The 6 million dollar man! Ron Paul’s one day fundraising haul!

Per Jake Gibson: Des Moines, Iowa

Sunday, supporters of Ron Paul organized a fundraiser on the anniversary of the Boston Tea party. They raised an astonishing 6 million dollars! Even Dr. Paul seemed stunned.

Wow! Destined to raise more in the 4th quarter than any other candidate of either party, Ron Paul receives only 3 sentences of recognition…. C’mon Cam, shine the light on this guy!

Comment by Dan Lyons

I think it’s wonderful that Dr. Paul is making this sort of impact. I expect nothing less from Fox, I have no idea how these guys can even turn a buck following old Soviet strategies such as these, burying stories that don’t fit their agenda. See what the guys at CNN have to say (cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/17/paul.fundraising.ap/index.html) and it becomes just how transparent this shutout is. Bad Fox, abandoning journalistic objectivity. Bad.

This hardly qualifies as an article, by the way.

Comment by Ernest Hunter

It is amazing that Fox has totally ignored this candidate. Who owns Fox News and what agenda are you pushing. What ever happened to you report and we decide. Let America hear all the candidates and let them decide. You guys are so odvious in your lack of airtime for this candidate.

And…what a hatchet-job when they DID allow Dr. Paul to “appear” on FOX & Fiends just now!! Are you SURE giving him slightly more than 30 seconds was the NEO-safe thing to do?? The demonic look on the blond lady’s face as she tersely spit out one-word “give me a response” topics was absolutely hilarious!!

I do not normally watch Fox, but this morning I went out on a limb to watch the coverage on Ron Paul. I have to admit, I was disappointed on how the interview was handled. It is just short of impossible for anyone to give one word answers to major issues we are facing. How can we as Americans make informed decisions on which candidate to vote for and support if they are not covered equally by the main stream media. It makes so much sense that the popularity that Ron Paul gets comes from internet savvy citizens. Citizens must do their own research to make their decisions on any candidate.

Comment by i.S. Hahn

Why is Fox only showing one article about Paul it is at the bottom of to other comments. Seondly ,why is Fox only showing 8 million dollars raised for Paul’s campaign when it is actually over $26,000,000? Fox refuses to write or talk about Paul and I think they are exremelt biased. I will never watch Fox news or patronize any of their advertisers until they really become fair an un-biased. Fox should be ashamed of themselves for so blatantly being for that crook and adulerer Mr. 911 Rudy Giuliani , ..

Comment by John Matuszak

Fox networks treatment of Ron Paul is best summed up as “unfair and unbalanced”. I see that Fox reporters and talking heads are emulating their leftist and liberal counterparts by using mockery and disparagement of people they don’t like or don’t understand but should respect. I’m tossing Fox into the ” Big Heap of Media Misfits” - John M, Florida

Comment by fred

They dont show him much cause he will never win the nomination…same as Hunter and Tancredo. He has no shot at winning the Republican nomination…so why waste air time. Maybe if he runs as a Libertarian during the general election he might get more airtime.

Comment by Leo

Well, I must say I am impressed with FoxNews.com’s coverage of Ron Paul. To think you would actually give him 3 whole lines at the bottom of the Campaign Page is astounding work! And to comment about his fund raising…truly remarkable investigating! Those other news networks don’t have anything on FoxNews.com. They barely even report that Ron Paul is a candidate!

Maybe Fox should continue this hard work and point out that Ron Paul has the most Constitutional view of American policies, or that he has the most financial support out of all the candidates, or that he has won a vast majority of straw polls, and even the Open Presidential Caucus by a wide margin, and yet still only shows up as a single-digit candidate in the media polls [including this website].

Now that’s Pulitzer Prize material!

Comment by Phil H

I have been watching Fox News for its promised of “fair and balanced” journalism practices. However, I don’t see this practice apply to coverage of Dr. Ron Paul Presidential Campaign. I want to see more coverage of this great candidate among other front runners. He is by far, the best Republican candidate I have ever seen, but by limiting his air time to almost nil, his message cannot be heard. Please give Dr. Paul more air time so that everyone will have a chance to hear his message. After all, I’m not asking Fox News to give any favor treatment, I’m just asking Fox News to be fair and balanced.

