For English Press One
Tampa, FL
Governor Romney often stumps on the need for immigrants to learn English and how children should not be taught in their native tongue, but instead in English. So, why did Romney launch a Spanish language ad in South Florida?
“I’m gonna get in contact with every person I can in this country regardless, regardless of the language they speak to encourage them to support my campaign. But I’ll also tell those who speak other languages, learn English. One of the things I did as Governor was consistently apply to put more money in our community college programs to teach English as a second language,” Romney said, in answer to a reporter’s question today. “So, we have a lot of people who do not yet speak English, I’d encourage them to learn it, but I’m certainly gonna communicate with them to encourage them to vote for me.”

The ad was launched two days ago in the Greater Miami market and features Romney’s son, Craig Romney who did his Mormon mission in Chile and is a fluent Spanish speaker. The governor said he was proud of his son’s part in the ad called “Mi Padre” or My Father.
Craig talks about his father’s record and focuses on his family values:
“Mitt Romney’s record speaks for itself: successful as a businessman, saved the Olympics, and as Governor of Massachusetts, lowered taxes and stimulated the economy, But above all, Mitt Romney is a family man, a great father, husband and grandfather.”

Estamos por ti Romney. Estamos de acuerdo con tu mensaje. Te apoyamos.
Romney is the only candidate who has the leadership, experience, and morals we need to lead us. He is the man. He leads in delegates, popular vote, wins, and (TAKE IT TO THE BANK) will win Florida. He will be our nominee.
We support you overseas.
I love this family.
Go Mitt ‘08!!!
Can we afford to have a president who is so arrogant as to think he can become a god (as the Mormon church teaches)? Our nation needs a leader with humility, credibility, integrity, and sincerity, not someone whose ‘next campaign’ will involve the blaspemous pursuit of godhood. Mitt Romney will excel as Mayor of Salt Lake City (or ‘Zion’ as it’s referred to by LDS folks), but please, America, not the White House.
Dr. Mike,
You obiviously need to spend more time investigating the issues and not so much time in expressing your prejustice, Mitt Romney is without a doubt the best man for the job!
Dr. Mike B.,
As a Physician I must always know to look at the facts placed before me without biased view. From your comments it is obvious that you are not representing your profession very well, be it an academic, clinical, or theological degree. Please do your education justice and either do the research before spouting off your opinions or provide the references for your view.
Kathy,
You obviously need to spend more time working on your spelling and not so much time criticizing me for my prejudice (or, as you prefer, ‘prejustice’)! I have investigated the issues and examined the candidates extensively. Romney’s positions fluctuate almost daily. He strikes me as an opportunist who will do anything to gain power (including spending his own fortune). And, as far as my so-called prejudice is concerned, is it unacceptable to you that I have beliefs that matter to me? Is it okay for me to be offended by a religion that calls itself Christian, and yet blatantly contradicts the teachings of Scripture? Although it may not be politically correct, there are millions of Americans (most of whom are Republicans) who are equally concerned about the worldview and theological underpinnings of a prospective President. From a strictly political standpoint, does that make Mitt Romney a viable nominee? For you, “Mitt Romney is without a doubt the best man for the job,” for me, he would be the worst choice imaginable - even, dare I say it, worse than Mrs. Clinton.
Dr. Cole S.,
Will the following references suffice?
“…Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me.” (Isaiah 43:10)
“As man now is, God once was; as God is now, man may become.”
(Mormon Prophet/President, Lorenzo Snow)
It may suffice for you, but is it not declared in the most important writings to this country that we shall have freedom of religion without fear of persecution so long as it doesn’t harm another individual? Is it right for me to be blasphemous towards an individual who may believe that there was a prophet after Christ? This profit could be Paul, James, Peter, Mohamed, Joseph Smith, etc. Does not your comments come across as bigoted statements toward a fellow American who desires to make America a better place? While you may not be a bigot, your comments definitely make you appear different than you may be intending to appear. Is it right to presume that the Bible is the only remaining scripture dating back to the time of Adam. Last I knew the Pharisees and Sadducees both had scriptures, as well as two different interpretations of the Law of Moses, temple ceremonies, theology, etc. Unfortunately only one group survived when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem. Is it wrong for two different groups of people to interpret scriptures differently and still respect each other? Have you looked at, read and pondered the 10 Commandments. Especially Exodus 20:16 “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
Just a thought for you. I learned that one right away from my church youth group growing up within the Protestant Faith. I just pray that others remember this same thing.
This *prophet* could be Paul, James, Peter, Mohamed, Joseph Smith, etc.
*fixed*
Dr. Cole S.
Amen brother!
Mitt is a great leader. I can’t wait until RINOs like McCain and Giuliani meet their fate in Florida.
Go Romney in Florida!
