Hillary’s Emotional Moment

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Senator Clinton made it through questions on jobs, education, and health care at an uneventful forum with undecided voters — but a question on how she gets through every day so upbeat nearly brought her to tears.

“It’s not easy. It’s not easy,” she said. “And I couldn’t do it if I just didn’t passionately believe it was the right thing to do. I have so many opportunities for this country. I just don’t want to see us fall back.”

As she finished her sentence, Hillary’s voice caught and she appeared to well up. The crowd at the small coffee shop applauded.

“This is very personal for me,” she continued. “It’s not just political, it’s not just — I see what’s happening. We have to reverse it. And some people think elections are a game. It’s like, who’s up or who’s down. It’s about our country. It’s about our kids’ futures. And it’s really about all of us, together.”

“And some of us who do this put ourselves out there and do this under some pretty difficult odds. And we do it, each one of us, because we care about our country.”

Pulling herself together, she made the case for her candidacy.

“Some of us are right and some of us are wrong. Some of us are ready and some of us are not. Some of us know what we will do on day one, and some of us haven’t really thought that through enough.”

“And so, when we look at the array of problems we have, and the potential for getting, it spinning out of control, this is one of the most important elections America has ever faced.”

Asked about her reaction, two undecided female voters called the emotional display a positive for them. One who was leaning toward Hillary but considering Barack Obama said that she’d made up her mind to support Sen Clinton.

Watch her full response from my imperfect vantage point, or check out Major Garrett reporting on the incident — complete with a head-on shot.

Makes me want to cry…I mean vomit.

I have never liked Hilary Clinton and am a died in the wool Republican, but I felt an emotional connection with Hillary when I saw her well up. For the first time I thought perhaps she has the soul to do the job. She has always appeared so calculating and insincere. Now, finally, I see a real person. One of the key requirements for the job is humanity and now I see her as possessing that quality. Good for her–maybe, just maybe, good for America

Alison,

If you’re a “died in the wool Republican”, how can you fall for such a contrivance? She learned from the master (Billary).

How can we expect Hillery Clinton to shoulder the responsibilities of being the President of the United States if she can’t keep her composure in the primaries! The President must be ready to commit our precious resources and young lives to protect our people and sovereignty. Does Hillery have the fortitiude or stomach to make the big decisions?

Don’t be fooled! Hilary’s “emotional moment” was a carefully choreographed performance to fit the audience. She is pulling out all the stops. She is desperate.

Yesterday on the CNN Ballot Bowl Hillary was reported on and followed to her Q& A rallys and at one of these rallys an attendee in the audience said that he was from Ireland and wanted to thank her for her
role in bringing peace to his country. REALLY? He travelled all the way to NH to one of her rallies to Thank her at a Q&A forum for something she didn’t do? A little planted don’t you think. Yet CNN doesn’t question that while they let her spew her venom on the other canidates. So With this emotional face I believe that Hillary is just acting again. She says that she really cares about the american people and that is untrue she cares only for Her own objectives.

At least Hillary Clinton shows compassion for her country, not to mention that those were genuine tears. The biggest mistake this country is going to make is putting another slick talking minister in the white house, with the middle name of “hussein”.

Comment by Viola Schulle

I believe the question was planted and the “non-tearing” response was contrived in a last dtch effort to gain sympathy….a sign of desperation from a devastated campaign. If I’m wrong, then Hillary is even more unfit than I realized as Commander in Chief. The loss of Iowa primary brings her to uncontrollable emotion????

Don;t be fooled\ she is a verry good at acting she is a verry good liar

As I watched Mrs. Clinton make her emotional comment this morning my thoughts were as always. [FAKE]

Comment by don

Maybe Ahmadinejad, Putin and Chavez, etc. will have compassion on her after she wins the white house, but to be completely honest, I don’t think so…..

There’s no doubt that there is a double standard for Hillary Clinton.
One person here posted: “How can we expect Hillery Clinton to shoulder the responsibilities of being the President of the United States if she can’t keep her composure in the primaries!”

I’ve watched George W. Bush “lose his composure” (your words about what this video showed, not mine) and his supporters applauded his emotions.

