Team Clinton Says Obama Broke the Rules

The Clinton campaign is accusing Obama of a “clear and blatant violation” of an agreement not to campaign in Florida — not by stumping in the Sunshine State or advertising on local TV, but by buying national ad time on CNN.

In a statement, the Clinton camp claims 92% of Florida households get the cable news network, saying “the Obama campaign knows this, but has chosen to violate the pledge regardless.”

“The early state pledge was crystal clear in its prohibition of any kind of campaign activity… There is no ambiguity.”

The agreement among Democratic candidates was meant to protect the importance of traditional early states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina (as well as the DNC-sanctioned early state of Nevada) by pledging not to spend time or ad dollars in delegate-heavy states like Michigan and Florida that moved their primaries up into the month of January against DNC rules.

UPDATE: Obama spokesman Bill Burton says the cable networks told the campaign that it would be impossible to run national ads excluding only Florida, and that they consulted with South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler before buying the ad time. She said she didn’t consider the national buy to be a violation of the pledge.

Read the Clinton campaign’s full statement after the jump.

Statement By The Clinton Campaign On Senator Obama’s Violation Of The Early State Pledge
The Obama campaign today began airing paid television advertisements in a national cable buy that include advertising in the state of Florida. There is no question that these ads are a clear and blatant violation of the early-state pledge that Senator Obama and the other leading Democratic candidates signed last year.

The early state pledge was crystal clear in its prohibition against any kind of campaign activity (outside of fundraising) in states that do not adhere to the DNC calendar. There is no ambiguity. Among the list of prohibited activities are “electronic advertising that reaches a significant percentage of the voters in the aforementioned state.” (According to Nielsen, there are 6,6 million TV households in Florida that receive CNN through either local cable systems or satellite dishes. This represents 92% of all Florida TV households.) The Obama campaign knows this, but has chosen to violate the pledge regardless.

Just last week the Obama campaign snubbed the people of Florida in a memo that stated that Florida did not matter in the nominating process. After consecutive losses in New Hampshire, Michigan and Nevada, they appear to be changing course.

Senator Obama’s flagrant disregard for the pledge that he signed is disturbing and calls the integrity of the pledge into question.

I am sick and tired of the Clintons ‘Whining’ about everything. Rather than winning because she is the best they are complaining about everything.

Comment by Cheryl

This does NOT surprise me at all. Each time there has been a problem it has been Obama pointing the fingers at the Clintons..both of them. Neither of the Clinton’s are stupid enough to get on National TV and LIE!!! But he (Obama) has gotten away with it sooo long that now he is going a step further…he is blatently going against a promise that was made in writing. With a feeble excuse that if you have ads in other areas you cannot exclude Florida…that is rediculous us sports fans know WELL enough that when a particular GAME is not to be televisied in a certain area…YOU don’t get it. So, we all know he is just panicing and wanting to get as much coverage as possible. I think people NEED to be FAIR and STOP pointing at ONE Candidate and NOT the other.

Comment by Hillary4Pres

Well then, if all pledges and rules were thrown out the window, Obama wouldn’t stand a chance of winning. Therefore, I vote to throw all pledges and rules out the window and let Hillary campaign in Florida too. No need to cry about it, let’s be fair.

Comment by McArdle

I would never vote for a candidate with a name so foreign that I cannot pronounce it. He is arrogant , aggressive and taunts the Clintons. He is a lightweigh and he needs to get out of the ring. I am not racist but most voters are not ready for not only a Black arrogant pushy candidate but with a name that sounds like the Terrorist that we have been chasing for 5 years.

Comment by Jack

Obama, the candidate for change, breaks the rules and pretends they do not apply to him. When he’s told that it is wrong, he says that he couldn’t avoid breaking the rules…so he broke them because they don’t apply!

The only change Obama wants is the change that allows him to win.

Comment by DemsforAmerica

I’m not quite sure how this can be considered a violation of Party rules when the Obama campaign consulted members of the DNC and purchased a TV ad that is to appear in all 50 states, not just Florida. This is an example of the Clinton campaign looking for clarical errors and then going on the record and stating that there was intent from the Obama campaign to break a pledge. There is no evidence that anyone from Obama’s campaign knowingly purchased this media buy in order to play games with a pledge to the DNC. Hillary Clinton needs to start focusing on actually coming up with a legitimate way to win; these games are what’s wrong with this country and this has to stop.

