Fox News Presidential Forum: Romney Fights Back
Portsmouth, NH
The Fox News Forum just ended and Governor Romney gained some of what he lost last night. He was much stronger and came out swinging; definitely prepared with more ammo after the ABC debate. The event was much less combative, even though the four other candidates still seemed to buddy up together against Romney. There were also less caustic barbs thrown at the former Massachusetts governor by John McCain perhaps after looking a bit too sour last night.
There was a lot of discussion about Romney’s negative ads against both Huckabee and McCain. But, this morning on ABC’s This Week Romney said he hadn’t seen one of his ads:
STEPHANOPOULOS: You and John McCain also went at it, last night, on the issue of immigration, again, and whether or not his plan is a plan that includes amnesty. Here’s what you said last night.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ROMNEY: I don’t describe your plan as amnesty in my ad. I don’t call it amnesty.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
STEPHANOPOULOS: But here’s your ad.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ANNOUNCER: On immigration, McCain supported this year’s amnesty bill: higher taxes, amnesty for illegals. That’s straight talk for being in Washington too long.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
STEPHANOPOULOS: Had you not seen your own ad?
ROMNEY: I hadn’t seen that one, and my staff told me afterwards.
It does say “amnesty” and I suppose…
STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, two ads — both of them say it.
In a press conference on his bus John McCain was asked for his response. McCain said he had heard about it and he was also asked if he believed Romney. He answered,”Whatever he says is fine.” He was pressed again and he responded, “Whatever he says I certainly accept his word.”
The Romney campaign has not responded to this as of yet.

The whole thing was meaningless, since Ron Paul wasn’t included. VOTE RON PAUL!
Chris Wallace was the one who hosted the forum, not STEPHANOPOULOS. The transcript above is from an earlier interview with STEPHANOPOULOS, not the Fox News Presidential Forum .
Mitt Romney for 2008!
Credibility is THE issue; The Change we want is to believe our political leaders.
Our political leader’s utter loss of credibility makes the solution to most of America’s toughest problems unreachable. When most anyone in power speaks you just can’t believe them. Over and over they parse words. The reason everyone is turning on Mitt is not the religion or even just the flipping, it’s because he lacks credibility across the board. Obama is winning because he is more credible than the Clintons. He can’t beat Obama because Obama is more credible hands down. If somehow he could beat any Democrat, I simply can stand the idea or another 4 years of dishonesty. America can’t stand this. Our world wide prestige took a huge hit from this when with the events of 9/11 we should have had a bank of goodwill. It was simply because of credibility. Mitt simply is not authentic.
Mitt is fabricated. Last night he even said he never claimed that McCain wanted Amnesty. Does he think we are suckers? Do you think he will get more honest once elected? John McCain and the other are authentic. What separates McCain from the others is experience and a demonstration of courage under fire.
NH won’t be bought. Return credibility to our government. Vote McCain with me on January 8th.
Fox did everything they can do to prop up Willard. This is bad for Republicans and wont get them in the Whitehouse.
The questions setup Mitt to dominate and gave him a pass on all his credibility issues. Mitt will not become more honest when elected.
I am one NH Independent voting McCain and I will work to bring everyone I know. We need McCain for America more than the Republican establishment needs to control the party by promoting someone with no content.

I watched the Fox Round Table Debate, but feel that Romney was very well prepared and easily won. I don’t know if the outcome will change, but Huckabee appeared to be flustered. With the pile-on that occured on Saturday it appears to me that most of them are worried about Romney. I know that Romney is branded as a Flip-Flopper, but As I’ve researched each of them, they are all at least as guilty if not more guilty than Romney. I eliminated Huckabee during Iowa with is Religious Bigotry and I feel distain for McCain with his actions as of late. Ron Paul appears to be an Isolationist, which I disagree with. Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter appear to be a real long shots. Rudy Gulliani appears to be waiting for the bigger states and ignoring the little states. I have lived in several states both large and small and fell strongly that small states have real issues that are squashed by the larger states. His attitude alarms me. To me Mitt Romney appears to be the best option, but I would vote for any of them in the General Election over a Democrat with the exception of Mike Huckabee. I will not support any ticket that includes the Religious Bigot even if it means that Hillary Clinton gets into office.
