Game On Rudy!
After semi-competing in the first few primaries (w/ little to show for it) and investing most of their resources in Florida, the Giuliani campaign says it is ready for their GOP rivals to join them in the Sunshine State, which they have already preemptively named “Rudy Country.” Senior Adviser Tony Carbonetti sent a half-hearted congratulatory note out tonight, taking shots at McCain and Romney:
“We congratulate Senator John McCain on winning the South Carolina primary. While the race remains wide open, we welcome the candidates to Florida for a real discussion of the issues we’ve been talking about since day one. Florida voters know that in a field where one candidate twice voted against the Bush tax cuts and another wasn’t even sure they were a good idea, Rudy is the only candidate who has a record of cutting taxes, a plan for the largest tax cut in modern American history, and a proven ability to jumpstart the economy.”
Since the Giuliani campaign is now using the Rudy movie theme song as their entrance music and are the underdog after a few primary losses, I thought it was apt to show the locker room speech from the movie where the Coach Dan Devine rallies the team for their final home game. In the movie, that Rudy enters the game for the last series with Notre Dame already up 24-3. But, this Rudy comes into his home game with different circumstances….time to rally the team!

Nice. Keep putting news out about Giuliani but not Ron Paul, who is currently dominating him in votes. Please, enough with the manipulation I beg of you. Be fair. Be balanced.
Maybe if Rudy is feeling generous he’ll hold a room for Mr. Paul in Gracie Square Hospital. They do wonderful work with the mentally ill.
Rudy actually was trying in some of the early states, but he abandoned them when it became clear he wouldn’t win. The news media is helping him with his “I’m not really trying yet” spin but it still doesn’t seem to be working, as his national poll numbers and fundraising are tanking like crazy.
I like Paul, I know he’s not likely to win but it’s mystifying that the media virtually ignores his second-place finish in Nevada as well as the fact that he’s beat Giuliani in every single race except New Hampshire. People always wish they could vote for an honest, principled, small-government conservative candidate who doesn’t sell out to special interests, but when one comes along like Paul, they write him off as “unelectable” or even “kooky” and instead go for the standard politicians who just answer all questions ambiguously so that everyone thinks they agree on everything.
I hope that Iraq becomes peaceful and democratic, and that the economy turns positive very soon. But if they don’t, I imagine next year at this time the knowledgeable pundits will be pointing out that Ron Paul was the only candidate who had it right.
I am sick and tired of the Media making all the descisions for the American people. I don’t know when did a journalist’s job had switch from reporting the news to actualy dictating the news. It’s about time those big networks give the American people space to breath, let us choose our own leaders. It’s not the Media’s job to tell us who is electable and who isn’t. Rudy Guiliani was runing on that Terrorist threat notion, hoping that American are stupid enough to elect him as President Because he keeps making reference about 9/11. Let me tell you something Rudy, Hunting down the Terrorist is not enough to Make you the next President of the United States. Guiliani is two faces liar, He claims to be the best suited person to defend America, Yet he is dealing with companies that support terrorist Organizations.
why is it you independents always rally around the talking heads like R. Paul??? He’s done NOTHING to prove leadership of ANY KIND and if you think he’s worthy of being the leader of the free world you may want to learn some more ABOUT the free world…..and what it takes to KEEP it that way…..Paul takes the “textbook” look at interpreting the constitution……anyone can do that, man!!! The real world requires someone who can see the ENTIRE FOREST………..and please do not pretend to have an objective view of Rudy………the man is the ONLY candidate out there (not just this presidential race but EVERY presidential race since I was born in “63) who has massive, singularly attributable accomplishments that actually PROVE his ability to lead…….I don’t understand what happened to this country when people such as yourself (obviously educated) refuse to see the reality of what IS……and the urgency of having a proven leader in the White House…….are you KIDDING ME with Ron Paul???
Well put, tonydshaka.
I recommend just ignoring all comments made by RON PAUL SUPPORTERS IN ALL CAPS, ENCOURAGING US TO SPEND MONEY ON THEIR BLIMP OR OTHER SILLY IDEA.
Rudy is far more prepared to be president than anyone else on either side. The 9 day FL campaign will be very interesting…
Tonydshaka, there have been past election years when I would agree with you and vote for the proven leader with strong executive experience like Giuliani or Romney; someone who will sit effectively atop the massive machine that is the federal government and steer it along.
However, I’ve become pretty unhappy with the direction that the country and the Republican Party are taking of late. In the 20 years since Ronald Reagan, Republican candidates haven’t even been giving lip service to smaller government, and we seem to out-compete the Democrats to add one new expensive program after another, when we should be eliminating some of the bloated bureaucratic programs already in existence. Republicans no longer talk about preserving our liberties either, we ignore the warnings of Jefferson and Franklin that giving up liberty in the name of security will ultimately leave you with neither. Sure, 9/11 was a wake-up call, but in the time of Jefferson and Franklin we endured the American Revolution, the Whiskey Rebellion, the war with the Barbary Pirates, and a war with England without giving up all our rights.
