Romney in ‘68 and Romney in ‘08
Grand Rapids, MI–
Governor Romney often talks about his father, George Romney on the campaign trail. He was a three-term governor of Michigan and a 1968 presidential candidate. Since Romney has been campaigning in his home state of Michigan he has spoke of his father at almost every stop. This morning he campaigned at a high school, Grand Blanc High School, where he said his father also campaigned in ’68.
At a GOP Dinner this evening a man, Paul Thomas, who Romney identified as a person who worked on his father’s campaign gave him 250 buttons in “Romney Blue.” They are buttons that supporters would wear during George Romney’s presidential campaign. There was also one other item that the younger Romney doesn’t give out at his events, but maybe he should:
“The Romney hair has always been part of Romney campaigning. He gave me this comb and it has on here,” the presidential hopeful squinted to read the words printed on the comb, “Set our country straight. Romney in ’68.”
The presidential hopeful also said today that his father might help him with some Democrats in the polls tomorrow:
“I’m confident I’m going to do real well with Republicans. I’m confident I’ll do just fine and hopefully real well with independents. I don’t know how Democrats will vote in a Republican primary. That’s not something I’m terribly used to. I expect there will be some Democrats who say, ‘Gosh that Romney fella. Isn’t he related to George Romney and didn’t George Romney do a lot to try and to try and help our state?’ Maybe I can get some of those votes.”
Romney has predicted a win tomorrow in Michigan, but either way he says he will continue campaigning through Super Tuesday.

No other person has done so much in business on either side of the political aisle.
Mitt understands business and can help America in this time of crisis.
No spin. No hype, just truth. 25 years of success in the business world. period.
Mitt Romney has proved over and over again that he is the man for the job. He saved the 2002 Olympics (and by such saved the U.S a lot of Embarrassment) He has taken many national companies, including Staples, from the edge of bankruptcy to newfound success, saving hundreds, if not thousands of AMERICAN jobs in the process. The media and his opponents are so quick to knock him down or try to catch him at an off moment, because he has money. Since when did having money and being financially secure become a bad thing? If more people were as ambitious and successful as Gov Romney, we wouldnt need things like the welfare reform act…Welfare would instead only go to people who truely need it, not people who are lazy and have no desire to succeed.
I am excited about the prospect of someone like Romney becoming president. Michigan has the best candidate in the race! Go Mitt!!
I wish people picked their candidates like they would pick their brain surgeons. Someone who will get the job done right! Nobody in their right mind would turn down the best doctor in town to operate because of his/her church affiliation!! The predudice towards Mitt Romney because of his church is totally un-american and foolish!! Mitt Romney has absolutely the best resume to turn America around like everything else the man has ever touched! He had a list of all of his promises he made before he became govorner of MASS. and by the end of his term he accomplished every single one of them. If he does not get the nomination it will be because of America’s predudice agains Mormons, not about the abilities of Mitt Romney the leader. Graduating from York College of Pennsylvania I had wonderful professors that made me believe in that this country was a democracy where honest people voted from a perspective of what is best for the country not for what church a man goes to!!
