BET Founder Brings Up Obama’s Drug Use?

(Bob Johnson talks about Obama’s past — you decide what he means)

Billionaire Clinton backer Bob Johnson, who founded Black Entertainment Television, said he’s “a little bit insulted, if you will, by Senator Obama letting his campaign imply that Hillary Clinton does not revere what Martin Luther King did for African Americans.”

“I think that’s taking it way too far,” he said while campaigning with Clinton in South Carolina. “I think Barack understands clearly what the senator was saying.”

Johnson argued that when Clinton said it took action by President Lyndon Johnson to realize the dream of Martin Luther King, she was merely saying that moral change has to be written into law. “That is the way the legislative process works in this nation. And that takes political leadership,” he said.

Johnson said the controversy in the black community wouldn’t hurt Sen Clinton in South Carolina, and suggested it might actually hurt her chief rival. “Nobody believes either Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton would say anything that would denigrate either Barack Obama or Martin Luther King. And to me, what may happen is a backlash may occur when people see that Barack Obama is allowing his PR people to let out the notion that Hillary Clinton did not respect everything that Dr. Martin Luther King or any other person who faced the problems and the threats of being a part of the civil rights movement faced. “

“And to me, Barack knows better than that. And why he would let his people let that come out just shows to me either he’s not in control of what they’re saying, or he’s allowing them to say it knowing he’s wrong.”

UPDATE: Introducing Senator Clinton in Columbia, SC, Johnson seemed to reference Sen Obama’s past drug use while talking about the Clintons’ long experience in the civil rights movement. “As an African American, I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that I won’t say what he was doing that he said it in his book,” he said.

Obama admitted using drugs in his 1995 autobiography “Dreams From My Father.” A top New Hampshire adviser to the Clinton campaign was fired last month when he brought up that drug use in an interview.

Johnson continued, “to say these two people would denigrate the accomplishments of civil rights marchers… and to expect us to now say we are attacking a black man? I mean, that kind of campaign behavior does not resonate with me, for a guy who says ‘I wanna be a reasonable, likeable, Sidney Poitier ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’?’ I’m thinking to myself, ‘this ain’t a movie Sidney, this is real life!’”

Asked what Senator Clinton thought of a surrogate making a drug reference at one of her campaign events, Clinton Spokesman Jay Carson said “I don’t think that’s what he was referring to and her record on this issue is clear. She has made crystal clear to supporters and staff alike that no one should engage in negative personal campaigning.”

UPDATE 2: The Clinton campaign released a statement from Johnson disputing the media’s characterization of his remarks. “My comments today were referring to Barack Obama’s time spent as a community organizer, and nothing else. Any other suggestion is simply irresponsible and incorrect.

“When Hillary Clinton was in her twenties she worked to provide protections for abused and battered children and helped ensure that children with disabilities could attend public school.

That results oriented leadership — even as a young person — is the reason I am supporting Hillary Clinton.”

Hilary Clinton has clearly demonstrated with her Oscar “tears” performance in New Hampshire just to show a softer side as instructed that she will stop at nothing to attack Barack Obama.

Clinton is the past, she looks tired and weary, America needs to wake up and see that BARACK OBAMA can deliver CHANGE whatever Bob Johnson may think, a lot of us are tired of being ruled by Dynasty!

Comment by Mairhe

I have been an Obama supporter. Recent news, comments and learning more about his church (or is it more a cult?) worries me that maybe he has a different agenda. You are right I believe the African Americans are intellegent enough to see thru his attacks.

Comment by Janelle

Johnson just sounds ignorant here. Barack made a mistake with the drug use in his youth, and I’m sure Hillary has done some stupid things in her youth. Also, Obama cannot control what his people say any more than Hillary can control what her people say. Johnson was wrong on this, and I’m “insulted” by the way he’s choosing to spin it. Just let it go, and leave the candidates to debate the issues.

Comment by PS

Just like John Kerry in 2004, Senator Obama would be the weakest, or rather the best Democrat candidate to give away for another Republican run on the White House. Wake up, people, don’t buy the game of the Republican status quo!

PLEASE READ THIS!! Hillary is America’s best choice!

