Romney goes to the Auto Show

Detroit, MI—

Governor Romney toured the Detroit Auto show today along with rivals Mike Huckabee and John McCain. He just missed them both by minutes (and feet). Huckabee was very close, but the much-anticipated meeting didn’t happen. Romney was the first candidate to enter the auto show and was therefore trailed by the most media. As one cameraman said to me as we were shut out of the media hoard, “This is when the political press meet the automotive press.”

Romney didn’t take any questions from the media during the tour. He was asked various questions including what kind of car would he be-if he was a car-instead of a presidential candidate. He responded, “Sorry, I can’t answer that.” He instead shook hands with the representatives from various American-made car companies including GM and Chrysler and looked at some of the models like the GM Fuel Cell which he held his media availability in front of.

Romney was positive during the press conference saying he is going to win the Michigan primary and even if he doesn’t he will press on:

“I really can’t forecast what’s going to happen: Republican, Democrat, Independent, but I do believe overall I’m going to win and one thing is for sure I’m not going to stop at the end of Michigan. Win or lose I’m going on to South Carolina, Nevada, and all the way to February 5th and hopefully beyond.”

He was also asked what kind of car he drives. Whether it was the strenuous campaigning or just his memory. He was unsure at first:

“Let’s see. I hope I’m accurate on this. I drive a Mustang that is about 3 yrs old. It was the first of the new model Mustangs. I can’t remember which year that was,” the former Massachusetts governor continued, “We have a Chevy Silverado pick up truck, it’s a diesel and oh I have what my sons gave me for my 60th birthday, a 1962 Rambler…I’ve had a foreign car or two in the mix over the years. I must admit I prefer American made cars for a lot of reasons.”

Romney is the best candidate to fix Michigan’s economy. He is the best candidate to help America’s economy and to keep us competitive internationally. This man is a genius and it helps that he has great values and an amazing family to prove it. He makes America proud.