Your welcome Big Joe…It just chaps my hide when my family, friends and employees are attacked without provocation. I listened to too many people tell me what other religions believed while I was growing up. The problem is…only a practicing Jew can tell you what the Jewish faith is, like wise for all religions of the world. Christ taught love and appreciation for the Jews and the Gentiles, not Elitism, nor hatred for those around you or those who didn’t share the same belief. The Apostle’s were to go out and teach, not prejudge.
Dr. Cole S.,
You mentioned Commandment #9 (Exodus 20:16) . . . but failed to refer to the more pertinent (per this topic) Commandment #1 (Exodus 20:3) - “You shall have no other gods before Me (including, presumably, yourself!)
I have no animosity toward anyone (including Mormons). I actually feel sorry for such folks and (sincerely) pray for their salvation. But, in the context of this race for the presidency, is it not permissible for me to express reservations about a candidate based on their most fundamental beliefs? For a person whose relationship with God matters more than anything, does it not make sense for me to consider the spiritual/theological orientation of prospective presidents?
The reason Jesus was crucified (circumstantially speaking) was that He confronted those religious leaders (the Pharisees and Sadducees to whom you referred) who lied to others about who God is.
Dr. Mike B.
While I detect that your tone of language has changed…I am glad to feel the change…I must state that I still disagree with your theories.
You mentioned Commandment #9 (Exodus 20:16) . . . but failed to refer to the more pertinent (per this topic) Commandment #1 (Exodus 20:3) - “You shall have no other gods before Me (including, presumably, yourself!) The Mormon Faith “Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” doesn’t put themselves before God. They never place themselves before God or equal to God…Be it we are talking about “The Trinity” or Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ or The Holy Spirit being separate beings, personages or entities. If we can have different beliefs within Ancient Judea while there were prophets on the Earth…it is very likely that we can have different beliefs after so called prophets were taken from the earth. After all the Mormon Faith is the only Christian Faith that doesn’t have ties to the Catholic Faith and the Nicene Creed of 325 AD. Don’t a majority of Christian Faiths believe that Catholicism was corrupted centuries ago or the foundation of this country stem from the founding fathers not wanting to be forced into the Church of England? If they believe this, then where do we get our so called authority or inspiration from. Certainly not from the Nicene Creed…if you read it you come up with nothing…the Holy Bible is interpreted 1000’s upon 1000’s of different ways. If you question that, just go to the same religion in different buildings or different states or countries…let alone going to different “Christian Faiths.”
It is no issue if you choose not to vote for someone based off of your own views of them be it religious or social, but it becomes an issue when you try to throw mud that comes from misconceptions, falsehoods or bigoted fears.
Please don’t confuse the mormon faith with chiristian faith, Dr. Cole. There is a huge difference.
To stephen. Last time i checked a christian is one who believes in Jesus christ to be the son of God. This is a misconception has been passed down by generations of anti-mormon preachers! This is a false claim. Before you lay judgement of mormons go to mormon church a few times , then come back and report, you will be surprised.
Just a thought…I grew up in Wyoming which is a neighboring state to Utah and really do not know much about the Mormon faith. I grew up listening to jokes about their faith and listening to jokes about the mormons. It is a religion that I think most people are afraid of…they think of it as a cult. Early on, I really did not think the people of this country would vote for a person of Mormon faith, however the more Mitt speaks and talks about the things that he knows and understands, I think the people of this country are going to “shelf” the faith issue and vote because he is the best person for the job. I am glad that he has faith and that he is not afraid to say it. He has morales and values that I think the PEOPLE are yearning for. I wasn’t thrilled with him early on….because he was mormon…but just close your eyes and LISTEN to what he has to say. GO MITT ‘08
Well,
THis is the reason I am voting for Mitt Romney…..
To attack ones faith is very un-American, especially if you are a Baptist Preacher running for President.
Mitt has a great Family, Education, List of accomplishments……
as far as “changing positions daily” What a Lie, and people are starting to see past that
“Soundbite” and understand his change on the abortion issue.
I changed my view….I am now pro=choice if I would have to vote on it….pro-life in a personal setting……
Go Mitt! Romney in 08 and beyond!
With all of this said, Guiliani is still the right person for the job!
Nobody cares what bigots think, crawl back in your cracks where you belong, snakes.
so, AmericanWoman, are you having a bad day? Talk with us, tell us how you really feel!!
Wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Wake up you Romney Robots. A few short years ago your Mitt was a disciple of Ted Kennedy and said he was NOT anything like Reagan and Bush (check out You Tube). Two weeks ago he was hammering Huckabee about “how dare Huckabee not agree 100% with all of Bush’s policies”, and “I’m the only true Reagan Conservative”. A few days later he was shouting “Washington is Broken and I’m the Change Candidate”. What will he say and Who will he be tomorrow? I’ll tell you who, whoever he thinks he needs to be or say to get the next vote.
I guess it depends on what the definition of “SAW” is! “If I imagined it, then I SAW it, same thing”. I’ve been an avid hunter all my life”. HUH?