Comment by keith

The coverage of Congressman Paul was much better on MSNBC this morning. Morning Joe did a great interview. Even CNN was better than Fox.

Comment by Jeff D

Okay FOX, your true colors are showing. You should start actually reporting on Ron Paul before you lose any more respect in the journalism business. Don’t you notice that the little bit of coverage you give to Ron Paul gets more attention than all of your other media darling ‘front runners’.

Comment by Alex

three whole lines on the biggest one day haul in u.s. campaign history…..can anyone say ” Propaganda “, Foxnews isn’t worthy of holding a broadcast license, I blame the FCC on this monopoly media mentality that undermines truth in reporting…..I’m guessing the networks are unable to find any dirt on Dr. Paul, so they manipulate the news on our behalf, Congratulations Fox !
you’ve been caught in the act by Ron Paul supporters ! Your avid veiwer’s will learn in the primaries, on how your stories on Ron Paul don’t add up, hope you at least cut sean hannity a break, hate to see him flipping hamburgers for a living.

Comment by Jeff D

fred - they make it look like he has no chance because they don’t even include his name in most of the stupid phone polls. And you think FOX (or pretty much any MSM outlet) is “fair”?

Let’s be a country again. Bring the empire home.

Comment by Scott

I use to be an avid supporter of the “fair and balanced” fox news channel. I have come to recognize; however, that this neo-con news station is far from fair and balanced. Take a look at the main page today. Ugly boy mitt’s mug. The name of tax happy, lock up aids victims Huckabee all over. Yet, a man of courage and wisdom has peaceful supports provide him with 6 million dollars in 24 hours. I bet if a far liberal or neo-con candidate did this it would be all over. FOX NEWS IS SCARED! The Revolution is here!

Comment by Michael

Does fox know who Ron Paul is?

Comment by fred

Jeff D-

if you remember correctly until Huckabee started polling well in Iowa it was the same way…he would get very few articles, interviews and wasnt included in many polls. If Ron Paul was leading in ANY poll or in the top 3 or 4 in a poll i am sure he would get more attention.

Comment by Ed

Come on FOX…….I know you guys aren’t going to grand-stand Ron Paul like Mit, Rudy, or Huck….but lets not be so obvious about down playing him. He was treated like a five year old in the interview.

And I have an idea….and I got this straight from your boy Billy-O when he rants about anti-GW-ites….you don’t have to like the man, but respect his office. He is after all a 10 term congressman.

Comment by Alexisnexus

It really is not surprising that the TV media almost completely ignores Ron Paul
as a potential Presidential canidate…last night on CNN they barely mentioned his Sunday event,
“Boston Tea Party”, raising all those millions….wonder why that is?

Comment by David

I have to agree with the majority of these comments. I am so disappointed with FOX News for their coverage of Ron Paul. How can they ignore a candidate who is the only one, from both parties, that really reflects any true change to our current political system? How can they ignore a candidate that has raised so much money? And how can they ignore a candidate that has such unprecedented grass roots support?

Truly not fair or balanced. Shame on FOX News!

Comment by Elaine McLellan

Hello, anybody home? One scant paragraph on Ron Paul? He is THE PEOPLES choice. Don’t you get what’s happening?

Comment by Cole

A few sentences, Good job FNC thats some big league reporting you got going on!

They can’t ignor us forever, We are a threat to the status quo, a status quo which care only for those who can manipulate the system for personal and financial gain, They don’t want Americans thinking for themselves, they want to think for us, tell us how to live our lives, how we feel and what we believe, They are scared at the fact its every so becoming more apparent to them that they no longer control us, and that We The People are capable of rejecting the status quo, and take back that which is ours, Freedom and Liberty.

They encourage and manipulate those who wont educate themselves, To support Candidates with long records of lying and flip flopping, and NOT upholding the oath they take to the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

The media knows they have no dirt on Ron Paul he stays true to the founding beliefs of this country and his record shows it, And this game is won and lost by the dirt, So what do they do? They ignor him, as they have no other choice…

They can’t stand the fact he has he support that he does, and the fact that they had and will never have any power to control that support, Come election day,

They lose.

Comment by Stephen M.

Well, I guess this is better than nothing, if only slightly…

Oh well, Congressman Paul has accomplished so much without the Mainstream Media so far, I don’t think he really needs anything more than this from FOX News.