At the end of each ad, the candidate is legally required to state “I approved this ad”. How could Romney have approved it if he never saw it? Is this not a violation of campaign law??
I watched the debate tonight, and I can honestly say that I used to love Fox News, but after their “fairly biased” view towards the Establishment, I think I would rather watch CNN. Tonight, Romney was caught numerous times, and pointed out flaws in others before hardly giving a positive on himself. The way Fox has treated underdogs Huckabee and Paul from the beginning has been far from fair and balanced, and after I saw that group tonight claim that Mike Huckabee seem flustered in saying he was pro-life and obviously too religious only to praise Mitt Romney. Something was up tonight in a very big way, and I, for one, hope that you get found out. It’s disgraceful.
I think it was very unfair to the American public and our election process for Fox to bar Congressman Paul from this forum. The New Hampshire GOP even cut there ties to this forum before it started, did that give anyone pause to really look at what is going on here. Corporate media and the elite are picking our president for us. This should be a great concern to the people.
I did not watch the “Forum” tonight because of the exclusion of Dr. Ron Paul. I believe the rest of the Republican (and Democratic) candidates are more of the same. The only voice of the constitution, the only voice of true liberty and individual freedom was excluded.
The day that a major media outlet excluded a voice that is currently polling 3rd in New Hampshire (Rasmussen Group) from a New Hampshire Forum is a sad day for the U.S. political system. Shame on you Fox News for not giving the only “Live free or die” candidate a fair and balanced opportunity.
What is the purpose of this article but to show more bias media against Romney. Why don’t you post an article about Huckabee’s false ads, or running the ad he promised he wouldn’t run? Or an article about the tremendous response from Republicans shooting down McCain’s Amnesty bill? This article is biased, poorly written, and poorly researched. Not in line with the fox slogan “We report - You decide.”
Romney won hands down! McCain looked tired and Huckabee looked confused!
Romney has my bet on winning New Hampshire. I don’t think the people from New Hampshire will be fooled by John McCain. McCain will not bring change to Washington. He has been there a couple of decades and what has he done during that time.?
Recently McCain tried to promote Amnesty for Illegals. Well, what message is that sending — if you sneak across the border we will let you stay.
McCain spends most of his time attacking the other candidates but I haven’t heard once what he will do. He talks about his experience, especially foreign policy, but what will he do for America. So often Presidents worry about international issues because it is more grandiose but forget about Americans. We have had enough of Bush and his emphasis on Iraq, like nothing else mattered. I feel McCain will be the same way.
Mitt Romney has Real plans for improving America and our economy. In this global economy, we need a real CEO for president.
Romney won hands down! McCain looked tired and Huckabee looked confused!
Mitt Romney clearly won the debate last night and the forum tonight.
Everyone was trying to gang up on him, but he made Huck and McCain
look like what they are-moderates, not conservatives.
He sounded , looked and tought like a good president.
I am not sure whether the above story is an editorial endorsement of Mitt Romney or a FOX news attempt to report on the its own Republican Presidential forum…in any event it now appears that FOX is in the tank for “Counterfeit Mitt”.
This is apparent not only from the above so called reporting but also from FOX’s own post debate analysis in which you guys bent over backwards to coordinate a focus group to gauge reaction to the various candidate’s comments and in which response to Counterfeit Mitt’s were “over the top” as Frank Luntz put it.
As a Massachusetts resident, I found particularly disturbing, the former (thank God) Governor’s attacks against Mike Huckabee for having raised taxes. Ask the former Governor with what frequency he raised user fees (taxes) in the Commonwealth. FOX ought to research the question themselves as they are likely not to get a straight answer from the Flipper Mitt. The fact is there was not a user fee the governor did not like from increased motor vehicle registration charges to increased land recording and registration fees at various registries of deeds.
