Media Hordes Engulf McCain
by Malini Bawa
As John McCain’s poll numbers climbed in the last days before the New Hampshire primary, media mobs descended on his campaign.
TV cameras, bloggers, snappers and scribes completely encircled him, pushing shoving and elbowing for room.
Here’s a look at a couple of recent McCain campaign events. Check out Fox’s Brian Wilson wading into the crowd in Nashua, New Hampshire, trying to get a live interview with the Senator.

That’s awesome. It’s like a rock concert. McCain deserves that kind of attention. I just don’t want him to be President! Brian Wilson sure has an advantage over the crowd, pardon the pun. Poor camera guy, though! How much does that camera weigh, anyway?
One should wonder why so many people up-play McCain and downplay Romney - Especially the more Liberal run Media…..rarely do they talk negative about as they try to do with Romney….something is not right with this picture.
John “100 years in Iraq” McCain is getting a surge in NH? It’s truly unbelievable.
John McCain believes it may be necessary to stay 100 years on Iraqi soil with our weapons raised. Strangely, borrowing a trillion dollars from China does not appear to be a concern of his. When does it become a concern I wonder? Ron Paul, a respected veteran in his own right, has a decidedly different view. I am voting Ron Paul, a man who will fight for us. Dr. Ron Paul is a man of honor who served as a flight surgeon during the Vietnam War. He risked life and limb and his quick thinking and bravery saved countless lives in the heat of battle. We should all thank him for that regardless of our politics. God Bless You Dr. Paul.
On the GOP side, only Dr. Ron Paul had the courage to speak out against the illegal, unnecessary Iraqi war that has devastated the citizenry (According to Lancet Medical Journal 500,000+ innocent Iraqi civilians have been killed; half of Iraq is under 15 years old) and is playing a big part in destroying our economy and currency. job. He supported hunting Bin Laden down and going into Afghanistan to bring his carcass to justice but not the bombing and rebuilding of Iraqi bridges to protect our oil. The Iraqis did not attack us on that horrific day. The attackers were mostly Saudi nationals. More troops support Ron Paul than any other candidate. Does it matter what they think or are Iraqis more important?

I am surprised that Brian Williams doesn’t do like Bill O’Reilly did and start shoving people out of the way and cursing at the people that do not move. Isn’t that Fox SOP?

McCain voted against the Bush Tax cuts, and also the nation several months ago voted agaist his Illegal Immigration plan! Where are the conseveratives? Mitt Romney has the most delegates, won fox news debate on Sunday, and he has the best chance of defeating Obama in November. I pray that the American people will wake up and see what is happening here. Romney brings fresh ideas to the table and knows how to turn around our economy. Michigans primary is next Tuesday and he has Mitt Romney has my vote!
No one in these forums has defined “change”, but toss the term around as if it’s universally understood. Be careful what you think you want in terms of political change, and be cognizant of what your candidate’s definition of change is.
I’m not committed to a candidate yet, but recommend to this forum, reading Rudy’s 12 Commitments and Fred’s Principles. Compare them to what the others’ vision for America is and decide intelligently - not emotionally.

I am glad to see so many people participating in the democratic process this year. It is a difficult and divisive time and I am very pleased to be hearing about the record crowds.
Regarding Sen. John McCain, he is the only true fiscal conservative in the race. He was one of only two Republican’s that voted against the Bush tax cuts. This is true, but what Gov. Romney’s ad doesn’t tell you is that Sen. McCain voted this way because he was insisting that spending limits be included as well. He feared wasteful and unnecessary government spending that would eventually lead to deficit spending. He foresaw our deficit crisis and didn’t bow to political pressure. Real fiscal conservatives don’t just cut taxes, they cut taxes and wasteful government spending.
On Iraq, once again with his straight talk, he predicted the initial strategy was going to fail. He pointed out lack of formal goals, lack of chain of command regarding the rebuilding phase and most importantly, the inadequate troop levels needed to provide security needed to allow for political reconciliation. once again, he came under fire from both Democrats and Republican’s alike. In the end, his comments were prophetic and now we are finally moving in a positive direction in Iraq. One little known fact, the Senator’s son is serving in Iraq while his other son is currently attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
What is unique about Sen. McCain other than his heroism, is his experience and leadership ability. For this reason, I proudly the Senator as we need now more than ever, someone who understands the complex and dangerous issues facing our country, and someone who will do what is right, regardless of politics.
Good man, honorable hero. Just not the right guy for the White House. With A LOT of respect to McCain, Romney is a better candidate in almost every category. We need someone who can beat Obama. McCain and Huckabee are going to get ROASTED by the Obama furnace. Watch the debates, Romney will be able to take Obama on head to head.
WOw mitt won wyoming, scored many delegates in iowa(huck 20, romney 26). technically romney(for now) is winning. WHere is the media attention? Oh yes its on the hucka-burger! stop discriminating! Make this a littel more farr/balanced.
thanks. I hope fox will live up to their name!
Good luck carl.
That’s because the liberal media wants this illegal immigrant-lovin’ candidate to be nominated. Then the election is win-win for them. They get a liberal regardless of who wins in the general.
It’s very interesting to see what Mr. Wilson and crew have to go through to get what we see on the news after editing the video tape. It seems Ms. Bawa (if she’s the one who videotaped the madness) had her hands full, too.
Great job on all their parts. These behind-the-scenes segments are always interesting. Good idea.
McCain/Huckabee
Americans want change in Washington, there’s no doubt about that.
But try as they will to convince voters that they’re the candidate for change, it seems obvious to me that candidates who are already firmly entrenched Washington insiders are NOT the ones who will make those changes.
It’s exactly that insider same old, same old “experience” so many of the candidates tout that Americans want to get rid of.
WASHINGTON CANNOT FIX WASHINGTON!
Mitt Romney makes a telling comment:
“People who have been there all their careers don’t begin to have the freedom of movement and the capacity to change Washington. They’ve got lobbyists at every elbow, the deals have been worked out in the Senate cloakrooms are just so overwhelming – the scores that have to be settled, all of the favors that have to honored. You just can’t get the job done in Washington with people that have been in Washington all their lives. So people are saying you know what? We need change.”
To me it seems perfectly clear that the most qualified outsider candidate, the one who is most likely to make real change in Washington, is Mitt Romney.