Comment by Seattle_IT_Guy

I wish all candidates would quit whining and push ahead with their campaigning

Comment by Kotto

McArdle, if you’re voting on a candidate based on the name, then people like you should stay home and not vote, not to mention the racist overtones on your comment. If Obama can win Iowa, why not the rest of the country? Let others races and gender test the democracy of our system!

Comment by Fred

I like how the Clintons consider Michigan a win when they were basically the only ones on the ballot. I didn’t see Obama complaining about how Hillary stayed on the ballot. Hillary is lame.

Comment by AW

I think Obama has gotten away with far more than any other candidate - perhaps because media rich America likes to have competition and therefore continues to tout Obama this and Obama that - whereas if you read about the Clinton’s its they complain about this and they complain about that!

Imagine for one second if we actually ran a campaign that wasn’t so slanted - why are there so many people out their gunning to take down Hillary? Has she wronged you personally?

This is an opportunty we can ill afford to miss and I would simply like Obama and his team to act like they know what they are doing rather than acting like its us against the “Clinton’s” - No Sir…it’s you against the United States citizens - act Presidential and you may actually learn a few things!

AW

Comment by Jack

DemsforAmerica, maybe you should read. Obama knew that the ad would run in a state that Democrats agreed not to go into. Obama knowingly broke that agreement, knowingly broke the rule, and now is running around with his hands in the air goin “I didn’t know!”

He knew what he was doing and did not care, because Obama doesn’t care about anything other than winning. Luckily, there’s intelligent people in this world who see past his speeches and realize that he is worse than any other politician.

These games are what is wrong with this country, indeed. Breaking agreements and lying is exactly what’s wrong with America, and Obama is the biggest lier of them all.

Comment by Cathreina

I can see why the Obama camp is rustling its feathers. Plain and simple, Bill Clinton is running for a 3rd term in office. There is no question who would be the President if his wife wins this fall. Hillary would be nothing but a puppet of Bills. Even now, it’s Bill that has taken over the heavy lifting in Hillary’s campaign. Hillary now just does the fluff (soft interviews, crying, etc.)

The Obama camp and others in Washington D.C. are pointing this fact out to others. The problem with Bill Clinton’s attacks: you expect Republicans to lie and distort Obama’s record. You do not expect an ex-President and a democrat to play good cop/bad cop, lie and distort, oh heck let’s just call it what it really is, Bill and Hillary have taken swift boating to a new level towards Obama’s record. You’d expect an ex-president to be a true and honest leader. Not even George Bush was throwing around lies and deception for his son. Bill Clinton’s lies and deception are what we must avoid in Washington.

Am I wrong to believe all the above? Then why hasn’t Hillary put a stop to all the foolery and run her own campaign on her own two feet. Leave Bill at home. It’s time for it to stop. It’s time for real change. If this is any showing of how these two Clintons, will act in the White House, slander and fighting has only proven to lock down Congress, and nothing will get done.

Comment by Jack

Fred, it’s a lot like Obama trumpeting Iowa as a huge win for him and change when he split delegates with Clinton. Then, not even a month later, he loses in Nevada but possibly wins 1 more delegate…then, all the sudden, votes don’t matter as much as delegates are what is most important.

Reminds me of another Democrat who supported one thing before he supported the other. Who was that, again?

Comment by Jack

Cathreina, tell Obama to leave his wife at home. Tell Edwards to leave his wife at home.

Oh, wait, they don’t have to. They can have their wives on the trail as long as they stand back, shut up, and look pretty. Bill speaks up and we’re having a cow — a spouse of a candidate ACTUALLY has an opinion!

In a window on your web page there is a list of names and states under the title of categories. Why Is Hillary Clintons name the only one not capitaized? Do you peole dislike her that much? Stop been so petty.

Comment by Nate

So Clinton took the agreement to mean that there would be no national advertising during the primaries? Are we seriously supposed to believe this?

Comment by John

oh, cry me a river. Clinton needs to stop her whining.

Jack -

I congratulate you on being right on POINT!