I find equally disturbing the claim he worked with a Democrat legislature in the Commonwealth to pass sweeping health care reform. Ask the former Governor how well that program is working today since absolutely none of it’s implementation time-lines have been met as it was underfunded and without a mandate to employers to offer affordable health insurance alternatives to employees for businesses employing fewer than 10 (need to check that) people.
The fact is had he run for a second term as governor he would never have been re-elected because he could not and cannot point to any note worthy accomplishment during his brief tenure…and brief because becoming governor fit his grand scheme to use the position merely as a stepping stone to his current aspirations. As a matter of fact, when he announced his candidacy for president most of us in the Commonwealth looked on in amusement joking “Mitt Romney for what?”
Ask yourselves how a centrist candidate for US Senate and Governor has now sought to cast himself as the spokesperson for heartland American Conservatism? He has done so by reversing just about every substantive political position he once held in a relatively short period of time. A man acting so expediently and lacking in any core set of principals and beliefs is a danger because he is motivated by nothing more than ego to become the leader of the Free World. Wake Up!
Counterfeit Mitt must be stopped.
Yeah, RonPaulRonPaulRonPaulyadayadayada - the man will get his consistent >10% of the polls and his “message” out, which is what he’s after anyway, but he’s got as much chance of winning the presidency as Gore has of getting an A in basic science. Paul is great on domestic issues but a neo-Kantian, stuck-in-the-60s idiot on foreign policy who would get America and Western Civilization blown to smithereens if he ever got near the Oval Office. Ain’t gonna happen, enough already. I wouldn’t have minded seeing him on the debate, but his endless antiwar/ostrich-mode/pacifist whine was missed not in the slightest.
Tangential annoyance aside, what I really wanted to post here are my congratulations - a mixture of “relieved” and “exasperated” - to Fox News for airing the first Presidential debate of the ‘08 campaign.
That’s right, the first Presidential debate of the ‘08 campaign. No game-show format, no arena crowds of screaming, booing, jeering, applauding, groaning bonehead cheerleaders dragging discourse into the fetid gutter of tabloid journalism. Just Presidential candidates seated before a moderator, discussing issues. Imagine that.
Why have we had to wait the better part of a year through the game shows before getting a real discussion - you know, as if hearing what candidates really think was important or something.
Most importantly, how do we drum into the collective (ist) heads of the rest of America’s news media that this is the kind of format the rest of the debates from here on out need to adopt?
A backhanded compliment, to be sure, but a compliment nonetheless. Televised political “debates” in America have been atrocious, nay, scandalous, in their juvenility for years - thanks to Fox News for finally getting it right, and may the idea stick.
Saturday Mitt Romney was ganged up on. He took some blows, but held his own.
Sunday once again McCain, Huckabee, and Giuliani tag teamed Mitt Romney and Mitt didn’t just hold his own, he came out on top! He had the right ideas, and he presented them well.
If these candidates teamed up as a group can’t best Mitt Romney on his own, how can they even pretend to be able to challenge Barak Obama 1 on 1. Mitt Romney handled himself well against opponents from multiple directions. Competing with Barak Obama 1 on 1 is going to be a relaxing stroll in the park after all the practice Mitt has had.
The last fews days have been good for Romney. He won Wyoming with a landslide victory. Romney received 67% in the caucuses and is the first candidate to be rewarded delegates to the National Convention. Mitt Romney is the front-runner right now. He looked great tonight and held his own last night. All of the other candidates gang up on Romney and viciously attack Romney and that is the best that they can do. How Pathetic. I was not surprised by Huckabee. I was surprised by McCain. He seemed to be foaming at the mouth like some vindictive teenage schoolgirl. McCain has lost my respect and he looked OLD. He seemed to be enjoying attacking Romney a little too much. Huckabee is a farce. Romney stands out as the old man who could actually run this country. He looks and acts like a president. Advise for Huckabee, Giuliani, and McCain-don’t react with your emotions and don’t expose the sides of yourselves that you have let show the last few days. The more I see of Romney, the more that I like him. This is one qualified man!!!
