Romney Talks Economy

Coral Springs, FL

Governor Romney has been focused on the economy since before his win in Michigan, but today he spoke at all of his campaign stops about the federal interest rate cut and the potential of a recession:

“The stock market means a great deal to people living on fixed incomes that may have savings that are being affected by what’s happening there and they want to see greater stability,” Romney continued, “But of course more significant even than the stock market turbulence is the concern in the overall market and the fear we may head towards a recession. It is important that we take very aggressive action to turn the market away from recession. “

At a restaurant that the GOP candidates and elected officials frequent, Wings Plus, the former Massachusetts governor took reporters’ questions standing in front of a new ‘Economic Turnaround’ sign. He called the federal rate cut an “unusual action” and he said he hopes Congress is able to act “very aggressively” and “quickly.”

“It’s just that a rate cut of three quarters of a point is a large change and I think indicates that Ben Bernanke and the federal reserve are concerned about the direction of the overall economy and are taking very aggressive action to try and tip it back in the right direction and I have no reason to take exception with the move they’ve taken but I do believe that Congress needs to act immediately. “

The presidential hopeful stumps daily on his experience in the business world and how that gives him the know-how he needs to fix a struggling economy. Over the weekend he announced his 233 billion dollar short -term economic stimulus plan which focuses on businesses, individuals and the housing market. For businesses, it aims to cut the corporate tax rate to stimulate growth. For individuals, it eliminates pay roll taxes for working senior citizens and it will permanently lower the income tax brackets from 10 percent to 7.5 percent. In the housing market, the plan will loosen FHA requirements so people can have more secure FHA backed mortgages and loans, calming fears of an unstable housing market.

A reporter asked Romney if the negative economic news is good for his campaign because it is a vital part of his stump. He denied it and used it is an example of his “Broken Washington” message:

“I don’t think bad economic news is good for anybody, and bad economic news is a reason for soberness and concern. I think actually that what we’re seeing in the stock market today is only one peak at what’s been happening for some time in the overall economy, and that is we have some intractable problems that Washington has not been willing to solve. “

Romney’s record as governor of Massachusetts is really not that stellar. Northeastern University economist Andrew Sum, who has researched Romney’s record, said the state lagged the U.S. average during that period in job creation, economic growth and wage increases.

“As a strict labor market economist looking at the record, Massachusetts did very poorly during the Romney years, he said. “On every measure you’ve got, the state was a substantial under-performer.”

Romney sugar-coats his record, and cherry-picks his facts and figures to paint a very rosy picture of his accomplishments. The Fact Checker has given him multiple Three Pinocchio ratings and even a Four Pinocchio rating (the worst) for some of his claims.

I would encourage people to take a closer look at Huckabee. Huckabee is the only other governor in this race, and he has a record in Arkansas more than twice as long as Romney’s. Allies of Romney funded the Club for Growth’s early attacks on Huckabee, which curiously started running ads against Huckabee far before he was much of a blip on the national radar.

Yet many Arkansas businessmen, who know Huck’s record, came out recently in support of Huckabee and stated that the Club for Growth’s ad was misleading. A closer look at the facts on Romney’s own record, on the Club for Growth’s own website (stripped of editorializing), shows his record was at least as questionable as Huckabee’s.

The fact is that Huckabee governed extremely well, raising Arkansas education standards from well below average nationwide to 8th in the nation, and repairing one of the nation’s worst road systems. He cut spending to the bone before being forced to raise taxes to cover a budget shortfall.

On the social issues, Huckabee has a proven record of supporting life and marriage whereas all Romney offers are flip-flops and promises. Huckabee can DEFINITELY be trusted on these issues but Romney not at all.

Huckabee is NOT what this economy needs. Vote for Huckabee if you want more big government tax and spend policies like he had in Arkansas. Go Here:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,316496,00.html

Huckabee has had no experience with economics outside of government.. and he earned an “F” on his economic approach in Arkansas.

Huckabee cannot even effectively fund and manage his campaign… how is he going to handle the US economy?

If you want to know who would handle the economy best… ask yourself this question, “Who would you choose to invest your personal money, Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee?”.

When it comes to strengthening the economy, addressing our budget deficit, balancing our trade deficit, and turning around our falling dollar there is no question but that Mitt Romney is much more qualified than ANY of the other candidates….on either side.

Mitt Romney wasn’t the CEO of a highly successful private equity firm for nothing. He ran that organization because is incredibly talented when it comes to running an organization, turning around organizations, and making sound economic decisions. He is a very accomplished executive who has delivered impressive results time and time again - in business, as Governor of MA, and with the SLC Olympics.

Mitt Romney - a PROVEN LEADER with the EXPERIENCE to turn Washington around!

Romney out-measures the other candidates in every category: education, intelligence, commitment to family, accomplishment, morals, eloquence, handsomeness, height, and even an actual belief in a higher power . . . Romney is an Adonis for the GOP, and the party desperately needs an infusion of the qualities Romney epitomizes. Voters are so used to seeing incompetence, bigotry and sleaze in politicians that they have become uncomfortable with the very qualities they claim to value. If Romney loses the nomination for embodying them, we are doomed as a party and country.