He needs to take up wind surfing too!
While I’m not sure who I’m voting for, I do have a short list. It does include Romney because I like his family values and I have studied and talked with family members about how “Mormons” or Latter Day Saints view public policy and foreign policy. I love their welfare program and so have past presidents…that’s why some of the Latter Day Saint’s have served in different cabinet positions over the decades…including the current Sect. of HHS. They are well respected by the Chinese people and Government. I believe that we can forge some newer and stronger ties to help civil rights in China as well as help China develop changes in their Green House Gases and Oil consumption…this in turn would help our economy by decreasing oil prices and who knows maybe help save our planet. As a small business owner I love the Idea that Mitt has for no income taxes for those of 65. It is very difficult for me to hire someone of that age because of the amount of training involved and paying them what they deserve. I would be able to hire them under his plan and it would drastically give our economy a boost since the baby boomers are very quickly beginning to retire. I honestly feel that Mitt is the candidate that is most likely able to turn this economy around. After seeing what he did for his own company, Olympics, Massachussets, completing Harvard Law Degree at the same time as his Harvard MBA, his father’s success in turning around American Motors and Michigan…what can I say…this guy has the most knowledge of any of the candidates when it comes to economics. McCain may know more about fighting the war on Terror, but with what he has shown us over the decades about being the most liberal republican on Capitol Hill…I just don’t know and with Huckabee trying to attack his religion…I don’t know what he will attack about the Muslim Faith if he can degrade a fellow American like that.
I know that Mitt has changed his position on several different social issues…and yes I have issues of my own about those changes…but he has explained them enough for me to continue looking at him as the candidate I might vote for.

“Please don’t confuse the mormon faith with chiristian faith, Dr. Cole. There is a huge difference.”
First of all if you are truly Christian you might want to capitalize the “C” especially if you put my name in the same sentence and capitalize my name. I ask that you might try to study the Nicene creed and other similar creeds. In it you will find that this is a culmination of many religious scholars that were trying to come up with the definition of God. There were many ideas before this, such as God being three separate beings yet united purpose, God and Christ being of flesh and bone. You have your classification of Christianity based off of what you have been taught and from what you interpret in the Bible. I might ask you that you would ask your minister, pastor, or priest about the Nicene Creed and their knowledge of it. I can tell that if you were to deviate from this creed centuries ago you were looked at and viewed as “false doctrine.” Tell me how many churches out there completely follow the Nicene Creed of 325 AD…NONE. Not even the Catholic Church does. So how can we hold all religions to what we pick and choose about the Nicene Creed and call them Christian of none Christian? I don’t know…I guess that we shouldn’t then.
I find it amusing that everyone keeps saying that Mr. Romney changes so much like a chameleon… Hummm.. Let see here… Let’s look at the other chameleons: Sen. McCain has changed his stance on tax cuts by trying to distance himself from his previous votes in the senate. He also is trying to change by distancing his stance on amnesty for illegals in our country. Gov. Huckabee might be the popular feel-good-speaker, but likes to change the minds of juries and judges, by pardoning a boat load of felons and some murderers, including one that went out and murdered again… I personally feel that if a jury and judge find someone guilty, they usually are. (Yes there are sad cases where this went wrong, just read John Grisham’s “An Innnocent Man.”) Thus you have a one-man jury pardoning tons of felons because it’s the “right thing to do.” You also have Gov. Huckabee being the chameleon on taxes. Instead of talking about how much he RAISED taxes in his state, therefore not cutting the fat, he now has come up with a flat tax, that all the economic groups are sighting won’t work or even make a difference. As for Mr. Guiliani, he only has 9/11 and and cleaning up New York. Forget the part about his police chief, who he recommended to be the chief of homeland security, being found out to be corrupt. And forget about the group of NYC 9/11 firemen that are following him all around Florida trying to share their opinion of how things really went in NYC, compared to the national view of what people think he did.
What I’m getting at is that all politicians will change tone, when new conditions arise. Heaven forbid a candidate have an experience (like Mr. Romney did when a member of his distant family had a terrible experience with abortion) or learned even more about a topic, that they change their views.
I think that everyone is jealous that a man who had a brilliant career out reviving companies from bankruptcy to success, reviving the olympics from a debt to a surplus, and reviving Mass. from debt to surplus. Isn’t this a man people should want to lead them too. He is a true conservative. He cut taxes, cut the fat, and helped these organizations. He is a wonderful family man, married his high school sweet heart, and is so good, that people now despise him for his successes in life, so they attack his wealth and his religion. (Oh, and that’s so Christlike…) I personally think more people should worry about their own personal faith and repentance, before they start attacking other churches. Mr. Romney is a good guy. If he can make a difference in one of the most democratic states in the country, don’t you think he can make a diffeence in a democratically controlled congress?
Glad to see Mitt is climbing in the Florida polls. I wish him well tonight in the debate and will be voting for him.