Unfortunately, no matter what she does, the Clinton Haters are going to rip her apart. “Vomit”? “Spewing venom”? Do they teach you that kind of language in Sunday School?

Comment by RON MEADE

IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO GET EMOTIONAL WHEN A PRESIDENT ADDRESSES LOSS OF LIFE OR A CALAMITY BEFALLING OTHERS (SUCH AS MILITARY CASUALTIES), BUT IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO DO THE SAME WHEN ONE HAS SIMPLY SUFFERED A PERSONAL SETBACK - AT LEAST NOT FOR ANYONE WHO ASPIRES TO A POSITION OF LEADERSHIP. SHEDDING A TEAR FOR OTHERS IS ADMIRABLE, BUT SHEDDING TEARS FOR ONESSELF REVEALS A CONCEIT AND SELFISHNSS BEST LEFT BEHIND IN CHILDHOOD.

Comment by Ohio Conservative

Jan - George Bush’s show of emotions we’re because he was tired and possibly losing bad in an election. BTW, Hillery’s crowd also applauded, no double standard here, very refreshing!

Shame on all of you!! You all act like having “feelings” for something you strongly believe in shows weakness! Have any of you ever shed a tear for someone or something that you deeply care about? Did that cause you not to beable to run your household, buisness or did it affect your employment statis?
For all of you who say the tears were fake or Hillary is just desperate only shows ignorance on your part, as a person and as a voter!
I guess you would rather put the “charm” of saintly Obama in the white house… Talk about hypocrites!!

Comment by Jim Evans

Sunday school doesn’t have anything to do with it. It’s all about the truth which I think America is ready for.

Those of you who think that Hillary was faking I must say then that you all have been brought up with your mama’s teachings in an age where compassion is being lost. There is nothing wrong with showing compassion in something you believe in. Showing tears is NOT a sign of weakness, it is a welling from the heart when you see something going array. In this case, it was a deep sense of compassion for her, our, country. Hillary has my vote.

Over the past few hours, with no little help from Matt Drudge, there have been floaters out there that the Hillary Clinton campaign is experiencing an internal split and that the gas-pipe may be ‘Option B’. Not so fast. Minute-by-minute, hour by hour, Obama is the top search ‘keyword’ in the news ether. I would not put it past the Clinton campaign to toss out a premature funeral notice solely to grab the focus from her political nemesis, Senator Obama. Desperate times mean desperate measures, especially when your ‘feelings’ are hurt.

Comment by Ann Townsend

The question asked of Hillary was basically a personal, not a political one. I think she responded in a personal way, which I think may have benefited her since it humanized her all the more. It just seems as if she’s darned if she does and darned if she doesn’t. as far as the media is concerned. You either portray her as harsh and distant, or in this case, she’s too emotional. The press has given Obama a HUGE amount of good PR and favorable press, but no one has asked him really hard questions or pinned him down for a definitive answer.
As for Hillary’s personal, quite honest answer to the question posed this morning–it was fine with me! I liked it!

Loss of emotional control over a question about her tough campaign schedule cannot be twisted into a concern for our countries well being. I believe that the “inevitable” definition the liberal leaning media has used to describe her candidacy has convinced Hillery that she would be elected. Well, reality has now set in and nobody can now guess the outcome now.

Comment by Joyce McMahon

If Hillary thinks the campaign trail is tough, what will she do if she’s president? She’s done no less that her opponents, but you don’t see them tearing up. Ohil conservative has it right.

Hillary’s tears only confirm my feelings that women are too emotional to serve in such a high office as President of the U.S. If she is so tired that she can’t contain her emotions, then she has no business running for President. If she is so tired now, what will it be like for her when she has all the pressure of the Presidency on her shoulders?

Comment by skies11

Both Clinton and BO would “blink” in the face of an urgent national defense decision. They’re interested in obtaining the office, not defending the constitution or its Federalist roots.

Comment by Veronica Rinaldi

Tell Hillary to put her big girl panties on and stop with the theatrics!

