only hope - even the racists - that the all-American movement which Obama is heading prevails.
Hey Southern girl, it’s called class!!!!
Well we have seen what Clinton could do in the White House , lets give this dude a chance , mind yaa darn race thing came up only after Hillary’s MLK statements…well this presidential election isn’t between WHITES n BLACKS, its about us its about AMERICA’s future , its about Worlds future. We need young blood in White House , I am just tired of freaking legacies.
Grandpa Jack… The ONLY reason Obama won is because South Carolina is like 75% black and they voted on race, not on who will make the best president. Obama has yet to speak on issues such as foreign policy, taxes, etc.. and he still has not produced his record after being asked many many times to do so! That = no experience. He will make a good preacher but not a good president.
Vote for Hillary!!
No candidate can win the white House without the approval of the israeli lobbiests.
p.s. Come Mexians wake up, do’nt be hearded by the Clintons.
Hey blah blah blah blah, check your demographics again.
And this Bill guy is using race card effectively , now he can get all the Hispanic votes in California for Hillary..

Hey Southern girl, it’s called class!!!
NOT!! ITS CALLED GOOD STRATEGY…..DUH!!
CHANGE! CHANGE! CHANGE!
Go Obama! Go Obama! Go Obama!
There is one single thing in this world that keeps me going. It is called HOPE! HOPE to get a better life. And I can promise that nobody will take away my dream!
GARY…I DON’T NEED TO, I HAVE LIVED IN SOUTH CAROLINA MOST OF MY LIFE MORON!!
Maybe Obama won it not because of race, but because he is so much better than than the billary machine. I’ve yet to see one legitimately scandalous event from Obama yet with the clintons it’s a never ending series.
Not conceding defeat publicly to Barack Obama after the South Carolina primaries, will hurt even more in the next contests. Too many tears that didn’t allow her to show respect for all those that supported her?. What kind of weak president would she be?
So many people said that it was not racism, but how to explain the fact of 80% to 20%. I think America should consider issues, experiences, etc.
Who cares if Blacks are supporting a good black canidate. As if white people have not railroaded white people for centuries.
Don’t let the Republicans divide us like this. It’s about getting the evil doers of the GOP out. They started a war under false pretenses and should be executed for treason.
Obama or Clinton but definately a Democrat.
God Bless America
so, you are black, right?
She’s a sore loser and had to go to Nashville to ‘lick her wounds’ !!! Have any of the other candidates failed to congratulate the others in the previous debates/caucus’? NO!!! She was “wheels up” in the air by the time the poles closed! What does that tell you? How about all the people that planned parties on her behalf… Gold, Silver, OR Bronze?!?!?!? You didn’t see John Edwards hiding out or moving on… He was THERE IN SC for his people and he came in THIRD! She’s rude and imagine if that’s how she handles this… (no sportsmanship or professionalism) what she would be like to work with or God Forbid as a President! She’s ‘Status Quo” Open your eyes people… your girl busted out the back door before the show was over!!! Not exactly what I would call a “Class Act” by ANY stretch of the imagination! Lastly, if any of you haters that are making this a ‘Race Issue’ have any intellectual capacity at all… you will realize that choosing sides and not ‘coming together’ doesn’t work!… Are you ‘haters’ of JFK also? If not, what do you have to say about the recent endorsement by Caroline Kennedy? Why would she support someone and say the things that will be in the NY Times tomorrow? Hilary just gave a perfect reason NOT to support her… not even taking the time to thank those that DID get out there and vote for her! How do you think those people feel? That’s what concession speeches are for! You acknowledge and THEN move on… not MOVE OUT like lightning and then quickly acknowledge! (From another State!). Unity people, is that only way… not polarization, on ANY level! It’s only January… this is just gonna get more intense… let’s see who has the ability to stay “Above the Muck”… because Hilary sure didn’t tonight!
Hilary Jilary, will be elected by kinesit, for the united states of Israel
I think that the politician should study this fact. Most Americans support Israel against terrorism.
I have noticed one thing that seems to be common amongest Hillary supporters. They really can’t stray far from there roots and they can’t seem to stay focused on facts. Name calling and ranting seems to be in their family bush.
Hillary’s support comes mostly from uneducated, ignorant or old. That is her base which is very obvious when you read these posts.

AND RACISM SEEMS TO BE IN YOUR FAMILY BUSH….WHAT A FREAKIN MORON!!