McCain, Huckabee, and Guliani are scared to death of Mitt Romney because they know that ..his ads tell the real story. they cannot defend thier records so They go on the personal attack gangland style to try to destroy Romney outright.. but failed…. Mitt may not be at the top of the heap in every caucus but his record and personal integrity speak for themseves and it drives his opponents so crazy that theya cannot find any dirt on him that they make personal attacks on his religion, his wealth that he built himself.. thay have their henchmen threaten him with physical harm.. If these men lose this race , they all know that their political careers are over… nomore power , nomore paycheck at taxpayers expence…. wounded animals always do anything to survive.. MITT ROMNEY HAS EVERYTHING IT WILL TAKE IN THESE TROUBLED TIMES to repair the economy, deal with illegal immigrants in a very compassionate way, and make the tough descisions about how to deal with terroristic countries.. he always does his homework. he knows how to pick effective people to surround himself with who are intelligent and capable… Mitt Romney will make an incredible President..
Ok
Wow! Romney is amazing! My choice for the only republican candidate who is ready to be President of our United States. Not just in one way or maybe two, but all the way around. McCain is a pathetic old man, who is just trying too hard to be the popular “cool kid” of the group and wants to have all the others follow. (presidential nominees) What’s funny, they follow and look as rediculous and unpresidential as he does. It’s all just so much of a turn off! And as for poor Huckabee, his lack of brain power is showing even sooner than I thought it would. The word pathetic describes him in yet a different way. A way that says, “Gosh, I’m so glad to be your buddy, preacher pal, and lets sit together and talk a little about what you think I should do and we can relate and I know just how you feel, I’m just the best buddy President you’ll ever have. Me and my best buddy, God, for he defines me” (that’s not a bad thing, but it is certainly about all that defines him” And even with that I am truly convinced that he used his so called Christianity to move Iowa and that and possibly SC will be the last of the Huckabee movement) I also have to say that I tend to think that God probably doesn’t like to be used! Can you imagine if Romney even used the work God, or Christ in anything he said! What would the so called “attacks” be like then! Anyway, great stuff Mitt. You are definately The Man for President. Anything else will be the biggest mistake this country has ever made.
I disagree with the Fox news roundtable and their assessment that Romney won the discussion tonight and improved his position. I did not like a lot of Romney’s comments. He seems insincere & spends too much time attacking others. His plans sound like canned speeches and particularly his points on immigration are not realistic. How does he propose to round up all of the illegal aliens in this country and have them deported? It would be utter chaos and if he thinks the illegals are hiding in the shadows now, what does he think would happen if he tries to enact his plan of massive deporation? His plan is pure rhetoric!! I am tired of Romney and am hopeful that the NH voters will agree and pick McCain as the one who has the leadership and experience to be President.
I feel sorry for Republicans. Every candidate, except for Paul, is stark raving mad! Fox is the worst network in the world.
After watching the debate tonight (Sunday Jan 9th), I think Romney did us all a favor by forcing the other candidates to talk about the real issues in relation to their records. Romney is tough when it comes to fighting for the welfare of this country and standing up for true Reagan “conservative” principles. Also, the guy has energy! Don’t we want someone like him to stand up to the terrorist? keep the economy going? fix Social Security? Set up health care system?, make us energy independent, etc.? Let’s tap into this energy - the other guys looked like they were ready to fall asleep compared to Romney. He has the best chance of winning next Nov - Go Romney!!
I am a Massachusetts resident and Mit Romney was governor of my State he signed a so called “health care reform law chapter 58″ and ruined my State. The low income get free health insurance and the middle income have to pay for it.If we don’t sign up we are FINED every month by the DOR thousands of dollars we can’t afford. Why was this important issue not brought up!!!I waited for any questions on this and not one.Why is that?
Romney did a great job…McCain and Huckabee call them attack adds but all they are doing is talking about there records. An attack add is something personall such as religion or previous mishaps like drugs or driving records ect…Conservatives want someone like Romney that actually wants to fix our border problems. None of these candidates want to build a fence! You people call Romney a flipflopper but McCain wanted nothing to do with a fence months ago and now says he realizes the first way to fix the problem is at the border. McCain and Huckabee are both soft and both have a record of raising taxes and McCain actually voted against Bush’s tax cuts. Also Romney actually attacks and fights back unlike these guys. We need someone in the General Election to attack these libs because they get away with everything and he wont let that happen. He is organized and smart and can match the excitement of Hillary or Obama. Plus if it is Obama you wont here a single word about religion because Obama has his own problems with his church/minister.
