Hillary Fights for Foreign Policy Cred

The New York Times looks into how Hillary Clinton asserted herself on foreign policy matters in the Clinton White House, finding that she was less a direct participant in key decisions than a sounding board for her husband.

Sen Clinton, who’s starting her final tour across Iowa touting her experience and qualifications, has defended surrogates’ claims that she was the face of America’s foreign policy during her years as First Lady — and argues that her time in the White House left her uniquely qualified to deal not only with domestic issues that she worked on directly, but also with matters of foreign affairs.

To underscore those international credentials — and to once again jab her rival Barack Obama for claiming to have more Clinton administration officials backing his campaign than hers — Clinton released a list of 160 ex-Clinton foreign policy aides who are supporting her candidacy. The campaign says “they have signed onto to Senator Clinton’s campaign in such large numbers because they believe she is uniquely qualified to address the challenges of the 21st century.”

Meanwhile, she’s put out a new ad called “Stakes” in Iowa and New Hampshire that features only music and still images. Her campaign says the spot “makes the case for why Hillary will be the best president to confront the challenges America is facing at home and abroad.”

This is a beautiful ad.
To me, the most striking photo is how much we each owe right now on the national debt. The “clock” had been turned off; unfortunately for our kids, it’s on again.

And Newsweek says that she demanded that Bill do her bidding in matters of foreign policy, health care etc. The story says she threatened him, and became even more empowered after he got caught cheating on her. Who should we believe? She sounds like a very controling, manipulative person.

Agree with Don…Bill will do Hillary’s bidding, whatever it takes to get back in power. A vote for Obama is a vote not only for change, but a vote for someone with integrity. The Clintons are so into image spinning. Hillary is experienced? Hillary is qualified?

Hillary has earned nothing on her own. Bill moves up (Gov of Arkansas); Hillary moves up with him (Attorney General of Arkansas). Bill moves up (President of the US); Hillary moves up with him (US Senate). See the pattern, women?

Consider what America got with the first Clinton co-Presidency:

• Abuse of the powers of the office of the President
• Granting Presidential pardons to buy Hillary’s election to the Senate. As a woman who made it on my own, Hillary’s need to ride Bill’s coattails and her sense of entitlement makes me doubt her capabilities.
• Hillary’s long-suffering marriage to Bill, enabling a lifetime of sexual trysts and trying to contain the Bimbo eruptions, gives me a President without the backbone to stand up to a man. Hillary claims to be tough enough to play with the boys when, in fact, she is unable to leave a cheating husband. How will she stand up to other male leaders who see this in “Mrs.” Clinton and walk all over her?
• Being married to a former President does not make one qualified to be President.
Hillary has less experience in elected office than Barack. She’s held elected office for one Senate term plus one year and has introduced no major legislation during that time. Is this the kind of experience we want in the Oval Office?
I am not a “Hillary hater;” I am an America lover. Please consider very carefully which candidate the Democratic Party puts on the ballot. The future of this country absolutely depends on it.