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all
your contacts…this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here
in our own United States…better heed this and pray about it and share it.
THIS DEFINITELY WARRANTS LOOKING INTO. THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED,
“ONE NATION UNDER GOD”. ALMIGHTY GOD, NOT THE GOD OF THE KORAN.

We checked this out on “snopes.com “. It is
factual. Check for yourself. Who is Barack Obama?
Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu , Hawaii , Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel , Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita , Kansas .
Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawaii . When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya . His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia . When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia . Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.
Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point
out that, “He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school.”
Obama’s political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama’s introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any
direct influence over his son’s education. Lolo Soetoro, the husband of Obama’s
mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim
terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States , Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran (Their equivalency to our Bible, but very different beliefs)
Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s expected presidential candidacy.
The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the U.S. from the inside out, what
better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States , one of their own!!!

We cannot survive a continuation of Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-… politics.
Do you really believe Bob Johnson, the billionaire founder of BET, has poor, working class people’s interests at heart.
This fairytale, freaking nightmare, must end.
Enough is enough!

“The Clintons have become simply too arrogant and self-serving and forgotten that their popularity was given to them by the American people, despite the many shortcomings that they, as all mortals, succumbed to. They need to remind themselves how blessed they really are instead of how entitled they should be with regards to the White House.”
— New York Times post by Nguyen Chau Giao

“The traditional Democratic party died long ago, and it is now neo-Dems with a greed for money and power. It stands for special interests: NAFTA to benefit corporate interests, Health Care Plans to benefit drug and insurance industries, Bankruptcy Act to benefit banking industry, Telecom Act of 1996 that lead to media consolidation, Authorization of wars to benefit defense-contract industries, and the lists go on….I am appalled….Clinton is shamelessly corrupt.
The Democratic party and the Republican party are controlled by corporate special interests. The two parties are actually tne large party with common goals of preserving self-interests that they have enjoyed for many years. ”

John B Sheffield:
First, I’d like you to show me exactly where she cried; there was no crying and especially no tears, as you state. Second, let’s pretend she flat out went into hysterical sobbing, how is that an attack on Obama? If anything, I think it would be ill-advised for any presidential candidate to appear weak and cry. So, why do it purposely? I think someone buys what the media is selling and needs to practice some independent thought.

Comment by Cathy

Frankly I am insulted that Johnson made the thinly veiled innuendo about Barama’s drug use. At least Obama had the honesty ( now there’s a word the Clinton’s could learn) to admit his use rather than saying he did not inhale. Just because the Clintons have supported African Americans in the past does not mean they did not minimize Dr. King’s role. LBJ NEVER would have passed those laws if Dr. King and Mrs. Parks and many others had not put the pressure on. To quote Bill Clinton “GIVE ME A BREAK!”

Comment by Don Slowik

I think it’s funny that Johnson blames the Obama campaign for the fact that a comment Hillary made might offend..

Comment by ex Hillary supporter

I am supposed to listen to Bob Johnson who founded the most misogynistic network on television ever. BET is a station that caters to black ignorance and with these comments he is standing center stage.

Comment by Nixon Benoit

I could not believe that Hillary Clinton said the following: “Dr. King’s dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. It took a president to get it done.”
This is totally unacceptable for Hillary Clinton to say. Black people across the nation should demand an official apology from her. She covers herself under the umbrella of the Democratic Party to gain African American support, and votes. However, she does not represent the party ideology. I am afraid that she is just a hypocrite and an opportunist who fooled the black community in the past. I am afraid that was clearly a racist comment. She was right when she said that she found her voice in New Hampshire thereafter. She does not even have a modicum of restraint for our most respectable hero - A man who gave his life for the freedom of back people. I could not believe that she said the following: “Dr. King’s dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. It took a president to get it done.”
Not only she is going to loose the votes of the black people in South Carolina, but also she is going to loose the black votes across the nation. The last time I remember checking the official US census, Black people account for about 12.8% of the population

Comment by Tony

Obama needs to stop playing the race card and run on his record. As an African-American I find the spin from his campaign pathetic and insulting. Every time someone questions his record, or comments it’s a racial slur. Obama is not the new Messiah, and he should stop acting like it.