Why wasn’t Ron Paul included in the forum? FOX shouldn’t refuse to allow a candidate to participate in public forums when they are growing in public popularity as Ron Paul is. Shame on you.
This is one NH voter that will be voting for Romney.
I hope Mitt wins and wipes that stupid smile off of John Mccains face one and for all.
MITT ROMNEY won both debates hands down. The commentators too often are intellectually dishonest. Romney didn’t get beat up in the ABC debate. In both debates he made the other candidates look like amateurs.
I saw that interview. It is scary how well Romney can lie and not really take any blame when he is wrong. If the whole ’saw’ debacle where he had to resort to tell us the definition of saw and it was all of us millions of americans that got it wrong becasue we are dumb enough to think when someone says they saw something that they saw something.
Gee I didn’t see that ad.
Ron Paul is the only candidate that speaks the truth and is really running for the sake of the country and not for personal power.
McCain is OLD ENERGY and a flawed candidate.
I believe Iowa has lost credibility. If it was up to Iowa Republicans, Huckabee would be President of the United States. Are you kidding me? And we take the results of this state serious?
I believe McCain’s time is over. He missed his opportunity and is not a true conservative.
The Republican nominee will lose in a landslide in the general election as long as he is a pro-war candidate. Vote for Romney, McCain, or whoever you want, but it is a vote for Obama. Ron Paul is the only hope the Republican party has of winning the general election.
Violence is down is Iraq because that’s what they tell us. Is it because of the surge or because we re-armed the Baathists that we have been trying to unarm for 5 years? There wasn’t a lot of violence there before we invaded remember?
Fox News please explain why you left the only viable Repulbican candidate off the air?
I enjoyed the forum last night. Romney without attacking Huck or McCain asked them about the decisions they made as gov. and sen.. Without hesitation, they both danced around the questions. They don’t have anything to say because Romney is speaking facts. All they can do is attack him personally. I wasn’t sure who I would for but, after the last few days and weeks, I know Romney is my choice.
As an undecided voter, just wondering WHY all these candidates are ganging up on Romney? My thoughts is that they fear he is most viable and his competence intimidates them. Sorry to see Ron Paul is not given fair time by the networks - elections more and more becoming popularity contests and not driven by what is best for the country.
Another thought about Huckabee’s surge and win in Iowa. It seems that the mainstream press was adovcating and unfairly promoting him before the caucuses. I couldn’t figure out why someone who is so against the media-at-large’s values would be given such favorable treatment. Then, I realized that if the media wants the Dem candidate to win in the general election, they want a real straw-man as the GOP candidate to run against the Dem. Isn’t this tactic transparent to the rest of the country? “Let’s diminish the real viable candidates who could draw bi-partisam support (Romney, Guliani, McCain) and get the ultra-evangelical Huckabee front and center. If he wins the party nomination, we’ll win the presidency for certain!”
Thoughts?
The entire debate and post-debate analysis was a shameless political ad for Mitt Romney which I’m sure he paid a good amount of money for. I’m not a Paul supporter…but considering that he’s currently fourth in NH, I really don’t understand the reason for not including him in the debate. Very odd. I live in MA and I’m absolutely disgusted that Mitt Romney is able to get away with his constant lies and barrage of attacks. This is such an important election to America. Mitt Romney is clearly a lobbyist for pharmaceuticals and other corrupt corporations and the media is allowing him to get elevated based on his personal wealth (wonder how much FOX is getting paid for this). I hope they get caught.
I did not watch the “forum” due to the exclusion of canditate Ron Paul.
I am almost 50 and this is the best Presidential debate I have ever seen. Good job Fox.
Fox News is joke. Your bias is evident. The shred of credibility you had prior to last night’s fiasco has evaporated.
