New Year’s Resolutions

Second to last question: what’s your new year’s resolution?

Clinton: Multi-part (shocking) - She wants to exercise and do the very best job she can in this campaign to rebuild optimism and confidence of the American people and go into the WH with the people behind her.

Edwards: To remember in all this campaign hoopla that somewhere in American tonight a child will go to bed hungry, a family will go to the emergency room without health care, a father will lose his job. What’s not at stake is any of the candidates - “We’ll all be just fine,” Edwards reminded the crowd. What’s at stake is if America will be fine.

Dodd: Restore hope, optimism, confidence, and moral authority. And to remember our best days are ahead of us,  spend time with family. “I wish Iowans caucus and caucus correctly,” he added.

Richardson: Says he has the same one every year - to lose weight and do it again. That’s personal, he laughed. He hopes to end the “dysfunctional relationship” between the president and congress. And, he hopes, to stay optimistic.

Biden: Also makes the same one every year, and that is to remember where he comes from. Every year he tries to remember what it’s like when it’s really bad so he treats people well when things are good.

Obama: To be a better father and a better husband. He reminds himself constantly that this process is not about Barack Obama. It’s a strain on the family, he admitted. He talked about buying a Christmas tree with his daughters yesterday before flying to DC to vote in the Senate. It’s worth it, he rationalized, if his work has an impact on their lives and those of other children. He has to remind himself not to be timid and not to be afraid of losing.