Comment by Justin Kilcher

Whenever an anti-establishment candidate like Ron Paul is gaining momentum the MSM will do anything to surpress the news. All the “top tier” candidates from both parties represent staying with the status quo in this country and that is exactly what these corporations need. Ron Paul is a candidate that cannot be bought and sold and that is scary to people in high places.

Comment by Christopher

The fact that anyone else is still a choice for anyone at all is above me. Ron Paul is the only one that is not changing his mind and “Flip Flopping” what he thinks to get more votes. My God, what a man he is. He is beyond politics and is truly for the American People. He understands that in this country you have the right to say and think what ever you want and that is just a few of the rights he wants to protect for all of us. I am with him all the way even if it is only a write in. atlasdaddy.

Comment by Mike Ohio

Definately Fox has its own agenda. Trying to find fair and balanced News, since I have deleted Fox from my favorites I’m looking elsewhere. Give Ron Paul air time he deserves it!

Comment by Jeff

I work in a union facility in Wisconsin that has been very hostile toward anything that is conservative or constitutional in presidential candidates. The astonishing thing to me is that people who would cut off their right arm rather than vote republican are supporting Dr. Ron Paul and his platform. I am not a prognosticator nor a soothsayer but don’t be surprised at how well Dr. Paul is going to do. We tried to inform you! I think you should dig up some good recipes for crow. You may be forced to enjoy it.

Comment by motoboy

Hey Fox: Ron Paul scares the hell out of you neocons, doesn’t he?

Comment by steve d

here is what it boils down to in the end, the Iraq war is a good subject to fill the gaps between the commercials, no war, nothing to report on. Big business is scared because Ron Paul will hold them accountable for their stealing. Haliburton is pretty nervous since no more war in Iraq, no more Billions of dollars in no-bid contracts, no more 100$ a load for laundry, $9 for a 12oz can of coca cola. Big brother is worried about the Patriot act getting repealed which means no more domestic spying on all of us without oversight. Liberty is scary to most of the big business and big brother types. I give my FULL support to Dr. Paul since he stands for personal liberty, privacy, and getting our own backyard straight. Oh yeah, illeagal immigrants, GREAT for big business(construction companies) who build a house for a third of the price and charge 40% more and write fat checks up in Washington. WAKE UP AMERICA!

Comment by steve d

6 million in one day, that is alot of PEOPLE, no special interest money that means alot of us poor folks will be sending our votes to Dr. Paul around primary time. Here is the good news, even us poor dummies that still believe in freedom and democracy get a vote, it doesen’t cost anything. Look out NEOCONS

Comment by Dorothy Fairview

Just as our presence in the middle east causes terrorism, your attempt to obscure the campaign of Ron Paul energizes his supporters. Fox typifies what is wrong with America: control by the weapons manufacturers, international bankers and corporations. You are afraid of Ron Paul.

Comment by Anthony

Agreed, it goes to show, Ron Paul must really not be “paid for” like the rest of the candidates all they show is his negatives and then this one story. I guess I’ll be watching CNN and MSNBC instead of Fox News.

Comment by Dennis S.

I’m not the least bit surprised that Ron Paul has been Blackballed from the media. It is the fear that he may be able to do exactly what the majority of the American people want. Restore our constitutional rights and liberties back where they belong. To…(We The People) It’s sad that Corperate America has been sold out to the neo-cons for the price of FREEDOM. They have thought that they’ve bought and sold the real American people, but come, Jan. 3rd they will finally wake up to the real world when they find out who the REAL top tier candidate is. Ron Paul…Our supporters are the real backbone of this great nation. We can actually think for ourselves.

Fox is excluding him from the forum in New Hampshire. Ron Paul owns this “Live Free Or Die” state.

I say that we give Ron Paul even more money and exclude “Faux News” from our viewing list.

Let’s get out and spread the word!

Comment by Ann Fisher

I find FOX NEWS POLITICAL (election) coverage INSPIRING. It has so INSPIRED this citizen (who has never before actively supported a political candidate) that after viewing your calculatingly arrogant news treatment of RON PAUL, I sent $160 to his campaign office for 500 bumper stickers to disseminate to help publicly show the truth about how many people you are ignoring, who support this candidate. I suggest others follow my example as a more EFFECTIVE PROTEST to vittual news blackouts.

