Huckabee Discusses Iowan Win on Flight to NH

Manchester, NH-

We boarded the charter plane taking us from Des Moines, Iowa to Manchester, NH very late at night it.  Even though most of us had been up for a full day, most did not sleep, and neither did the Iowa victor. A noticeably ecstatic Gov.Mike Huckabee spend the majority of the 2 hour flight chatting with family, close advisors, and Chuck Norris. He also took some time to talk and joke with reporters, in the back of the plane, about his win in Iowa, and what kind of bounce he believed he would now get in the Granite State. At one point during take off, he rolled an orange down the center aisle of the plane. His target was a reporter sitting at the very back end. Huckabee had autographed the piece of fruit, and had written a short note. It read: ” We’re on a roll.”

If anyone has seen any of my posts, I am obviously not a Huckabee supporter. I have seen a lot of pro-Huckabee posts that tell all to find out the truth at mikehuckabee.com. This made me laugh since no candidate is going to point out there own faults. I have gone to the site to see what Huckabee says about the negative things said about him. Obviously it is the exact opposite of what other people are saying about him. So hey, why not do my own research. Good idea, right? Well not so good if you are a Huckabee supporter. One of my main concerns about Huckabee is his battle with the Ethics board. His site, under the link “Truth Squad: Ethics” says, “The overwhelming majority of ethics complaints filed against Governor Huckabee in the state of Arkansas were regularly dismissed and / or proven to be frivolous.” I checked to see if this was true. A majority of them have been thrown out, but not ALL. I find it disturbing that the EVANGELICAL RIGHT voted for a man who had, by his own admission, ethics issues. He never said all of them were thrown out. I wanted to know what wasn’t thrown out. I wanted to know in what areas he had ethics issues. I would suggest that all others do the same. He also tried to get a statute of limitations on ethics issues? Why would he do this. If he had so many issues with ethics why is anyone voting for him? That is a legitimate question. I would like an answer. I assume the answer will be that he will get rid of the IRS. I have done my research there too. It won’t happen. It isn’t possible. Even if the Fair Tax was possible, which i doubt it is, the IRS must still exist to collect that tax. SO why, why is the RIGHT voting for a man that doesn’t have a fiscal conservative record? Why is the right voting for a man that has ethics issues? Can some one answer this?

MIKE HUCKABEE IS THE REPUBLICAN VERSION OF BILL CLINTON! (his nickname: SLICKABEE)

He is a smooth-talking politician, who so skillfully portrays himself as a down home kinda guy. My goodness, his folksy personality, slight twang in his voice, quick wit and sense of humor, and great speeches, could almost convince me to vote for him.

Then I wake up and realize I’m not voting for who I’d most like to be neighbors with, I’m voting for who I want as the leader of our nation.

I’m voting for who I want deciding how best to run our economy, to create jobs and balance our budget. I’m voting for the person who has a proven conservative record of governing. Who has been in government, but also outside government, and can bring together the most effective coalition of people to solve the problems we have today in America.

So, while I’d love to have a backyard barbecue with Mike sometime, or even listen to him give a sermon, the person I want to be my next president is MITT ROMNEY!

Still schilling for Huckabee, FOX?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Gov. Romney just took a standing eight count in the first round. Round two in NH doesn’t look good either. If he does not win in Michigan, he enters the South with nothing and will likely leave Super Tuesday with few (if any) delegates. For all his millions and minions, he’s been shown the door and will not pass go or collect…, you get it.

Get mad, throw things and curse at the sky, if you like, but you know what they say about reality? My advise is that you head for the lifeboats, the Titanic just hit a Huck-a-berg and is going down. Remember, Rose, there are not enough lifeboats for everyone.

I agree! Someone from the Huckabee camp needs to respond to this in a factual way. Tell me right here with facts that are free of rhetoric. I’m tired of the righteously offended playing the
“negative ad” card and then moving on without answering the questions. As though they have a pass on comparative issues.

Same goes for the McCain camp. If you had to strike a deal with the Dems in order for some greater good . . . and it didn’t turn out well . . . then let’s have it. Facts, just the facts will do. Clear, easy to understand facts in response to the issues raised.

To both Senator McCain and Governor Huckabee: It would appear that such an opportunity to declare one’s position . . . defend one’s record . . . or at the very least offer the other side would be irresistible!
It would put Mitt Romney in his place with the facts of your record. (Something you are trying to run on anyway.) You should be able to make a positive point or two and clear up the platform at Mitt’s expense.

In stead people seem to clam up and give you a pass as though a fat lady was just called pregnant.

So, right here. Right now. Respond to the comparative adds. We all want to know just the facts.

Any one? . . . Any one?

Your stunned silence is very revealing.

Hi Serafin,
I’m a GretaWire fan, and she suggested we read your blog.