Is this who you want in the white house?
McCain/Lieberman now thats the ticket!!
I agree NeoConn, McCain/Lieberman is the best ticket!! Two politicians I actually respect and support!!
McCain could be our Republican nominee for the Presidency.
Excuse me while I run to the bathroom, I think that I am getting sick to my stomach.
In response to the McCain/Hucabee ticket.
I don’t think there’s much doubt that Huckabee has been pitching hard to be a running mate to McCain.
They were practically holding hands and kissing at the last debate. And, today on the NH trail. You would have thought that they were long lost brothers.
To be honest, I don’t think that you could pick a more liberal Republican ticket.
I’m disgusted with Fox News…..it’s blatantly obvious how your “fair and balanced” coverage is trying to silence Ron Paul…..you excluded him from the last debate even though he was neck ‘n neck with Fred Thompson in Iowa and the polls in N.H. showed him ahead of him there and yet, Thompson was at the table to answer questions while Ron Paul was nowhere to be heard. Who makes Fox the authority on who should be heard. If you are really the “most trusted name in news,” then every candidate should have a voice in the process so we can all make a better choice.
For the past few years I’ve turned to Fox for news coverage because I truly believed you were “fair and balanced”……and I use to be a fan of Sean Hannity……but, in my opinion, he has become an arrogant, pompous jerk who talks over and shouts down everyone he disagrees with. He just loves to hear himself talk, so I’m sure it’s very difficult for him to let someone else get their view out…..especially if he doesn’t want them to be heard.
I am a Conservative Republican, and I will find out more about Ron Paul and his views on the issues in spite of your propaganda.
McCain/Lieberman is definitely the future ticket for a win-win for the whole of this Nation and the world. Don’t forget, McCain was a POW. He knew before alot of others from his own experiences what was and is NEEDED to fight the war against the extremists. Who, by the way want an inexperienced President and Vice President. McCain proposed for the Surge, and it is working. Joe Lieberman left his former party to stand for his beliefs and knows very well about all that is involved in international security with our enemies. The extremists who want to kill our childten and every one that does not agree with them in their own far out murderous rampages. Lieberman knows very well. McCain is very responsible. When asked to leave POW camp, he stayed for the good of his fellow comrades until they were all rescued. McCain beleives in not only cutting taxes but cutting on government spending. Something to think about later when you want to look back and say; He kept this country safe and he stopped wasteful spending and got us on the road to a respected path again. Mitt Romney talks a good talk with all of his experiences with what he did as a business man in the private sector. Where is his experiences with international Islomic extremists. Was he ever a POW in an active war. Did he ever stand for something when nobody else would stand there for it. Mitt Romney changes like the tide, where ever the wind blows he’ll be there. It was only two years ago that he was for abortion. He was a grown man. What changed him? Did he think about babies who were being murdered as governor? When he decided to fund state abortions on demand. Or did he change his mind because he thinks he would look better sitting in the oval office playing Mr. President. Beliefs or Circumstances?
I will vote for John McCain, Hopefully Joe Liberman will be his Vice President
Neil M. McCain
Korean War Veteran
All you people complain that Mccain is getting too much press?!?! Did you watch Fox news the other night with the “focus Group” after the candidates all talked. That was the biggest set-up I have ever seen in my life. They all thought Romney did the best in that thing? That was the most biased peice of TV I have seen ever. I dont really love Ron Paul but I think it was ludacris that he wasnt allowed because there was “not enough room.” Romney like Billary Clinton will just say whatever they have to in order to get elected. I watched it and I didnt think anyone stood out more than others, but they made it seem like Glove Romney was going to Landslide New Hamster, and that he was the best thing they had seen since Wal Mart came to their town. Give me a break. When asked why they thought Romney did the best they started saying…”Um Um because he just is” They obviously forgot to read their script from Fox News. If Romney gets the nod from the Republicans I will vote for anyone else but him. He is the biggest sleaze ball I have seen and he wont fix a damn thing. If Mccain doesnt get picked for the GOP I will vote Democrat.
Mr. McCain, surely is respected because he has served his country. I have been following his actions in the past 8 years and I feel that he is not a ustworthy man. He’sbeen against President Bush in important decesions. I hope all of us study well the character of the politician that want to be the leader of America. I personally won’t vote for Mr. McCain, if he is the Republican representative I will vote Democrat.
