Clinton Dings Obama, Republicans On Iraq

Iraq hasn’t been on the ‘08 agenda much lately, with tactical successes on the ground and the general consensus among Democrats on ending the war keeping the issue off the front pages. But Hillary Clinton focused on foreign policy and her Iraq plan today in Grundy Center, IA on the fifth and last day of her “Every County Counts” Hill-a-Copter tour of Iowa — which has included more driving than flying due to extremely foggy days in the state.

Introduced by national security luminaries such as former UN Ambassador Richard Holbrooke and former NATO commander and presidential candidate Gen Wesley Clark, Hillary called the Republican presidential candidates “just plain wrong” for declaring “mission accomplished” on the surge in Iraq.

“Because 2007 has been the deadliest year ever, we know we cannot have a policy that can be summed up in four words: More of the same,” she said. “I will not hesitate to go toe to toe with the Republicans in the debates for the case to end the war as quickly and responsibly as we possibly can.” She said she’d begin withdrawing troops within the first 60 days of her administration, at the rate of about 1-2 combat brigades a month.

But she didn’t reserve her ire for the GOP. Subtly making the argument that her opponents, especially Barack Obama, are not experienced enough to be president, Clinton said, ” it’s tempting any time things seems quieter for a minute on the international front to think we don’t need a president who’s up to speed on foreign affairs and military matters. Well that’s the kind of logic that got us George Bush in the first place.” She said she would be “a president who doesn’t just talk about change but delivers it.”

Not to leave anyone out, she included a subtle jab at John Edwards for the second day in a row. Asked by an Edwards supporter what she thought of his “two Americas” argument, Sen Clinton highlighted her own record of accomplishments in helping impoverished Americans and implied that her rivals can’t match her record. “We lifted more people out of poverty in the 90’s than any time in our history,” she said. “So I’m not just giving speeches about this, I’ve worked on this for 35 years.”

Even her surrogates got into the act in addressing her rivals. Responding to Obama’s weeks-old knock on Hillary’s White House experience — he said he didn’t remember Hillary serving as Treasury Secretary in the Clinton White House — Wes Clark said “I don’t think you have to be secretary of the treasury to learn a lot.” He added that Hillary’s been deeply involved in policy and issues since her time in Arkansas

I see Hillary trying to get back to the White House and think about all the lying, police-state tactics, use of private investigators to gather dirt and wipe out her political opponents, abuse of power, Whitewater, Travelgate, and other scandals of the Clinton White House too numerous to mention. The thought of her at the helm is scary–very scary.

Before you cast your vote, please consider the following about the first Clinton co-presidency:

• The Clintons were more concerned about what they could get from the presidency instead of honoring their responsibilities to this country. At the end of their term they were multi-millionaires. Ever wonder how they got so wealthy?
• Think about how they sold our military secrets, how they exchanged pardons for Puerto Rican votes in New York, freeing some of the worst criminals just so Hillary could have what she thinks she is entitled to. Will our democracy survive another four years of them?
• Hillary loves to play the victim–of Bill, of the Republican vast right-wing conspiracy, of all the Bimbos who sleep with Bill, etc. Can a victim be an effective president?
• Hillary’s long-suffering marriage to Bill, enabling him to have numerous sexual trysts — not just a one-time dalliance with Monica — results in her sense of entitlement. Do we want a president who feels the job is rightfully hers just because she’s suffered through 35 years of marriage to Bill?
• Hillary claims to be tough enough to play with the boys when, in fact, she is unable to leave a cheating husband. How will she stand up to other men who walk all over her?
• Hillary attacks her opponents with lies and innuendo far more than she talks about how she would attempt to cure America’s ills. What is her plan…does she even have one?
• Hillary has no experience. Being married to a president does not make one qualified to be president. As a married woman, I cannot relate to a woman who stays in a sick marriage so she can capitalize on her husband’s success, then pretend she did it on her own. She gives no specifics about her experience. More dodging accountability.
• Fact: She’s held elected office for one Senate term and has introduced no major legislation during that time. Is this the kind of experience we want in the Oval Office?

Hillary is not what she pretends to be. She is spinning her image — the same tactics Bill used on an unsuspecting American people the first time around. We should be smarter than that now. Do we really want them in the White House again?

Cast your vote wisely in 2008.

Yes, Hillary IS the “Change Machine.” If she’s elected, that’s all we’ll have in our pockets: change!

And she needs to be careful about lumping all the GOP’s together as the perpetuators of war, as if only the Democrats want to bring the troops home. There’s at least one GOP who wants to end the unjust war and make our nation free again. I’ll give you a hint: he is the only GOP who stands a chance of defeating Hillary, and his initials are R.P. :)

Let’s not forgot Hillary voted to invade Iraq–here she goes again rewriting history! If she does implode, we may get the only candidate who can inspire us
after 8 years in the wilderness: Obama. We deserve it.

I am so tired of all the whineing on the left about how they want to being our troops home!!!! They voted to go to war and if they had any backbone to begin with they would not have voted YES. How can politicians vote to go to war then vote against given our troops the armor and supplies that they need. They should be ashamed of themselves and if these are the kind of people we want in the white house than this is a very sad time in America. I want someone in the White House that stands by there vote and does not back down after they cast their vote. Backbone is what these democrats need and if change is what Americans want then that is what they will get with Clinton because you will have no money and she will decide where we can go to the doctor and maybe if we are lucky she will carry a tide to go to get the stains off the dresses of the ladies in the white house because her hubby will be back.

oh and i forgot Hilary plays the Women card in the debates. She can not handle the big boys picking on her well what is she going to do when she is dealing with the big boys of Iran, North Korea or Venzuela? Cry to her hubby for help!!!! I think this country needs someone with experience which Hilary does not have unless you call covering up for her cheating husband experience!!!!
