Romney: Absolutely No Regrets. . .Well, Maybe a Few
Titusville, FL
Governor Romney went on a tour of the Kennedy Space Center today and then took questions from reporters. Unfortunately, for us the tour was closed to the press for security reasons. After covering three shuttle launches I would have loved to seen the place up close.
I took the opportunity today not to ask the presidential hopeful about his rivals or campaign strategy. Instead, I asked him if he had any regrets about his campaign so far. He admitted a few:
“Gosh. The answer is I’m sure there are some things I’d regret but I’m not sure I want to lay them all out. I mean hindsight is 20/20. The states I didn’t do as well in I’d probably put less in. The states I was close in I’d put in more,” Romney continued, “Of course there may be small adjustments we would make here or here but the truth is given the knowledge of circumstances as they existed during the campaign the actions we took, the team we put together. The fundraising we did, the states we focused on, looking back we said we made the right decisions.”
Romney told reporters about the tour and said he supports the NASA program, President Bush’s “vision program”, and “an ongoing mission to Mars.”
“We were able to get up into the shuttle itself and look into the cockpit and also got a very close view of the launch site. You recognize the great technology associated with this project, and also the staging area, where the equipment is assembled before it’s put in the cargo bay.”
Romney was also asked about an important issue to Florida residents battered by hurricanes, the National Catastrophe Insurance Fund. He refused to endorse a “specific bill,” but said:
“I’m willing to sit down with the governor and with leaders of the insurance industry and others, and talk about the options for providing for home insurance for individuals that are finding it difficult to find that insurance, and to deal with the gap that exists between what is available privately and what needs to be available for people to have confidence in their economic future,” Romney continued, “The CAT fund makes sense to me. But I haven’t looked at a specific proposal.”

I appreciate Gov. Romney’s willingness to sit down with Florida’s governor and insurance officials to develop the best plan to protect that part of our nation that is subject to hurricanes. Romney asks, listens, learns, and evaluates before he decides. Once the best solution has been determined, he LEADS decisively. I TRUST Mitt Romney. He is our best candidate on the economy. Romney knows how to create and hold jobs. Without a strong economy, nothing else works! Romney has turned failing businesses into productive, profitable ones. Romney has real world experience with the global economy. He has used his knowledge gained as a Harvard business school and law school graduate to solve problems in private business, the Olympics and as a governor. Many consider Romney to be a political genius.
Romney will absolutely support and defend our constitution. He supports states rights and individual rights. Romney believes in freedom. He will work for equal justice for every citizen and every state. He cares about those voters and states that other candidates have snubbed.
Romney is a man of integrity who has lived socially conservative values his entire life. He is free from the pay-back politics that always happen when a person has served many years in the senate. Romney is the most capable of creating real change. He will bring new vision, energy, efficiency and dignity to the presidency. Romney is a TRUE Republican who is committed to the long-term strength of our nation. The more closely I examine Romney, the more I like him. Romney has my vote!
Anyone who listens to this man without any prior bias or bigotry can clearly see that he is the man with the knowledge, experience, leadership, decision making and problem solving skills that we are desperately going to need in our next president!
I honestly believe he is the best choice conservative Republicans can make for 2008!
MITT ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!
Mitt is clearly the best choice for conservatives. His excellence in every aspect of his life speaks for itself. Go Mitt!!!
Go Mitt! FIX washington and our economy!
Bring back prosperity, VOTE MITT in 08!!!!!
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.43 billion per day since September 29, 2006!
In Fiscal Year 2006, the U. S. Government spent $406 Billion of your money on interest payments* to the holders of the National Debt. Compare that to NASA at $15 Billion, Education at $61 Billion, and Department of Transportation at $56 Billion.
US is facing economic collapse if we do not have the economic genius Romney to fix it.
“When your neighbor lost job, it’s called recession. When you lost job, it’s called depression”
Remember who said that and remember what happen to the Soviet Union when their economic collapse.
Wake up American people!
Mitt Romney’s successful business experience, successful Olympic experience, and successful state governing success
set him above all other candidates. His vision of using economic strength to combat terrorist and his Apollo plan for energy independence are also set him above all other candidates.
He is a real leader who can lead American to build a strong economic and therefore a strong nation!
Hope American people will elect Mitt Romney, the only competent candidate, to be our president.
I agree with the Mitt supporters, he’s so intelligient, has super leadership abilities, INTEGRITY, and he has a plan that will work. Anyone with eyes and ears can hear and see that he is a wonderful breath of fresh air for this country and the American people. We need him to fix Washington, it’s been broken for way too long. It’s time for a major overhaul, and he can do it!
GO MITT!