It is an absurdity that he would would claim ignorance and then state he spoke with the DNC… someone else mentioned targeted Advertisement an that it was impossible to exclude a state? Who ever heard such bunk! Get real - cable operations is run regionally and advertisement is segmented through regional operations - there is a clear and definable way to stop an add from running in the State - it’s horse crap that his political flunkies thought that they would get away with this -

Good for the Clintons!

PS - it’s not whining when we have rules of engagement! Play by the DNC rules or run as an Independent and get the heck out of the race!

Comment by Bete Noir

I guess that nobody really realizes that in politics, there are no rules, there is no civility, and there is no truth. I should think that the Clintons should be most careful about accusing others of not playing by the rules, or not being loyal to a pledge.

I’m not a die hard supporter of any candidate. Sounds to me like they are all a bunch of lying, whining, backstabbing bullies that just want to be the most popular person.

now, you need to read the fine print, it says South Carolina DNC. I don’t know why would you consult South Carolina, while buying an ad in Florida.

It’s pretty ridiculous that the Clintons would say ANYthing about ANYbody else breaking ANY rules.

Comment by coatesmoe

If the Clinton campaign can continuously attack Obama then they can prevent him from getting his message accross. Bill Clinton has proved by twisting the truth he can create attention to the Clinton.
Hillary can stand and say she had nothing to do with the complaints. This works just like Spam and blocks all reception. Any defense that Obama builds up will be wasted time in defending his record or the lies of Bill Clinton.

Comment by McArdle

Kotto, I am not voting for him because I cannot get his name pronounced. I am not voting for him because I do not like his manner, inexperience, arrogance and pushiness to think that he can even compete with the Clintons amazes me. He is inexperienced and his recent outburst toward Bill Clinton will backfire royally. The Clintons have been around the block too many times to have a lightweigh like Obama continue to taunt the Clintons. He will see tonight in the debate. He is no match for Hillary and you can bet Bill will show him in no uncertain terms that he will wish he had not taken HIM on as he is starting to do. The country is not ready for an inexperienced Obama, just like it is not ready to change out language to Spanish…..

McArdle. Wow. You are dumb. Please leave our country.

Let’s be serious about the words grow up!

Both the Clintons are fully grown up and have been around long enough to know how to fix the problem -

What has Obama done? Where is his Illinois records by the way? Has anyone ever tracked them down or have we simply forgotten that his voting records and issues around the State are so minor that they do not even register on the American consciousness….

Grow up - how about Obama taking the time to learn and grow up himself - before thrusting himself on the rest of the world like someone else with a similar message of change - GWB!!! Look at where that has gotten us?

Comment by Astor

Do you people wonder why Obama does the dirty cheating of his written commitment?
Well, he has a long history of being a lier.
He talks about change, by most of his advisors are same old clintonesque figures. All these guys - jumping from one boat to another-will play major role in his team if he wins. So, nothing new under the sun, just chep rhetorics.
Keep lying, Mrs. Hussein Obama!

I, and many other lean left voters I know, will never vote for Clinton. Consider that on Super Tuesday. Is the Democratic Party prepared to lose again by nominating for the most polarizing figure in politics?

Hello Ralph Nader, or any (and I mean any) other protest vote. Me, Woody, and enough others to lose are voting for Stetson Kennedy.

Isn’t this the same Billary that had her name on the Michigan ballot??

McArdle - One more comment, I just can’t resist, your comments beg to be belittled.

You realize that you in your last post you said, basically: “I am not voting for him because … [he thinks] he can even compete with the Clintons”.

In other words: “I am not voting for him because he is running against a Clinton.”

You could have saved yourself (and the rest of us) a lot of time and angst by sticking to one succinct sentence from the start.

Everyone on the Internet is now dumber for having been exposed to your words.

2 illinois politicians. What are the chances of either one of these 2 not cheating at some point. I think Hillary is upset that Obama thought of this before she did. Carvel must be slipping.

I feel the love, the point is that America is not ready for an Obama, the Racial division is too great for him in this election. We need a big change in this Country-our country needs help after the Bush era that has nearly destroyed our country. A Black inexperienced man who is challenging his own party the way he is doing is getting him nowhere fast- we need better than that now with all of the challenges ahead… I would be ready for a “Black man” for president, just not “this” one.