So that’s why I support Ron Paul. True, he doesn’t have the leadership credentials of a Giuliani or a Romney, but there’s no sense having a strong Republican leader if he’s just going to lead us in the same direction as the Democrats.
GAME ON!!! This was the plan all along for Rudy and he couldn’t of scripted it any better. NO CLEAR LEADER. He wins Florida and he’s practically on top, he regains any exposure he might of lost and is prepared to march on. Obviously if he loses, he’s done. For this country to remain a dominant power and survive we need to STOP terrorism, RUDY knows how to secure this country. Wake up people, the economy, health care and whatever won’t matter if we let the terrorists continue their assault on us and our interests….WHY????? because we will all be dead……… Thomson would make an awesome president also, if not Rudy, hopefully he can win Florida but I doubt it.
Mitt is the best choice for president!!! Strong on Economics, strong on Immigration, strong on terrorism and most of all he is an outsider who has successfully turned around many businesses and well as made significant changes to Democratic Mass.
GO ROMNEY!!!!
It’s obvious to any objective voter with half a brain that Ron Paul is brilliant but just not ELECTABLE…not fair, but just the way it is. On the other hand, Rudy is NOT electable NOR CAPABLE.
His strongest assest?….streching the truth. Try to keep up with Giuliani’s shameless, ridiculous exaggerations…he can barely go a day without repeating some whopper that’s obviously untrue (check the fact check sites).
The republicans (and the nation) have suffered from that type of mentality/personality for the past several years…why on God’s honest earth would anyone in their RIGHT mind, want more of that??
Rudy may be a good person when it comes to getting things in government done but his moral stands are sickning. Pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, makes him pro Satan in many Christian homes. Hate him, know, just know they can’t and won’t vote for him if he won the republican nomination. Yes the democratas are worse, conservatives are just tired of choosing the lesser of two evils. Just look what happend to the senate and house last election cycle. Knowing that what the democrats are puting out is even worse, won’t make them vote for the murder of the unborn republican! Abortion can be the deciding factor in this election, if only pro-choice people had to watch a abortion, things would change!
No one is pro-abortion! Don’t you see on the face of it how silly that sounds?
What did Bush do on abortion that Rudy would undo?
And, there is no point focusing only on the unborn, when the born are under such a threat.
Between terrorism, a country slumping towards socialism, threatened by globalization, healthcare costs spiraling out of control, K-12 education the worse in the modern world, entitlement programs which will bankrupt the US, and on and on.
Rudy is the most prepared of all the candidates, and would transform America like he transformed NYC.
Remember the big picture!!!
Rudy has now almost completed
A race where he soon will be defeated
To him the job would be heaven
Noun, verb, nine-eleven
Seems he’s out before he ever competed.
That is a very cute poem
Written by a Paulbot with brains of a gnome
You can hope, and you can wish,
But do not underestimate the pain he will dish,
leaving opponents with mouths of foam.
These are just a few of the obvious reasons Romney is the most electable candidate for the Republican party.
1. We need his economic expertise and experience creating and holding jobs. He has real world experience dealing in today’s global marketplace. Without a strong economy, nothing else works. Romney is or best hope to grow our economy. Many people consider Romney an economic genius.
2. Romney has a history of asking the right questions, listening intently, evaluating carefully and decisively LEADING. He brings new vision, efficiency, and energy to every endeavor
3. Romney has impeccable integrity and high standards. He is absolutely trustworthy.
4. Romney stands firmly in support of our constitution. He supports states rights and individual rights. He is committed to the preservation of our freedoms.
5. Romney is strong on education. While his was governor, Massachusetts students ranked #l in the nation in education. He will encourage innovation in technology and research and development to find answers to the energy crisis. Romney is an exceedingly intelligent man and proven problem solver!
6. Romney is committed to a strong national defense. He will protect our borders and keep our nation safe. He is also an excellent negotiator.
7. Romney will work to ensure our laws are enforced, our borders are secure, and illegal immigration is controlled.
8. Romney is a self-made man who owes no one favors. He will bring fresh voices and new ideas to the table. Romney will bring dignity and respect to the office of President.
9. Romney is a committed family man. He supports socially conservative values and walks the walk in his personal life.
10. Romney has strong grass roots support all across the west. He is an excellent strategist and a winner.
America is on the road to reelecting the Clinton dynasty in ‘08. Please don’t let that happen. I, like many other fed up Democrats, am willing to vote Republican to keep the Clintons out of office. Conservatives: all we ask is that you offer a viable alternative. True conservatives like Fred and Huckabee are just as repulsive to us. And Rudy = Bush to us, sorry. We’ll take McCain or Romney. Ron Paul too, if he can explain his radical ideas thoroughly enough. Give us someone who will reach across the aisle sometimes, and you can have a Republican (or RINO) president in ‘09. Almost anything is better than a Clinton, right?