Mike Huckabee did better than I thought at Iowa, but can he maintain the edge in NH? Doubtful; I think McCain will better him.

ran across this this morning, interesting:

As recently reported by The Cincinnati Beacon, presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has close ties to fringe evangelist/tycoon Bill Gothard, who runs the little-known Chicago-area Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) and a string of affiliated businesses. It’s been widely reported that Gothard’s organizations advocate strict authoritarianism and blind obedience. Allegations of child abuse such as locking kids for extended periods in “prayer closets” and other misconduct have led to investigations.

According to a recent In These Times cover story, “The Cult of Character,” Gothard oversees an evangelical empire “which brings in an estimated profit of at least $63 million annually.” For example, see these photos of “IBLP’s beautiful Guadalajara Training Center property” which looks like a 5-star resort. Among the many hats Gothard wears, he’s “Chancellor” of a non-accredited school and founder of the “Medical Training Institute of America” which recommends such unconventional treatments as calling “elders of the church for prayer before receiving medical treatment for a serious illness” and annointing with oils.

Then there’s the “Character Cities” movement, Gothard’s secular front which infiltrates the public sector and chips away at the wall between church and state by bringing their quasi-religious programs into schools, prisons, police departments, etc. - sometimes on the taxpayer dollar. We originally got onto the story because Phil Heimlich, former Hamilton County commissioner and Gothard fan who’s now running against fellow Republican Jean Schmidt, brought the Character program to Cincinnati.

More people learned about Gothard a few weeks ago when Colorado church shooter Matthew Murray was identified as having been raised and home-schooled in an extreme Gothardite program. From the Denver Post:

Gothard’s teachings have been criticized by other conservative Christians who allege he has deviated from true Bible teaching and that his stand against rock music - even Christian rock - suspicion of modern medicine, belief in spiritual roots of disease, and opposition to women working outside the home and “evil” toys are wrong. Gothard warned followers in a 1986 letter that Cabbage Patch dolls can cause “strange, destructive behavior.”
Meanwhile, Gothard himself remains relatively unknown outside his gilded realm. He rarely speaks to the press and photos of him in mainstream publications are hard to find. So this photo from just last week of Gothard with Mike Huckabee at what is identified as a private campaign luncheon in Houston is noteworthy. The photo comes from “Huckabee in Houston” by Robert Steddon on the Steddon family blog. (The Steddons are apparently devoted Gothard followers. Son Robert Steddon says he previously travelled to Mexico with Gothard as his “assistant.”)

Perhaps Huckabee’s recent rise in the polls will motivate big media to finally take a closer look into the glitzy empire of his friend and supporter Bill Gothard.

Hi Serafin Gomez……Greta sent me here…….I blog on GretaWire

I have a question for you regarding the Michigan primary.
Hillary is the only dem on the primary ballot…The news last night said write-ins will NOT be allowed only a not commited vote can be cast.

Apparantly it has something to do with the change in our primary date and the DNC or whoever told candidates that they would not recieve funds if they put their name on our ballot….so money trumps the democratic process??????

Future headline….”Hillary wins Michigan”……..this is a sham!!

Would you please cover more of this story in the lead up to the Michigan primary so the nation understands the Hillary win in Michigan??….which will not be a true picture of the democratic voters in this state

I briefly looked at Huckabee as a posibility. But, as the layers began pealing back, I am seeing a fiscal liberal and social conservative. Both of these add up to a non-inclusive candidate, to me.

As we continue to move through the process, I am one who hopes Huckabee is a one state wonder.

P.S. to Serafin - Greta sent me to your blog…keep up the good work

Tell Chuck Norris to stand a little farther away when Huckabee speaks. His glaring white teeth are distracting one from the speeches. I just sayin’. BTW Greta said to say Hi

Hi Serafin:

Greta sent me here from her blog:

Since you mentioned Chuck Norris was on the plane with Huckabee, I’m now beginning to wonder how much of an influence he is bringing to Huckabee’s campaign. We all wondered about the Oprah effect with Obama but maybe these celebrity endorsements do mean something. Think about it, both Norris and Oprah have a large following of fans.

Like this blog but don’t particularily care for the nasty mouthed trolls that hang out here.

Couple of real “ripe” language comments , does Fox have any way to delete things of that nature ?? Its a shame that ignorant morons have to write the stuff , but maybe someone could discourage it by simply deleteing it.

RON PAUL IS OUR COUNTRY’S ONLY HOPE!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EB9vk_QO2o&feature=related

CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO….FOX NEWS SUCKS

The FCC should be obligated to yank Faux Noise’s broadcasting license for overtly tampering with an election. Not to mention censorship.

The $20 million dollars from last quarter, thousands of organized supporters makes Ron Paul the #1 viable candidate.

Now all of America can see what Ron Paul fans have been saying all along - Fox News is your base to get the most biased and slanted news.

Regardless - I will be working harder for Ron Paul!
