Romney Steps Under the Mistletoe

Hooksett, NH

Romney popped by Robie’s General Store while campaigning in New Hampshire today. The store has been around since 1822 and has a history of hosting presidential candidates– political posters line the wall. This cycle Richardson, McCain, Edwards, and Giuliani have all stopped by.

When Romney walked in he saw a large photograph of his father, George Romney on the wall and he seemed surprised, getting a bit misty eyed, saying that seeing the picture really touched his heart.

A much lighter moment occurred when he was walking around shaking hands and a woman asked him for an autograph. They were standing next to some mistletoe when Romney quipped to the smiling supporter only if you give me a kiss under the mistletoe! The New Hampshire frontrunner quickly added, “Ann would not be happy.”

The New Hampshire frontrunner walked around the packed store when a tourist from Tennessee starting chatting with him. He said he was a school teacher and that the schools in his home state were failing because of No Child Left Behind. Romney is a staunch supporter of NCLB even saying earlier today, “I’m unapologetic. I’m in favor of No Child Left Behind.” Romney at first just thanked the man, but came back to say he was in favor of trying to make NCLB better, but was a supporter of the program.

Romney continues campaigning in New Hampshire tomorrow hoping to widen the lead he has over gaining rival, Senator John McCain.

Now if Bill C would have been askled for a kiss ………….. Romney is the candidate with real family values.

And his kids like him, too…

I heard Mitt at a speech at Microsoft when asked about no child left behind, and he spoke about programs that he helped institute in Mass. that were something like “no child held back”
That is what we need to be competitive around the world–schools where the top can excel and be pushed to greater academic achievement. Currently, the NEA wants all kids to barely have a pulse and barely learn. Mitt wants everyone to exceed expectations. He is an excellent role model for that (graduating from Harvard with honors in Law and MBA)

Our president can be a great role model-if we choose this man.