Yeah Obama!! Maybe the public is finally getting sick of the Clinton machine. The Clintons are way outdated for these times. By the way can someone tell us what she has accomplished in New Youk state that we might recall or for that matter in the past 35 years that she has been touting.
Gary, you are an embarrassment to all Republicans. Please become a Democrat.
In his victory speech in SC, Senator Obama made numerous references/inferences to race. This is surprising because, over the past several weeks, Senator Obama went back and forth in his intepreation of a phrase used by Bill Clinton as racial and not racial before saying again that it was racial. As a Harvard Law School graduate, Obama sure knows when to use race to his favor. If elected president, will Obama spread the word of hope when things go his way? Or will Obama play the race card when things go the other way?
The candidate of experience!!!!!
Just in case you have forgotten. This is the truth about the 8 Clinton years. The truth.
Those that support the Clintons need to read this. Almost 35 years of experience is recorded here.
Do your homework & decide for yourself. Are these the people we want leading our country.

RAY REEVES…What do we have to do, give you a lesson in history? The Clinton administration produced a flurishing economy, a record surplus, leaps and bounds in technology, a deficit paid back in record time and had the lowest percentage of people on welfare in over 30 years. Not to mention that they did more for blacks and latino’s than any president in history. How soon we forget, it’s so sad that Americans are sooo ungrateful!
I will gladly take 4 more years of that!!
Sure Mich - find a way to blame Republicns for the little
snits that Clinton & Obama get into - that’s the true
Democratic way - it’s always somebody else’s fault
when they lose. Sure we need a Dem in the White
House - look how good that worked out when they
took over congress. Who did you say is dividing the
country again????
Gary
see the exit polls and then make your comments.
Black voters, who made up 53 percent of the electorate in South Carolina — up from 47 percent in 2004 — overwhelmingly backed Obama over fellow front-runner Hillary Clinton by 80 percent to 18 percent.
Southern girl. Re Read my post. I asked what SHE did not Billy Boy. We know what he did beside frolicking in OUR Oval office and getting impeached.
With all due respect, Senator Obama was the one who started describing comments made about him as being racial. And after starting this whole mess, Obama acted like the one hurt from all this when things turned ugly. If elected president, I seriously don’t think this strategy will not work against foreign leaders or terrorists. They won’t give a hoot. And, based on how he reacted to Bill or Hilliary Clinton, I don’t think that Obama has the strength to handle major world events.
Shame on you ray reeves…. Like you don’t think for one minute that Hillary did not help advise Bill? She was one of the top 10 attorney’s in the United States! Impeached? WHAT? Where do you get your facts from?
Sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder…whats the matter? Did your old man cheat on you? If he didn’t he should have!!
Poor Clinton supporters in SC is this how she treats her people? Well, at least she gave a simple “thank you SC” and it didnt even look or sound as she meant it well, Oh well, on ward to Feb 5th. Obama, I like the guy but would love to see Clinton gets nomination and republicans and some democrats, independents go all out just to vote against her. If, for some miracle Obama gets nominated, I truly deeply wish him the best, why you ask? I got respect for the guy. That is all.
Oh…wait a minute..are you a guy ray reeves? Well, that explains it!!
I do not like someone only talks, does not have action., no substance.
I was very glad to see the result tonight. It exceeded expectations, and perhaps opened the eyes of some people in those “Super Tuesday” states who had resigned themselves to voting for Hillary (yawn) because they didn’t believe Obama could win. Well, he won big, real big, and Hillary not giving a concession speech doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m sure she was hoping to have this thing all but wrapped up by the 5th of February, I don’t think that will happen now. I think Americans are just starting to get warmed up to the idea of the Clinton’s fading away in the sunset. The sun of Barack Obama is rising.
Get a grip rusty… Obama won South Carolina because the majority of citizens are black. They voted on race, not on who is best qualified to be our next president… duh!!
I think that the election is just beginning. If Obama want to win the election, he must win white, Latinos, African-Americans are not enough and not convince me.
TILDAWEN… How can you have respect for Obama when he was just recently busted for defending Rezko, the slum lord? Obama defended Rezko against his fellow Americans that were living in disgusting, unsanitary conditons as if they were no better than a bunch of sewer rats! What if that was your child or family living under those conditions? Obama is only saying what he thinks we want to hear and once he’s elected, if he is, we are all in deep deep trouble~~
Good point What-Who!! I heard all about that also and it’s enough to make my stomach turn. This guy is no better than the trash I put out on garbage day!
