McCain Praises Huck for Positive Campaign
by Malini Bawa
John McCain called Mike Huckabee Thursday night to congratulate him for his upset victory in the Iowa caucuses.
McCain spoke to reporters and supporters in Manchester, NH as the caucus results become clear.

McCain didn’t mention Mitt Romney by name last night. But the Senator has previously criticized Romney for running aggressive and misleading attack ads targeting Huckabee in Iowa and McCain in New Hampshire.
Romney’s defeat in Iowa could weaken him in New Hampshire, where Romney and McCain are running neck and neck.

Nice, it’s easy to gang up on the front runner and be all buddy buddy with your rival because you know he’s stronger and more capable of winning. Let’s see what McCain has to say about Huck if Huck continues to rise. The claws will come out and Mitt fans will be shaking their heads at both of these hypocrites.
McCain is almost sure to win NH now and Huckabee’s campaign has already stated that they have a gameplan for NH. They know they will be competing but still are keeping their tone civil with each other. From Huckabee’s comments on FOX news, I think he intends to keep it that way.
However (Jenner and all the other cynics), if he does change his tone and attacks McCain (or vice versa), which I seriously doubt, he would be worthy of a lot of criticism. But don’t you think you should wait to see this hypothetical happen before you began your comments about this non existent attack.
If neither candidate speaks negatively of the other, but rather both compliment each other’s stengths, and if in doing so they succeed to edge Romney out of the race, then you have a perfect set up for a McCain-Huckabee ticket.
A Baptist preacher whips a bunch of Iowa evangelicals into a frenzy and persuades them to establish a religious test for public office. What a surprise. zzzzzz
A “positive” campaign???? Mormon bashing, saying you won’t air a negative ad then airing the ad, running as the Christian leader knowing full well the bias evangelicals have against mormons as supposed “non-Christians”…that is positive???? THis is a sad day for the McCain “straight talk express” The man seriously disgusts me, and Huckabee/McCain have just signed this country’s death warrant by dissolving the Reagan coalition and giving the liberals the White House. It’ll take decades to clean up the mess.
Coming out of Iowa the question I would like to see discussed is: Who has class? Certainly, Mike Huckabee and John McCain do…Mitt Romney–not so much! But in the media…DEAD LAST is Rush Limbaugh…I have never heard such arrogance. He is so OBVIOUS…that he believes that no one is a CONSERVATIVE unless he first kneels to KISS Rush’s ring…or something.
What a sham. If FOX hadn’t pumped up Huckabee and derided Romney at every turn, the results might have been a little different. I don’t think people even know what conservatism is anymore. Do people in Iowa ever listen to Rush Limbaugh, who said that neither Huckabee nor McCain were at all conservative?!?
I looks like a “good guy” tag team. Both know that Romney has so much more potential than both of them combined. I was a little disappointed in fox, they not only shunned romney but also ron paul and hunter. Its imposslible for both mccain and huckabee to claim , the are the better ones. Both have made personal and religious attack (huckabee) against romeny. It is ver unamerican to attacks someones religion. Both mccain huckabee are the worst at taxing and have little experience about the economy. I was very disappointed on the media coverage and the choices people made. It seemed as like who is in your dogma rather thna the issues to vote for. I think to some degree the media and news channels, dictate who wins.
in new hampshire i hope they will vote on the issues and not be huckabee kool-aid drinkers.
I find it hard to believe in this day and age how Mike Huckabee was able to pull off the political crime of the century. If Mike Huckabee had made a racial statement about a black candidate or a sexist comment about a female candidate, American would have not allowed him to capitalize on such statements. Why did his religious bigotry toward another candidates faith not bring such rath from a nation that has worked for hundreds of years to put such thinking behind us. What a double standard and everyone seems blind to it even though it was exactly what brought Mike Huckabee to the forefront in Iowa.
Kelly, you are right on. Huckabee says “it’s never too late to do the right thing” when he decided not to show his attack ad. But, of course, it was shown anyway at least three times (according to factcheck.org), shown freely by the media and online, was filled with misrepresentations, and Huckabee has never taken the “never too late” stance in regard to Romney’s position on abortion. The long and the short of it: Huckabee is a hypocrite who won with identity politics. He’s probably a nice guy. Just no match for Romney’s executive skills. Romney is right for America, and those who have been so quick to judge him ought to slow down and get more of the story.
Mr. Romney is a Bush/Rockefeller (country club) Republican. When he got in trouble he ran off to Houston to appear with elder Bush. His money comes from the old guard, and everyone knows it. Don’t give us this nonsense about Romney being a Reagan conservative. Reagan was blue collar through and through. Huckabee understands the working class, Romney is mystified by the common man. Romney is right for Wal Street, big drug companies, big oil companies, and the multinational system that seeks to eliminate America and replace with with one nation under the control of BIG MONEY.
When McCain praises Huckabee for running a positive campaign, what he really means is thanks for not bringing up the important issues, and our records. Thanks for sticking with fluff, and throwing in personal insults about Romney any time you get the chance!

Well, McCain is not the man. McCain, you truely are a work. Being a Vietnam Vet myself you can’t imagine how much respect I had for your service and the hardships you endured for all of us. But, I just can’t imagine your take on the Iraq War. You of all people know that it was because of the lack of backing by the politicians that the military’s hands were tied that the Vietnam War was dragged on and on and on and eventually came to the conclusion that it did. Why you (especially you) and others in government did not learned from the past and get behind Bush to “win” is beyond me. If you had of, it would be a thing in the past already. I for one will not vote for you, just because of this one fact, you and all your buddies in government are brain dead. You have not learned from the past and because of this you have allowed and promoted Iraq to become another Vietnam drawn out affair. It is because of you that I and most others have lost all faith in Bush. I want a President who will get the backing of all other elected officials during his administration, if you can’t first follow, then how the hell can you lead.
Huckabee talks good, but I’m afraid he just won’t be able to implement his ideas, again because of the type of people we have in our government. In fact, it beats the heck out of me how anyone can do anything as president with the idiots we seem to put in office to help him run the country.
So far, if anyone has a chance of doing anything constructive in the government for the people, it looks like that person would be Romney — It appears that no matter who is put in, we an only hope for the best.