Comment by JEFFREY TROCHELMAN

Does Fox have no shame ? I have no words to describe their scandalous behavior toward a very viable candidate for President. From this moment forth they shall be viewed as the buffoons of broadcasting. CONGRATULATIONS!

Comment by Becky

Could you tell me why Fox is not letting Ron Paul on the debate Jan 6th before the NH primary?

What happened to giving all of them equal time?

Comment by Darryl Schmitz

When did the organizational chart get reconfigured so that the News division reports to the Sean Hannity Show? What a three-ring circus this network has become. And to think\, so many of us were cheering you on as a truly balanced network to show up the big three. You, CBS, and NBC are awful. ABC has been outshining you all as far as balance and fairness goes.

Comment by Kim Petrie

I just don’t understand how Fox News and its staff feel that its doing an adequate job reporting on this election when they have all be ignored as strong a candidate as Ron Paul. If your station and its competitors don’t start reporting on all of the candidates, how will we know what alternatives are out there or what each of them has to say. It seems the lame stream media has its own agenda regarding the election and therefore has disqualified itself from calling what it prints NEWS. I can understand the shows that have what is clearly a host that has one bias or another, but this website is foxnews.com, isn’t that a bit misleading? Viewers will only be viewers until they can get to a more accruate source, maybe like the internet.

Comment by David Battaglia

It is unbeleivable that there is only one article here. Exactly what is FOX News paying it’s embed producer for…to keep quiet?

Comment by kevin

The fox news is a big disgrace to america by excluding Ron Paul. I don’t think the Lame Stream Media understands exactly how much popularity Ron Paul really has, and how much his ideas are resonating with Americans. The American people aren’t stupid, and we understand the dire situation our country is headed in. Especially the economic crisis we are going to suffer. The Dollar is declining in value week after week, U.S. imperialism goes unchecked at the expense of our Republic, and we middle class Americans are overtaxed, and over-regulated.

We The People are not going to let a Lame media stand in the way of progress and restoring The Constitution. Ron Paul is the only candidate offering REAL solutions to REAL problems. Ron Paul has my vote.

Comment by tim grant

Small wonder that the Media wants Ron Paul to go away. They do not print or report the truth and we cannot wait for them to be honest or fair. They are against our American Constitution that our forefather’s fought for and are little more than a sugar coated traitor with ink instead of blood on his/her hands.
Wake up America!

Comment by Drewsome Newsome

check out youtube and fox debate and you’ll see how far FOX is going to discredit Ron Paul, they tried to tie him into Rosy Odonnel and Al Quida….what a sad sad organization FOX News is…it’s more like “They Decide 2008″

Comment by Chris V

I find it amazing that the one candidate who actually embraces conservative values is being ignored by the media.

His support is everywhere, look at the donations for Q4. The only signs I see on a day to day basis - bumper stickers, pins, yard signs, overpass banners are for Ron Paul - yet the media ignores him.

Perhaps the media should go back to serving the people. Instead of showing what Rupert and Ted want, maybe we should see what the people want.

Ron Paul 2008!

Comment by elen

I feel like i never left Russia, Putin is on the cover of Time magazine and Paul could not get the media attention even after raising near $20 million

Comment by familyforest

Last night on Fox News I heard the news reporters talking
about Fox News should reconsider and let Ron Paul in the debate.
Anyone think they will??
One of the arguments I heard was there is no way he will be President…but then look at what happened last night in Iowa. How do they know who will win and who will not????

Comment by CB

Oh no! The veil is off! Fox is just like the other guys. Dang. I didn’t think it would happen this fast. While most in power are truly afraid of the truth, Ron Paul is the closest candidate I have seen yet. Why not ignore him?
THE PEOPLE ARE GETTING WISE…
Watch out, Fox! Lies and manipulation will only take you so far.

Comment by grunk

Fox News has turned into a “second tier” network. Did anybody there ever take a journalsim class? Get over yourselves. You aren’t the story; the candidates are. Put Ron Paul in the forum. Or are there only chickens in the Foxhouse?

Comment by William A. Wellman

You can’t fool all of the people all the time, only some of the people all the time and that number is shrinking. Seek out as much information as possible before making a reasoned decision, because if you don’t you’ll be led down the wrong path by people who think they know it all.