Hillary is about as fake as they come. Living in Arkansas most all my life, I have see the Clintons first hand, and they are calculating and made up. They love the power, and the limelight. Hillary keeps refferring to all the good she has done, and the experience she has gained…. Where? She was nothing more than a Governors wife here in Arkansas, and a Presidents wife in the White House. She moved to New York, because she knew there was nothing left for her here in this State, and that she could never get elected here…. everyone already knew what she is about. God save us if she ever does get elected.

when i first saw the partial clip i felt she was being truthful. when i went to your website and saw the ENTIRE clip my opinion changed. in the middle of this emotional moment she tried to make a joke, and realized the favorable mode was changing, she was instantly the weary woman again. bill had told her to be emotional, it would work..she felt uncomfortable and started to get back what she thought was the right way,the strong way, but when it started to back fire she reverted back to the edge of tears. i don’t think she has an honest emotion.

Comment by VRus

Senator Clinton assumed she was going to cakewalk through the primaries and run away with the nomination. Her tears are nothing more than the foot stompings of a spoiled brat who has suddenly realized that it is going to take gut-wrenching work to run for the Presidency against a field of strong candidates, not to mentioned be elected. It is obvious she doesn’t not have the strength or fortitude to be a commander in chief.

Comment by Donna

That was so fake and just another page out of the old Clinton plan when in doubt cry.

Comment by Rob T.

I wonder if UBL is more or less scared of us when he sees this video?

Comment by Ken

What an absolute fraud she is!!! She is crying because she is realizing that she may lose and not get the nomination or the oval office like she expected. I am by no means against a woman in the oval office and can name a few that would, in my opinion, do a fine job but the truth is Senator Clinton CAN’T take the heat or the critics comments and these are from people she has worked with.
It is absolutely disgusting and pathetic to see a grown supposed professional politician and potential leader of our country crying because people attack her credibility or experience (what little there is). Give me a break! There is a time an place for emotion at that level and it certainly isn’t when someone takes verbal shots at you.

re: “SHEDDING A TEAR FOR OTHERS IS ADMIRABLE, BUT SHEDDING TEARS FOR ONESSELF REVEALS A CONCEIT AND SELFISHNSS BEST LEFT BEHIND IN CHILDHOOD.”

Ron Mead, if you actually watched the video, Hillary was “shedding tears” (your words) for her country.

The only Americans who are not shedding tears for America are Bush Republicans, a vast minority of our nation.

Again, the Hillary Haters are not nice people.
This is how this very slight show of a bit of emotion was described right here by a Hillary Hater:
“The loss of Iowa primary brings her to uncontrollable emotion…”

Do any average, ordinary, SANE human beings think this video shows her brought to “uncontrollable emotion”?

Comment by Michael Thomas

Oh my gosh, Jan, what a blind , bleeding heart liberal you are.

It is not haters. I don’t hate anyone, but I have lived in the same State and have see her up close and personal for most of 40 years. If you only knew.

Comment by Jimmy

I do not mean to sound like a cynic, but I just do not believe her. She had questions planted in open forums before and with her loss in Iowa and that she is losing New Hampshire, I believe this was staged. I also recently saw the documentary about her dealings with former fund raisers Peter Paul and I find it hard to believe she is sensitive about anything after trying to destroy this man’s life. I feel her teary eyed moment was so fake, but maybe it wasn’t fake seeing that Obama is leading in all the polls. She’s trying everything she can to sway people her way but it’s not working even with her so called 35 years of experience, if I hear that one more time i’ll scream.

[...] Tears with Fox News by Aaron Bruns Hillary Clinton laughed off the suggestion that her teary-eyed response to a seemingly innocent question in Portsmouth today was a “Muskie Moment” — [...]

The time for Hillary to get emotional was when Bill was getting head under the desk in the Oval Office.

waaahhh vote for me waaaah
Tired when she felt she was loosing and so early in the race!!!
Makes you want to think is she the tough figure she potrays or is she just a cry baby?

I bet being in power is personal to her. She probably has some millions of dollars that she is expecting from deals she has made with people which she has to fulfill. So if she cant be a president, she is ok wih Vice President …another “deal” she wants to make. I would say if she comes to office we have got to watch out for another NAFTA..