You call yourselves “Fair and Balanced” and you repeat the mantra “We Report, You decide”.
Well, its like when you’re talking to someone and they keep saying, “I wouldn’t lie to you”, “you believe me don’t you”, etc.
It raises suspicions.
I used to watch your channel, but no longer. Likewise I have sold my newscorp stock, and boycotted every one of your advertisers.
Many of your viewers refer to CNN as the Communist News Network, and I wouldn’t disagree with that. However, your initials, FNN, fit rather nicely into Fascist News Network.
You report, you decide. Unfair and unbalanced.
Good job and way to stand up for the rights of the large corporations. I’m sure they’re happy with you.
Re: Comment by SteveC
Then, I realized that if the media wants the Dem candidate to win in the general election, they want a real straw-man as the GOP candidate to run against the Dem. Isn’t this tactic transparent to the rest of the country? “Let’s diminish the real viable candidates who could draw bi-partisam support
I think you are right!!
I’m just going to comment on the Peter from Dover NH comment. He said that Romney isn’t credible, and brings up his religion as not being the case. I have a feeling that it is more than he is leading on, but is using credibility as a cover up. Cause if there is ANYONE in this campaign that has been credible, it’s been Romney. McCain and Huck have been the least credible and the least honest out of all the candidates. McCain and Huck both dance around questions faster than anyone on Dancing with the Stars.
McCain says he will strengthen the borders once elected president. Can anyone tell him just how “strengthened” his boarders are in Arizona? I can tell you… they SUCK! Oh yeah, that was the line he used to be voted senator in Arizona as well, but Arizona’s borders are about as strong as a thin piece of paper trying to hold back a tank. But yeah Paul, McCain is credible.
And the questions were actually set up for the others to beat Mitt Romney over the head with. Mitt Romney is much more credible and held to his guns much better when he was elected in Mass, than any other candidate did. You might want to do some research on McCains credibility. Most Republicans wanted McCain to run under the Democrat ticket since he is more liberal then Conservative. But McCain won’t let on to that right now because he is credible. LOL… you crack me up Paul.
Romney flip-flops, spins, dances and pirouettes more than a ballet troupe of Hillary Clintons. Please, people, please look behind the glib, polished exterior and learn what this man is really about.
Where is Ron Paul??? He did better than Giuliani in Iowa and just plain makes more sense than the rest

I was born in Poland during communism. I know how to read between lines and how to distinquish a sincere person from a career politician. Romney knows how to run a political campaign but he does not know what he stands for. He would say and do everything to be elected.
I am surprised how much FoxNews openly stands behind Romney and how much they are afraid of McCain and Huckabee. It indicates that a split in Republican party is coming.
If Romney would be elected he would be a weak GOP candidate and he has very little chance to win the elections, because of is lacks of convictions. So, I do not worry that much about him anymore.

RE: Steve’s Comments (Facts about Huckabee)
Steve, don’t bother us with facts! You’re just being negative by bringing out Huck’s record. How dishonest of you. I’m going to take the high road!
Fox News is beyond a joke. Thanks for the publicity you gave Ron Paul by the scam to exclude him from the debate. I have lost all respect for Fox.
RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT
McCain’s bill was worse than amnesty. It made a mockery of our laws and national sovereignty. No illegal alien should get any path to citizenship-period.Round them all up and send them back now!No Amnesty-No McCain!
I am 60 years old and have never missed a chance to vote. It has always been a priority for me - local or national. I vote for the person who I believe stands for the good of my local community or for the good of my country - which I love. I have at times voted Democratic and sometimes Republican. I have watched and listened very intensely to all of the candidates of both parties who are running for President. I cannot support any of the Democratic candidates.
Their views are definiately socialistic to say the least. That is frightening. As for the Republican candidates after the last two debates I have had to mark off all but two. Thompson seems old and tired and without much excitement, Paul acts & talks like a loon, McCain has to attack others trying to make himself look like he has some credibility and he is very boring, he has been here and done this too many times. Perhaps he should consider retirement. Huckabee has proven himself as a biget, and really does not come across as having the smarts it takes to run this country.