I for one am sick of wealthy, well connected families turning the White House into a monarchy. Hillary, you already had your eight years there. If you wanted to make a real difference, maybe you should have done it then. You have noone but yourself and your husband to blame, but I suppose we did elect George W. so in the end we’re just asking for it.

This unfair and biased news source can’t be trusted; always crosscheck it with other sources.

Comment by Jack

Either way, Jeff, Florida was sanctioned through no advertisements or campaigning. Obama broke that sanction, so this makes Obama a hypocrite and politician — something he’s trying hard to avoid.

Your golden boy loses either way. One way, he’s a crude politician who wants to win. The other, he’s ignoring sanctions and running to the finish line despite national agreements and is a crude politician who wants to win.

Guess that change must be in pennies.

Comment by Eric Erickson

Maybe I’m missing something here. They agreed NOT to disseminate campaign info / advertising in FL? Maybe it’s just me, but don’t (or SHOULDN’T) the citizens of FL (or any OTHER state) have the right to all the information possible about the person they are going to choose to lead this country for the next 4, and possibly 8, years that they can lay their hands on? Regardless of their delegate count? This is an opportunity for citizens to express their concerns and how they want their future leader to deal with them on a national basis? On so may things of vital importance? And some short-sighted agreement exists to limit that? Seriously, am I missing something here?

This is yet another episode of Washington, and/or a bunch of “holier than thou”’s telling us what we need, how we need it, and how we’re going to get it.

My 2 cents - anyone that wants to state their case - start stating and quit wasting our time. There are several viable candidates out there - and I think everyone - regardless of state or pecking order in these primaries - DESERVES to be told everything in full.

Being from a state that is so far down the primary cycle that we are about useless and completely ignored, it would be nice to get at least a SMIDGE of effort from those candidates who seem to have pretty much made the first several states their second home.

Sour grapes? Maybe. But I would love to see these candidates be able to spread their message to every state and let the citizens decide. Not the news media - and for God’s sake - not some ridiculous courtroom gesture - decide in some litigation what any citizen is allowed to hear.

If you can’t be bothered to tell us your story, then friggin’ bow out. Obviously your message isn’t that great to begin with. (Grammatical errors noticed but not corrected - save your breath.)

Comment by Jack

NoMonarchyInTheWhiteHouse, since we vote on our leaders, there’s no danger of a monarchy. Monarchies are instituted bloodlines, without any possibility of dethronement save takeover, regicide, or death of the ruler.

So you have nothing to worry about and can vote for the best candidate, regardless of family members who ruled before.

If you’re intelligent enough to look past family names and see a good candidate, that is.

Comment by NinaK

Interesting. Hillary left her name on the ballot in Michigan, totally against the DNC rules, and she thinks that is okay. The Obama campaign puts out an ad to ALL 50 states, with the DNC authorization to include Florida. Senator Obama’s name is not on the ballot in Florida. So why are the Clintons thowing a hizzyfit?? It is clear to me that CLINTON VIOLATED THE DNC RULES AND NOT OBAMA. Like I said, his name is NOT ON THE BALLOT IN FLORIDA. The Clintons seem to think they can do ANYTHIING, including bringing busloads of people from NY the day before the primaries in New Hampshire and busloads of people from California to NE. Both states had an inordinate number of NEW registered voters who mostly voted for Hillary. THIS IS FRAUD!! It is time the DNC start investigating what the Clintons are doing and punish them on the obvious illegalities of their campaign. Is the DNC intimidated by the Clintons?? They need to step up and throw the corrupt Clintons out of the race once and for all! Watch for the busloads from out of state to arrive in South Carolina!!! The Clintons are NOT WINNING the votes, they are STEALING the votes through FRAUDULANT MEANS!!! Absolutely disgusting!!

Jack while I appreciate your insightfulness, and from your comments I am led to believe that you are much smarter than to think there is any other reason Hillary is where she is than that she is a Clinton.

Comment by Vicki

I fully expect to hear this kind of hateful racism on Fox News.