Comment by alexanderc

Maybe he should stick to music videos. Many prominent African-Americans took offense to that comment, who are entitled to their own opinions. You can buy and sell Hillary, so a Billionare coming out like this doesn’t surprise me. Obama didn’t put a spin on it, Respectable black leaders raised that issue because they had a problem with it. Johnsons comments are a real stab at the leaders in the community to write their concerns off as spin, and insinuating that they are puppets who do not have their own opinions.

Comment by Bonnie

Obama likens himself to MLK. MLK produced change. What has Obama done that is anyway similar to MLK other than TALK? Where in his record does it show accomplishments anywhere near similar to MLK? Start researcher Obama before you think he should be President. Talking about change and bringing having a record of bringing about change are entirely DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Cathy

OMG!!! PLEASE READ THIS!!
Ashley above is spewing the same Obama is a Muslim crap that at least two Clinton staff members have lost their jobs for. This is what the Clintons will do to get elected. This is mudslinging and character assassignation in the extreme. I wonder Ashley are you a Clinton staffer too?

Comment by Sheila B

ok..this is ridiculous. I have not read, seen or heard anything that would suggest the Obama camp is fueling the “fairy tale” or “MLK” remarks. The Clinton’s need to stand by what they said and explain it if necessary instead of trying to tie it around Barack Obama’s neck. These people are willing to win at any cost. Bob Johnson is a joke to me in the African American community. Like big money and big business he has only done what was best for Bob Johnson. His former network BET could have been really instrumental is shaping the youth of black America. The images and demigogery on that network has almost single handedly brought down an entire generation. His words are empty to me. As a proud Black American I would not vote for Hillary Clinton if she is the nominee. I would either sit out the election or vote republican!!!!

Comment by HAS

Notwithstanding that the Obama campaign has nothing to do with the insult that the SC black community felt in response to both Clintons’ statements, what is truly insulting is that the Clintons would belittle Obama’s talents and inspirational leadership skills. On Meet the Press this morning, Hillary continued to perpetrate the falsehood that Obama is all words and no action–as if to imply that he’s done nothing in his career but talk. The statement is patently false and appears to spring from the fact that because Hillary lacks the natural leadership skills that Obama possesses in spades, she is trying to mislead voters into accepting as true that because Obama is a natural leader, he must lack substance. Talk about insulting.

Comment by Shirley Stewart

The race card being played by Barack Obama is pathetic. To dare to accuse democrats that have strongly supported the black community is unconscionable. Face the honest truth, there are many who will not vote for Hillary because she is a woman, there are many that will not vote for Obama because he is black, and on and on for every candidate. It’s the reality of life and pointing fingers and whining that every little thing is because he is black is going to shoot down his campaign faster than anything any one else can do. What it does is show me that Barack wants to stop ANY criticism and thinks that if he cries ” racism” everyone will walk on eggshells around him. It’s time for Obama to grow up and stand on his record as a man and if he can dish it out he ought to be man enough to take it. It seems that he wants people to vote for him because he is black. isn’t that racist?

Comment by RYan

Ashley, you are a incorrect. If you actually check snopes it refutes every one of those statements. Check it out for yourself:

To Ashley - wow - it is not Obama’s Muslim background that scares me but people like you that equate anything Muslim with being bad. Have you actually read the Koran? Have you actually spoken to a Muslim? I’d rather have a President that had some exposure to another religion than another Christian moron like our current president who believes that sending thousands of our young men in an unnecessary dead is a Christian thing to do.

Obama Trinity United Church of Christ, an African-American mega-church unorthodox pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright describing the September 11 attacks as a “wake-up call” to America for ignoring the concerns of “people of colour”, and for claiming that Americans “believe in white supremacy and black inferiority . . . more than we believe in God”. Wright travelled to meet Muammar Gadaffi, the Libyan leader, in the 1980s with Louis Farrakhan, the black supremacist leader of the Nation of Islam, and subscribes to the “Black Values System”, which preaches self-reliance but claims “middle-classness” is ensnaring blacks. Reverend Jeremiah Wright went to Tripoli to visit Colonel Gadaffi with Farrakhan., The arguement that Obama offers white voters a chance to free themselves from white guilt, is continuing to create a negative race issue..

Wonder how long it will take Fox News to take down the libelous and defamatory comment by “Ashley”, which in fact has been discredited by Snopes - look it up.