VOTE FOR HILLARY!!
If Obama wants to win he dont need white, Latinos, African-Americans, etc. He needs American voters not a divided America. For once think whats good for our country and not what you can get from our country’s tresury. Obama, got guts to even include republicans in his speech. But I came to realized with his speech there is only one America.
Southern girl. You aren’t serious when you say Clinton wasn’t impeached? You need to get out the history books. And you failed to answer my question about Hillary’s accomplishments in NY state, guess you forgot that one. If you feel the need to engage in nasty stuff rather than answer the questions then I guess the readers can make their own assumptions. Have a nice day.
Clinton do not even know who they take pictures with like that Rezko guy. It’s like they shot themselves in the foot when that picture came out. It was funny….
This ray reeves person needs to seriously get a clue…she spews like she is some history major but she does not give facts herself. How much you want to bet that she failed history all the way through her semi- education!
Go take your meds ray!
Tildawen
You should looked at the facts, then make your comments. Talk is talk, reality is put there.
For all of you that say SC was just about race:
Obama did well among white voters, getting 24% to Hillary’s 29%, and got 50% of the white vote of 18-29 year olds.
It wasn’t just race. Some people just don’t like Hilary.
The least white vote for Obama.
Pssst. I’ve been giving the clues for all to look into. It’s there for the reading. BTW Ray is a male name. If I read you correctly then you too are under the misbelief that Clinton was not impeached. He was also disbarred and cannot practice law. Whew, you were asleep in history class huh? Maybe you know what Hillary did for NY state. You have a nice day too.
FLORIDA MOM , First the “good old days” were the result of Pres. Regan policys and his TAX CUTS. Pres. Bill Clinton and his administion had ZERO to do with the surplus , flurishing economy or the pay down of the deficit. See if the rich don’t have a reason to INVEST… THEIR money in new projects.. YOU DON’T GET NONE…. as in a PAY CHECK. The rich can keep THEIR money in the bank and live off the intrest like Kings and Queens. You get to go on WELFARE. Speaking of which, Billy boy didn’t find JOBS for the people he kicked off welfar he just STOPPED SENDIND THEM CHECKS. Yes he started WORKFARE, which cost 3 times what just keeping them on WELFARE cost.In New Jersey your party( Dem ) wants to kick people with no children OFF of the welfar rolls and on to the homeless rolls. Now this sounds more like “the good old days” of yours
and the Clintons party. And of course we come to the old stand by of the Dem-O-rats, the race card. You said that the “Clintons did more that any other President in history” for Blacks and Lations, Only Bill Clinton held office, Hillary just decided on her own to get involved in things that she had no right doing. And we all know how that turned out don’t we. Well we do ,it seems you don’t. Oh yea. This Blacks and Latinos thing. Why are you putting them together as if they are the same people or some how linked together. As for the DOING MORE FOR… you need to look at the people President Bush appointed to high level posts and how many. Then look at President Clintons appointments. Sad very sad. Sadder yet, are KOOKS like you who run their mouth all the time and don’t have a clue what your talking about. So stop the thinking, your not good at it.
heres the facts for the pics http://www.drudgereportarchives.com/data/2008/01/25/20080125_193617_flash1.htm
how can anyone forget who you take pictures with at this close.
RAY….YOUR MEDS ARE CALLING YOUR NAME….ARE YOU HEARING VOICES?
Romney said it best - The thought of Bill Clinton in the White House with nothing to do is something we don’t even want to think about!
good one tildawen. That’s what I’d call a fact!!
ROBKELLY…Sounds like a lot of double talk to me which = you have no clue and you sound like Mr. Ed… What wilburrrrrr ?
what trash hrc all of those people that voted for her in sc and then to leave and not thanks them in person..this is the person dems want as a canidate??go for it you think in the general election those same people will vote again for her…dont think so…she has no class at all…..no respect for obama …what a shame a party would want to support such a person…
TILDAWEN…….Give me a break! How old is that picture? Maybe 20 years ago? Hillary and Bill would be lucky to remember 2% of the pictures they have taken over the years. Boy, you sure are stretching hard to try and grab that olive branch, hey?