Comment by Jack

Nina, please stop being wrong. The candidates CHOSE to withdraw their names, there was no rule that stated that they had to. Otherwise, Obama would have his name off of Florida — he does not. They broke the same “rule”.

However, there was an agreement to stay away from Florida so that the “established” states could do their primaries and no one could pull a Giuliani — camp in Florida and wait. Obama broke that agreement.

So please, educate yourself before you regurgitate such ignorance again.

Comment by Jack

NoMonarchyInTheWhiteHouse, I wouldn’t presume to know why she’s there. I know she is there, and she’s a decidedly better choice than the change peddler and the ambulance chaser.

Her name certainly has value, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to be a monarchy for electing her. Even then, and assuming that the family name brings the previous administration back, I’d rather have the Clinton monarchy than the Bush monarchy — which our wonderful country locked us into for the past 7 years.

I want everyone on this page to list 5 people who have been nominated by their party to be a presidential candidate, who were not wealthy, or from a well connected family.

Comment by Leeza

Hillary Clinton needs to remember she’s the first serious woman candidate for POTUS. She (and her ex-POTUS husband) need to start behaving as if she’s a serious candidate instead of a First Lady running for office. I voted for Bill two times. I won’t vote for him a third time around and that’s what it looks like I would be doing if I voted for his wife. THAT’s why Bill needs to sit down and behave. His antics diminish the perception that his wife is capable of being President, plain and simple.

This whole crock of BS lately between the Clintons (plural! it should be singular) and Obama is enough to make people want to vote Republican. That’s a pity.

Just out of curiosity, Astor, have you considered taking spelling lessons? Maybe you should.

Well, If HRC has a problem with Obama advertising on a national network, why does she not do the same ?

Must she whine over EVERYTHING ? I say this as a Democrat AND one of her constituents. She makes somewhat racist remarks, and then blames Obama for people’s ‘interpretation’ OF her own remarks…. I say this as a white person…I can recognize a derogatory statement when I hear one — I certainly do not need OBAMA to point it out ! (not that he did).

She bursts into tears in a pre-calculated action meant to garner sympathy (and perhaps a few extra votes) after her loss in Iowa, and then resents it and whines about it when people compare those ‘tears’ to Edmund Muskie’s 20 years ago.

People, is THIS cold, calculating person what we want in the office of President ?

Vote Biden.

Vote Osama.

Vote ANYBODY but Hillary Clinton.

And I say this as a constituent.

Comment by McArdle

Phil, I did not actually say I was not voting for Obama because he thinks he can compete with the Clintons but I will stand by that . We need a candidate that lives in the real world and does delude himself into thinking he can take on either one of the Clintons without serious reprucussions. I agree that he is delusional to believe that “He” is competition in this race for the highest office in the Nation but then I guess the bar was greatly lowered over the last 8 years with the Bush fiasco.

Wow. I am just amazed at the way the Clintons carry on about how EVERYONE else in the World is screwing them.
Can Democrat voters PLEASE OPEN THEIR EYES!!!
The Clintons are the most divisive politicians in America’s history. It is ALWAYS Someone elses fault they are being screwed over when in fact THEY are The Ones doing the screwing…
They use the tactic of accuse the other person of doing exactly what they themselves are doing and have done so for Years.. They are serial LIARS…
And to the African American crowd. You mean to tell me you still can’t see or maybe the term should be WON’T let yourself see how they are Using YOU for their OWN gain.
How many Blacks were in Billy C’s Cabinet? 1? Ron Brown HUD? Woopty do. Man he really paid you guys back for getting him elected didn’t he… Face the facts they are RIGHT NOW REPLACING you (the African Americans ) with the Latino vote. Why do you think they want to let them ALL in the country . To replace Your VOTE.
Wake up and smell the coffee people.
The Clinton’s will do anything, say anything and use ANYONE in their quest to WIN.
But I’ll save the worst for last here.
WOMEN VOTERS.. How dumb can you be, REALLY?
So nothing matters other than She is a Woman??? That qualifies her to be President of the United States??? Isn’t it amazing how after 15 YEARS she FINALLY shows some kind of “HEARTFELT” Emotion??
Like that makes a difference, Maybe Iran President Ahmadinejad will fall for that as well…
I guess she was hiding her softer side in the closet all this time And YES! She just found it!! Right behind the box labeled “Rose Law Firm Billing Records”
Your are so gullible.. They stand for nothing other than themselves.
You have been brainwashed by the Clinton washing machine… It’s set on Heavy Duty Spin and is working overtime.
The time is upon us to put an END to this political nightmare of the past and move on with a new generation. The OLD Hacks time is OVER for BOTH Sides. Enough! Time for the Voters to take the country in a different direction.