I wish people out there would have better memories,it seems they forget important issues, and dont look past the nose on their face.It is like I will only vote for the winner ( like this is american idol or something) people get a grip take time to look at the issues that are important to this country.Dont just take the word from someone else, put time into it,politics play a huge role in every aspect of our lives. You should look at all issues, economy, jobs & taxes,,judges that will be appointed both federal & supreme court ,the war, illegal immigration, border security, marriage, abortion, cloning, healthcare, trade with China & other countries and so much more. The point look at all the issues not just one. This election is so important do some digging listen closely and dont take for granted that what is getting printed in newspapers or the main stream media is right.Everyone has their own agendas & talking points. Then listen to that gut feeling you have.It is usually correct.Dont rule anyone out now it is to important. We all should know by now that polls can be wrong,be informed and then get out that vote.
Be naviee if you want. Keep ranting about Ron Paul. It’s down to McCain or Rudy. Whoever wins Florida will win it all. Rudy should be the GOP nominee. Here are the reasons why he is the best choice conservatives have:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/01/rudy_giuliani_should_be_gop_no.html
Please people of Florida vote for Rudy. Don’t wait do it today. The polls are open now!
For the record, I personally attended meetings down in Giuliani headquarters in lower Manhattan, months before Iowa. Their plan from the very beginning was to focus on Florida, and use it as a springboard. This idea that it’s been manufactured by Rudy and the media as a sort of “after the fact” spin is, well, it’s just wrong.
Now, the real question is, was Rudy right in adopting this approach? The reasoning behind it was to conserve resources, because the perceived main rival, Romney, had a bottomless well of money (his own) to use. As things turned out, the Huckabee phenomenom and McCain’s resurgence were simply not anticipated. On the one hand, this is helpful, because it has knocked Romney down; on the other, we now have a wide open race in Florida between FOUR (well, maybe just three) candidates! I feel that Rudy stands above, and separate from, these other politicians, who are busy trying to recast their histories in order to be more palatable to Republicans. Rudy hasn’t had to recast his history - he took NYC on his shoulders and made it great again - he served as a hero for the nation on 9/11 - and his record of tax-cutting and slashing government spending is second to none.
For me, there’s only been one candidate in the field that I would consider, and that’s Rudy. I’m looking for a fiscal conservative, a strong tax-cutting supply-sider, someone who hates wasteful government spending, someone who will stay on the offensive against Islamic terrorists, and someone who is a social moderate. Go ahead - review the field - the above criteria narrows it down to one choice - Rudy Giuliani. If you’re one of those “abortion above all” Republicans (Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin), well, I have little use for you. Roe v. Wade is NOT going to be overturned, even if it WAS nothing but legislating from the bench. Rudy will appoint strict constructionist judges, and that’s all that you can hope for.
If you’re looking for a candidate who keeps his promises, and has the steely will and determination needed to carry them out, Rudy’s your choice. If you want to know what he stands for, just visit: http://www.joinrudy2008.com/issues/. If you think the next 8 years is going to be business as usual in the U.S., well, go ahead and vote for curly, larry or moe (mccain, huckabee, and romney). If you think, as I do, that it’s going to a very bumpy ride, and we’re going to need a strong leader at the helm, vote Rudy.
Thanks for listening. (If you’re already a Rudy supporter, what are you doing reading MY post? Go respond to somebody else’s post, or make some calls!) ; )
And one more thing - in 1995, the City of New York had this big function at Lincoln Center for various foreign dignitaries. Guess who decided to crash the party? None other than your friend and mine, Yasser Arafat. Rudy was running the show, and do you know what he did? He ordered Yasser Arafat’s murduring terrorist butt to be thrown unceremoniously out the door!
As the New York Times reported: “But the Mayor, explaining his decision yesterday, called Mr. Arafat a murderer and terrorist, and said he was not impressed by the fact that Mr. Arafat had twice been invited to the White House to sign the Middle East peace accords, or that he shared the Nobel Peace Prize. ‘I would not invite Yasir Arafat to anything, anywhere, anytime, anyplace,’ Mr. Giuliani said at a news conference yesterday. ‘I don’t forget.’”
We won’t forget either, Rudy. You want one incident that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rudy should be our next president? Well, this is it.
Go Rudy!
mccain= war on terror ————absolutely no experience at anything else(except signing democratic bills) and no experience running a government !!!! romney and huckabee, both ran states but absolutely no foreign policy experience..the huckster doesnt even know where pakistan is located…..thats leaves giuliani=strong on the war on terror and ran a very successful fiscally conservative government in the largest city in the country !!!!! well, this choice seems like a no brainer !!!!!
Sorry Mr. Murdoch–The Ghoul is toast…
