Clinton Coughs up Answers

Perhaps shamed by this LA Times story on her refusal to take questions from audience members or the press during the first two days of her “Time to Pick a President” tour, Sen Clinton opened the floor after her first event today in Story City, Iowa. She only took three — one on No Child Left Behind, another on the cost of the war in Iraq, and finally one on the health hazards of depleted uranium — but at least it was something.

That openness didn’t extend to reporters on the rope line, however. When ABC correspondent Kate Snow twice attempted to ask about Barack Obama’s jab at her foreign policy experience today, even an Iowa caucus goer noticed the cold shoulder.

“I think she’s ignoring you,” she said. Snow replied, “I know. She ignores me very well.”

Senator Clinton — who did, in fact, appear to be ignoring her — finally looked up and said, “You know I love you, Kate.”

The openness also didn’t extend to the next event in Webster City; Hillary rushed through a 20 minute stump speech and did not take questions from the audience. Aides explained that she’s keeping a tight schedule in order to be seen by as many Iowans as possible.

Another explanation for not taking questions from the crowd? “I often hear the best stories and the best questions one-on-one,” she said. Take a listen.

CUT TO THE CHASE: PROCESS OF ELIMINATION

•I’ll not vote for someone who will say or do anything in order to “win” the Presidency therefore, I cannot vote for Hillary, Edwards, or Romney.

•As a “card carrying church going Christian” and true believer in Jesus Christ, I’ve known many Baptist ministers: most were less than “authentic” and more interested in their own self interests (to say the least). I can’t bring myself to vote for Mike Huckabee a “minister-politician”.

• This nation is in serious trouble. We must expect more from our President than platitudes and contrived inexperience for the sake of something “new”. Take Obama and Thompson off the list…Oprah too ☺

• Ron Paul - I can agree with much of what he says but he’s irate and irrational. Take him off my list.

• Because they wish to line their own personal pockets, big business leaders have ruined this country and displayed their lack of integrity to the rest of the world. Most of our national wealth is now held by a few individuals while the rest of us suffer from tax and banking loopholes. A few extra hundred dollars in banking fees, credit card interest, gas, and taxes may not mean much to a multi-millionaire but it adds up and means a great deal to the rest of us. Therefore, take Rudy off the list as well as Romney(again), Clinton (again), & Edwards (again).

• Last man (or woman) standing – JOHN McCAIN.

As we saw in the debates, Hillary prefers to plant the questions and very carefully rehearse them beforehand, so the American people think she is knowledgeable about the issues. Giving spontaneous answers from Iowans who have a right to probe more deeply before casting their votes might expose Hillary’s weaknesses. Maybe she could have Bill at her side some more to answer the questions for her? Just what America needs–another Clinton co-Presidency.

Consider what we got with the first Clinton co-Presidency:

• Abuse of the powers of the office of the President
• Granting Presidential pardons to buy Hillary’s election to the Senate. As a woman who made it on my own, Hillary’s need to ride Bill’s coattails and her sense of entitlement makes me doubt her capabilities.
• Hillary’s long-suffering marriage to Bill, enabling a lifetime of sexual trysts and trying to contain the Bimbo eruptions, gives me a President without the backbone to stand up to a man. Hillary claims to be tough enough to play with the boys when, in fact, she is unable to leave a cheating husband. How will she stand up to other male leaders who see this in “Mrs.” Clinton and walk all over her?
• Being married to a former President does not make one qualified to be President.
Hillary has less experience in elected office than Barack. She’s held elected office for one Senate term plus one year and has introduced no major legislation during that time. Is this the kind of experience we want in the Oval Office?
I am not a “Hillary hater;” I am an America lover. Please consider very carefully which candidate the Democratic Party puts on the ballot. The future of this country absolutely depends on it.

America please wake up! Unfortunately from what I’ve seen coming since year 2000, it’s enviable Hillary will win in 2008 and you will have allowed the Clinton’s to continue to rape America for another 4 to 8 years. But I plead to you, please stand behind the best man for the job not disagreeing over idiosyncrasies. If you won’t vote for Nute Gingrich who is America’s best man for the job, then we need to except Mike Huckabee as our best alternative. Or are you still be to dumb to realize the mess the Clinton’s have created for this country? I hope you have not forgotten. Disagree…???? hxtr@yahoo.com Jeff.

re: “Or are you still be to dumb to realize the mess the Clinton’s have created for this country? I hope you have not forgotten. Disagree…????”

I am not dumb.
70% of Americans thought America was going in the right direction when Clinton left office.
I agree.
70% of Americans believe George W. Bush has created a mess for this country.
I agree.
All we remember about President Clinton is peace and prosperity.
I agree.
All we see from Bush is unending debt, unending war, and unending invasion into our privacy.
I agree.

Mike Huckabee is a good man.
He’s actually a compassionate conservative. I like that.
Peace.

Hitlery is the most corrupt person running. People need to do a little research before supporting her. Google the “Clinton Chronicles”

We really need to get rid of the corruption in our government soon or we may never have another chance.

The Huckabee plan.

Basically Huckabee wants amnesty for all illegal aliens. This is know as “comprehensive immigration reform” wich we will say is not amnesty but it really is. Even criminals such as murderers, child rapists, drug dealers and gang members. They are all god’s children and we need them here to create an emergency situation in order to take away our constitutional rights. This will make facisim easier to implement after declaring martial law. ;D There will be no background check and anybody can come with less than a 24 wait for a permanent visa. It will be easier than boarding an airplane.

With the addition of 50 million non-english speaking permanent residents into our society every year the wages of Americans can be brought down to the level where we can compete with China. This way all Americans can be employed full time, there will be no unemployment. At $1 per hour average wage every American will be able to feed himself but living in a cardboard box will be necessary. If you are one of the lucky people that control our government or big business don’t worry, you will make more money than you ever dreamed of. Personal slaves will be very affordable.

Jan - there was this little thing called “9/11″, if you’ll recall, and that changed everything.

Regarding the Clinton presidency, what I remember most is when he stood in front of the camera and waved his finger in America’s face. A liar is a liar; and the media’s acceptance and propagation of this has led us to where we are on many issues involving many people (i.e. Sen. Larry Craig; Rep. William Jefferson; Sen. Robert Torricelli; Rep. Randy Cunningham).

Politics is the art of compromise. A presidential candidate should have ideals as well as ideas, but see the practicality in getting those ideals accepted. Part of the pie is better than none; however, a strong stance on issues that the majority of Americans are concerned with (such as border security, the war on terror, and our imminent currency collapse) should not be compromised.

With that in mind, my support goes to Rep. Duncan Hunter. I’ve heard no double-speak, flip-flops or waffling on the main issues from this man. He is who he is. Money is the “mother’s milk” of political campaigns, and without it press coverage and public exposure grind to a stand still. The money issue is probably the biggest thing I can see that is holding Mr. Hunter back.