Seriously, you need to come up with something better than that….LMAO
It’s Gary B - not to be mistaken for the other Gary - One thing I can say about Iseral - of all the countries that have supported Iseral the USA has been most supportive. Maybe that’s the reason we’ve lasted so long. Of the nations that have Cursed Iseral and the People they have gone away from being a power in the world. That would include, but not limited to, Egypt - Russia - France - Germany - and the list goes on. The Bible says that God would bless those that bless Iseral and Curse those who curse Iseral. My Prayer is that who ever becomes the leader of this Great Country they remember that.
SHANE….YOUR A TYPICAL MAN–SEXIST. GO HOME AND LET YOUR MOMMY SLAP YOU!
ya beware you sound real smart quess what i said made sense to you right…
Not by a long shot dear…I eat people like you for breakfast!!
20yrs or 2yrs maybe yesterday or today facts are facts..sorry no dice. But we getting off-topic here “No concession speech for Clinton” what does it tells you of a person. She came 2nd and never thought about those people who voted for her. At least give them something like ” we loss here we continued to fight Thanks for all your hard work SC!” Dont dismissed them like they were nobody.
tildawen voters of all kind to the clintons are pawns ….they can be used and forgotten….think hrc cared to thank them no because they didnt deliver…
‘
ok…………I’ll admit….I am a republican, my parents are republican, but they are excited about Ogama…….go for it ………….I do NOT consider him a “black american”, but I do consider him an “american”…….let’s breath some fresh air into Washington!!!!!
Go for it!
has anyone really sat back and thought of the clinton machine????now there going after hispanic votes why because black votes cant be used to there advantage no more because of obama..and what will happen to hispanic voters after there used ????nothing!!!!!all for the greater good hrc…i
Tildawen—–I have read all your posts and you really need to seek help. I have committed people that were far less disturbed than you are!
Shane, you sound like a true blue idiot!!
JUST LIKE OBAMA SPOKE TONING NO IM AMERICAN YOU IDIOT
Am a republican that voted for that Thompson guy who just wasted my vote cause he pulled out, since I already voted absentee. Why, am I sounding like defending Obama. I believed republican and democrats must give us the best candidate for both sides. And if Clinton does get the nomination like I said would love that scenario. But I still believe in the two party system, primary electing which best nomination can come out of each side to compete in general election.
Some of us need to look a little closer at the remarks we make. There are no black votes and no white votes. No male votes and no females votes. VOTES are VOTES and each one represents the RIGHT of every AMERICAN CITIZEN to choose the candidate that best represents them.
To discount the so called “Black Vote” is, in itself, somewhat racist in that it implies that black voters are something cheap and/or easily peddled by common street thugs. As AMERICANS we need to be so much above this mentality–we have got to be. I hope that I can teach my kids to rise above this racial nonsense.
Hunting and fishing is a big part of my lifestyle. In fact, to me (and many others where I live) it’s a big part of who I am. My vote will likely go to the candidate that won’t take my hunting rifles away from me because that is what I find most important to me–not everyone–but just me. Why I vote is why I vote, and no one should lessen the importance of my vote because, well, “It’s only a HUNT VOTE and doesn’t matter.”
I like to think that as an American citizen my voice matters. Why wouldn’t African Americans feel the same way. Really . . . there are a lot of other countries where race is law; but please, please, please not in America!!
Sure no black voters, no white voters. But truth is 80% black voters vote for Obama.
One picture does not mean anything. Dirty Obama supporters.
First of all it is not all that easy to get a private picture with the President and his wife. Do you seriously think the secret service would let just anybody take a picture with Him? Another question, with all of the experience that Hillary is boasting about, how many bills did she get passed when she was the principle sponsor? Not just have her name added as a co sponsor for political gain. Another very important question would we even know who Hillary Clinton is if she didn’t have a husband named Bill? All of this name recognition makes me sick. Give me someone wo made it on their own merits. Someone who worked hard and got things done and was recognized for their own achievments.
By the way, this race thing is overblown. In states where there was a majority of whites voting Obama either won or lost by a small margin. So, why are we saying that people are voting alonial lines? I think people are voting for who they believe in. I didn’t hear the calls of racism when he won Iowa, NH was close. I think we all do African Americans a disservice when we assume that they are not thinking the are just blindly going into the booth and voting for the black guy. Are the voters in Iowa or NH ignorant? I think not. I think we would be all better served if we would just research each candidate and vote for the one we want representing us. OBAMA08
