I predicted this. As I told Fred, last week, he should move to a retirement community and consider running for Neighborhood Watch Captain. Read it here: http://politiporn.com/2008/01/14/dawn-of-the-fred/#more-43

Sorry to see Fred go; he was the one candidate I could support without reservations. McCain will not get my support, I don’t care who his friends are. He lost me with Campaign Finance Reform (incumbent Protection Act), Terrorist Bill of Rights and McKennedy-let-everyone-in-to vote democrat. Huckabee scares me - I don’t trust him. Romney might be the next best choice, but he’s got baggage too. No matter who gets the nomination, we have to make sure he can beat the dems. Even if it’s a Obama/Hill ticket, we can’t afford to get either one of those in the White House!

If Mitt is such a conservative, why did he not endorse the Bush tax cuts?
——-
Representative Barney Frank of Newton asked the governor whether he had spoken against the $726 billion worth of tax cuts the president is currently pushing at the federal level. Coming on top of $1.6 trillion worth of tax cuts in 2001, Democrats argue that the next round will expand the budget deficit, drain the US Treasury of money for social programs, and prevent the federal government from assisting states facing revenue losses caused by the downturn in the economy.

Romney said he had not publicly opposed the cuts, according to one observer at the meeting, prompting Frank to ask, “Will you?” Romney replied that he probably would not. The answer triggered laughter in what both sides described as an otherwise bipartisan session.

“I was very pleased,” Frank said afterward. “Here you have a freshman governor refusing to endorse a tax cut presented by a Republican president at the height of his wartime popularity.”

Key,

Why is it that you are quoting a nut job democrat and saying this is evidence against Romney. Look up Frank and you will find some interesting stuff. So who cares what his opinion is?

In Congress, Frank is an ardent supporter of medical marijuana. He was the author of the States’ Rights to Medical Marijuana Act (H.R. 2592), an attempt to stop federal government from intervening with states’ medical marijuana laws.[10] Frank consistently voted for the Hinchey-Rohrabacher amendment, annually proposed by Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), that would prohibit Department of Justice from prosecuting medical marijuana patients.[11]
Frank has also been a critic of aspects of the Federal Reserve system, partnering with some Republicans in this opposition.[12] Frank says that he and Republican Congressman Ron Paul “first bonded because we were both conspicuous nonworshipers at the Temple of the Fed and of the High Priest [Alan] Greenspan.”[12]
In 2006, Frank was one of only three Representatives to oppose the Respect for America’s Fallen Heroes Act, which restricted protests (notably those of Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church) at soldiers’ funerals. He opposed the bill, which passed unanimously in the Senate, on civil liberties and constitutional grounds. Frank said of the vote, “I think it’s very likely to be found unconstitutional. It’s true that when you defend civil liberties you are typically defending people who do obnoxious things… You play into their hand when you let them provoke you into overdoing it. I don’t want these thugs to claim America is hypocritical.”[