No one can objectively believe Huckabee is as good as Romney on the economy. If we want platitudes and pithy sayings, we can elect Huckabee to write for the Farmer’s Almanac. If we want someone who can balance the complex cogs of our economy–Romney is the man.

Something Huckabee would say, “When interest rates drop that fast you have to put a new hem on your mortgage pants.” Something Romney would do–fix our mortgage mess without totally bailing out all stupid consumers.

Something Huckabee would say “China’s trade imbalance is like the picnic table I have at home–if you don’t put Aunt Hilda across the table from you, your going to play teeter totter with barbeque in the middle.” Something Romney would do–clamp down on China.

Something Huckabee would say “Taxes are like the chicken gizzards I use to catch catfish–you wish you didn’t need something that stinks so bad but the fishing trip is over without em” Something Romney would do–lower taxes.

The media hopes this homer gets elected. They will absolutely eviscerate Huckabee.

Our economy Needs Romney! We need Romney’s wisdom and experience. Now as our nation faces adversity we need a president who will fight for our freedoms, build our economy, strengthen our national defense, secure our borders, control spending, keep taxes low, eliminate red-tape and bureaucracy, and establish efficiency in government. Romney is the man who can do it (not just talk about it). He doesn’t make excuses or justify mistakes; he fixes them and moves forward. Romney is a man of conviction and integrity with a proven track-record of success. Romney’s goal is to improve the quality of life for every individual . Your support for Romney brings us closer to better America for all.

Mitt Romney all the way, but what can we do to prevent Hillary to become the Democratic nominee? It terrifies me just to think about it!

Romney is the only one with a real understanding of the economy. Go Mitt!

I think a pre-requisite for becoming president should be three things:

1. A Master’s degree in the finest business school in our country so he/she could understand all of the economic’s of running a national economy
2. A master’s degree from a top rated law school in the country so he/she would know how the laws of our country work as well as international laws for better treaties.
3. Never cheated on a spouse.

WAIT…..That is Mitt Romney!!!!!!!! Why are we even looking at anyone else??!!

I am amazed at the misinformation the first commentator provided about Mitt Romney adn positions on Marriage. He must be lisitening to the press and Huckabee too much.. Romney has never supported Gay Marriage. A statement many years ago (before Gay marriage was even a thought in anyones mind) that he would not discriminate against them does not mean he would promote gay marriage or would have at the time. Romney fought tirelessly to the last few days of his governorship to prevent gay marriage from happening in Massechusetts. He tried a variety of creative ways to stop it where most others would have capitulated. He is the strongest supporter of traditional families. Stop the spin folks. Romney is not a flip-flopper. That was a phrase invented by the DNC early last year. The press has adopted it as though it were fact. He changed his poisition on what role goverment should take in abortions… not even his personal feelings about abortion which he has always been against- that is true. Otherwise he has been steady and true on all other fronts.

Romney is the most stable of all our presidential candiates. The most trustworthy - especially more than John McCain or Mike Huckabee let alone the DEMS.

He is also by far the most competant of all the candidates. No other candidate can claim they are solid on ALL of the following:

Strong Defense,
Strong Enconomy,
Strong Families,
Enforce Exisiting Immigration Laws.

No one can compare and the DMES and the Media Elite know it. That is why they have tried to destroy his character relentlessly. See Ann Coulters article call “An Elephant in the Room” for more discussion at:

Go MITT!!!

How does Mitt Romney make the best candidate? Look at Mitt Romney’s record…he raised taxes in Mass. by a fairly high amount while he was governor. He is not truly conservative. He used to be pro abortion. He used to be very liberal, in support of Social Liberalism.

Mitt’s economy is not the best choice.

Instead, we need a candidate who will not raise taxes. We need someone who will bring honest business into this country. We need an honest medical system. The FDA currently censors the ones who are real; the natural health care industry. Currently they are being censored, and Mitt Romney will allow the censorship to continue!

Ron Paul will truly bring this economy together. He is the truest Republican candidate. He is a constitutionalist, unlike many of the other candidates. Ron Paul has the experience to back him up.

While I understand that Mitt is popular and that he has the endorsement from the Mormons, he has said anything he could to get elected, and it’s not always been necessarily the truth. For example, at the SC debate, he said while he was governor he was decidedly pro-life. This is simply not true. Look at his record of how he strongly supported the abortion side. The change was for the election.

Ron Paul is a 10 term congressman. He has the most experience. He is one for getting rid of the Federal Reserve (the value of the dollar has more than halved in 8 years) and establishing a truly Republican economy. See the facts, and visit his Web site. http://www.ronpaul2008.com

As many tax payers owe the IRS and are in re-payment status a question stands, will these people be getting the checks from the government in May or will the government just keep the money for themselves .