That leaves Romney and Giuliani for me to choose from. So far - from what I have read - and have heard from them, Romney seems to have the brains, the energy, and the experience both national and foreign to lead this great country. Hopefully I will be able to vote in this national election. God Bless America and pray that it stays the Land Of The Free…..
I suffered through the debate. I watched as McCain and Huckabee attacked Mitt over and over again. Amazing thing is, after doing some research on the candidates, Romney is not being untruthful about Mike Huckabee. Romney is the only straight shooter from the whole quagmire.
When it comes time for our primaries, Mitt is the guy I vote for.
He did not become rattled with their constant harassment but remained calm. He answered every attack calmly and rationally. Good presidential material.
The issue is, does McCain support amnesty. The answer is yes.
One, he has said so in the past.
Two, he was one of the principles of the Bush amnesty bill.
Three, he still wants amnesty, and weak borders. He is not convinced about the fence, and wants to give amnesty to 18 million illegals if they pay few bucks and speak a few words of English. The illegals get their felonies (tax evasion, id theft, ignoring court orders, re entering USA after deportation) and their misdeamors (illegal entry, drying without a license) wiped clean. And they are rewarded with citizenship IN PREFERENCE OVER ALL OTHER FAMILY OF NON HISPANIC AMERICANS. That is amnesty. That is racist. That is unconstitutional.
On the comment by Foothiller, above:
What a puzzling post. There’s “Fox News is joke,”[sic] “biased” with “credibility…evaporated” in “last night’s fiasco.”
Then there’s the charge that “fair and balanced” and “we report, you decide” are unwarranted “mantras” that “raise suspicions.”
So what’s odd? Not a single example was cited to back up these breathless claims.
Veddy, veddy odd indeed, Keptin.
If anything Fox is biased…in favor of John “Traitor” McCain. As evidence I submit that unprecedented, singular phenomenon of Fox breaking to that graphic splash screen during one of McCain’s rebuttals against Romney. The graphic, recall, showed a quote by Romney that appeared to back up McCain’s contention that Romney once supported McCain’s position on immigration. Now that was open support of a candidate, namely McCain, by someone at Fox News - who took the time to generate that graphic screen ahead of time and to direct the production crew cut to it right in the middle of a candidate statement. I’ve never seen anything that blatant in any debate, by any network before.
As a disclaimer, I am not a supporter of Romney, and I do not support immigration crackdowns (instead, elimination of welfare would make the illegal immigration “problem” evaporate literally overnight, but… nobody’s talking Reagan talk these days.)
But back to Foothiller:
There is zero in the way of specific evidence in support of his complaint against Fox News. Then it’s:
- “I used to watch your channel, but no longer” - On which I’d speculate that, as a leftist, Foothiller has never torn himself away from CNN or MSNBC long enough to change the channel to Fox in the first place;
- “Likewise I have sold my newscorp stock,” - Which begs proof he ever owned any;
- “and boycotted every one of your advertisers” - Which similarly begs proof he ever patronized any of them, or could even name one of them, to begin with.
What really peeves me though is his standard leftwing ad hominem retort, clearly intended as a smear of anyone on the…non-Left: “However, your initials, FNN, fit rather nicely into Fascist News Network.”
It’s always comical to hear frothing leftists spew “fascist” as a blanket epithet to describe…basically anyone who disagrees with them, for it betrays an utter ignorance of the most rudimentary definition of the term. To wit: fascism is logically classified as a referent of the genus collectivism, alongside other collectivist variants such as communism, socialism, racism, multiculturacism, egalitarianism, eco-fascism, tribalism, absolute majority rule, and the like.
If Foothiller did comprehend the fact that fascism is an ideology whose philosophical roots are identical to his own, he perhaps wouldn’t have been so eager to so vividly illustrate the fact with his statement: “Good job and way to stand up for the rights of the large corporations.”[sic]
Clearly, what’s needed is a good iron-fisted dictator to smash those EvilGreedyCorporations, right now? Correct?
“Fascist” indeed.
Yeeek.
