Huckabee Points to McCain-Feingold “Disaster” as Obstacle to Stopping Push-Polls

Columbia, SC -

Mike Huckabee again denounced, and denied any connection between his campaign and a push-polling group, called Common Sense Issues ( as he has done since Iowa) that ostensibly supports Huckabee’s quest for the presidency.New calls connected to the group have reared their ugly head this past week, and have hit Huckabee’s   3 main GOP rivals: John McCain, Fred Thompson, and Mitt Romney, in South Carolina, and Nevada. In an interesting twist, however, Huckabee directly pointed to the McCain-Feingold legislation- famously, and obviously authored by McCain - as an obstacle to stopping push-polls.

”We’ve asked people to stop. You are aware that it’s illegal for us to make contact with a 527 “, Huckabee said at a presser last night. ” This is one of the problems with the McCain-Feingold act; it’s an absolute disaster. It’s created this whole flood of soft money that nobody really can say they’re in control of.”

A not-so-veiled hit obviously at his main competitor in the Palmetto state.

Huckabee campaign leadership have continuously denied any connection, nor coordination between the campaign and with CSI,that run Trusthuckabee.com, the direct source for the automated calls that assail Huckabee’s GOP opponents, and glowingly describe Huck, all under the guise of an authentic polling call.

As Carl Cameron has reported previously, Huckabee campaign manager Chip Saltsman and Patrick Davis, the head of TrustHuckabee.com, had worked together at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, but both say there is no collusion.

Huckabee is right (for once)!

The McCain/Feingold bill is a disaster.

So was McCain/Kennedy,

McCain voted AGAINST the Bush tax cuts (one of only 2 republicans to do so)

McCain was AGAINST a marriage ammendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

Folks McCain is part democrat!!! That’s why the liberal media wants him to be the nominee! In their opinion half a Republican is better than a whole one!

As far as Huckabee goes, this article says it all:

[...] calls McCain-Feingold bill “an absolute disaster,” blames it for automated attack phone [...]

This is not rocket science. The media is “making” McCain and Huckabee. The media knows neither can win a general election against Obama or Clinton, and that’s the way they want it.

Wake up, people.

OUR ECONOMY NEEDS ROMNEY! He is the only candidate with the expertise to create and hold jobs. Romney will bring new vision, efficiency and energy to government. He is a family man of the highest moral standards who has a history of stepping in to manage failing companies and turning them into successful ones! Without a strong economy, all else fails. PLEASE VOTE FOR ROMNEY!

Its too little too late to be critical of mcCain now. Since huck was buddy buddy with mccain and tag teaming up on romney in Iowa. It appears its coming back to haunt hucjk. “what comes around goes around”. I think huckabee did not take mcCain serious last month, but now mcCain is the national and south carolina front runner. Its amazing how things just backfire on people.

He has no control over these 527’s, because of McCain/Feingold. But he doesn’t seem to have much control over his own mouth, either. McCain, Thompson and Giuliani showed us the same in the debates and the Thompson whisper campaigners have been denigrating women to try and steer us to him all over the internet and radio. Get real.

ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!

Still this shows that Huckabee’s leadership is non-existant! “Now fellers, I ‘ve asked ya nicely to stop callin these folks.” Come on Huck, your budget depends on these people. Let me say it in yur langauge: ya ain’t got the money to go to much farther!

Huckabee carries a lot of baggage. And most of it has to do with economics. He instigated a tax on groceries in Arkansas. He raised their sales tax ONE whole cent in one bill. In spite of cries from the Republican party to cut back on spending…even some of the Democratic people in their state congress said they pushed them for higher taxes. But the biggest problem is his stance on the so-called Fair Tax. That would be the elimination of the IRS for a federal sales tax on alll goods and services. This tax is based on the assumption that the state government would handle all the collecting of this tax. That in of itself is a major problem. The federal government can not tell, ask or force a state to do anything. It is against our US Constitution. And he is running for president???? It gets worse but why go farther. Fox News why have you not brought this up in any of your debates?

Mitt Romney is a disaster. Bring jobs? Economy grow?

Mitt Romney lead his state to the 3rd WORST job growth IN THE NATION during his term!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mitt Romney had a pathetic economy and grew the tax burden on his economy 75% faster than Mike did year over year.

On average it increase 1% per year under huckabee over the prior year. Under Romney 1.75%…..75% faster.

Romney’s tax record here:
http://bradbeblogging.blogspot.com/2008/01/romney-rebuttal-enclosed.html

So Mitt Romney has a record as being an executive that lays people off, being a governor that comes almost at the bottom for creating jobs, and increasing the tax burden on his economy 75% faster than Huckabee.

Huckabee’s by far a better fiscal conservative. With slower increases this is what Huckabee did:

1) Rebuilt what trucker magazine called some of the worst roads in the nation to make them what the called “the most improved”
2) Reduced the number of uninsured children in the state from 29% to 19%.
3) And this is a big one, invested in the education system and brought the state from 49th in the nation to 8th. TO 8TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing Mitt Romney has shown me is that he can FLIP FLOP ON EVERY SINGLE SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE ISSUE, have a pathetic governing record, and spend money like water.

Look at his campaign spending. He spends campaign funds like water and he has little to show for it. Huckabee has done just as well, being effective and efficient with a fraction of the money. That is fiscal conservatism.

go mike! http://www.mikehuckabee.com

Are you kidding me?? If Governor Huckabee did not want push polls happening, they wouldn’t happen! This is straight from the playbook of Ed Rollins. In fact, he said in Iowa that they were going to have to turn nasty to win. This is something we should expect from Democrats, not Republicans, and especially not Republicans who have claimed to be “Christian leaders.” If the Governor won’t make these dirty, underhanded, sleazy tricks stop… then the voters of South Carolina should.

It sounds like McCain’s plan has backfired on himself. Quit blaming Huck. Huck called it right.

Huckabee is a gifted speaker and a likeable person.
Read interesting articles about him in: Plutarch’s Weblog and Judicial Watch Announces List.
Go Mike!

Don’t forget that Fred Thompson also promoted and voted for McCain/Feingold. He too is more Democrat than Republican. Fred Thompson also was one of the few Republican Senators that voted with the Democrats against the impeachment of Clinton. Even liberal minded John McCain voted with the Republicans. How can Thompson claim to be the true conservative?

Hey Huckabee (Hilter-a-bee)

If you can’t do anything about the Push-Pollers that are calling on behalf of you, then HOW could you ever control a whole country?
I know, maybe if you made another joke the economy would turn around. And then maybe if you played your guitar the war would end and then just maybe if you told another joke abortion would stop.
What ever were the rest of us thinking. All it takes is jokes……a long with a little blame!

Who is behind the push polling?

This article ran on RCP last week but nobody seemed to do any digging beyond Patrick Davis’s support for Fred Thompson.

Who’s behind th epush polling?”

Given that it’s only a few donations to Fred Thompson’s campaign, I’d look more in the direction of the guys who financed the Club for Growth hit pieces against Huckabee. I believe these guys are working for Romney, the only candidate who has shown no scruples about doing such nasty stuff.

I could go out and create a Website saying I support Barak Obama or Tom Tancredo — pick a candidate — and then say and do stuff that would make them look bad.

I like the comment that Patrick Davis woldn’t be going around bragging about doing these calls on Huckabee’s behalf if he really wanted to help Huckabee. Common sense says it’s not really a Huckabee group, but who’s is it?
