Senator Barack Obama apologized to Las Vegas voters last night at his town hall meeting that he wouldn’t be able to answer every question because he had to get to the airport to fly back to Chicago. “I’ve got one hour before I’ve got to get to the airport, because my pilots - they get cut off. They can’t fly out. In which case I’m in big trouble with my wife, because I’ve got to be home to be able to do something with the kids tomorrow,” he explained.

About an hour after he began speaking, the senator left the Las Vegas high school in time to hope his charter jet en route to Chicago’s Midway Airport with senior staffers and his Secret Service detail. The Gulfstream landed in Chicago in the wee hours of the morning, and as the plane taxied to park, the Obama jet touched the wing of a near-by parked Cessna. No one was hurt and according to the campaign, neither Senator Obama nor his staff even noticed that the incident occurred.

And from Elizabeth Isham Corey, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration:

“There was an incident at Midway airport at 2:30am on Saturday morning when a Gulfstream 2 taxiing to park at Midway touched wings with a parked Cessna 208. The left wing of the Gulf hit the right wing of the Cessna, there was nobody on the Cessna and there were no reported injuries on the Gulfstream. The plane, the Gulfstream, was taxiing under its own direction, it was no longer under FAA air traffic control direction. The FAA is investigating, the National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation. These investigations typically take a few months or weeks.”