Beside the fact that it has nothing to do with the story.

Bill Clinton didn’t inhale and Barack Obama dabbled with common street drugs. Old news, big deal, get over it and move on. It is so irrelevant in this day and age that most voters are going to reject it. We didn’t believe Clinton and didn’t care, why is this an issue?

I know more about the candidates personal lives than I care to, at this point.

Johnson is just playing politics and just slinging some dirt, something that the Clinton campaign keeps trying to do but holds in check because Obama is serious about not going down that path. It’s going to get uglier, but who’s going to lob the biggest poopoo in the punch bowl? My money is on the Clinton folks.

Comment by Jennifer

First off let me just say that that the post entitled “PLEASE READ THIS!! Hillary is America’s best choice!” is absurd! It is a willful and deliberate misrepresentation of the facts. I don’t know who is behind these baseless accusations but it is evident that the culprits have no dignity or integrity about them.

Now concerning Mr. Johnson. I am disappointed by how he’s handled his self in this situation. Choosing your own candidate is your constitutional right, but please, Mr. Johnson…spare us the mudslinging. It is interesting to me how blacks always refer to the Clintons as the closest thing we’ve ever had to a black president. Now blacks actually have a chance to elect a black president, but some would rather opt for the outdated substitution. That’s like buying fake Gucci or Louis for the price of the real thing. Obama is hands down the best choice for blacks because HE IS BLACK …Period!!! How can someone that doesn’t know anything about you or your struggles make decisions for you in your best interest?

Finally, I wouldn’t vote for Hillary even if she won the nomination. Over half of the American people feel the same.

Ashly,

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get out of the swift boat, you may hurt yourself.

All lies and misinformation.

Are you that afraid of Obama that you can’t beat him with the truth? Oh that’s right, truth is optional for the Repubs. You guys create your own realities.

What would Jesus say about that?

All this stuff is pretty sad for anyone alive and alert (no drug jokes, please, this is serious stuff) during the 60s. It took a combination of people of all colors (especially the white majority) to create the massive shift in attitudes and changes in the heart inspired by Dr. King and so many others. People of all colors lost their lives in this fight. Dr. King, in his amazing “I have a dream…” speech, mentions all those colors on the faces of America. His dream is for all of us and cannot be claimed by one group. Dr. King, who followed the teachings of Mahatma Ghandi, would affirm this. Let’s not distort his legacy or his words. And, yes, let’s give Lyndon Johnson much credit for bringing about the passage of the Civil Rights Act. Also for programs like Head Start. He has been much maligned over the tragic Vietnam War, but he was first and foremost a dynamite legislator. And do give a little credit to Attorney General Robert Kennedy and the Justice Department in those years. These “white people” may have bungled some things and gone astray in other ways but their commitment to civil rights for all of us, all colors, cannot be ignored. These imperfect (and white) politicians/leaders were pioneering places unknown in those days. I am only 56 years old and so much has changed in my lifetime. Hopefully more good changes will be in our future. Let’s stop fighting each other over these things. Take a day of quiet and explore our recent history. It is an amazing change. If we can change those attitudes, we can change anything!

Mr. Johnson is waaaaaaay out of line for what he said! Obama is the best hope for America. Under no circumstance will I vote for Hellary! Let’s Go OBAMA!!!!

It’s time the media started putting Obama under the same scrutiny as all the other candidates running for president. Obama should not get a free ride; just because the media fears questioning him will insult African Americans.
He is running for the most powerful office in the world, as such he should be treated like everyone else running for the position.

Comment by clintonion rule

I do see it as a slap in the face of the civil rights movement.
LBJ wouldnt have done anything if it wasnt the voices of millions who demonstrated peacefully that martin luthor king inspired. And bill clinton really shouldnt say another word about OBama beig a fairytell. At least obama isnt lying or distorting perceptions about him ..Its the clintons who are saying he is a drug dealer practicing wahabi radical islamist. Please he was 8 years old when he went to that school in indonesia. It was said at that school religon was not the dominant conversation it was studies. And barack was commited even wihtout a father his mother pushed him to study when must parents would have gave up living in poverty. Obama belives in jesus teachings he understands world views more than anyone. The rest of the world is hoping for this type of change to lead the world. A vote for hillary is a vote for lies deception and most likely a defeat in to the republicans. If she wins the nomination and barack is not on the ticket i and millions of voters will not suport her.

