Camp Rudy: The world doesn’t revolve around Iowa…..
As the national press corps have been increasingly focusing on the upcoming Iowa caucuses, Rudy Giuliani–who is largely bypassing the state—has been playing a minor role in the news cycle. He popped up in the Hawkeye State Friday and Saturday but will not be returning to Iowa before the voting begins this Thursday, and plans to spend caucus night in Miami, FL.
One senior campaign official often laments about the need for the media to better understand and report on the new campaign schedule (read: It’s all about the 20+ Feb. 5 states, stupid.)—joking that “it’s time to teach an old dog new tricks.”
Well–the campaign saw it fit to send along the below reminder to political reporters Sunday:
“As Iowa voters make their way to the caucuses on January 3rd, it is important to remember that around the country absentee voting is already underway in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri and New Jersey. New York State will begin voting tomorrow with California, Connecticut and Delaware to follow suit shortly. This is truly a national Republican primary.” - Katie Levinson, Giuliani Communications Director

It is nice to see that the Rudy camp is as concerned as his supporters are. His poll numbers have been dropping all year! I hear that even in FL, there are no Rudy signs, or literature going through the mail, or radio ads, etc.
Mitt, Huck and McCain are pathetic candidates. Mitt is the best of the bunch, but Huck and McCain have shown his serious flaws. Why is Rudy not doing much better?

Rudy is doing poorly because voters have grown weary of “In NY I did this, and “In NY I did that” and “Don’t look at my record of personal infidelity and poor personnel judgment” (even though the same was true of Bill Clinton and we saw what a terrible leader he was).
Huckabee is a flash-in-the-pan as is already obvious in his slow fade in Iowa and his quicker fade in NH.
Romney is only a credible candidate because his personal wealth bought him staff and visibility early and has artificially propped-up his candidacy. If he under-performs in several early states he is unlikely to be able to copy John Kerry and buy his way back in - his fellow GOP candidates in 2008 are more substantive than those in the 2004 Democrat primary.
McCain has disappointed so many times that one wonders how dumb voters can be to trust him again. He is an arrogant, egotistical, short-sighted political hack who has harmed our country with terrible legislation after terrible legislation.
Fred Thompson is the “only true conservative” per Rush Limbaugh and I join Rush in feeling a whole lot more comfortable with Fred. Should Fred finish stronger than expected in Iowa the media will finally have to cover him and we will be able to vote for a non-compromise candidate!

I live in Florida and have to say that nothing that goes on in Iowa or New Hampshire has or will decide how I will vote. I just don’t understand the media’s facination and/or obsession with those two minor states. Please, give me a break.
I like on the west coast and nothing that ever happens in that terrible place known as Florida will i care about either. Give it another 30 years and we’ll see how florida sits .. down the drain yo
floridians think thier poo doesnt stink.. n-please