WOW! While I cannot and do not condone candidates who cheat and lie … Wake Up Folks! It’s been going on for a very, very long time. This run for President is no different!

George Bush, while campaining in my home state of New Hampshire, told us “Read my lips, New Hampshire! No New Taxes”!!!

Bill Clinton told America, regarding Miss L, “I did not have sex …”. So, what they did was not ’sex’??? Get real!

I could go on but you understand where I’m heading. This is part of the race for what is likely ‘The Most Important Job On Earth’. Get used to it or do something to change it. Complaining / commenting to one another in a forum such as this is a start, a very good start! Now, let us take the next step to take back our country.

No, I not sure what that step is (I’m just an Ol’ Sasquatch). But, me thinks that voting for any candidate who is qualified to handle the position, is a start. Don’t vote along party lines if you can help it. Yeah, some states make you choose a party and you are limited to that party. DUMB!

Age (IMHO) really doesn’t matter! The same was said of John F. Kennedy, whom I believe to have been one of our country’s best leaders, ever!

You’re all smart people! Learn to seperate the hype from the truth.

Vote and make a difference!

God Bless! Even if you don’t believe in Him.

Jack, amen to getting Bush out of the white house, but what does Hillary have in-store for us? She does have the most experience by far. With that comes the most obligations to political insiders, and corporate interests, and many grudges for her to settle on our time. I agree with most of what she stands for, unfortunately I believe she will be too caught up in politics to make most of her promises come to fruition. Just like any area of life the experienced always TELL you why something wont work, while the fresh thinkers will always ASK why not?

Comment by Bill in California

Perhaps because Obama is doing best among the young and well educated, it appears that the Clinton campaign is going after the less discerning voters. It isn’t necessary to prove that the ad did not violate the pledge to establish that there is a very good argument that it did not, including an advance opinion by the S. Carolina DNC chairperson to that effect. Thus, at the very least, the Clinton campaign is simply lying by stating how “clear” and “stark” the situation is. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how disingenuous the Clinton campaign position is. Contrast that disingenuous cry of “foul!” by Clinton to the silence of Obama in regard to Clinton touting Michigan as a “win” when she shouldn’t even have been on the ballot, and nobody else was! These complementary facts support a conclusion that Clinton has decided the bulk of the electorate is stupid. Or, I suppose, a different conclusion: that she can be decent for about three days before she starts slinging unwarranted mud again.

First of all, I wish to offer “McArdle” a lot of love, since he’s “not a racist”.

Clearly, he is coming from a place he wants to fight racism.

Yet, perhaps his methods to fighting racism might need some reworking to that end. Now, McArdle raises the interesting point, can you be not a “racist” and a nationalist: writing that “I would never vote for a candidate with a name so foreign that I cannot pronounce it.”

One wonders what exactly is foreign.

A number of questions come to mind for me. Were European names foreign many years ago (and today still)? Were indigenous peoples names so different from each other? What constitutes a xenophobe? (shall we say it is only “A deep antipathy to foreigners” – but are the ways of a mixed hybridised urban space such as those found in San Francisco, New York foreign to themselves? Does McArdle have a speech impediment — for example are mono-syllable names such as ‘Bush’ easier to vocalize. I guess ‘Giuliani’ (Italian) is out, so is Huckabee, Romney (that ‘mn’ combo is hard, you know), maybe Edwards (but that’s two syllables with a tricky ’s’ at the end. I’m stuck here — maybe it’s time to draft Jenna Bush (but oh no, is she Bush-Hager now?)

McArdle claims that Obama is “is arrogant , aggressive and taunts the Clintons.” Sound like most politicians at times. Yet maybe we could do some kind of analysis on the qualitative aspects of when politicians are arrogant so that we could better explore this assertion. After all, if all men and women are arrogant at times, thus Obama being human would no doubt sometime fall into that sometimes category. But maybe his less arrogant than his adversaries? How would we know? How does McArdle define arrogance? Enlighten us, please.