Comment by tiredOfBickering

Mr BET…this is your chance to stand and help greatness. Why did Hillary make her statement about President Johnson being the one to “make things happen”. Was it a compliment of sorts to anyone? What was her point?

It is extremely clear that her point is that Obama is to Dr. King as She is to Pres. Johnson.

Guess what??? Obama can be both the King and the Johnson in one. SEE AND SUPPORT THAT!

Just because you’ve supported Clinton before doesn’t mean that you have to turn away from greater possibilities in Obama.

Unfortunately for Hillary, she’s running against the first African-American President of the United States of America, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama.

You still have time to move past your phase of denial…and do what’s best for the USA.

Comment by Im Not Jose

You remember that scene from Liar Liar, where Jim Carrey is beating himself up? That’s what the Clintons are doing at the moment. Obama has never said anything regarding whatever comment Hillary made. She’s gone and said it herself, and then turned around to Obama saying, “excuuuze me, what did you say?” She’s trying to get him on the defensive and it’s sleezy and this is why I would vote for Obama. Old dog-eat-dog politics out… it’s time that working in the public office means something respectable.

Comment by Don Slowik

The way I understand this, Hillary made a mistake by saying something that could, legitamately, be construed by some to be racist. This happens. But, she should have appoligized for that possible interpretation and then moved on. That she instead twisted/spun it into the fault of the Obama campaign’s playing the race card is another example that she is a divisive figure in politics. America does not need that. We need a unifying leader.

Bob Johnson is a billionaire , a corporate figure, Obama talks about changing the country by also making sure they no longer control those in power, so is it surprising that Bob Johnson is against Obama, this kind of politics has to stop. Guess what if Clinton becomes the president she has to pay back her backers and that include the Johnsons.

There is this talk about what the Clintons have done for African Americans , yet there is no talk about how we single handedly return him to the white house for his second term, check the facts we basically made him not lose his second term so he was perhaps only returning the favor, or are we now going to be forever voting the Clintons.

Have you forgotten the 1992 Rev Jesse episode involving the Clinton so fast?

Johnson has a reason for blaming Obama for the Clintons’ mistakes. He profited handsomely when they were in power. I didn’t expect him to behave differently. It’s all about money.I can bet you he would livid, marching his behind all over the place if the same racist comments came from Republicans. His hypocrisy is hilarious.

Comment by bobbie

Bob Johnson is right. The Obama campaign must not pretend to be “offended” by discussion of the difference between “vision” and “action,” which is what the comparison of MLK with LBJ is really about. Also, for them to claim that any discussion of Obama’s past that’s less than glowingly supportive — such as his youthful drug use — is “racist” will quickly divide this country in a very ugly sort of way. Especially ironic in a candidate who rhetoric includes a “vision” of bringing us together.

Martin dream of equality is still being fulfilled now. Who would have believed an African American man would be the race for president of the USA. You can’t look for fruit until its season. The leaves are green the weather is right; I can feel the change a coming. Obama 08!

Comment by ILostRespectforHRC

Ok, I am deeply sadden that Jon Johnson is buying into this issue. First of all, Barack Obama OR HIS CAMP never said called Hillary Clinton is racist. The reason why this issue about MLK got out of hand is because a large majority of the black community was upset about the comment that Hillary made about MLK. This DID NOT COME FROM THE OBAMA CAMP!!! If anyone who is really following politics they know that Barack Obama has mastered not bring up the race issue, mainly because of Hillary Clinton ability to flip things on him. I also find it funny that when Hillary plays the gender card Barack Obama or the media never attacks her but, when Barack Obama allegely is “playing the race card” everyone is attacking him. WAKE UP PEOPLE HILLARY CLINTON IS TRYING TO TAKE THE HEAT OFF OF HER!!! I don’t think that Hillary is a racist, but I do think that Hillary should have corrected her statement about MLK and ENDDED IT RIGHT THERE. INSTEAD SHE TIRED TO BLAME BARACK OBAMA. I AM COMPLETELY TURNED OFF BY THIS WOMAN AND I PRAY THAT AMERICA WILL WAKE UP TO HER GAMES.