Comment by Ellen Dickinson

Shame, shame, shame on you for not inviting Ron Paul to the debate tonight. Is this part of “news censoring”? There are millions of us who would have been interested in what he would have had to say tonight had he been invited.

Comment by Micheil Wiegand

Pick an issue and Ron Paul is on the correct side of it. Every other candidate is a sticker on a puzzle cube.

Very disappointed with FOX news for the blatant non-journalism they exhibit. They will not be on my list of news sources from here on.

Thru the course of American history the power of the press has been a major factor in the outcome of elections. Thanks to the internet we can now review not only the canidates responses to certain questions but also the way they were posed as questions..Media in general in the early part of 2007 made light of Ron Pauls canidacy and his views on government ,the deficit, and our roll in foriegn affairs.
Today is the NH primaries,I sincerely hope that Ron Paul makes a good showing ,His message needs to be heard,Fox News needs to report the canidates opinions and not their own..I find it very disengenuos for reporters to venture a personal opinion about one canidate or another,They should take into account that their voice is heard more than the actual canidates solely on the fact that they have thier own a time slot..Sean you may disagree with some of what many of the canidates say but your opinion over the airwaves carries a hell of a lot more wieght than say my on the fox blog..
And finally to dimiss out of hand that We as Americans might have in some way provoked the attacks of 9/11 is just plain nuts..Ron Paul was just pointing out that our Foriegn policies have been less than ideal in the last 100 years or so and that just maybe we might have pissed someone off..And for Guilliani to take exception to the fact saying and I quote “I survived 9/11!! in the debate ..I laughed..He was in the Hamptons during the attacks ..I survived to because I was at the Jersey shore..(about the same distance away)

Comment by Andrew E. Reid

Wow, this is it, folks. Three lines of text for a gentleman and a scholar. That’s it; nothing else. There are presently more than 5 dozen articles on Obama, a candidate who refuses to even talk with FAUXnews.

Comment by Anne Reid

Fox news is not interested in Truth, Justice, or the American Way. . .and certainly not in what our Contitution has to say about life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. I, for one, am tired of being milked by those in the whitehouse. I want my hard earned money to be backed by real gold and silver, not by air. I want the Treasury to perform it’s proper function as prodived for in the Constitution. I want Americans to control their money, not the international bankers. I want my privacy back. I want the fear mongers to shut-up!!! Ron Paul is the only candidate who is a Statesman. He wants the right things for our country. It’s time We the People took back our country. FOX is obviously getting paid to suppress Dr. Paul’s candidacy.

Comment by Chris

I wanna point out a sad irony real quick has anyone who has commented on this article or anyone at Fox news noticed that 90% or so of these blogs are longer than the actual article there writen on. LOL. Here is what I propose. Lets stop being distracted. Don’t get me wrong this is a good line of diolouge, but lets go where the undecided or uninformed are. Start bloging Ron Paul everywhere the other candidates are. Take one from Ron Pauls book and Shake things up. Pick fights in chatrooms and Blogs. Make people see there own ignorance. Lets do a little less patting eachother on the back and get out there, and help the cause. Ron is the best candidate in my lifetime, and I’m gonna do anything I can to get him elected. If all I can do is make people wake up and smell the constitution then that’s what I’ll do. Advertise for Ron Paul in every blog on this web site. He’s not gonna elect himself and Fox is not going to sell him either. And another thing.

DON”T BE AFRAID TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS TO GET ATTENTION.

RON PAUL 2008 Start a Revolution

Comment by Jose

There’s only one article about Ron Paul on this Fox News website and it’s over a month old. While the other Republican candidates have over 50 articles. Ron Paul only has 4. Correction, only has 1, the other are about Romney with Ron Paul supporters in the background. Very Unfair and Unbalanced Indeed. Surely Ron Paul articles on Fox can “fairly” average at least an article a week while the others are getting an article a day.

Comment by Jose

Ronald Reagan once said that libertarianism is “the very heart and soul of conservatism” (Reagan was great at communicating the principles of limited government, if less great at actually implementing them). Of all the candidates, only Paul can credibly lay claim to the legacy of the Reagan-Goldwater revolution. Ron Paul is the most conservative Republican running for President today and FOX NEWS KNOWS IT.