Next, is Obama a lightweight? Fair question, again to ask of all the candidates – yet in what? Moral values, commitment to social justice, commitment to multi-national collaboration? Maybe Obama is not a lightweight on those measures after all. If one uses the metaphor of boxing “ring” as does McArdle, wouldn’t that imply that in a way, McArdle expects candidates to be able to show a fighting spirit and practice? (Is McArdle calling for arrogance?)

Now, let’s go back to this racism thing of McArdle – for many racism would be ‘The theory that distinctive human characteristics and abilities are determined by race’ and so why would it be important to note Obama’s race attributes in this regard: “most voters are not ready for not only a Black arrogant pushy candidate” – is that an observation or an agreement / suggestion? For example, let’s substitute the word White, or female for black. Are we then concerned with arrogance and pushiness? Is there an interaction effect at work?

Now what about the homonymical qualities of that candidate’s name? We would have to first changing an “s” for a “b” to construct such a namesake. Yet, apart from the rhyming nature of it, I do not believe it sounds like it, per se. But let’s say it did — does having the same first name equal guilt? Think about Ronald Reagan (president) and Ronald Dominique (serial killer); they are quite different to me.

Now in terms of time frame – I believe we have had on our unsuccessful radar, Bin Laden for many years (more than 5). But perhaps the chasing has only been occurring for 5 years.

What is McArdle’s American vision? Easy-to-say words – do they have any more moral weight than the more poly-syllabically incline?

Anyways, I’m delighted with McArdles’s assertion of “not being a racist.” It seems like a very good start – even if fitfully began.

Lastly, consider the term “race bating” not something directly introduced, yet worthy now in retrospect of the comment.

After reading McArdles concerns, I wish Mcardle and Obama the best of luck.

(shall we say it is only “A deep antipathy to foreigners” – but are the ways of a mixed hybridized urban space such as those found in San Francisco, New York foreign to themselves?

Is it fair to wonder if McArdle has a speech impediment — for example are mono-syllable names such as ‘Bush’ easier to vocalize.

Now, let’s go back to this racism thing of McArdle – for many racism would be ‘The theory that distinctive human characteristics and abilities are determined by race’ — and so why would it be important to note Obama’s race attributes in this regard: “most voters are not ready for not only a Black arrogant pushy candidate” – is that an observation or an agreement / suggestion?

For example, let’s substitute the word White, or female for black. Are we then concerned with arrogance and pushiness? Is there an interaction effect at work?

Now what about the homonymical qualities of that candidate’s name? We would have to first change an “s” for a “b” to construct such a namesake. Yet, apart from the rhyming nature of it, I do not believe it sounds like it, per se. But let’s say it did — does having the same first name equal guilt? Think about Ronald Reagan (president) and Ronald Dominique (serial killer); they are quite different to me.

In terms of time frame – I believe we have had on our unsuccessful radar, Bin Laden for many years (more than 5). But perhaps the chasing has only been occurring for 5 years.
What is McArdle’s American vision? Easy-to-say words – do they have any more moral weight than the more poly-syllabically incline?

Lastly, consider the term “race baiting” not something directly introduced, yet worthy now in retrospect of the comment.

Anyways, I’m delighted with McArdles’s assertion of “not being a racist.” It seems like a very good start – even if fitfully began.

After reading McArdles concerns, I wish Mcardle and Obama the best of luck.

Woops (double post)

Cheryl, The Clintons don’t get on TV and lie? The heck they don’t! Both Clintons are the biggest liers and manipulators I have ever seen. The Clintons and all the scandals they brought to the White House and the scandals they created while in the White House are shameful! Some of these scandals involved the FBI Files on republicans (Hillary got hold of them), rape and sexual attacks allegations against Bill, Monica Lewinsky. (Yes, BILL came to the world’s livingroom, pointing his finger at us and angrilly telling us, “I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN…MONICA LEWINSKY”. Thanks to Monica, she preserved her blue dress with Cilntons sexual DNA on it and proved her case) Both Clintons spent most of their time lyng, deceiving, spinning, and covering up. We, the people, paid millions for the investigations and legal costs. Bill Clinton is the ONLY President to pass a bill where the taxpayers pay for any legal issues involving the President. I personally do not want this scum back in this nation’s White House!