Leave it to Hillary to trot out the black folks with money to do her dirty work. Isn’t her strategy to let her “people” criticize Obama for going negative hypocritical? The press will never let her lose the nomination to Obama. They have too much invested. I maintain even if Obama had won New Hampshire and Hillary finished second, the media would have called it a “comeback” just like Bill did in ‘92. And how can Bill’s second place finish in ‘92 be a comeback? Does it not stand to reason that a comeback should involve a victory? It just shows how the establishment had Bill picked as its candidate and would stop at nothing to make sure he got elected. The same people are lined up behind Hillary. I refuse to believe the American people will vote in majority numbers, or in a significant number, for this person.

I am sorry to crush the dreams of all Obama supporters, but change won’t happen…
Those evil forces that captured control of our government, since Reagan left the White House, won’t let any change get close to it.
They are now gathering all their corrupt and criminal economic forces to crush any resistance and to perpetuate themselves forever in power.
They destroyed our Forefathers Ideals and stepped on our Constitution. They destroyed US leadership on the World and made us look like a pathetic joke within the nations. With their scandals and corruption, with their impeachment processes, with their economic mismanagement they brought us to where we are now: on the verge of the economic and political chaos.
Obama is gone, they destroyed him. McCain is the last hope, but I don’t think he will survive to all the corruption and dirt of our actual politics. The evil minions of the Clinton dynasty will find a way to destroy him as well.
So, that is why many Americans are leaving this country, because there is no hope anymore. They won, they killed our beloved America.
I am leaving as well. Another American exilee going to Europe.

If this becomes a Black verus White campaign, guess who loses? Do the math. Let’s examine the facts, and demand that all candidates fight for our votes. Do not let the press, and candidates takes our community for granted. We need to demand that all the candidates speak to our community’s and country’d issues. The press is saying that all Black people will vote for the Black candidate. We know that is not true. This is a challenge to our intelligence, and a discredit to Senator Obama.

Bob Johnson… Is this the same sell out brother who helped minstralize BET before he sold it for big $$$ even though black people struggle to control thier own image and struggle have access to reliable information and mainstream media doesn’t readily put out there .

THIS BROTHER IS NO EXAMPLE OF A CIVIL RIGHTS CONSCIOUSNESS…..He’s a greedy money maker, not a civil rights leader. I would take his comments with a grain of salt… maybe even through the salt in his face for blowing a historic opportunity… Unlike what OBAMA appears to be trying to avoid.

Not to worry, evetually ALL America will come to realize just wo Hillary is. She has reinvented herself to often, I don’t think she herself really knows who she is. Let the Clinton “followers” spew their poison, it will not stick. Hillary has not changed; she is still the deceitful person she was while in the White House. Their years in the White House were filled with scandal after scandal, deceipt, outright lies, coverups, investigations, more scandals, more coverups. Plus they stole artifacts from the White House when they left. They brought shame, disgrace, and embarrassment to the Office of the Presidency, our nation, and our people. Furthermore, if the Clintons and their supporters want to keep bringing drugs into the picture, they need to look at the drug trafficking in Mena, Arkansas, while Bill Clinton was governor. He was in the middle of this and drug money was laundered through the Rose Firm where Hillary worked. There were about 50 people associated with the Clintons that mysteriously met their demise, a lot of these people were ready to testify or had testified against Clinton and the Rose Firm. Check out “The Clinton Chronicles” video on the web.

what did the clintons ever do for the black race-could anyone name one substantial thing?

Now I see what people mean by the clinton machine. It is amazing to see it at work. Make her opponent’s strength his weakness. Honestly the clintons will do and say anything to get elected. Martin Luther King should be greatful that LBJ had the passion to take up the negro cause. Speaking of MLK, does anyone believe if he were alive today that MLK could get the dem nomination since he has no “executive experience”. And what exactly is Hillary’s “35 years of experience”?? She has only been an elected official for 6 yrs as a senator. Her other experience she was not elected and was there for not held accountable for any actions she may have taken.

For the people that are voting for hilary because she is female should take note that there are (16) senators and ( 8) governors that are FEMALE currently serving this country. I am sure they will have their time to shine. In case you are wondering there have only been 5 black senators (barack is the only one currently serving) and 2 governors in the history of the US.

