Too bad Fred bowed out, but his numbers were too weak.

This will be a 3 to 4 way race for some time to come. McCain's the clear frontrunner, Huckabee's got momentum, Romney has enough $$ to stay as long as he wishes, and don't count Giuliani out yet. The 9% that Thompson was pulling will probably split along these lines:
5% McCain
3% Huckabee
1% Romney

Of course, that will be a difficult number to quantify. I think it really puts McCain in a much stronger position.

Clinton is beating Obama fairly strongly in the polls right now. One thing I haven't seen mentioned by reporters is the turnout ratio for supporters of those two candidates. My suspicion is that older voters who lean toward Clinton are more likely to vote than younger voters who lean toward Obama. It's difficult for polls to account for that, but that's probably why the polls were so bad in New Hampshire.

I live in SC and this is how I see it:

1. He should have given a better response to Fred's attack during the SC debate. If he was prepared to defend and counter-attack he would have marginalized the Southerner who ended up stealing his votes.

2. He shouldn't have written off the Lowcountry. I live in Pawleys Island and he never made a showing. John McCain came three times. Huck has a Veteran Bill of Rights and message appealing to Christians. He could have reached us. If he had done that he could have had the votes in the area where it was raining not snowing.

3. Although I had gotten the permit for our county, I was unable to get a single sign to post from Huck's campaign. Needless to say not a good showing here in Georgetown County.

The funny thing about conservatives is they did not look at the big picture. Sure Fred Thompson helped McCain win S.C. But he also allowed Mitt Romney to get back in the race. McCain won't have thousands of independents votes in FL. All of a sudden Romney is the front runner Florida. And there's nothing McCain or Thompson can do about that. I guess the McCain camp will now pay Thompson to bad mouth Romney. Thompson needs to do everyone a favor and get his old dried up prune face out of the race. And take that beat up old looking war hero with him. Romney, Giuliani, or Huckabee will win the GOP nomination.

I stated in my earlier posts, please go back and read them, that I have ruled out the Washington insiders.

They had decades to fix things, and it is business as usual.

So, for me it is about candidates that actually have a record in an executive position, which leaves us with the mayor and 2 governors.

I exclude the mayor for your reasons and others of mine own.

That leaves Mitt and Mike.

My question to you is ......

Other than the fact that Romney looks presidential,
what is it about Romney that you think is so great?????

Awaiting your reply.

TO Citizen of Massachusetts -

The David Parker incident was horrific and I do wish the Gay Marriage issue had been handled a little differently, but to put full blame on Romney is ludicrous. I accept he has made some mistakes, but he has always made great effort to rectify them. You forgot to mention Governor Romney came out publically in full support of David Parker.

Governor Romney has consistantly moved to the Right with a record to show it is genuine.

Would you rather have McCain who refuses to vote on practically EVERY social issue and has obstructed most of Republican Legislation, and who will absolutely not vote on Federal Traditional Marriage legislation?

Would you rather have Huckabee who shifts with the wind with no record to back it up...one who shows great prejudice toward other Americans, and seems to never have gotten out of high school? Who raises taxes at the drop of a hat?

Would you rather have Rudy who has no objection to Gay Marriage? Take the David Parker incident and multiply it by millions.

I am still in favor of Romney. He is not perfect but is far better than the other choices.

Article excerpt from Newsmax:

John McCain has an out-of-control temper and displays nastiness with critics.

Defending his bill to give amnesty to illegal aliens, McCain unleashed a tirade on Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who had voiced concerns about the number of judicial appeals illegal immigrants could file under the proposed legislation.

“F*** you!” McCain said to his fellow senator. “I know more about this than anybody else in the room!” McCain shouted.

“He [McCain] would disagree about something and then explode,” said former Sen. Bob Smith, a fellow Republican who served with McCain on various committees. “[There were] incidents of irrational behavior. We’ve all had incidents where we have gotten angry, but I’ve never seen anyone act like that.”

Is that someone whose finger we want on the nuclear trigger?
*******

Rep. Tom Delay also said that McCain did more to block Conservative Legislation than any other in the senate. He affirmed that McCain is not a social conservative and that he hardly ever worked with the Republicans. He consistantly worked against them.

McCain is frightening!!!

"We would all do well to check facts from reliable sources."

CNNBR and Tired of Rhetoric, I couldn't agree with you more, check your facts from reliable sources.

Firstly, I have lived in the people's republic of Massachusetts for decades.

Secondly, you just haven't done your homework on Romney. Please at least view some of the videos from back in the day when he was campaigning for Senator in our state, he was trying to out liberal Ted Kennedy. How anyone can believe Romney is a conservative is beyond belief.
The latest action was to MANDATE a health care program for everyone in the state.
No choice for the citizens in my state, if you don't get health insurance, you invoke the wrath of the state of Massachusetts and penalties for doing so.
That sounds a lot more like Hillary Clinton than Ronald Reagan.

Thirdly, as far as gay marriage, he could have easily vetoed the justices opinion, (judges do not make laws the legislature does) the legislature was given time to enact a law which they never did. But more importantly, in the state constitution it clearly states that the judicial branch is no authority on the marriage issue.
But what really ticked everyone off is that Romney did nothing to help get issue put to a vote by the citizens of Mass. He was willing to sacrifice traditional marriage for the sake of the gay lobby groups.

With the onset of gay marriage, we have full fledged gay agenda indoctrination in our schools starting at the kindergarten level.
We already have a parent arrested and put in jail because of forcing the indoctrination on his child in kindergarten.

Do yourself a favor, google "David Parker arrest"

Romney is a disaster.

Like I said before, I could go on and on. There is no shortage of material to work with.

Do your homework on Romney!!!!

HMMMMMM. Where was McCain and Huckabee in Nevada? The West sees the race in a completely different way than the KKK and Bigoted South. Huckabee came in a laughable 8% along with McCain's 12% in a state where there is only 8% Mormon (many are Democrat), and only Republicans are allowed to vote in the Republican Caucus. At least Romney came in with 16% in a state (South Carolina) where most wouldn't even consider him because of all the Anti-Mormon ridiculousness Huckabee and his minions have spread. (Huckabee has even written Anti-Mormon literature.)

To the "Citizen of Massachusetts" who has cited that Governor Romney enabled Gay Marriage in his state: You should check the facts before you start puppeting your sources. Governor Romney actually sued his own state over Gay Marriage legislation and under tremendous opposition. That is a LEADER. If you were a Massachusetts citizen, you would have known that.