Why would anyone believe anything out of the clinton’s mouths?
Does everyone forget “I did not have sexual relations with that woman?”
Here it is in case you’ve forgotten: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiIP_KDQmXs
I love it how many are defending Hillary on Martin Luther King Day. Lest we forget that Hillary was a Goldwater girl in 1964. And that Goldwater voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
“For black people, Goldwater today meant bread and water tomorrow.”

What’s fair to the “Goose is fair to the Gander”.Obama knew the rules and also knew that CNN airs all over Florida. Obama calls for “Change” in Washington, but he has never said just what changes he will make if he is elected.

I know this was posted earlier, but it requires re-iterating:

Yes, technically speaking Obama broke rules in campaigning in Florida,

BUT

Who was the only Democratic nominee to leave themselves on the ballot in Michigan, and now declares herself the “winner”?

I don’t recall Obama or Edwards pointing huge fingers at that one.

Is the Clinton website that shows her ads available in Florida?

[...] The state was stripped of delegates and Democrats vowed not to campaign there. The Clinton campaign picked up on the Obama ad and pounced, saying on a conference call this was a violation of the pledge and that [...]

Is this a tag team match or a presidential election? I am tired of hearing about the Clintons. Which one is running for president?

This is such BS by the Clintons. They never play fair or tell the truth themselves.

Obama bought NATIONAL time, not FLORIDA time. And it was probably not Obama, but rather supporter Oprah that bought and paid for the time. She did say that she would spend $100 million of her own money to place ads and carry on a one woman support of her chosen candidate. There is nothing in the rules about any individual buying advertising time to say what they want. She has the money honey and she can spend it like no other.

The Clintons need to grow up. Hillary cannot make it on her own anyway. She needs Billy Jeff to front for her. Is Billy Jeff going to take on the terrorists when Hillary fails and comes crwaling back bawling about how badly she was treated at the negotiation table? Yeah>

Get over it Clintons. Run your own campaign and let the others run theirs. Let the people decide.

Hmmm…DNC does not allow campaigns ads in Florida…..Hillary has big influence with DNC… is this Hillary’s rule or DNC’s rule to not allow ads in Florida? Talk about being a cheat!!! Shame on the Clintons….oops…they did say that they will win at all costs. It seems when Obama gets an edge in the polls then the Clintons start crying and whining. That is not a good persona to have when in the White House…..perhaps, Hillary could just do the banging of her shoes on the table like Krushev (sp?) did in the 60;s. Both Hillary and Obama need to act like grown ups and not like spoiled little children.

This is clearly FOX news at its best. Take a comment that might create some tension in the democratic fight, explode it make it big, and protray anything off of the FOX political agenda in negative light. I’m sure that neither clinton nor OBAM really are making a big deal about this.

Get your real news from some place that won’t outFOX you.

Cheers.

sick of the complaining, think again. Clinton, Kucinich, Dodd, and Gravel were all on the Michigan ballot for Democrats.

Much like Obama, your facts are fantasy.

Where is the Clinton’s integrity? This election is not just about Bill and Hillary scoring a victory–this is about America, American’s and the future of this country in the world’s eyes. Do we want to show the world this is what we stand in this country-do everything and anything to get what you want? How can anyone trust these people to take over our country? I hope Americans are reading these articles and realizing that winning is nothing if you lose your soul and integrity doing it.

Please America, just say NO to the Clintons.

Comment by Reggy Mack

This is another example of the clinton campaign trying to win at all cost. Obama did not campaign in FL. This was a national add that went to all 50 states. Obama spokesman Bill Burton says the cable networks told the campaign that it would be impossible to run national ads excluding only Florida, and that they consulted with South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler before buying the ad time. She said she didn’t consider the national buy to be a violation of the pledge.
So this was not an attempt to get primary votes from FL. The Obama camp new that they couldn’t get the delegates so why would they campaign there. This is the Clinton campaign crying like usual.