For people voting for Barack because he is black is a mistake. FYI - Alan Keyes (a black man) is running for president on the Republican side. People should listen to barack’s message of building a working majority to get things done in washington to clinton’s turn up the heat on the republicans. hillary already is disliked by 50% of possible voters. So how in the world would she get anything passed as president?? I do believe she can win the presidency but nothing will get accomplished.

Bob Johnson’s comments are a joke. BET got rid of every political conscious programming in favor of booty shaking and gangsta rap videos. I bet the majority of viewers that watch BET don’t realize Tavis Smiley show was cancelled on BET.

what was not accurate about obama? everything posted was in fact very accurate. obama is not what we need today or tomorrow. has nothing to do with race, but everything to do with what America stands for. Alan Keyes would have been much better than Obama, but for some reason Oprah didn’t call him back. So those of you who always talk about race whenever someone points out his record, but what about whenever anyone points out Hillary’s record you don’t hear anyone say anything about gender. That is what politics are all about, and if Obama can’t that heat then obviously he is too weak. whenever she was calling him out at the NH debate he changed the topic to make it look like she was attacking him personally when all she was doing was wanting to know where he stood now, b/c “CHANGE” is all he does. and what ARE WE talking about mlk for, i thought this was a presidential race? obama is nothing like mlk. other than the color of his skin, but i thought it wasn’t about race, once again what are we talking about race for? EXPERIENCE IS WHAT WE NEED TO BE TALKING ABOUT!

Poor Bob Johnson, when he was approached about sending more positive messages to the Black community via BET, he felt that was not in his business interest. Now that’s he gotten rich off the backs of many ill-informed Black people, he’s stumping for a woman whose comments off and on throughout this campaign have shown how much she’s willing to play the race card.

He can say what he wants, really, since his billions gives him the option pack up and move to Dubai if he wanted to. But the rest of us cannot.

If you think people don’t see what the Clintons are doing, you’re wrong. Speaking for the descendants of those who actually bled and died for Civil Rights, spent long hours in cotton/tobacco fields for pennies, worked for pennies in the same houses that their slave forebears worked and even after getting an education, had to deal with next level racism - we see what you all are doing Massa and Mrs. Clinton. It’s too bad one of their house negros - Bob Johnson - can’t see it.

In the bipartisan battle of “experience” vs. “change,” one thing seems clear: There is no shortage of experience in Washington. If Washington experience came in dozens, it would be a dime a dozen. Washington experience is what led us into the foreign and domestic mess we’re in today. What we are short of in Washington is fresh ideas and unifying vision. Put a president with these in the White House, and all that Washington experience can be put to work taking America in a new direction. This is why I support Barack Obama for president.

Bob Johnson is just another one of the older Black businessmen who benefitted from the CIVIL RIGHTS era of the 50-70’s. It’s programs trained people like him how to get over on the system and wisely, he allied himself with politicians like the Clintons, who have been in cahoots with useless so called black leaders for decades. That is why he has the nerve to outright spin the truth on the Clintons’ statements. No one is playing the reace card. Were the comments not made??? It is a form of SELF survival for people like Johnson to have the Clintons back in office and so it should not be surprising that the man is criticizing Obama. If he really cared about black people he would never have promotted the Bulls#$%T music videos and brainless garbage on his network. He is culpable in adding to the negative perception in the media and lack of self worth of young black people. Bob Johnson, like many old, bitter and/or minimally educated voters(those who are backing the Clintons) are in a “me, me, me” mentality that has run rampant in the past 20 years. It’s time to pass the torch. Obama is like the young people of today and is not polarizing or devisive, unlike the “Black Establishment” and the OLDER DEMS and GOP. The Civil Rights certainly allowed predators into the politico who never cared about the rights for the poor, minorities and women) and now that those beneficiaries are in jeopardy of losing power (Andrew Young) they are chastising Mr Obama. I do believe the Clintons genuinely are not racist, but they are yesterday and people don’t need another 4 years of suicides, mysterious deaths, financial impropriety, secret records, pardons to campaign contributors, etc. It’s time to bring someone to the WH who is not embedded in the “Establishment”.

There are a few things I’d like to comment on here.