Any vote for romney, mccain, giuliani, thompson or huckabee and you climb in bed with Australian Rupert Murdoch here screwing with our elections, he knows he can’t buy Ron Paul, that’s why he is censoring Ron Paul’s name from even being mentioned in his massive media holdings. Youtube Ron Paul and Fox, vote Ron Paul, not who Murdoch is massaging.
“Anyone who listens to this man without any prior bias or bigotry can clearly see that he is the man with the knowledge, experience, leadership, decision making and problem solving skills that we are desperately going to need in our next president!”
But that’s the point, JH. If you just listen to Romney today, he sounds great. The problem is that his pitch is so different from his one from 4 years ago, when he said he was a “progressive, moderate Republican.” The man will say anything to get elected…
Mitt Romney is the biggest FLAKE ever! He thinks his millions will help him get the nomination. But he is dead WRONG! It’s clearly the more experienced and well-liked John McCain who is gonna eventually get the nomination.
I totally agree with Ken Fields…Romney will do anything to get elected. He has NO values.
Anyone who listens to this man without any prior bias or bigotry can clearly see that he is the man with the knowledge, experience, leadership, decision making and problem solving skills that we are desperately going to need in our next president!”

Give me a break! They all will say anything to get elected. Look at the record of the candidates. There is not one candidate out there that has not flip-flopped on one issue or another. John McCain sounds like a moderate democrat to me. Exactly where does John McCain stand on the issues? He has the mainstream media campaigning for him. We need new blood in Washington. John McCain is a true blue dyed in the wool politician. He can’t relate to the everyday worker or the everyday person. He will be more of what we already have in Washington. We don’t need 8 more years of the Clinton’s and we definitly don’t need a brown noser like McCain in Washington.
My vote goes to new blood!
Tom - wherever you are - I haven’t decided who I am voting for yet ——- but ——-Romney is anything but a flake. From your statement it sounds like you may be the flake. Any bright person who has listened to anything Mr. Romney has to say would know he is a very very intelligent man with great experience in government and business both national and foreign. Also for crap sake don’t hold having alot of money against any man who has worked hard to earn it. THAT IS THE AMERICAN DREAM FOR ALL OF US, and for the man having no values - COME ON TOMMY - he may be the only one running that has any values ……………. I think you just helped me decide who I am voting for. Thank You Very Much…………
GO MR. ROMNEY GO GO GO……………..
i hope those who have been supporting thompson and huckabee will throw their support behind Mitt. john mccain is a rino plain and simple.
i will lose respect for Fred if he endorsed his friend Juan. that will show me he’s no longer the conservative he claims to be but more concerned with defeating the democrat - whether it be hillary, barach or juan edwards.
i for one will not cast a vote for john mccain. so the media and the republican can shove him down our throats all they want. but he won’t get this wife and mom’s vote.
I stand by what I said earlier about Mitt Romney. He is a flipflopper and his years as the governor of Massachusets has only proved it. He supported gay rights and was pro-abortion when he was the governor. I could go on and on about his lack of any true conservative credentials. American people are not stupid, we don’t trust him.
He maybe under the illusion that he can “buy” the nomination, but that aint gonna happen. We need a strong leader who can stand effectivey against Hillary Clinton come November and Mitt just can’t do it. He will be ripped apart the Democrats.
Go John McCain!
Romney is a genuine and unique candidate because of his experience. He is called a flip flopper by many who have not really studied his record. They are like Parrots repeating something they have heard, yet do not understand. I have researched Romney in depth and am constantly impressed. So what do people have against him? He is too perfect maybe? I suppose that Americans have become so dependent on leaders mired in controversy that they can not trust a truly good leader. That is too bad.
I find it ironic in a twisted sort of way that Huckabee supporters will call Mitt a flip flopper when Huckabee changed his views completely on immigration in THE MIDDLE OF HIS CAMPAIGN! WOW. Yet I have not heard him called a flip flop ever. Huck went from,” Open borders, open arms” to his intense desire to build a wall. Weird.
McCain brags about his military experience and our nation’s security yet he has spent 22 years as the Senator of Arizona while the illegals flooded his state. What did he do while all of this was happening? He worked diligently to provide them amnesty, so much for his great military experience and his ability to secure America. The Dems would love McCain as the Republican candidate. Either way they would have a Democrat in office.
I’m ready for a change in Washington. I’m ready for ROMNEY!
If Mitt Romney gets the nomination of the Republican party, it will be the biggest mistake the Republican party makes. I don’t think American people trust Romney, he is a flipflopper and and has credibility issues.
As far as illegal immigration is concerned, I am appalled to read most responses to this article. Mitt hired illegal immigrants to work on his muti-million dollar home. Where were his credentials then? I think he is a FLAKE and he cannot be trusted. Not now, not ever.