1) The MLK comments were not further perpetuated by the Obama campaign; rather, this is something that that Mrs. Clinton said, and the media (rightfully) picked up on this. To quote Obama himself, to suggest that he has anything to do with spinning this or using these words against her is simply “ludicrous.” Clinton needs to own up to the fact that this was indeed her own doing and she owes an explanation instead of twisting her words around here to create blame on an entity removed from the situation. It seems to me that the Obama campaign wisely stayed away from this issue specifically for the reason that it would warrant unwanted criticisms or attention on his part and that she can dig herself out of her own grave on that one.

2) Obama is playing the race card? I cannot think of many — or any, really — instances where he is using the race card, but I can think of MANY instances where Hillary uses the gender card. Even with the hecklers as a tool in NH (most likely planted given her history and propensity for plants but irrelevant to this argument), she made sure that people knew about the glass ceiling, how a woman president constitutes change, and various other plays on gender. Even when she made her comments today about how neither should really play the race or gender card, she just HAD to preface it with “[Y]ou have a woman running to break the highest and hardest glass ceiling. I don’t think either of us want to inject race or gender into his campaign.”

3) Ashley, as other posters have pointed out, you are mistaken here. However, the Clinton campaign is certainly glad to perpetuate these lies, just as her other cheap shots, to utilize fear as a tool to her campaign. Similarly, the website hillaryis44.org is a deeply disturbing look into her war room, where you know that all sorts of negative things are being cooked up to use against Obama. I don’t see a similar arsenal for the Obama or Edwards campaign, and there’s certainly a lot of dirt on Hillary. Instead, they choose to take the high road and stay away from negative politics unless necessary. Unfortunately, the Clinton campaign will instinctively reach to their dirty bag of tricks to win the vote no matter how it’s achieved.

I’m tired of the dirty politics. I’m tired of the dynasties. It’s time for change.

I have disliked Hillary for a while now. However, after I read today that she has suggested that the Obama campaign is involved with pushing the story about her MLK comments (followed by reading about her “chips and guacamole” analogy speaking to a group of Hispanics), I am thoroughly convinced that she is all about playing games and will say anything to anyone as long as it gets her elected. As far as I’m concerned, the means do not justify the ends, and I believe (or at least hope) America is finally waking up to this. After the past week and seeing the various events unfold, I’ve decided that if Hillary does indeed get the Democratic nomination, I will either be voting Republican (ideally McCain) or sitting out on this one.

So Hilary is the best choice… i think Obama is a very good man and would love to see him as vp, but hilary helped run the white house for 8 years. you know she called the shots. But not only that her stand on global warming is a strong one and if you caught the wanring the UN sent out. If we dont cut carbom emmissions by 2015 we have some very harsh realities coming. Like 40% of species becoming extinct. And its going to happen in a matter of generations. But not only that she continually out shines in debate and will glady say she doesnt know when she doesn tknow. but guess what then she goes and learns about it. If you really want change lets get a woman in the White house. PEACE

Man. I’m still trying to figure out why I (or anybody else) should give a rat’s nasty that some billionaire is insulted. Even if the guy wasn’t putting a foolishly obvious spin on the deal … I still wouldn’t care what he thinks. Let him go count his money. The rest of us poor folks need a POTUS for us. We’ve about stood all we can stand of the ones who are for the rich and big business.

I voted for Bill Clinton. I will not vote for his wife. I don’t trust her any further than I can throw my house.

I agree with the guy that said that change won’t happen. The corrupt and criminal Clinton clan won’t let it happen. They are using all their dirty tricks now.
They are evil, they are corrupt, they destroyed our country economy with their heavy expenditure, and all the waste of money, when they were at the White House. Then, after they left we entered on a war, so there was no way to recover our country finances from the Clinton era of corruption and mismanagement.
Now we see the results of the Clinton crimes: we are entering on the one that probably is going to be the worst economic depression on the history of the United States, because this time the world has China and Europe and doesn’t need us anymore, so they will just let us die.
And they still want us to bring those criminals back to DC???? Not me, I won’t. But they broke our spirit, and even if I go and vote against the Clinton criminal mafia, others will still vote for them like sheep going to holocaust…
So, there is no hope for our country anymore. The Clinton Dynasty destroyed it.
